[solved] Presentation with movies

Hi guys,
in the next weeks I will have to prepare a presentation which will have regular slides but also movies as part of the slides.
I've been trying to add movies to OpenOffice Impress, I managed to install the Java Media Framework but I couldn't install jffmpeg on it as it seems not supported under x86_64..
So, the only thing I've been able to add on an OpenOffice Impress presentation is an MPEG1 video file whose I only ear the sound.. video doesn't display.
It really looks that Impress support for videos is poor.
So, what do you guys suggest? Do you know of other ways of adding videos to OpenOffice Impress?
Other alternative ways of doing that?
Thank you,
Fabio Varesano

It turned out that Okular does supports movies in a PDF presentation made with Latex beamer. Great!
Example code for a slide with a movie:
\frame{\frametitle{FreeIMU on a quadcopter}
\begin{center}
\movie[width=4in, height=2.8in, showcontrols=true]{}{4copter_freeimu.avi}
\end{center}
The file "4copter_freeimu.avi" have to be in the same folder of the resulting PDF file.
Thanks everybody for your help!

  • Exporting presentation with movie clips .

I want to export for sending to CD but movie pictures end up twice as long and freeze after playing.
The movie clip was created from FCP and also iMovie.
I have added a transition to the movie slide and this seems to cause the problem. It appears to double the length of the slide (if original movie was 5 secs it becomes 10secs).
I need the CD to run the presentation automatically.
The export is for QuickTime, Manual advance, Full Quality,Large .
I have spent 2 days on this and I am going crazy, not sleeping! You know it all!
    Help please.
I hate to mention this but I tried the same thing in PowerPoint (ugh) but the result was the same.
    Products iMac and

Presumably you are creating a self playing movie:
1- Inspector > Transitions > start transition select; automatically and set the delay to match the duration of the video
2- in the export dialogue box, delete the slide duration values. The timing from each slide will be now used instead.

  • Saving a powerpoint presentation with audio as a movie

    Hi there
I'm stumped. have a powerpoint presentation with embedded audio and would like to save it as a movie for upload.
any recommendations on how to do this?
I tried the powerpoint 'save as movie' command but it didn't preserve the timings or audio.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
If the PowerPoint presentation is self-running (you've set the presentation to use the timings you rehearsed), the only way I know of is to use video capture software. PowerPoint's export movie command seems more or less useless. One recommended by MacWorld is Snapz Pro X2 w/video capture. I've used it successfully to capture a 30 minute presentation complete with 44.1 hz/16 bit CD quality audio narration/score at 1200 x 900 resolution. This is on a Unibody MacBook Pro, which is rather impressive, given the computer is both playing the presentation and capturing both video and audio and saving to disk. However, there are other video capture apps that might also work, such as iShowU HD. I've only used Snapz Pro so far.

  • Can't play presentation with music

    Hi:
I have Adobe Reader X (Spanish) and latest Flash Player installed.
In Edit - Preferences - Multimedia of Adobe Reader X, I set as default player "Adobe Flash Player" since I don't have Windows Media Player or Quick Time installed in my computer.
I'm trying to play a PDF presentation with sound. The same presentation but without sound runs OK. Slides changes fine in auto mode.
But when trying to play it (sound is a .mp3 audio sample) a Javascript windows appears saying "Adobe Error playing this multimedia clip".
A friend in another computer with also Adobe reader X can play the file OK. Sound is playing fine. But he has as default player Windows Media Player.
So maybe it's a wrog configuration of Adobe Reader or Flash Player?
    How can I solve problem?
    Best Regards
    Gustavo

    Hi Dave:
Thanks for your reply. It's very clear. But as I understand., Adobe Reader X has the built-in (embedded copy of) Flash Player, so nothing more is needed, and if I trust the document I want to open, by clicking the document message bar, and/or setting trust options, the legacy playback should be available, Yes?
But in my case doing the two options for trusting, javascript windows appears and presentation plays without sound.
In properties of the PDF file I want to run, only PDF Version 1.5 appears.
I'm just new in all these and maybe I'm asking silly things. Sorry about that.
    Regards

  • Big Blunder with movies in iPhoto '08 and web galleries

I've just upgraded to iLife '08 and found a REALLY BIG BLUNDER in the use of movies with iPhoto and the web gallery. As it is, the new 10GB limit won't be enough for diddly squat of movie hosting.
I've got a Canon A640 that saves to .JPG and .AVI formats. iPhoto opens a gallery with them just fine.
But .AVI movies take up ~50MB per minute of video. A 2 minute movie I made is about 100 MB, while a 9 minute movie is 550MB in size. So while it's fine to view them on your desktop, you do NOT want to upload them!
However, iPhoto has no ability to convert .AVIs to any other formats.
I went into iMovie and manually selected each .AVI clip and Exported it as "medium" to my local drive. Ok, this gets you a .m4v file that's much more workable.
Going back to iPhoto ... uh, gee, "iPhoto cannot recognize that file format".
The new iMovie can export exactly ONE format -- .m4v -- and iPhoto thinks it's an iTunes file and won't work with it. Thanks a lot guys. What movie format IS iPhoto expecting to use, exactly?
I went over to the Apple store and presented my dilemma to one of the geniuses there, and the ONLY solution he could recommend was to get a license for Quicktime Pro and use it to do the conversion to .MP4. But, even then, iPhoto won't recognize .MP4 files in your folder. You have to explicitly import them. Again, iPhoto seems to like movies, but ... in what formats?
As an aside, MP4 files are smaller than M4V files, but the additional compression takes quite a toll on the image quality.
I filled up two 4GB SD chips with a couple dozen photos and several movies. The way iPhoto works right now, the only way to get these movies onto a .Mac gallery is to upload them directly, which is NOT a good idea! They take up an ENORMOUS amount of disk space, take FOREVER to upload, and I doubt users will find it very fun waiting for a 500MB download to view them (which download will take longer than the length of the video being viewed).
iPhoto needs a way to recognize .AVI files and STRONGLY discourage you from uploading them -- offering instead to convert them to something more useful, like .M4V format, WITHOUT having to swith over to iMovie or use Quicktime or some other program to do the conversion.
It also needs a way to tell it to handle other movie file format besides .AVI files.
    Thanks
    -David

Errrr.... you guys are totally missing the point.
Apple sells little Canon cameras, and they have them sitting right next to just about every Mac in the store. Ever noticed them? Maybe you own one? (I suspect not because you probably would have noticed this already if you did.)
These Canon cameras take two types of images: stills are .JPGs and movies are .AVIs. Got that?
JPGs are compressed and "ready to use".
AVIs are UN-compressed and NOT "ready to use". You can play them locally and they look fine. But there's not much to tell you they're HUGE FILES. When I say "huge", I'm taling 50 MEGA-BYTES PER MINUTE huge. That means a measley 2 minute clip is 100 MEGA-BYTES in size. OK? Now, what's the download rate on your iPhone? How long will it take you to view a 2-minute AVI file? But, surely, nobody is dumb enough to load them onto their Web Gallery, right? Keep on reading.
See, when you connect the camera to the computer, most people have their system set to open something like iPhoto or Aperture when the camera is connected. Agreed? (Maybe YOU don't, but LOTS of people DO.)
Notice that you can choose to have iMovie or Final Cut Pro or something else launch when you plug the camera in as well. It's up to you. Most people launch iPhoto - or Aperture if they've got it.
It so happens that iPhoto '08 loads in in BOTH sets of files. Why in the world iPhoto is happy reading in AVI files is beyond me, considering it won't recognize M4V files and has to be slapped to get it to take MP4 files. But it happily reads AVI files with no problem.
Now, if you've got your iPhoto set to AUTOMATICALLY SYNCHRONIZE with your WEB GALLERY, what happens?
Well, if you're like me and you filled two 4-GIGA-BYTE Flash cards with movies, and iPhoto launches (like when you plug the camera or flash memory into the computer) and starts to SYNCHRONIZE with your WEB GALLERY, what's gonna happen?
Did you actually TELL it to upload those files? NOPE! But it DID!
Several HOURS LATER your computer will finish UPLOADING 8 GIGA-BYTES of MOVIES to your WEB GALLERY! And if you interrupt it, well, it'll happily start over when you turn the computer back on again.
That's really nice since .Mac now has a 10 GByte limit. Two and a half 4-GB flash cards will fill up your .Mac account if you shoot movies with your Canon camera, have iPhoto set to launch when you attach your camera, and/or have it set to automatically synchronize with your web gallery.
All I'm saying is that if iPhoto is going to work with movie files, it should NOT blindly upload AVI files, NO WAY. I'd much prefer it if it would let you apply some kind of compression to them, eg., turn them into MP2 files. (MOV files are even bigger than AVI files, from what I can tell.)
We're not talking about what you THINK about doing. We're talking about the DEFAULT BEHAVIOR of the program for a VERY COMMON SCENARIO -- that you don't HAVE to think about.
So it's very possible that while you're happily editing your AVI movies in iMovie or Final Cut, iPhoto is happily sitting in the background uploading the same files to your Web Gallery. And you are clueless.
    Is that making sense now?

  • Problem on mb1b with Movement type 309

when I use the t-code mb1b to transfer posting with Movement type 309,the system give a hint 'Account 40000000 requires an assignment to a CO object'. I checked the configuration of omwb and obyc.It seems no problem.
So can anyone tell me how to solve the problem? Thanks!

    Hi
Alternative to the above solution will tell u which should work,it seems from the error that you need to put the Cost Center or G/L account. But if you don't want
the system to ask you everytime you do the goods transfer, you have to setup
your Cost Element / CO object. Go to transaction KA02 and put the
appropriate CO or Cost Element (when the system gave you the warning,
normally it gives you the CO object that need account assignment) and
assign the Default Acc.Assigment to the CO/Cost Element.
But before you do that, I suggest you to contact your FICO people.
    Good luck

  • How to use content presenter with a multilanguage site

I would you like to know if it's possible to manage a content presenter with multi language ? Normally, if i would show a content with a template view , i choose a UCM content to the parameter interface of the content presenter. Anybody has found a solution to found automatically the right content when i choose a another language. For example, i create a content presenter associated to a English content on UCM , is it possible when the user changes his language to spanish for example to have the related content in spanish or not ?

There are a few options to do this but it requires quite a lot of customizations. Unfortunatly there is no out of the box solutoins to tackle this issue.
First of all you have to make sure the content in UCM is related to each other so when you have a document in english, you can easily find the same document in another language. This can be based upon additional meta fields or by using the related content component.
You probably also want to setup a workflow so when an english (or any language) document is checked in, the workflow kicks in and notify some other users so they know they have to translate that document.
In Webcenter you have to make sure that the content presenter can show content based upon language. Normaly you can't realy build dynamic queries in the content presenter and when you select all the content from a folder, there is no way to add filters based upon language.
In order to solve this issue, you can use the personalization server. By creating a scenario that takes the language as an input parameter (or by just querying the profile) you can build a dynamic CMIS query that can be used to power the content presenter. When you have configured the personalization server and create a scenario, you will be able to select that scenrio in the content presenter instead of selecting items or folder.
It's quite a bit of work to make it multilingual but currently this is the only solution i have found...

  • Customize Adobe Presenter presentation with satisfaction evaluation on exit

I need to find an easy way to modify and customize (lots of) Adobe Presenter Powerpoint presentations,
such that it is possible to start a satisfaction evaluation in the end and when aborting/exiting the presentation.
The Powerpoint presentation will be will be deployed in Adobe Connect and must be supporting its proprietary tracking mechanisms.
I need to integrate with Adobe Presenter Powerpoint presentation and find out the current slide number and total number of slides.
One idea is to create and embed home-made flash as a swf-file into the Powerpoint presentation.
Inside this swf-file it should be possible to track slide event/information using ActionScript.
Inside this swf-file, I will use ExternalInterface javascript api to do changes to the html document,
the adobe presenter Powerpoint presentation embedded in by Adobe Connect.
How is this possible. Please provide any API information and/or code example.
Alternative is to inject javascript from home-made swf-file, such that the injected javascript can track current slide,
total number of slides, and end of presentation by accessing the presenter flash/movie object.
I will be using Adobe Connect 8, Adobe Presenter 8 and Flash Professional CS6.

    Thanks for response.
Can you please try following things. :-
    1) Publish the Presentation locally on your system. Go to Published folder. Please see the screen shot to know where your presentation is getting published.:-
In publish folder "viewer.swf" file exist. Observe behavior of Viewer.swf. Is it alos behave same.
    2) Verify that Cache folder size is not too big....that slower the browser. And delete the temporary internet files.
    3) Publish simple content slide without swf/video. Are these presentations playing fine?
    4) Please check if you have utility that taking backup quitely or some processes that taking lot of time.Check Task Manager performance tab and check for these background  processes. And observe how is overall performance of this computer.

  • Presentation with many large qt files

hey folks! just started using keynote earlier this week and am about to go overseas and do a presentation with it in a couple of days.
I have a quick question about the recommended usage of movie files. I will have around 50 or so movies ranging from 10 seconds to 3 minutes. what is the best codec to use? I'm currently hoping that H.264 will work, as it keeps file sizes small, but I'm interested in hearing what you folks have to say.
Also, is it possible to link to the movies instead of embed them? what solution is best?
    much thanks!
    -Jason
P.s. this is with iWork '08
    Message was edited by: jschleifer

    Heya Steeko!
thanks for the suggestion! I was able to keep the quicktimes small by re-exporting them with quicktime pro at H.264.. so filesize isn't really an issue that way. It's more a question of what's the recommended way to deal with a large number of quicktimes in a keynote presentation.
What's going to give me the best performance? Storing the movies inside the key file? Outside as references? H.264 codec, or something else?
    Cheers!

  • Presentation with Voice Annotation

    To all:
I am about to embark on a project of creating an extensive slide presentation with voice narration. I've used PPT before with good results but without sound. I would like to be able to do my new project in Keynote 3 but I'm not sure how to best handle the addition of voice narration.
I believe there is a way to embed sound with powerpoint and then save out to a QT movie. Keynote has a way of recording sound for each slide but I'm not sure how to best do this and whether or not the sound will carry over. All comments are appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Howard
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I've used both Powerpoint and Keynote for this, and both work, but I find that Keynote is easier to use. I teach college anthropology courses, and this basically is how I make my lectures each week for my online class. I use Amadeus II to record the sound files as Mp3s and name each sound file designating which slide they go with (chap1-1.mp3, chap1-2.mp3, etc). GarageBand would work, but Amadeus has a simpler interface. In PowerPoint you have to use a series of menu options to add the sound file to the slide, in Keynote just drag-and-drop the sound files onto the slides. Once the sound files are in place, go to File>Export and choose "Self-Playing Movie" from the drop down menu. Set a slide duration and build length of 1... this means that once the sound file finishes, the slide will change after 1 second. If you leave the slide duration at 5 (the default), there will be a 5 second gap between the end of the sound file and the slide advancing. The Interactive Movie option means the viewer would have to advance the slide once the sound file is finished, rather than the slides automatically advancing at the end of the sound. Change the video format settings in the "custom" area of the "Formats" drop down menu. I use 600 x 450 pixels, and since my slides are text only, I use 1 frame per second. Once everything is set, click "export". The process of creating the movie file will take a while (30 minutes or more, depending on your computer, the length of the movie and the settings you chose) Be aware that this QT file can be very large. A 25-30 slide presentation with a voice-over that runs 20-25 minutes can be over 200 megabytes, depending on what size you set for the video and the framerate. To reduce the size to something that can be posted on the web or sent through the mail I use QuickTime Pro to re-save the movie using some of the more thorough compression options.
    I hope this helps-
    Katrina

  • Problem with .MOV

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with .mov files in After Effects. Here is my system:
    Windows 7 64 bits
    Sabertooth X58
    Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
    Nvidia GTX 640
    12 GB Corsair DDR3
    Adobe CS6
The problem: Some .MOV files I play in After Effect look corrupted:
When I play them, it they make my computer bug until it freezes or shows a Bluescreen. But the files aren't corrupted as they play without problem on VLC (independant from Quicktime). The problem also happens in Premiere and even Quicktime (Quicktime version: 7.7.4 (1680.86)). I can work without problem with some .MOV so I checked the codec of the different files. "Apple PNG" and "Apple Photo JPEG" are making my system crashing. But I can play, work with or export "avc1" without any trouble.
The other day I actually noticed a similar problem in Nuke. I worked with another .mov file (avc1) without any issue but once I tried to render it to a .MOV file (Apple PNG), the rendered files had the same kind of corrupted-looking (lines and sometimes green screen). When I export it in a normal png-sequence there was no problem.
    Already tried but didn't solve:
    - updating to last graphic drivers
    - reinstall Quicktime
    - reinstall an older version of Quicktime
    - updating DirectX (I already had last version)
    - try with or without CUDA in After Effects
    - try to load the .mov from another harddisk
    - set Quicktime to "Safe mode (gdi)" (doesn't help for After Effects)
    - try to convert the file to a png sequence in Quicktime (crashed after rendering a few frames)
    Has anyone an idea?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sakat
    #update 1:
    - Tried to convert a ".mp4" file to an ".mov Apple PNG". Then I convert it again to a ".mp4" with Wondershare Video Converter (the errors do not happen with that software). I can be play without problem on VLC that last ".mp4".
    - Tried to play an ".avi" file in Quicktime: system crash.
    - Tried to preview an ".mov Apple PNG" in half resolution in AE: system crash.
    - Tried to export a ".mov Apple PNG" to an ".AVI" and an ".mp4 H264": It exported but the files aren't playable in any soft (including VLC and Wondershare Video Converter). I did the same process to a ".mov Apple PNG", it freeze Windows.

Today I tried to uninstall all Apple softwares, clean the register with CCleaner, delete Apple folders in Appdata (local, locallow, roaming), Flash the bios of my motherboard, reboot and then only reinstall the last version of Quicktime. And I tested all the advanced settings in Quicktime: safe mode (GDI), Directdraw acceleration, Direct3D acceleration. No result... I could play a "avc1 .mov" in Quicktime. That's all.
Last month I formated and reinstalled Windows. Before formatting I had no problem with these files. I didn't change anything in the hardware. So there must be something missing/corrupt in some codecs used by Quicktime or the way Quicktime renders these codecs.
I searched but couldn't get any result for a link to download a Windows version of ApplePNG codec...
Is there anyone who has an idea because I'm really getting stuck..

  • Can i do a presentation with Keynote for IOS on my flatscreen in FullHD?

    Hi,
would like to make a presentation with an ipad retina on my fullHD-TV over appleTV. I know that ipad2 maximum resolution is 1024*768 and it can not send a higher resoltution to appleTV. But ipad retina can show 2.048x1.536 wich is more than fullHD 1920x1080. AppleTV also supports 1080p-resolution. So here is the qustion:
Can i create a keynote-presentation with 1920x1080 on an ipad retina  and send it to an appleTV ?

I can confirm that iPad 4 does not solve this problem, at least not using the Lightning AV adapter with HDMI.
I'm using both the iPad 2 and the iPad 4 as a test, outputting a 1920x1080 Keynote presentation to two different plasma monitors.  Both seem to be displaying at 1024x768 or at least not full-screen.
Both, however, will play back video shot in the iPads at 1920x1080 full screen.
This is, I believe, a Keynote app issue.

  • Almost every time I open a new page, and that page has an ad with movement or video, the browser page hides behind other open pages. This is really annoying.

I don't see any evidence that this is malware. For instance i opened a page that was for a major newspaper from Dallas. As i reached my cursor to the page, it hid behind the other pages, and i had to now reach down to my taskbar to find it again. When i did, i saw an ad on the page with movement (flash?). Anyway, the ad was for breast cancer awareness, and was made by that newspaper, which is why i think it has nothing to do with malware. Same thing happens everyday with normal sites like Yahoo. Anytime an ad has movement or video, the page is only visible for a second, then hides behind the others. This has really become a major annoyance.
