I'm Vietnamese and I 'm learning English.
I install OALD8, it works but I can't use iwritter.
It shows:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so [libnssutil3.so.1d: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]
and several libs as libnspr4.so.0d libplc4.so.0d

Edit: thank moderator ^^!

Hi all !
I  solved all problem by using:
after installing OALD8:
ln -s libplds4.so libplds4.so.0d
ln -s libnspr4.so libnspr4.so.0d
ln -s libplc4.so libplc4.so.0d
You must create file run-dict.sh:
#!/bin/sh
export MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=/path/oald8/plugins
padsp /path/oald8/oald8
and run it. But resources can not run because command .launch() not run in xulrunner on unix/Linux
You can change line 31 in "chrome/oald8/content/js/resources.js":
L_File.launch(); -> pdf_program L_File;
also, OALD8 uses browsers in range:
opera->konqueror->galeon->mozilla-> netscape
If you don't use them, you can create symlink from your browser to it.
I hope this help.
Kind regards,
NgoHuy

  • The Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 8th edition. Integration into the spotlight

    Hello there!
I have just purchased and installed the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, 8th edition, from App Store. Does anyone know how to integrate it into the spotlight?

Someone else here may have other suggestions, but I was able to find the following information on Oxford's support site. It may fix your problem, though it doesn't specifically address sound not playing (it does for the Mac version). I'd suggest you keep the old plugin files until you verify that the new plugins don't cause worse problems.
    Q. I have QuickTime 7 for Windows installed. Why do I get an error message "Quicktime plug-in requires the Quicktime system extension version 5 or later" when starting the OALD7 Compass CD-ROM?
    A. The Compass CD-ROM was developed before QuickTime 7 was released, and there are some incompatibilites which can be fixed as follows:
If it is open, close the OALD7 Compass application.
    Download the pluginsQT7win.zip patch file
In the directory where OALD7 is installed (usually c:\Program Files\Oxford\OALD7\), there is a directory called plugins - delete all the files in the plugins directory.
Move pluginsQT7win.zip into the now empty plugins folder, and unzip the 4 files there.
Sound should now be working - if you have any further problems or queries, please email the helpdesk.
    I hope this helps.

  • I have a new email address. My partner still has the old one. I downloaded Oxford Dictionary using original email. Now my Ipad shows I have an update for it but even when I sign into using the original email and password I get "cannot connect to store

I have just got a new password and my partner has my old one. I loaded several apps onto my new Ipad. I now have an update on my Oxford Dictionary App. It will not update using my new ID and password and will not update using my former ID and password. All I get is "cannot connect to Itune Store. If I delete App  and reinstall under new name - no problem with other apps- but I don't want to pay another $59.00 for the Dictionary. How do I get Itune store to allow the update?

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. If you use a new ID, you have to buy again.

  • Where i can get or download Oxford dictionary .udl file ?

I am ganesh from Pondy. I have doubt. Where can i get Oxford dictionary .udl file?. i am using default system dictionary. Most of the words are not properly broken as in Oxford dictionary. Please help me out.

I don't know if you can get any form of the Oxford English Dictionary as a udl, but....
Remember, the dictionary InDesign choses for a particular string of text is determined by the language of that text, and this is set as a character level attribute. Is it possible you don't have the right language setting selected in the character pallet, or in your text styles?

Hi I bought the oxford dictionary app a while ago and it worked fine . Now with the new iOS it starts and closes instantly. I don't want to buy it again. Who can I turn to?

Try closing the app via the device's multitasking bar and see if it works when you re-open the app : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
If the app still doesn't work then try deleting the app from your device and redownload it (assuming that it's still in the store) via the Purchased tab in the App Store app - or resync it from your computer's iTunes (if you don't have a copy of the app in the Apps part of your computer's iTunes library then copy it over via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases before deleting it).
If that also doesn't get it to work then contact the developer.

  • Failed install multiple times - Oxford dictionary?

I'm attempting to install 10.4 on a iBook G4 1.2ghz. Each time I attempt it, the install gets about 10 minutes in and then halts abruptly saying, "Errors occured during the installation. Please try again."
I first attempted a zero all data reformat. That didn't work and the check finds no problems with the disk itself. The last time it failed, I checked the install log and there were two errors, both at exactly the same time. The first was text I didn't understand, the second said that the Oxford English Dictionary was not installed because of errors.
The install disc is brand new, I bought it yesterday and used it to upgrade another machine in my family (bought the family pack). Is the Oxford English Dictionary really turning my iBook into a paperweight with a screen? Anyone have any ideas how I might get around this?
    Thanks for your help.

Tried the install a second time. This time the error came during the Epson printer drivers. Is it possible that this disc works fine for upgrades but may be too damaged for a clean install? Or is it more likely a problem with the DVD drive (it's been having issues ejecting discs).

  • Cannot download oxford dictionary on iPad

On the iPad (ios7), when I try to manage dictionaries, I get with some dictionaries (oxford, apple) not a cloud-with-arrow icon, but only a circle, and I cannot download the dictionary. This situation arose after I clicked the icon 'cross' of the dictionaries. It was not my intertion to delete them, but apparently I have. How to get them back? Please help.

I have the same problem. It manifested the minute I upgraded my iPad 3 to iOS 7. Newer updates of iOS 7 have not addressed this bug at all and, therefore the problem persists. I'll repeat the symptom: when I select a word that I need to have defined, the dialogue box comes up empty. I'm given the option to search the web or to "manage". When I select "manage", I'm taken to the list of dictionaries. I have previously downloaded 4 dictionaries (English, Spanish, French, Italian). On my iPad (not so on my iPhone) all of these dictionaries display with a circle to the right. None of these "corrupted" dictionaries responds to touch gestures. They are literally frozen. In contrast, dictionaries that I have not downloaded display a cloud with an arrow pointing downward. A dictionary that has been downloaded and is functioning properly should have an "x" displaying to the right of it. A circle to the right that does not respond is an indication that this dictionary is corrupted and unusable due to, I'm convinced, a bug in iOS 7. I have tried all the tips given by amateurs and techies alike. I have searched the web extensively for a solution. Nothing has worked. I have deleted my iBooks App on both my iPad and iPhone many times, rebooted my devices, reloaded iBooks first on one device then on the other. When that didn't work, I changed the order of installation between devices, all to no avail. I deleted iBooks from my iPad and only ran it on my iPhone 5. The dictionaries worked fine. I deleted iBooks from my iPhone 5 and had it loaded only on my iPad. Again, the dictionaries behaved in the same way: they were unusable and unresponsive (circle to the right). No combination of delete, re-download, use Notes, reset the keyboard language, reset my global device language, etc. worked.
Isn't it telling that this problem does not manifest at all when reading a book in iBooks on my iPhone 5. On the iPhone, the dictionaries work perfectly well. So, what is it, then, about the iPad code that is causing this behavior. Is it an incompatibility issue with the device itself? More importantly, why has Apple not addressed this matter. Surely we 3 or 4 people complaining about this particular issue aren't the only ones who read books in iBooks or who have complained. But to talk to Apple Tech Support, they will readily tell you that "no one has ever brought up this issue prior to this call." Really? Even more egregious is the thought that Apple employees perhaps don't use their own devices. Don't they read? How is it that they have not detected this problem? Or, are they so super intelligent that none has ever had to utilize their own dictionary utility to look up a word? Obviously, this is not a priority issue to Apple or, worse, they don't know how to fix it and it's easier to simply let every one of us thing that we are the first to ever report it. How disappointing!

By following Arch wiki instructions, I've installed CUPS, and related packages for my printer. I've configured CUPS (Adding user to lp group and setting SystemGroup root lp) and restarted it. First, I've tried to install drivers using hp-setup method. There was a python related problem, so I've found solution for this with these commands

    export PATH
Then I've tried to install again using command

  • [SOLVED] ttf-ms-win8 installation issues -- font verification failing

When I try to install the ttf-ms-win8 font package, using fonts I've copied from my Windows 8 installation, the build fails, with the issue being "One or more files did not pass the validity check". The fonts that failed the validity check are "calabril.ttf" and "calibrili.ttf", both of which I copied directly from my Windows 8 install.
I've tried just commenting them out in the PKGBUILD but I couldn't find the other references to it that apparently exist because the install later failed because those files weren't present.
I've looked for the fonts online to see if maybe one of those versions will work, but so far, no luck. I don't mind not having those two fonts, I just want the whole thing to build.
Edit: I tried copying them from another one of my Windows 8 installations, validity check also failed on them. So I think my best course of action would be to just remove calibril and calibrili from the install.
Edit2: I just found the corresponding md5sums from the end of the file and commented them out. Package installed fine!

Or update the *sum arrays with updpkgsums.
