[solved]libgtop 2.30 broke g15stats, what do I do?

Libgtop 2.30 broke g15stats I really want to fix it and don't mind digging my hands a little through the source code to do it, I just have little idea what to do with the code (as in what lines to look for)
Long story short:
#g15stats
g15stats: error while loading shared libraries: libgtop-2.0.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
it is my understanding that this file is now called libgtop-2.0.so.10, but symlinking it to libgtop-2.0.so.7 did me no good.
So how do I fix this?
Edit: Silly me, I found out that the package worked fine if I installed it with yaourt. I assume I just had to recompile it, but this is weird because I had already done this, perhaps I needed to have the linux-headers installed for it to work? what was the catch?
I suspect I just had to compile it again.

    Hey All,
    I use Psensor and it seems it requires libgtop-2.0.so.7 but when I check to see if I have libgtop installed, it says that I do.
    Has the updated version of the software stopped creating this wonderful shared object file? And if so, what temperature monitoring devices do you guys recommend? I do love my Psensor though... T_T

There are some common causes of this problem: 1) your configuration path file /etc/gconf/2/path doesn't contain any databases or wasn't found 2) somehow we mistakenly created two gconfd processes 3) your operating system is misconfigured so NFS file locking doesn't work in your home directory or 4) your NFS client machine crashed and didn't properly notify the server on reboot that file locks should be dropped. If you have two gconfd processes (or had two at the time the second was launched), logging out, killing all copies of gconfd, and logging back in may help. If you have stale locks, remove ~/.gconf*/*lock. Perhaps the problem is that you attempted to use GConf from two machines at once, and ORBit still has its default configuration that prevents remote CORBA connections — put "ORBIIOPIPv4=1" in /etc/orbitrc. As always, check the user.* syslog for details on problems gconfd encountered. There can only be one gconfd per home directory, and it must own a lockfile in ~/.gconfd and also lockfiles in individual storage locations such as ~/.gconf

  • [SOLVED] Space in /home is not what I choose during partition

    Hello. I have a very strange problem:
    I installed archlinux two days ago and partitioned as you see here:
    But what I really get is:
    (translated: Content=82Gb, Free Space=108Gb  => Total Space=190Gb)
    The first image is what GParted says to me. The second is what Nautilus file manager display.
    I never seen something like this before. What could be?
    EDIT & SOLVE:
    I just logged in as root and noticed that the free space of my /home was what it has to be. Then I re-logged in as normal user and it was the same.
    It seems to be solved.

    Hi Allan,
    Thanks for the quick reply!
    Should I leave both the HomeHub and the new white Openreach modem switched on, or would you recommend a re-boot of each device at this stage?
    I have left everything as it was when the engineer left the house, and I know excessive switching on/off of the HH will be a problem for the line to stabilise.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

  • My touch screen for new ipad broke down what can ido ?

    my touch screen for new ipad broke down and i live in Saudi Arabia , what can i do ?

    Does it not work at all ? Have you tried a reset to see if that fixes it ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My DVD burning problems solved....here's what I did.

    Like some of you, I was having MAJOR problems burning DVDs. My initial setup was a dual 2.0 ghz G5 purchased in July of last year, so it came with a 8x burner and iLife '04 (iMovie 4.0.1 and iDVD 4.0.1). Seeing as how I have 1.5gigs RAM and a fairly new system running 10.4.3, I didn't think I was going to have any problems burning DVDs....
    HA.
    Nothing worked right......a 1-hour long project burned for more than 8 hours without finishing, or iDVD would quit for no reason, or the burn would fail. I noticed that Terminal said that during these burns it was only burning at 4x even though 47x was requested. Chapters were not working. Applecare was not helpful, only suggesting that I try to burn under a new user, and then call them back. That didn't work either.
    I probably took the lazy man's way out, but I decided this waste of time was unacceptable. I went out and purchased a 16x SuperDrive Pioneer DVR-110D replacement from MCE for $92, and upgraded to iLife '05 for another $79. I installed the drive myself (VERY easy with the included instructions), and tried the new setup under a newly created user.....
    PERFECT burning every time. Not only that, but Terminal showed a requested burn speed of 16x and a burn speed of 16x. A two-hour project is now burning in less than 8 minutes. Multiplexing still takes time, but it's less than 1 hour!
    On an interesting side note: when I try to burn under my regular user name, I STILL get an burning error (says image not complete, or incomplete....something like that). But under the user name created just for burning I have no problems. The chapter problem was solved when I stopped putting a chapter marker at the very beginning of my iMovie projects, since iDVD automatically puts one in called "Beginning," which you can change to anything you want.
    Maybe this will help others.....
    Dual 2Ghz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   1.5 gigs RAM, iMovie 5.0.1, iDVD 5.0.1

    it was only burning at 4x even though 47x was requested.
    That's a issue discussed in the past.
    It turns out that 8X DVD burning means about 47X CD burning - you were requesting 8X DVD but only got 4X DVD burning.
    I haven't seen it discussed anymore so maybe Apple got around to eliminating that 'quirk' in terminology.
    I suspect some of the early 8x DVD burners didn't perform as advertised. I'm glad your new 16X burner is working for you.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome 3.16 broke GDM transition

    Ever since I updated to GNOME 3.16 (which is great by the way) the transition from the GDM to the Shell has been broken. After the GDM fades away there screen gets filled with random colours. This lasts a few seconds, until the Shell is loaded. This did not use to happen on 3.14.
    Is there any way to fix this bug? Does anyone have this issue?

    Well I did have a search before posting, both on DuckDuckGo and this forum itself. I can't seem to find it though.
    Anyway, I'm happy knowing what's causing it. When I run GNOME on Wayland the transition is fixed. Once GNOME on Wayland becomes usable I'll make the switch.
    Thanks!

  • [Solved][KF5 Plasma] I broke my kwallet service

    Hello,
    I think I broke my kwallet service between updates and an attemp to reset it.
    Few week ago, after an update, kwallet started to ask password any time I wanted to connect to a WIFI network.
    As I didn't remember the kwallet password, I clicked "cancel" and entered the WIFI password manually.
    Today I looked for method to reset kwallet and I've done this :
    rm ~/.config/kwalletrc
    mv ~/.local/share/kwalletd ~/.local/share/kwalletd.bak
    Now i briefly see the kwallet password window, without any chance to do anything with that window.
    And I can't connect WIFI network as it doesn't ask for WIFI password anymore.
    kwalletmanager doesn't work :

    Working again.
    mv .kde4/share/config/kwalletrc .kde4/share/config/kwalletrc.bak
    mv .kde4/share/config/kwalletmanagerrc .kde4/share/config/kwalletmanagerrc.bak
    Then reboot and it was ok.

    Some packages may not have been explicitly installed (e.g. difference between pacman -Qet and pacman -Qdt) but I doubt the OP is worried about that nicety at this moment
    Makes no difference when reinstalling a package...
    Also,  "pacman -Qqk" will give you a list of packages with missing files.

  • [SOLVED] How do I find out what packages are installed in a distro?

    Okay. I was running Arch before, but GNOME had a bunch of problems that I couldn't fix myself, so I reformatted and went to Peppermint OS (it's a cloud-based system), and I absolutely love it. Now, the thing is, it's even slower than my Arch system was running GNOME, and it's supposed to be super-lightweight and speedy; but aside from that, I found it's a great distro (I think most of the slowdown is because it's based on Ubuntu and Mint). So, my question: how do I find out which packages are in Peppermint OS so I can emulate the basic environment, except with Arch underneath? Thanks, guys!

    Okay, I guess an hour of Googling wasn't enough, but I just found a site that tells me how to do it! I'll mark this solved, but for anyone else who wants to know, the info is right here: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/find-out-i … -in-linux/ It uses dpkg, which I think is only used on Debian-based systems (correct me if I'm wrong) so it may not work for all distros, but it's a start.

  • [SOLVED] zenity 3.8 broke my scripts

    After updating from zenity 3.6 to 3.8, most of my scripts dont work.
    A little example:
    #!/bin/bash
    title="Server Options"
    prompt="Pick an option:"
    options=("option 1" "option 2" "option 3")
    while opt=$(zenity --width 500 --height 300 --title="$title" --text="$prompt" --list --column="Options" "${options[@]}"); do
    case "$opt" in
    "${options[0]}" ) zenity --info --text "option 1";;
    "${options[1]}" ) zenity --info --text "option 2";;
    "${options[2]}" ) zenity --info --text "option 3";;
    esac
    done
    This normally, when selecting an option should execute: zenity --info --text "option X"
    Now it does not execute anything.
    Downgrading to zenity 3.6 fixes the problem.
    Please, a little help !

    No, .Xauthority is not obsolete, and is in fact an important file of the system.
    No LM manager, inittab is
    x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/xdm -nodaemon
    Actually you are using a login manager, which is xdm in your case.
    Well, xdm should be creating an .Xauthority file, but it isn't. And i have no idea, why it isn't.
    Now you can investigate why xdm isn't doing so, or maybe try slim or something similar and see if they do create the file.

  • [solved] format a zfs drive to what, with what

    Im going to rebuild my zfs array, and im not sure i did it right the first time.  Can somebody please point out to me what command line tool to use, and what filesystem i need to be putting on there?  I once thought it was a zfs file system, but is this just a layer on top of another filesystem?  I clearly remember not having to format the drives last time i build an array, and they had been ext3 if i remember correctly, not sure if i wiped them agan after that. Is this normal, wrong, or what am i missing?
    note, my drives have GPT partition tables.
    Edit: a thought, since ZFS can use GPT partition table, and if i created the Partition to use the entire disk using gdisk, then is that all that is needed?  shoudl i have stopped there, or do i need to do some kind for formatting?

    Zfs uses the disk as is, that means there is no need to create a partition, or filesystem. Just clean the drives with dd and use zpool create afterwards.
    Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ZF … orage_pool
    EDIT: Remember to add all you drives to the command, for example like this:
    RaidZ1:
    zpool create tank raidz1 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd /dev/sde
    There are lots of examples on the manpage of zpool.
