I have discovered the source of this error. We do not install sendmail during the OS isntall. The /etc/mail./aliases file was missing therefore the user aliases could not be created. I touched this file and created a user and no further issues.

at that same time even processes like login and "su" were throwing exceptions. I bounced the listener and DB and all is working now.

any idea?
thanks in advance!
daniel wangHi.
Try the following: make sure you have JDK 1.3.x installed and in your path
before you run the installation. I have seen similar problems when someone had
JDK 1.1.x in the path. You might also try running a silent installation
instead.
Regards,
Michael

LC / Solaris Errors occured during the installation : null
Hi all,
I'm installing LC with WebLogic on a Solaris server. Everything seems to goes right till the end of the process when I get "Errors occured during the installation" and the error message is "null". It's not actually helpfull...
I've checked the installation folder permissions : 777 so it seems to be right too.
The only weird thing I see is that the serial number I have to use seems to be for Windows : "Adobe LiveCycle ES Win WebLogic", but it worked because it allowed me to install a bunch of applications.
I'm logged as root.
Any idea ?
ThxWhich version of the JDK did you install?

Thanks for the reply but, how can i set the variable $ORACLE_HOME?
and to what directory it has to point? does it need to point to the oracle db or to the oracle bin dir?

Naveen kumarHello Naveen,
Listener belongs to the database, start the listener with ora<sid> , if its already started, stop it and start again.
To read more about Oracle listener, please check this link:
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97630_01/network.920/a96580/listener.htm
Everything should be fine.

Error: Could not initialize ORB monitoring
Hi All,
I use Java application client to access SunONE 7 (final release, not beta) and got an error below.
1. The error was printed on screen, not thrown to program (any error should thrown to the program, so we know that).
2. It seems no harm. My program still functions right.
What was wrong? Any thing I should do?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Is the system up and running? If so remove the disk from the drive and see if it stops. Replace the drive if it does. -
Error using setTimestamp and ojdbc14 against Oracle 7.3.4
I am having a problem setting a timestamp value against Oracle 7.3.4 and Oracle 8.0.6 databases.
Here's the code:
public Tester
(String passedUsername, String passedPassword, String passedHostName, String passedPort, String passedSID)
throws SQLException {
// Establish a database connection
try {
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
} catch (ClassNotFoundException e) { throw new SQLException("Can't find class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"); }
StringBuffer myStringBuffer = new StringBuffer(50);
myStringBuffer.append("jdbc:oracle:thin:@");
myStringBuffer.append(passedHostName);
myStringBuffer.append(":");
myStringBuffer.append(passedPort);
myStringBuffer.append(":");
myStringBuffer.append(passedSID);
Connection myConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(myStringBuffer.toString(), passedUsername, passedPassword);
myConnection.setAutoCommit(false);
// Insert the test record
PreparedStatement myPreparedStatement = null;
try {
myPreparedStatement = myConnection.prepareStatement("insert into test_table(date_field) values (?)");
myPreparedStatement.setTimestamp(1, new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis()));
myPreparedStatement.execute();
} finally {
if (myPreparedStatement != null) myPreparedStatement.close();

Note that the table in the insert statement does not have to exist. You can even replace the statement with a garbage statement.
The error is produced regardless.
The code is being compiled under JDK 1.4
I am using the latest version of the JDBC drivers (i.e. ojdbc14.jar)
The code works fine under Oracle 8.1.7 and 9.0.1
My code needs to access all four of these database version, sometimes concurrently, so I can only use a single driver class (i.e. I can't swap out ojdbc14.jar for classes12.zip).
Any feedback would be appreciated!Hi,
Only to say that we have the same problem like you:
- Error ORA-01024 when connection to Oracle 8.0.1 on Sun Solaris
- Error ORA-03115 when connection to Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows
We are thinking about upgrading Oracle. Is it the only solution?
Thank you -
Oracle for Sun Solaris (Intel Platform)
I want to know that if oracle for sun solaris 8 (intel platform) is available and anyone has installed it. On OTN only oracle for sun solaris (For SPARC ) is available for download.
if anyone know it for solaris 8 (intel platform) then please tell me where to get it from.

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name ORACLE 9I DATABASE
- Filename
- Date/Time 5 JULY 2K2
- Browser + Version IE 6
- O/S + Version SUN SOLARIS
- Error MsgI didn't see anything on the Sun site, but the disk arrived with my Solaris media. I have installed it on one machine (you need to create the "oracle" user id, the "dba" group, and you must set the tunable parameters for shared memory to install the software and example database.)
I tried to install a second machine and the Oracle installer terminates half way through without errors. I'm still working that issue. -
I have got the following error when I am running my application using JDBC. It works fine but after running long time I have got this error.
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=153092352)(ERR=12500)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12500)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12540)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12560)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=510)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(BUF='Solaris Error: 12: Not enough space'))))
Please help me stating the reason behind it.
Thanks
Manisha NandiI got a connection in one class(say A) which is a static member of that class (in A). Then I have used it another class(say B). After using it I closed all the statements , results. As the program means to run forever that's why I didnot close the connection.So that I can use it . But when I press CTRl+C the opened connection in class A was closed.
So may it be the reason ?
Thanks

Edited by: Bangaru on Dec 16, 2009 7:33 AMThese are generic errors, turn on listener tracing in listener.ora and check for more detailed informations:
TRACE_LEVEL_LISTENER = admin
TRACE_DIRECTORY_LISTENER = <directory>
And post a little bit more - before and after these high level errors.
