Solaris 10 - IPv6 Configuration

Hey,
i have some Problems with IPv6 configuration on Solaris 10 (SPARC).
I can't configure an physical Interface with an IPv6-address. Every way I choose to configure, Solaris always create a virtual Interface, and give this Interfface the IP-address
Do you now a way, how I could configure the physical Interface?
I tested the way to configure manually, editing the /etc/hostname6.eri1 (IP-address, respectively hostname, respectively "addif 2003::2/64 up") and /etc/inet/ipnodes, and the way to insert "ifconfig eri1 inet6 ***".
Thank you for your help
greetings,
darkholylein

Hi,
no, I'm not running in a zone.
If I try to configure manualy, i get this output:

  • SGE2010 and IPv6 configuration

    Dear sirs,
    I own a /48 ipv6 address block , and i'd like to cut it in /64 blocks with a SGE2010 switch .
    Layer 3 and IPv4 configuration works well : IP configuration on vlans and IP routing between vlans.
    MachineA (172.18.10.200)    <====> (172.18.10.253/24) switch (172.18.255.1/24)   <=====> MachineB (172.18.255.100)
    I'd like to do the same configuration in ipv6 : but i experience problems :
    When i want to add an ipv6 interface, it doesn't add it, but replaces the already defined ipv6 interface.
    I first thought of a problem with web administration interface , so i tried to define a configuration file like this :
    vlan database
    vlan 2,255
    default-vlan vlan 10
    exit
    interface ethernet 1/g6
    switchport access vlan 2
    exit
    interface ethernet 1/g47
    switchport access vlan 255
    exit
    interface vlan 2
    name Wan
    ip address 172.18.1.253 255.255.255.0
    ipv6 enable
    ipv6 nd dad attempts 0
    ipv6 address 2001:7a8:5a90:1::60/64
    exit
    interface vlan 255
    name Admin
    ip address 172.18.255.1 255.255.255.0
    ipv6 enable
    ipv6 nd dad attempts 0
    ipv6 address 2001:7a8:5a90:255::1/64
    exit
    interface vlan 10
    ip address 172.18.10.253 255.255.254.0
    ipv6 enable
    ipv6 nd dad attempts 0
    ipv6 address 2001:7a8:5a90:1000::2/64
    exit
    hostname sw-48-1g
    clock timezone 2
    And i uploaded it through the web interface , replacing the startup-config.
    After rebooting the device : only the vlan2 ipv6 configuration is used ... all other vlans only respond in IPv4 .
    Did I made something wrong ?
    Regards.

    Supported with Cisco CUCM, phones, etc. if that is your question. Described in SRND.

  • IPv6 configuration

    783570.1 says, "It is possible to configure the Oracle Database and Listener to use both IPv4 and IPv6, but this note covers how to setup the Oracle 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.0) software to use only IPv6 on a Linux system that has both IPv4 and IPv6 configured." Do you know of any documents that show how to configure TNS to answer to both protocols? Thanks.

  • Solaris 10 Configuration

    I am having trouble configuring my internet connection in Solaris 10. I don't really know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

    Did the Solaris 10 installer recognize a supported network device?
    If that is the case, the installer should have prompted you for the
    NIC's configuration. And when you boot Solaris from the harddisk,
    the command "ifconfig -a" should list a network interface in addition
    to the loopback interface "lo0". (And in a next step we can try to
    configure the NIC to access external systems)
    Otherwise, if all that is listed by "ifconfig -a" is the loopback interface
    "lo0", then you have to find a 3rd party NIC device driver (or maybe
    modify / extend the standard Solaris PCI device -> device driver
    bindings), to be able to access the NIC. The command
    /usr/X11/bin/scanpci can help to identify the PCI cards available in
    the system. If you know what kind of ethernet pci hardware is
    present in the system, you can start looking for a Solaris x86
    NIC device driver (e.g. here: http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/index.htm ).

  • Solaris Internet Configuration in VMWare and installation

    Hi !
    I'm really passionate about this unix-solaris thing.
    But these nudges are pulling me back from installing it actually in my hard drive.
    And also there is the Internet configuration problem.
    Problem:1
    I have 2 IDE HDD.
    Primary HDD: 80 GB
    VolumeName-Type-Size
    SystemBoot-Primary/Active/NTFS-100 MB
    Extended Partition:
    VISTA-Logical/NTFS-20 GB
    2008-Logical/NTFS-10 GB
    Data-Logical/NTFS-25 GB
    Music-Logical/NTFS-9.42 GB
    Solaris-Logical/BLANK-10GB .....Blank = No FS. Used Acronis DD10 for it.
    Slave HDD: 40 GB
    Extended Partition:
    XP-Logical/NTFS-10GB
    Fedora9-Logical/ext3-10GB
    SWAP-Logical/SWAP-2GB
    OpenSUSE103-Logical/ext3-15.25 GB
    When I came to HDD configuration stage of installation,
    I selected the pre-selected c0d0(bootdisk) ---Primary HDD/80GB.
    But when I proceeded further it showed me:
    Warning The initial fdisk information found on the disk
    c0d0 was invalid. Defaulting the entire disk to a Solaris partition.
    So I aborted the installation.
    I tried one more time, by changing the Solaris Blank logical drive to a primary partition.
    But it didn't work.
    Now I think Solaris 10 cannot be installed in a logical drive or more broadly speaking(assuming) it cannot be installed in HDD having logical drives,it should be all primary partitions.
    Please help me on this.
    I'm sick of installing it in VMWare.
    Problem: 2
    How am I supposed to configure my network connection.
    I connect to my ISP using WAN Miniport(PPPOE).
    It allots me dynamic IP(v4).
    I read somewhere DNS should f.root-servers.net and in a magazine, a.solaris.net
    I never came across such a thing in even in linux.
    Problem: 3
    If there is not so feasible solution to problem 1, VMWare Workstation comes into play.
    And here too, I need help for configuration of network connection.
    These are the values that I got when I installed Windows XP in the VMWare.

  • EIGRP IPv6 Configuration

    Hoping someone can help me out here.  We have 2-6500 running VSS and also running VRF Lite.  The IOS version we are running is: s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXJ2.  We have recently enabled IPv6 and I am trying to enable "IPv6 router eigrp  x" which works fine but when i try to enable "IPv6 eigrp x" on a Vlan I recieved an unsupported error.  Example below:
    ipv6 router eigrp 1
    eigrp router-id 1.1.1.1
    no shut
    Vlan100
    vrf forwarding DMZ
    ip address 192.1168.1.1 255.255.252.0
    ipv6 address 2444:4444:4444:4444::1/56
    ipv6 enable
    end
    When i enter the "ipv6 eigrp 1" on the  the SVI it errors out.  Any idea's?
    Thanks!

    To use EIGRP as a PE-CE protocol for IPv6 you need to use the named EIGRP configuration.  Please check out the info at the following URL -
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios-xml/ios/iproute_eigrp/configuration/15-sy/ire-ip6-vrf-lte.html.  Note here that this feature is not supported in the release that you mention.  You will need to upgrade to 15.1(1)SY which is the first release to support both the Sup 2T and Sup 720.

    I have the same problem with my laser printer 2605dn.  the color is pale, i replaced the cartridges with original hp's but it did not help.  I also lost the capability of double side printing that I had when I originally loaded the printer drivers.  I noticed this all after I checked the internet for software updates for my printer.  Are there any solutions for these problems?

  • Solaris 10 configuration parameters for Oracle 10g

    Hello all,
    I have installed:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit
    on the latest version of Solaris 10 SPARC. My /etc/project file looks as follows:
    user.oracle:101:Oracle:::process.max-sem-nsems=(privileged,256,deny);project.max-shm-ids=(privileged,256,deny);project.max-shm-memory=(privileged,17179869184,deny)
    I followed the installation guide for 10g and used the max-sem-nsems and max-shm-ids that were recommended. However, the guide was for a 4GB SGA and we are using a 8GB SGA on a machine with 32GB of memory.
    Now, my question is, do those nsem and shm-id parameters hold true for larger SGAs? We are having a problem that, when new oracle shadows are created, any processes that check the /proc table becomes painfully slow.

    As allways kernel parameter could be found in documentation: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/pre_install.htm#sthref258
    Maybe you will be intersted in Werner Pushitz's article "Tuning and Optimizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Oracle 9i and 10g Databases" - http://www.puschitz.com/TuningLinuxForOracle.shtml
    SGA, PGA. If you are not sure with proper sizeing then you can read this document - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/memory.htm#PFGRF014
    Note since 10g there is new feature called "Automatic Shared Memory Management"

  • Solaris Network Configuration

    Hi,
    In solaris7 I am able to connect server from local network.
    But from external network, I could not.
    Where should I configure the server to allow connections from external >networks.
    Thankful to you.

    Hi,
    When you say not able to connect, generally it means ping is not working. This could be due to many reasons. Like:
    1. Firewall or router access list setup at your place.
    2. If there is no firewall, server does'nt know how to route packets to external network. In that case you need to define default route in routing table. ( /etc/defaultrouter ).
    If you need to discuss it further, please mention your e-mail address, I would contact you for resolving this problem.
    Thanks

  • How do I configure ISP native IPv6 connectivity?

    Hi!
    I'm a network engineer for SECOM, an ISP in Southeastern Colorado. We will be making native IPv6 connectivity available to residential subscribers soon, and I've been tasked with verifying support for our IPv6 platform on home router products.
    I have an AirPort Extreme purchased new in November of '09 that is running version 7.5.1, which I believe is completely current.
    Under the IPv6 tab in my Advanced settings, I have the following configuration:
    IPv6 Mode: Router
    Block incoming IPv6 connections: NOT checked
    Configure IPv6: Manually
    WAN IPv6 Address: fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:a000::2
    WAN IPv6 Prefix Length: 64
    IPv6 Default Route: fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:a000::1
    LAN IPv6 Address: fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:c000::1
    (As you can see, I'm using ULA's for testing purposes, and I've replaced the global bits with X's for security.)
    The problem is, if I plug a host into one of the LAN ports and assign it an address from the same /64 subnet (e.g. fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:c000::2), the host can't ping the Airport's assigned LAN address.
    It can ping:
    * the Airport's link-local IPv6 address, and
    * the Airport's IPv4 192.168.x.x address
    Also (and I'm gratified that this part is working), my CE router can ping the Airport's WAN IPv6 address!
    So my question is, is there something in the IPv6 configuration I'm misunderstanding? Has anyone else gotten native statically-configured IPv6 working on the AirPort Extreme?
    Thanks very much in advance,
    John E. / SECOM
    P.S. - I have verified with a packet capture that the AirPort extreme is not responding at all for the configured LAN IPv6 address; i.e., the ICMPv6 neighbor solicitation goes unanswered.
    P.P.S. - I have tried a Windows 7 host, a Windows XP host, and an IPv6-certified multitester from JDSU. All exhibit the same symptoms.

    I have follow your instruction to connect to my ISP as it shows the following message:
    Serial connection established.
    using interface sppp0
    connect: sppp0 <--> /dev/ttya
    local IP address xxxxxxxx
    remote IP address 1.1.1.1
    But when I ping www.sun.com, it shows:
    www.sun.com unknown.
    I start Mozilla and it said www.sun.com not found etc...
    What has gone wrong?
    Do I have to configure some files such as:
    /etc/resolv.conf
    /etc/hosts
    /etc/hostname ?
    or any other steps that can help me to connect to the internet?
    Thanks...

  • IPv6 bridging configuration

    I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n running firmware 7.4.2. Its LAN port is connected to Gigabit Ethernet LAN that provides native IPv6 (i.e. no tunnels required) at a university. My MacBook Pro running 10.6.4 has no problem obtaining a valid IPv6 address automatically when connected to the same Ethernet, so IPv6 is working fine.
    What I would like to do is configure the AEBS to continue to NAT IPv4 traffic, but to bridge IPv6 traffic so that WiFi clients can obtain their own IPv6 address. While I can find endless tutorials around on setting up the AEBS as a tunnel endpoint, I can't find any information on how to bridge IPv6 traffic from LAN to WAN.
    The only IPv6 configuration option is Mode, which can be "Host" or "Tunnel". Since Tunnel is obviously not what I want, I have Host selected, and have Configure IPv6 set to "Automatically". However, when configured this way, my MBP does not get an IPv6 address when solely connected via WiFi to the AEBS.
    Am I missing something? Does the AEBS support IPv6 tunnels, but not (the much easier and hopefully increasingly more common) native IPv6 for wireless clients? Any help would be appreciated.

    It's not working for you because you obviously assumed wrong. Turn on Tunnel mode. Now you should be able to go out using ipv6 on your MBP. Try http://ipv6.google.com/
    If you want to be able to connect from the outside in to your MBP then you need to shut off the ipv6 firewall. I (and nobody else it seems) can't get the ipv6 firewall exceptions to work, so it's either block all or no incoming traffic until Apple fixes this. Turning the ipv6 firewall off obviously exposes your machine to the public ipv6 internet.
    good luck.

  • Question about configuring Global IPv6 address on interface

    It seems when configuring a global IPv6 address on a layer 3 interface, we cannot specify the whole 128 bit address. We can only specify the prefix and leave the last 64 bits to be generated by the router:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios-xml/ios/ipv6/configuration/12-2sx/ip6-addrg-bsc-con.html#GUID-70188E8F-16D2-4DD1-8DE2-70073FF37CC8
    Then how can I specify the router address to the client using DHCPv6? Do I have to keep the router RAs while using DHCPv6 together?
    Thanks.

    Hi Leo,
    Where is it stated in this doc that you can't configure a /128 ?
    Router(config-if)#ipv add 2001::1/128
    Router(config-if)#do sh ipv int lo0
    Loopback0 is up, line protocol is up
      IPv6 is enabled, link-local address is FE80::9CD7:2EFF:FEF0:99FA
      Global unicast address(es):
        2001::1, subnet is 2001::1/128
      Joined group address(es):
        FF02::1
        FF02::2
        FF02::1:FF00:1
        FF02::1:FFF0:99FA
      MTU is 1514 bytes
      ICMP error messages limited to one every 100 milliseconds
      ICMP redirects are enabled
      ND DAD is not supported
      ND reachable time is 30000 milliseconds
    The IOS accepts it on any interface but it will only work for Loopbacks.
    I configured a /126 between 2 serials and it worked without any problem but for prefix-advertisement through RA  to work then you must configure a /64.
    Regards.
