[Solved]Drupal setup

Hi all! I'm new in server applications and I'm trying to install drupal to work with it and make web-pages. I read the wiki for install apache mysql and php, but i have an dude. What is the purpose of the drupal package in the comunity repo? Because,  it install drupal on /usr/share/webapps and I have to copy them to my "Directoryroot" for apache server, doesn't it?
Maybe, someone can explain me how to setup the config in apache to launch drupal, or it's mandatory copy the drupal's directory to "/srv/http/".
Thank's and excuse my English!!

The config will be very similar to that of phpmyadmin which is installed in the same place. I'll quote some of the steps you need to undertake. Make sure you have a working LAMP installation. Give the drupal wiki a lookover for some info.
wiki wrote:Copy the example configuration file to your httpd configuration directory.
     cp /etc/webapps/drupal/apache.example.conf /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-drupal.conf
wiki wrote:
Add the following lines to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
# Drupal configuration
Include conf/extra/httpd-drupal.conf
In /etc/webapps/drupal/.htaccess, comment out deny from all. The line should look like this:
#deny from all
wiki wrote:For Drupal 7, also enable a PDO extension for your database. For MySQL, extension=pdo_mysql.so should be enabled in /etc/php/php.ini
Restart httpd then your drupal install will be available at domain.tld/drupal.

  • [SOLVED]: Grub setup issue

    Hi Arch community !
First, please excuse my (very) (bad) english...
I'm installing the Arch on a new machine, but in the grub installation step, something is blocking me.
    The output says
    grub> root (hd0,2)
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x82
    grub> setup (hd0,3)
Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition
Huh... is really 0x82 an unknown type ? There might be a problem somewhere...
So i look my fdisk :
    # fdisk -l
    /dev/sda1 * 946 25261 195318270 7 HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda2 1 945 7590681 7 HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda3 25262 25784 4200997+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda4 25785 48641 183598852+ 83 Linux
Partition table entries are not in disk order
I agree with this... one redmond, one redmond/backup, one swap and my /.
And they are not in disk order, ok.
I check my menu.lst with thoses informations :
    title Arch Linux
    root (hd0,2)
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda3 ro
    initrd /boot/kernel26.img
It seems to me to be all right ! Where is the problem ?
Do you maybe have an idea ?

    Thank you peart
You are right, (hd0,2) seems to be my swap partition, and (hd0,3) my ext2 one.
I did the change, bu grub is always trying
    root (hd0,2)
    setup (hd0,3)
    with the same errors... strange
SOLVED : That is allright after re-install...
    thank you quand même !

  • [Solved] Hp-setup cannot find my HP Photosmart Plus printer

    Hi all,
I'm trying to set up my HP Photosmart Plus printer. I have an Arch desktop acting as the CUPS server, which I ssh into from my laptop. I've gone through the CUPS installation and linux - linux sharing instructions. When I try to set up the printer through the CUPS web interface, it easily detects and adds my printer. I can access it from my laptop and print stuff fine. However, it will only print out:
**** Unable to open the initial device, quitting.
I discovered that the printer should instead be set up using hp-setup. Running hp-check -t gives this.
Running hp-check --fix prompts to reinstall the printer through hp-setup, and so it removes the printer from CUPS and starts hp-setup -i.
When I select "net" for the connection type (my printer is wireless), it can't find my printer, even though the standard CUPS interface had no problem with this.

  • [Solved] Minimalist setup with no video tearing

    Hello all,
I maybe jumping the gun a bit here (as I still have other issues with flash and can't really test properly - see here), but here goes.
After lots of reading and experimenting, I came to the conclusion that I really like the minimalistic approach of using Openbox and adding stuff as I need (Tint2 etc.).
However, It also came clear pretty soon that should I want to make things look a bit nicer (that is, using some sort of composite manager), I will most likely end with screen tearing to some degree, using one of the non-opengl composite managers (xcompmgr, cairo commgr, compton).
That is when I came across the option of using Compiz as a standalone WM, with no DE, which should solve the problem of tearing and still remain pretty minimalistic.
Compiz, however, if I understand correctly, is going through some development "difficulties" this days (mainly used in-house by Ubuntu).
Bottom line, my options, as I'm aware of, are:
    1. Openbox + no composite manager - should have no tearing, as minimalistic as it gets, a bit rough.
    2. Openbox + some composite manager (most likely compton) - will probably have tearing, still minimalistic, a bit nicer.
    3. Compiz 0.8.8 from repos - not sure, actually, except from the fact that I will probably not have video tearing and that it's a bit outdated as the 0.9.x line is considered stable by Canonicial.
    4. Compiz 0.9.7 (or 0.9.x should I feel adventurous) - I think I've read somewhere the 0.9.x line isn't really suited to be used as a standalone WM, something to do with the absence of Emerald (not too sure, though).
Any input regarding those 4 options is highly appreciated, Adam.

Doesn't matter what video card you have. OpenGL is OpenGL. Older cards support older versions of it, but it should still be enough for basic desktop effects.
I was thinking of using a script that kills (or pauses) the composite manager if the media player window is fullscreen, since video tearing is more noticeable in fullscreen videos than windowed. Maybe adapt this script? Bah. I'm too lazy... Right now I can't be bothered with eye-candy. I used to have the tint2 clock set to right click and left click. One killed xcompmgr and refreshed the desktop and the other one started it, and restarted tint2 (for the true transparency to kick in). It's doable but I kinda gave up on it and went with vanilla Openbox + pseudo-transparency in tint2, guake and aterm because that's the only 3 programs that I wanted transparency in. And I can live without shadows. Easier on the resources too.

  • [SOLVED] Broken setup after upgrading to 2.6.29

    I am running a x86_64 system.
I have been running kernel26-2.6.28.7-2 for a while now. Upgrade to kernel26-2.6.28.8-1 caused some problem for me so I installed the older version from /var/cache/pacman/pkg/. After upgrading day before yesterday to 2.6.29.1, I can boot and login to the system but pretty much nothing works. The obvious problem that I can find out is that everyting is trying to load modules from 2.6.28-ARCH. After logging in even 'uname -r' reports 2.6.28-ARCH. I do have the /lib/modules/2.6.29-ARCH folder with all the modules.
Any help will be much appreciated. I can provide further information if required. Thank you.

I was able to solve it. The problem was I was using grub installed from Ubuntu. So, there was some problem loading the kernel. Installing grub from arch fixed it. Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] Audio setup troubles with usb headphones and built-in sound

    Hello,
I Just started using Arch about a month ago after going through many Debian and Ubuntu variants.  After all my frustrations with apt pinning to get working 10bit video playback, only to have everything else uninstalled by crappy dependency checking, I am extremely happy with how easy it was in Arch.
Now I am having difficulties perfecting my audio setup.  Almost everything else is set up to satisfactory levels but I have yet to bring the sound to the same standard.  With just ALSA my built in audio works, but defaults to the unused hdmi on my nvidia graphics.  I have managed to get it to switch at some point but with ALSA alone I could never get my usb headset to work at all.
By using pulseaudio as well I was able to get simutaneous playback, which is ideal, but had choppiness and other issues with just the usb headset.  I followed some instructions found on the arch wiki and other places on the net for choppiness in both ALSA and pulse and tried the fixes listed in various combinations.  I ended up with outcomes such as pulse not starting, no sound at all, creepy ticking in usb and perfect sound on speakers, and my current situation of perfect sound on speaker and acceptable but tinny sound on usb which degrades over time requiring restart.
Is anyone able to give any advice or point me to any guides I may have overlooked?
Setting up sound from scratch is something I have never done before coming to Arch, so I don't know what commands are useful for audio specifically, but learning is one of the reasons I decided on Arch. As for commands I do know, lspci and lsusb, relevant entries are as follows:
    spricc ~ $ lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF104 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 1532:000e Razer USA, Ltd
USB device is a Razer Megalodon headset, NVIDIA Audio is of no interest to me, unless it is not what i think it is.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

I managed to find a solution.

Following this exactly didnt work before, but setting the sample rate to 192000 instead seems to have done the trick

  • [Solved] mythtv-setup DVB (could not get card info/No such device)

    Update: Solution in post #4.
I'm building a new Arch server which will replace my existing mythtv backend using a HP microserver. Other than my old machine not being updated in some time, the only difference is new box is 64bit. I have 2x Sony PlayTV USB DVB's and have left one plugged into each system.
    [root@oldserver ~]# uname -a
    Linux oldserver 3.5.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 15 13:04:04 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux

    Linux microserver 3.7.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 4 09:15:13 CET 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux
While trying to add my tuners to the new box from mythtv-setup I get the following error in the log and "could not get card info" on the screen in setup:
    2013-02-13 20:27:47.629155 I Current MythTV Schema Version (DBSchemaVer): 1307

Hopefully someone wiser than I can spot the problem here and I can get this build finished
Edit: I should add that I did a trial install of Ubuntu 12.04, upto date as of few days ago and it worked perfectly though I didn't note down what kernel version (was 64bit). Nothing has changed hardware wise.

Try femon -H -a0 while trying to add card in mythtv-setup. Explanation here: http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10830#comment:7
It seems to affect dvb usb devices. I didn't see any evidence of this patch http://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/13563/ in current kernels, but it may have been rewritten. I haven't had to change my card setup and don't have usb tuners, so I haven't hit this problem.
Edit: Found it, ha, just went out yesterday, will be in 3.9: (search for Juergen) http://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/16925/
    That worked great.
I did stumble upon the femon thing at some point but I didn't see any explanation for it and all my googling for femon resulted in a plugin for VDR which totally had me stumped. After your post a tried a slightly different google string and found it was in the linuxtv-dvb-apps package. In hindsight a "pacman -Qo femon" would have given me the answer...
    Thanks for your efforts fphillips.

  • [SOLVED]Plasma setup lost after logout then in

Every time I log out of my KDE session I partially lose my plasmoid setup.  When I login, what I get instead is a set of plasmoids I used previously but changed out.  Also, the plasmoids that I do use is squished down to about 1/4 inch.  I remove the ones I don't want and setup the ones I need, but the result is identical every time.
    I'm using kdemod 4.2.

After trying out your suggestions I checked out the link provided by aglarond and attempted deleting my plasma* files.  When I logged back in the widgets I wanted were in place and the ones I didn't were gone.  The only problem that remains is that a pager applet I have on the desktop still shows up squished.  I suspect that that is an issue with the applet itself.

  • [Solved] Vboxdrv Setup Issue

I've reinstalled kernel26, as well as kernel26-headers. I've tried using Virtualbox-bin and Virtualbox-ose, both of which result in the errors here:

  • [SOLVED] Cannot setup mpd

    Hello!
I'm completely 100% new at linux and am trying to setup mpd. after creating the necessary directories, trying to run mpd in the terminal produces
socket: Failed to bind to '[::]:6600': Address already in use
Someone here resolved it by editing their  /etc/mpd.conf and /.mpd/mpd.conf in each of the separate directiories and matching their settings. I've checked and the settings are already matched for both of my mpd.conf files. mpd doesn't start at login either. What do???

WorMzy wrote:What are you trying to accomplish? Do you need to have having multiple instances of mpd running? If so, you will need to configure the other instances to use a different port.
There was only a single instance of mpd, which I closed. Using ps aux shows
    root 1299 0.0 0.0 9012 1692 pts/1 S+ 03:06 0:00 grep mpd
but I'm unsure if that's a process running and how I would stop it if it was.
Stopping mpd and reenabling it produces

  • SOLVED: ODBC setup without using ORACLE_{HOME,BASE,SID} possible?

    Hi All,
I've installed instant client 11.1.0.6 on RHEL linux.I can connect with sqlplus with connection string like
sqlplus user/pass@//host/service. ORACLE_{HOME,BASE,SID}, TNS_ADMIN are not set. That works fine. Can I achieve the same with odbc and isql? I would like to be able to run isql DSN and all the configuration of the DSN should go into /etc/odbc.ini and I shall not set up ORACLE_{HOME,BASE,SID}, TNS_ADMIN. Is that possible? If yes, how?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Alexander.

    Thank you for the answer!
I tried your recipe and it works! Great!
I wonder if it is possible to take it a step further and connect only providing the DSN and no setup in the environment at all.
All the configuration should be in odbc.ini. Does it make any difference if the application connects using SQLConnect()
    or SQLDriverConnect()?

I'm trying to set up Xinerama for use with Xmonad, but I need some help with my xorg.conf.  I have a thinkpad T40p, with an ati mobility radeon R250 FireGL video card.  I want to use the laptop screen as the default screen, and an external monitor connected to the laptop's VGA port as the second screen.
    Here is my xorg.conf

Below is xrander's output with the external monitor connected:

S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
And here is the xorg log without an xorg.conf in place
I do get output on the second monitor with no xorg conf in place, and with my old xorg.conf, from before I tried setting up for a second monitor.  However, the second monitor is simply a clone of the first, while I want an extended desktop...basically one workspace on each screen in xmonad.  I based my xorg.conf on this link, mainly, which is where the second device, screen, etc sections came from.

  • [solved] Subversion setup problem

    Hello there.
For some reason I need to have subversion installed, configured and working on my server. Something is wrong with my settings because I can't svn co I allaways get:

I've followed this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Svn I've decided that I'll go with subversion with apache2 option.
