[SOLVED] Remap joystick/pad buttons

Hi
Is there a way to rema my pad buttons? I own a logitech pad, and when running some games through wine, since most of today games are xbox ports, my buttons are messed. I mean, xbox has the following layout:
x y
a b
my pad
1 4
2 3
and -at least through wine- , the buttons position doesn't match.
x -> 3
b -> 2
a -> 1
y -> 4
so I end up using a pad with the following xbox buttons:
a y
b x
wich kinda mess the gameplay on most games.
Any known way to remap?
Sorry for my english, i'm not fully awake yet

  • X121e touch pad buttons stop working after a while

    Hello everyone,
    I have a lenovo thinkpad x121e.
    The buttons above the touchpad (for right and left clicking) and also the trackpoint stop working after a while (about 45 min). Although the touchpad itself works without problems.
    If I reboot the operating system (Windows 7, 64-bit version) everything works fine for a while and then the buttons and trackpoint won't respond again.
    It is always the same routine. Rebooting windows, everything alright, stop working, ...
    I am using the newest driver version and de- & reinstalling of UltraNav haven't solved the problem.
    Has anyone an idea what causes my problems with the touch pad buttons and how to solve it? (I guess it's not a hardware problem.)
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi again, li-lup
    I would recommend trying to use the standard Synaptics driver found here. Synaptics is the company that develops the UltraNav software, so there should be no loss of compatibility/features. I have witnessed several cases where this driver has helped others with mouse issues, so it may help yours as well.
    The first thing you will need to do is to remove the UltraNav driver from the system. To do this, open the Start menu and type Device Manager into the Search box, and then press Enter. Once here, double click on Mouse and other pointing devices, and then right-click on the UltraNav device. Naviage to the Driver tab and select Uninstall... from the bottom of the window. Follow the prompts to uninstall and then restart when prompted by Windows. Windows should install a generic driver that will allow you to use the TouchPad when downloading the Synaptics driver.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Left touch pad button fault?

    Hi all,
    I have had my G570 laptop for about two months after a very bad affair with an HP laptop which went back to PC World twice with the same screen fault, then when I went to collect it, I switched it on only to see the same fault
    So they said I could have a new laptop and I chose the Lenovo, bumped the RAM up to 8GB and have been very pleased with it, it feels solid and I wish I had got it from day one.
    Now, as the subject says, I have an issue with the left touch pad button. Some times it sticks down, seems to go down further and at a different angle to the right button and just feels like something is not right. Is there anything that I can do to fix it or am I heading back to PC World for a fourth time in as many months
    Cheers,
    Steve.

    Thanks Duck3, I did think as much

  • Track pad buttons won't work

    My track pad buttons on Mac Book Pro will not work.  Can move cursor using the track pad, but when I click on the buttons nothing happens

    I suggest deleting the preference file for the trackpad - it may have become corrupted. Heres how:
    Home Folder>Library Folder>Preferences Folder>com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.ytrackpad.plist
    Delete: com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.ytrackpad.plist
    If this doesn't resolve the issue, I wonder if you are using a third-party trackball or mouse, the driver for that hardware might also be helping to make stuff wonky- Make sure you are using the latest version of drivers for third-party stuff and that the hardware is in fact compatible with your system.
    Hope this helps! :-)

  • Touch pad button wobble/clicking sound.

    Yeah so I have had my macbook for about 3-4 months and just recently the touch pad button is getting all wobbely and making an annoying clicking sound if i just touch it (not clicking something). Its VERY annoying. Basicly what i wanna know is if i can take it to the apple store or something and get it fixed?

    Do you have applecare? Problem is on something like this we can't really say what apple service will do about it. The reason I asked about applecare is if you had it you could call in and talk to apple service on the phone. With the regular warranty you only get 90 days free phone support. That is one of the reasons I am getting Applecare before my first year is up. I luckily have had no problems but I plan on having this computer for at least another 3 years applecare will be worth it. One problem after the first year and it's paid for itself. To me the phone support alone will be worth it.
    Thanks for the .

  • Trying to remap joystick

    i have a logitech F310 gamepad drivers work fine all out of the box.
    however i do play some games in wine and one in particular doesnt allow me to set the right toggle axes (3,5) to axes (2,4)
    i tried the joystick wiki, tried joystick out of aur, tried joyutils.
    joystick on the aur does allow me to remap but when i go into the game no changes, also no changes when i use pcsxr
    not sure if i can change them in /etc/X11/xorg.conf/ anyone know how to do this? (not sure if this would apply in wine games)
    or have found a way to remap joysticks?
    dont mind reading on my own just not finding much luck
    had found uri: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=153875 but didnt as well

    I cannot give a definitive answer, but you may want to install joyutils from the AUR and play around with jstest and jscal.
    Also, read the kernel documentation on the joystick.  In my system it is at /usr/src/linux-3.11.6-1-ARCH/Documentation/input/joystick.txt.  It includes a section on how to build a calibration table.

  • [SOLVED] Remapping Razer Naga (and Naga Epic) Buttons

    Original Thread Title: Can I remap keys on a single device?
    Okay, so I have a Razer Naga Epic here, obviously unsupported by the manufacturer. However, evdev sees the device as two seperate event drivers:
    in /dev/input/by-id/:
    usb-Razer_Razer_Naga_Epic-event-kbd
    usb-Razer_Razer_Naga_Epic-event-mouse
    The default mapping of the mouse is set to have the side numbers (1-12) set to 1-0 and then - and = (first row of a standard keyboard, not the numpad equivalent presses)
    This becomes problematic when attempting to map the keys to functions in games or different actions in the DE, or any other application.
    I'm relatively inexperienced when it comes to remapping keys in X11 or any key remapping in Linux, so its a relatively noob question:
    How would I go about remapping the usb-Razer_Razer_Naga_epic-event-kbd keys from the number 0-9 and - and = to nonstandard keys (Fn+0-9, FN+-,= for example, since my system has no Fn key, this would simulate presses normally impossible for me to hit on my keyboard, effectively making this buttons seperate)
    I understand that with xmodmap I can change the keys globally (so the keys on my keyboard and mouse would both get changed) but what if I just want to remap the mouse's keys to different buttons?
    xinput --list outputs the following:
    xinput --list
    â¡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
    â â³ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
    â â³ Razer Razer Naga Epic id=8 [slave pointer (2)]
    ⣠Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
    â³ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
    â³ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
    â³ Power Button id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
    â³ Razer Razer Naga Epic id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
    â³ Topre Corporation Realforce 87 id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
    X clearly detects the pointer and button portions of the mouse as two seperate devices. Unfortunately xkeycap (a frontend for xmodmap) confirms my fear that the two devices are handled as one (the virtual core keyboard) as far as X is concerned... I'll have to dig around some more and see if I can figure out how to use the other x keyboard config utils.
    I think I may have figured out a relatively simple way, avoiding using xkbcomp and setxkbmap, which are cumbersome. Remembering back to the days when laptop keyboards and such weren't handled as well by evdev, and we had to do funny things with xorg conf files to load special keymaps, I realized that I could make a section for the Naga, and make my own key map file (These files are stored in /usr/share/X11/symbols, in my case I use the us symbols group.)
    So my idea is to create a new "naga" symbols group, by editing a copy of the "us" symbols group, which should effectively give me a new keymap for JUST my naga by setting it in xorg.conf to use the naga group. I'll report back whether this works, and mark the thread solved accordingly.
    This will not work because of the way evdev assigns itself to devices. I need to make an xkb layout that modifies other layouts, and have it apply itself to the Naga device, I will work on this more later.
    Edited: Changed the title to be something more relevant to this particular discussion. Hopefully this will help with people looking for the solution to the same problem!

    I have been wrestling with this post for quite some time and thought I would post my findings as well.
    Let me start off by saying I think you should go with the above posts first because I have just been fumbling around trying to get this to work and it does. However, I have no experience with this and I do not know if this is the best way to go about the remapping (IE it may be considered pretty ugly).
    For some reason, the above method did not seem to work all that well for me. What seemed to be happening was that some (but not all) of my keyboard keys would become unresponsive after applying the fix above. EG the 3, 4, 6 & 9 would not register anything after applying the script(s) above. This seemed to correspond to any of the keys (F15, F16, etc.) that were that were assigned a shortcut in KDE->System Settings->Shortcuts and Gestures. I ran xev and took a look at the output to check things out. When pressing those keys, it seemed like both keys (the keyboard 3 and the naga 3 (remapped to F15)) still had the same scancode but a different mappings and xev appeared to be confused in some way. Anyway, the end result was that the keyboard would not register a 3 when pressed.
    So to fix it I went down a level in the remapping process. I created a udev rule, a corresponding keymap, and a ~/.Xmodmap and the problem seems to be solved.
    For the TL;DR people with a razer naga first generation you can just place these files in the following direcotries, unplug and reconnect your mouse, issue `xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap`  and things may work:
    /etc/udev/rules.d/85-razer-naga.rules
    /usr/lib/udev/keymaps/razer-naga
    ~/.Xmodmap
    CAUTION: Before you replace the .Xmodmap file, I suggest that you run `xmodmap -pke`. The output is your current key mapping. The ~/.Xmodmap file that I have provided replaces keycodes 191 through 202. Some of those keys maybe be (at least they were for me) special keys that you do not want to replace (IE toggling a touchpad on/off). If you don't have any problem losing anything there (I don't even have those keys) go ahead and replace all the files above and issue `xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap`.
    My fix is based on this blog post:
    http://stew.vireo.org/blog/posts/Udev_a … keyboards/
    I followed that post preciesly only I replaced f13-f24 for all the key codes corresponding to the 1-12 buttons on the naga. Created the rule file and unplugged and replugged my mouse. At that point things did not work. So I re-ran xev to find that the remapping was working but the key codes the naga was spitting out were not the key codes that I was expecting. The scan codes were correct (191-202) but the mapped keycodes were some special keys as stated above (why?, I do not know). So the next step was to force a remapping of the scancode to keycode relationship.
    I did this by issuing `xmodmap -pke > ~/.Xmodmap` and generally following the this Archwiki guide.
    In the end, I finally got this mouse to work as expected.
    Hope this helps.
    Have a great day.

  • Track pad button automatically/randomly left clicking.

    I have a T61P and from the first day I got it the left-click button on the track pad (not the button for the red track pointer) would automatically click but only at random.  The button isn't stuck and it generally happens about every 10 to 20 minutes.  I have already upgraded the all the driver software.  Is there anything else I can try before calling the service tech??  Thanks.  -Ray

  • [SOLVED] MSI GT70 keyboard buttons not working

    Hi! I am a normal user of computers that like games, so I bought this awesome notebook MSI GT70 i7 16gb ram GTX 675MX 128ssd+750hdd, with a keyboard by steelseries.
    Everything was ok, using the notebook as came when I bought, with OS windows 8, with no format nor modifications by me, using it since January 2013.
    The problem is that about 1 or 2 weeks some shortcuts of keyboard arent working anymore:
    - Wifi button isn't working and isn't becoming orange when pressed, and Fn+F8 isn't working either;
    - Screen shutdown button is becoming orange when pressed but not working;
    - Cd-dvd eject button is becoming orange when pressed but not working;
    - I tried also Fn+F9 and Fn+F12 shortcuts, and I think they arent working either.
    At the same time, the Cooler button and the Backlight's Keyboard button are working correctly. Turbo button maybe is working too but I don't know if something become overclock when I activate it.
    I would really appreciate some help, since I love my notebook very much, and I hope it's not a hard problem to solve.
    Thanks!

    Try resetting EC: >>How to reset the EC (Embedded Controller)<<
    If that doesN't help uinstall SCM and after reboot install latest version: http://www.msi.com/service/download/utility-19670.html
    Also try updating .Net Framework 4.5: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36377
    Hi,
    I followed your advice:
    1. uninstalled SCM, restarted
    2. installed SCM, restarted
    3. tried to update .net framework, had it already
    4. resat the EC
    But unfortunately it did not change my GE60 2OC's behaviour: when i press the back-light button it opens my browser with dragoonarmy/msi.com>/ BUT NO LIGHT.
    Do anybody have a suggestion to solve this??

  • [SOLVED]Remap my menu key in Xorg

    Hi, everyone!
    I have a menu key of no use on my keyboard, and I want to use it. So I decide to remap it. I want to do this mapping:
    menu + 1 => F1
    menu + 2 => F2
    menu + 3 => F3
    menu + 4 => F4
    menu + 5 => F5
    menu + 6 => F6
    menu + 7 => F7
    menu + 8 => F8
    menu + 9 => F9
    menu + 0 => F10
    menu + - => F11
    menu + + => F12
    menu + w => ArrowUp
    menu + d => ArrowDown
    menu + a => ArrowLeft
    menu + d => ArrowRight
    menu + j => PageDown
    menu + k => PageUp
    menu + m => End
    menu + , => Home
    This means if I press menu key and 1 at once, it equals to F1. It seems that Xmodmap can't be suitable because it can't map combination keys. Do you have any idea of the way to do it?
    Thank you.

    Hi, I made some progress, the problem is partly solved.
    In ~/.Xmodmap:
    xmodmap -e "add mod3 = Menu"
    In ~/.config/sxhkd/sxhkdrc:
    # don't take action if I press Menu
    Menu
    true
    mod3 + 1
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F1
    mod3 + 2
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F2
    mod3 + 3
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F3
    mod3 + 4
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F4
    mod3 + 5
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F5
    mod3 + 6
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F6
    mod3 + 7
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F7
    mod3 + 8
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F8
    mod3 + 9
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F9
    mod3 + 0
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F10
    mod3 + minus
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F11
    mod3 + equal
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F12
    mod3 + w
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Up
    mod3 + s
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Down
    mod3 + a
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Left
    mod3 + d
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Right
    mod3 + j
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Page_Down
    mod3 + k
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Page_Up
    mod3 + m
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers End
    mod3 + comma
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Home
    And run sxhkd(it's in AUR), see it's working.
    Note some part also need fixing.
    Greatly thanks for WonderWoofy, Trilby and 2ManyDogs.
    EDIT: Now it is completely solved.

  • Cleaning track pad button

    Ok im an idiot, I spilt a small ammount of fruit juice on the track pad of my Mac Book. now the button sticks it still works though. Is there a safe, relatively easy way to clean this?

    Somedays, my hand smeared with Malaysia oil for muscular pain relief, but after massage, I forgot to wash my hand, so it has some oil in my finger. When I touched the touch pad of my black Macbook, the oil penetrate inside. I immediately used tissue to wipe it off but the stain is somehow like u using marker to draw on the touch pad , means can't removed... I don't know what to do, anyone can help, if Apple Repair provide service to replace the surface of such touch pad???Coz' the condition for mine is serious.

  • [SOLVED] Slow/sluggish touchpad buttons response (sometimes)

    Hi all,
    I have had this problem for some months now but have never looked into it, even if it is pretty annoying.
    Sometimes (say one boot every three) the touchpad buttons of my laptop (see sig) behave strangely. Their response time is very long, I have to keep them pressed for ~half a second to make them trigger correctly.
    This is very annoying when editing texts (selection a section of text with the touchpad) and using any click intensive application (ie editing a presentation with Prezi).
    I use KDE and the only touchpad configuration I've ever done has been done via synaptiks.
    I cannot tell after what update this started, it was too long ago unfortunately.
    Since this happens only sometimes I don't even know where to start looking!
    EDIT: I stress the fact that this happens with buttons, not with tapping

  • MBP Track Pad Button Thinks I'm Still Touching It (How to disable?)

    So once again I have another issue with my macbook pro. I'm long out of warranty and I don't have applecare. I already took it to apple to get an estimate of how much it would cost to just replace the whole topcase...$300 (for a stupid trackpad button).
    They said its the only way but I want to be entirely sure in case he had no idea what he was talking about.
    Here is the issue:
    I saw on some threads where other experienced similar issues but were under warranty and got lucky and were able to have it repaired.
    The trackpad works perfectly fine. The button however thinks you are stilling pressing on it. If I click once and move the cursor the begins highlighting when im obviously not holding the button down (Don't bother telling me to disable dragging in the trackpad options that isn't the issue). It will keep on doing this after I keep on pressing the button 5 more times, and after clicking it when it has gone away it comes back.
    You can tap on the trackpad and that will work perfectly fine, and honestly I can live without the button. However, even if I don't touch the button it is still recognizing something clicking the button and begins to interfere with whatever im doing with the touch pad.
    This brings me to my next point, if repairing the button is going to blow a hole in my wallet, is there a way to disable the input from the button completely. I can just live with tapping on the touch pad. Is there some software that allows me to program the computer to ignore the button or is there some wires i can cut? Even if it is something as ghetto as jamming the button with an object somehow, I'll do it.
    PLEASE HELP I need to disable this button because I dislike using an external mouse
    Thanks in advance

    hey thanks for the quick reply. I tried it and i messed around nudging the cable but it still does the same thing.
    I also forgot to mention that if you press the button really hard, like quick and solid poke on the button, it tends not to drag and think I'm still holding the button. But if you tap it lightly like one normally does, it continues to "drag" whatever the cursor was on.
    Could something be stuck? Apple here in the Philippines was being stubborn and told me that I'd have to give mine and it will most likely just be repaired at the cost of the $300 I mentioned above.

  • [Solved] Binding a mouse button to control

    Hi. I'm searching for a way to bind a mouse button to act exactly like Control.
    If you would like to bind Caps Lock to act as Control you would do the following for example:
    remove lock = Caps_Lock
    add Control = Caps_Lock
    keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
    It appears that xmodmap doesn't work this way for mouse buttons this way however.
    The motivation for this is to have convenient key-bindings for an old game which doesn't support remapping.
    Thanks!
