I had an issue like this during an update several months ago.  Reflector was the problem package and the existing files were owned by reflector.  I think it's worth mentioning since reflector is also a python package.  Anyway, iirc I simply removed and reinstalled reflector.
Unfortunately, it won't be so easy for you since pyastpi is part of a dep-chain leading to gnome-shell... looks like you're going to have to figure out how to do it the right way

  • [SOLVED] Pacman trying to install 64-bit packages on 32-bit system

    I was upgrading my Arch Linux i686 install, and I got the following error:
    error: The mirror 'http://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch' contains the $arch variable, but no Architecture is defined.
    I added Architecture = i686 to /etc/pacman.conf under [options], and when I run pacman -Syu, I get these errors:
    error: failed to prepare transaction (package architecture is not valid)
    :: package clucene-2.3.3.4-2-x86_64 does not have a valid architecture

    Why is pacman trying to install x86_64 packages on my i686 system?

  • [SOLVED] Pacman unable to install packages due to invalid or corrup...

    Hullo,
    I know this is a common error judging by the results google lists for that subject. But all sollutions I found don't work for my specific case.
    My battery died on my laptop and when I rebooted and tried to install a package pacman complained the database was locked (can't remember if I was installing something or else while my battery died, happend while I was away).
    So since I've just rebooted I deleted the lock-file by hand. Now when ever I tried to install something it would complain:
    error: xyz: signature from "xyz @ zyx" is unknown trust
    :: File /var/cache/pacman/pkg/packagexyz.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).
    Do you want to delete it? [Y/n] y
    error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
    So I removed /etc/pacman.d/gnupg, cleared the package-cache and ran pacman-key --init:
    gpg: /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
    gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
    gpg: Generating pacman keyring master key...
    gpg: key B99666F8 marked as ultimately trusted

    followed by pacman-key --populate archlinux:
    ==> Appending keys from archlinux.gpg...
    gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    ==> Updating trust database...
    gpg: no need for a trustdb check
    and pacman-key --refresh-keys:
    gpg: refreshing 1 key from hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net
    gpg: requesting key B99666F8 from hkp server pool.sks-keyservers.net

    gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    gpg: Total number processed: 0
    ==> ERROR: A specified local key could not be updated from a keyserver.
    It looks like it's not doing much. Anyway, trying to install packages or upgrading the system results in me having to import a bunch of keys and then failing with the before mentioned error.
    Anything I can do?
    Thanks

  • [SOLVED]Pacman try to install old version packages which not exists

    When I tried to install django, pacman reported 404 error.
    And I found that pacman tried to install django-1.4.3-1 while the resposity I used only has django-1.4.4-1
    I've deleted all resposities except
    Server = http://mirrors.163.com/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
    And then I tried
    pacman -Syy
    but it seems useless.

    I think this topic can be marked as SOLVED. Should I mark it or the administrator will do this?(In fact I do not know how to mark it.:))
    You shouldn't use ftp.archlinux.org, it's throttled. Use another mirror instead.
    I just use ftp.archlinux.org occacionally to fix the problem.
    Sometimes I don't want to wait the mirror updating itself.

  • [Solved] pacman won't update kernel

    Hi, I create a base image that I clone to build from, it has nothing added but 'base-devel', earlier I installed an XFCE install, I went to create another from the same base image, when I install nvidia it told me in both cases that it needed a newer kernel 3.1.4, so I ran
    pacman -Syu
    . This morning this solves the problem, right now it states that it has nothing to update (it's made from the same image) and nvidia won't install stating it needs that upgrade. I shuffled mirrors around to see if it helped but it didn't. Anyone have an idea of why this is occurring?
    thanks in advance for your help.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman won't look up gpg keys

    Ever since I upgraded gnupg/gpgme today, pacman won't look up (or rather fail looking up) any missing GPG keys. Relevant part of pacman's output:
    debug: checking signature for /var/cache/pacman/pkg/privoxy-3.0.19-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz
    debug: 1 signatures returned
    debug: fingerprint: C06086337C50773E
    debug: summary: key missing
    debug: status: No public key
    debug: timestamp: 1328647189
    debug: exp_timestamp: 0
    debug: validity: unknown; reason: Success
    debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
    debug: signature is not valid
    debug: looking up key C06086337C50773E locally
    debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
    error: privoxy: key "C06086337C50773E" is unknown
    debug: looking up key C06086337C50773E remotely
    debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
    debug: looking up key 7C50773E remotely
    debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
    debug: gpg error: End of file
    error: key "C06086337C50773E" could not be looked up remotely
    error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    Failing to import the key directly through pacman, I tried
    pacman-key --recv-key C06086337C50773E
    which successfully added the key to my keyring.
    I could then install the package. I also tried switching to different keyserves, but without success.
    Everything pacman{, -key} related worked fine until the update, but I can't say for certain that it was the gnupg/gpgme update that broke something.
    Does anyone else have this issue or is there something wrong with my setup? I already thought of opening a bug report, but I want to make sure it's not my fault.
    btw: Hi, everyone :)

    This wasn't explicitly stated above, but to do the manual import with pacman-key, I had to prefix the fingerprint with 0x, as so:
    $ sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED
    However, the default keyserver is giving me problems currently:
    $ sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED
    Password:
    gpg: requesting key F53A76ED from hkp server keys.gnupg.net
    gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect: End of file
    gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    gpg: Total number processed: 0
    ==> ERROR: Remote key not fetched correctly from keyserver.
    So in the end, I used a different keyserver:
    sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED --keyserver hkp://subkeys.pgp.net
    Hope that helps anyone else.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman won't update and hangs

    Hey,
    After logging in a while ago I found out that pacman hangs in a very weird way.
    Don't mind the czech locale, the output should be pretty clear anyway.
    [root@meph-ntb meph]# pacman -Syy
    :: Synchronizuje se databáze balíčků...
    core 55,0K 4,2M/s 00:00:00 [############################################################] 100%
    extra 809,5K 8,1M/s 00:00:00 [############################################################] 100%
    community 449,5K 6,7M/s 00:00:00 [############################################################] 100%
    multilib 26,7K 2,8M/s 00:00:00 [############################################################] 100%
    [root@meph-ntb meph]#
    Seems alright. But then...
    [root@meph-ntb meph]# pacman -Syy
    :: Synchronizuje se databáze balíčků...
    And hangs here. Every other attempt at -Syy hangs like this, until next reboot. And after the reboot it again seems alright at first, but 2nd and every other attempt hangs.
    Pacman -Syu behaves in a similar way. First time after reboot it does sync the database and then hangs when it says retrieving packages. When I try again, it hangs on database sync.
    Tried changing mirror (long shot, I know), didn't help. Even tried without X running, didn't work. Also pacman.log is clear.
    Any ideas?

    I don't know why, but the problem seems to be gone after a few hours. I didn't change mirrorlist, and it hasn't changed since last time the update worked fine either. I'm still curious what caused the problem, but can't think of a way to find out.

    I can't see anything suspicious (except that I still need to set up Reflector, but that's another issue, it's a fresh install). Anyway, sorry for the false alarm.

  • Pacman: strange handling of newer packages when updating

    I've upgradedto Xorg 7.1 packages from the testing/ repository and now when I run pacman -Syu... well it correctly reports:
    :: libgl-dri: local (6.5rc1-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/6.4.2-2)
    :: mesa: local (6.5.1rc1-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/6.4.2-1)
    :: xf86-input-keyboard: local (1.1.0-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/1.0.1.3-1)
    :: xf86-input-mouse: local (1.1.1-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/1.0.4-1)
    :: xf86-video-ati: local (6.6.2-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/6.5.8.0-1)
    :: xorg-server: local (1.1.1-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/1.0.2-3)
    :: Above packages will be skipped.  To manually upgrade use 'pacman -S <pkg>'
    And that's fine, BUT... I also have installed fixesproto-4.0-2 from testing/ and pacman -Syu tries to downgrade it to 3.0.2-2 from current/.
    Is it a bug in pacman that thinks 3.0.2-2 > 4.0-2 ?
    (I tried renaming fixesproto-4.0-2 to fixesproto-4.0.0-2 in /var/lib/pacman/local , and edited the version in desc, but that didn't help -  although pacman -Q shows the new version)
    Pacman is v2.9.8

    Thanks phrakture, that explains it, it's good to know it's not a bug in pacman. BTW why is that force=y needed?
    chrismortimore, there's nothing special in my pacman.conf - except that testing is put last.
    It is only an issue because you are using partial testing packages, which is not recommended.
    well, I can only test some packages at a time, not the whole bunch... I still need the computer for work..
    I only upgraded Xorg-server because: I knew I can get away with only several packages from testing/ and wanted to know if there are improvements in the mach64 driver, since sometimes when moving the mouse I see like a ghost flicker of the cursor. That iritates... alas 7.1 didn't help, EXA doesn't add much and EXA + RenderAccel hangs the X server.

  • [SOLVED] pacman: grep database for specific packages?

    $ pacman -Ss zsh
    extra/grml-zsh-config 0.9.1-1
    grml's zsh setup
    extra/zsh 5.0.2-4 [installed]
    A very advanced and programmable command interpreter (shell) for UNIX
    community/zsh-lovers 0.8.3-2
    A collection of tips, tricks and examples for the Z shell.
    community/zshdb 0.08-2
    A debugger for zsh scripts.
    $ pacman -Ss zsh | cut -s -d/ -f2 | grep '^zsh ' | cut -d' ' -f1
    zsh
    I'm trying to grep pacman output for a specific packages (not just zsh) and receive only the package name as it was passed to pacman as a output (if it exists in the repos that is, otherwise blank / exit 1). The above command works fine in the terminal but when I'm trying to use it from a bash script it only returns blanks. How come?
    Simplified version of the script:
    tank (zsh ksh)
    for x in ${tank[*]}; do
    echo $x
    present=$(pacman -Qs ${x} | cut -s -d/ -f2 | grep '^${x} ' | cut -d' ' -f1)
    echo $present
    done
    I expect it to return output of a pacman command in the second echo (or blank if there's no packgae like that).
    edit: change of title.
    2nd edit: added simplified script.

    And consider using

    Brilliant! Much leaner. However it still doesn't work from a script:
    tank=(zsh)
    for x in ${tank[*]}; do
    echo $x
    present=$(pacman -Ssq '^${x}$')
    echo $present
    done
    Second echo returns blank... Am I quoting something wrong?

  • Pacman: Can't install any packages

    I can't use pacman at all any more.
    Whenever I try to install any kind of package, it comes up with
    foo package not found, searching for group...
    error: 'foo': not found in sync db
    And yes, I tried it with other pkgs I definitely know exist. (Eg.: 'pacman -S bash' returns 'bash not found')
    I can run pacman commands, such as
    pacman -Syu
    which "seems" to be working fine. It's telling me that my system is up to date (which could be true or not?).
    When I
    pacman -Syy
    it starts out normal
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    core 267.2K 343.2K/s 00:00:00 [#######---] 70%
    it does core, then extra, but weirdly in the same line, overwriting the core text. Then the same for community, seemingly stopping at 80%, but actually finishing the command without an error mesage. So I end up with something that looks like this:
    jack jack # pacman -Syy
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    jack jack # 267.2K 343.2K/s 00:00:00 [#######---]80%
    /var/log/pacman.log shows the event:
    [2009-12-01 18:38] synchronizing package lists
    My pacman.conf only refers to /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist for all repos and I have only one mirror uncommented in mirrorlist. The server is up and running and up to date (I'm using ftp://locke.suu.edu) and I can reach it by any other means (ping, ftp, and browser). Tried different mirrors as well but same results.
    My /var/lib/pacman/local is untouched and healthy.
    Tried
    updatedb
    to no avail.
    pacman -Q lists all my local packages
    I'm running Pacman 3.3.3
    Edit: Also just reinstalled pacman and pacman-mirrorlist from manually downloaded packages, just for the sake of it: no change.
    Anybody any idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance

    As I pointed out in my first post, I tried multiple mirrors. Usually I'm using mirror.aarnet.edu.au, but have also tried the locke.suu.edu, which is in the States, plus some other random ones. All with the same result.
    I'm quite glad that I'm not the only one with this problem. However, I'm unsure what might be the casue of it. If it's pacman, I would expect a lot more people complaining.
    So I'm kind of lost here.
    Any form of input would be much appreciated.
    EDIT: Now this is amazing!!! Just tried flamelab's suggestion to use the mir.archlinux.fr mirror and it works. How (un)cool is this. Now I'm doubley confused.
    Thanks flamelab!

    Greetings,
    My nokia Lumia 620 is stuck at "pending" when I try to install new apps or update existing apps on my phone from the store. I even tried unistalling and reinstalling but still was stuck at pending. That's it no error message, no crashes. it just waits for ever and it never starts downloading
    I have a nokia Lumia 920 and it works fine with the same sittings and downloads from the same Wi-Fi - What's wrong and how do I fix it?
    I'm not a forums guy but I posted this because I couldn't find my problem anywhere on the internet, so I'm really desperate. I need the phone fixed ASAP.
    Thanks.

    take a look at this
    http://www.nokia.com/ie-en/support/product/lumia620/troubleshooting/
    if the battery is completely dead, just keep the phone connected to the charger, and wait about 30 mins before trying to turn it on
    and fyi, if the charger is not powerful enough, lumia phones can drain the battery even if it's connected to the charger
    also dont forget to take a look at this:
