[SOLVED] smplayer text & menu

Hi all
Since my last arch/mplayer update the text and the menu of smplayer is gone.
Do you know from where the problem come?
Thanks for your help

There's an option in the preferences dialog of smplayer that allows to change the font of the application: Preferences->Interface->Default font.
Be sure you're using a recent version.

  • LibreOffice text menu not showing up

    Hi everyone,
    I've just switched from Fedora to Arch Linux. So far, installation and all went smoothly and it looks very good :-)
    However, I'm experiencing a small problem with LibreOffice, as it's not showing any text menu entries:
    I've installed both German and English language packs (libreoffice-de 3.4.5-2 and libreoffice-en-US 3.4.5-2) so
    my guess would be that it's some kind of locale problem. Unfortunately, I haven't been able find anything on that
    particular problem anywhere. I tried resetting the user directory in .libreoffice in my home directory, but the
    problem remains. Any hint would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I'm around this issue too.
    My daugther studies chinese and my son prefers english. Each has he(r|s) language, but the all menues are as shown here.
    tt-dejavu and artwiz fonts are installed, I'm trying to add some more font, but I really doubt that will solve.
    I've seen some forum blaming lib-cairo2 and some relation with gtk2 font setting, but I can't imaging where would be the right point.
    EDIT
    I installed the missing fonts and all gone fine. For chinese would be fine some search. In my case I found ttf-arphic fonts

  • Plain text menu

    Hi!
    How can I create a text menu in an application? I want to use the console for my programm. The menu should look like that:
    --> A
    B
    C
    The arrow should be moveable (with up/down) and the entry should be selectable (with enter).
    I have totaly no idea how to realise that.
    thanks for help,
    ManuP

    I think that is not very comfortabel and
    userfriendly.A console-based app is almost not comfortable and user-friendly by definition. If you want an economic interface, use a GUI.
    In standard Java, you can't take console input before the reutn key wasn't hit. So you canot use the arrow keys for navigation.
    You're also not able to modify existing console output - the only thing you could possibly do is delete characters from a line that's not yet "terminated" by a newline by sending the backspace character '\b'.

  • Abbreviate text menu items

    I'm working in Ai but this question applies to other Adobe programs.
    Is there some way to abrreviate the text menu items ("Stroke", "Opacity", "Character", "Paragraph", "Transform") to "S", "O", "C", "P", and "T", this would save space (working with two windows juxtaposed) and eliminates need to access the drop down menu on the right if working window is smaller.
    Perhaps this is too deep for the Preferences to reach... (but maybe it shouldn't be)
    thx

    It doesn't exist.

  • [Solved]"No Text!" in konqueror menu

    Yesterday when I opened up konqueror, I couldn't help but notice all the buttons, the location bar, and some of the menu drop-downs were missing.  But in fairness, it gave me a new one that's empty and just says No Text!
    It's normal in fresh accounts, so it's a settings issue.  I'll have to go through and find where the settings for these are and remove them so KDE can automagically fix it.  Has anyone seen this before? or at least know where those are stored?
    In case you haven't seen it:

    Nevermind, I found where the menu is stored after I stopped making the assumption that it had to be somewhere in the ~/.kde/share/config directory.  I .old'ed  the file and konqueror was back to normal.
    For future reference, the file is ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror.rc.

  • White Screen of Death (text/menu won't display)

    Here is my situation: I work at an insurance company and occasionally we will have items come in that are part of a claim. We recently had a 40gb color ipod come in. I was asked to check it out to see if it was still working. I hooked it up to my computer at home and found that everything still works fine other than the screen being completely white and the battery would not hold a charge. I figured that I could at least use it as a portable hard drive if I couldn't get it working. I have changed the battery so that is now fixed, I am still trying to figure out about the white screen issue though. I spent most of Saturday browsing the forums and the internet in general looking for a solution to this problem and I found several people that have the same issue.
    So far I have run the ipod updater to put it to the most recent version (2006-06-28), screen is still white. I have also tried using an older version of the updater (2005-10-12), no luck either. I tried the disk mode option (toggle hold on and off, hold select and menu for about 6 seconds, then hold select and play for about 6 seconds), the screen goes white again but I cannot get any text to show up.
    It will play music fine, the backlight works just like my other ipod, but when the backlight goes off, I just have a blank screen. I cannot get it to show the apple logo at all either.
    Obviously I don't have a warranty as I was not the original purchaser, but I am quite optimistic that I can get it working.
    Has anybody completely solved this problem yet? So far the best advice I have seen is the "disk mode" trick, but that doesn't seem to be working. I was just wondering if anybody else has had as much trouble as I have.
    Thanks
    40GB photo   Windows XP Pro

    I too have this same problem.... is white and yet I can still here the selector moving around in the main menu.
    Any answers out there please let us know how to fix this..

  • [solved] Problem adding menu icon to pypanel

    Hello, I'm moving into a new place and I'm putting my desktop in the living room as a community media center since neither me or my roommates own a TV, and I'm the only one with a working desktop. They're used to Windows and a start menu. I'm running Openbox + pypanel and thought I'd make their transition a little easier by adding a start menu icon to pypanel. I followed the instructions here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=68177 but it isn't working. Everytime I click on the arch icon I just get this in my terminal:
    Error: Invalid key sequence 'C-m'
    Failure converting key sequence 'C-m' to keycodes
    Error: Invalid key sequence 'C-m'
    Failure converting key sequence 'C-m' to keycodes
    xdo_keysequence reported an error for string 'C-m'
    here is the important part of my pypanelrc config:
    ("xdotool key C-m", "/home/neruson/.icons/archlinux/icons/archllinuxiconcrystal128.png"),
    In obkey my key is Ctrl+M and the key text is C-m, anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    EDIT:
    I should also add I've tried this with the key as SUPER+Space too with the same error.
    EDIT 2:
    Nevermind, solved. I'm just stupid and can't follow directions well... ctrl+m instead of C-m... duh

    Thanks for the heads up on the scripts.
    ~/.bash_profile has me annoyed though. It's as if it is not being executed. Will have to try adding something with a visible effect to confirm.
    My ~/.bash_profile is owned by me and is executable but it simply will not add the path to the variable.
    Could it be something to do with the way my session is handled?
    I am currently launching my session through GDM via inittab. I know when a session is launched this way, for example, ~/.xinitrc is ignored. Perhaps this is the same for ~/.bash_profile?
    Regarding ~/.bashrc, it does work this way, but it only adds the path when a terminal is launched. I need the path added regardless of a terminal being opened or not.
    Cheers.

  • Windows 8.0 new dual boot GUI disappeared and replaced with text menu after installing updated 8.0 and 8.1

    I upgraded my windows xp to windows 8.0 and my windows 7 to windows 8.1 for a dual boot environment. I am using BCDEDIT program. I had no problem when booting to the GUI menu OF WINDOWS 8 when I first INSTALLED Windows 8. But after the second time
    I booted from a cold start it defaulted back to the old text version of the dual boot menu from the old windows xp and 7 . I have tried many times to restore the boot mgr TO GET BACK THE WINDOWS 8 GUI but I can't seem to put my
    finger on the root cause remedy  that would over-ride the default TEXT VERSION STYLE. I really like the Windows 8 GUI interface. Remember I am not having any problems with booting into the OS of my choice ----- just the BOOTMENUPOLICY.
    Here is where I need to resolve the new from the old command. By the way Does the Bcdedit program need to be installed in both OS'S? And when original Windows 7 was installed the os partitioned a Boot 100mb. I cannot remove or delete it in my Disk Management.
    Just some other tidbits to ponder from any help I would appreciate.
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi,
    What's the status of your current system boot option? Please check and make sure Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 was first boot.

  • [SOLVED]Remap my menu key in Xorg

    Hi, everyone!
    I have a menu key of no use on my keyboard, and I want to use it. So I decide to remap it. I want to do this mapping:
    menu + 1 => F1
    menu + 2 => F2
    menu + 3 => F3
    menu + 4 => F4
    menu + 5 => F5
    menu + 6 => F6
    menu + 7 => F7
    menu + 8 => F8
    menu + 9 => F9
    menu + 0 => F10
    menu + - => F11
    menu + + => F12
    menu + w => ArrowUp
    menu + d => ArrowDown
    menu + a => ArrowLeft
    menu + d => ArrowRight
    menu + j => PageDown
    menu + k => PageUp
    menu + m => End
    menu + , => Home
    This means if I press menu key and 1 at once, it equals to F1. It seems that Xmodmap can't be suitable because it can't map combination keys. Do you have any idea of the way to do it?
    Thank you.

    Hi, I made some progress, the problem is partly solved.
    In ~/.Xmodmap:
    xmodmap -e "add mod3 = Menu"
    In ~/.config/sxhkd/sxhkdrc:
    # don't take action if I press Menu
    Menu
    true
    mod3 + 1
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F1
    mod3 + 2
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F2
    mod3 + 3
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F3
    mod3 + 4
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F4
    mod3 + 5
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F5
    mod3 + 6
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F6
    mod3 + 7
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F7
    mod3 + 8
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F8
    mod3 + 9
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F9
    mod3 + 0
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F10
    mod3 + minus
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F11
    mod3 + equal
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers F12
    mod3 + w
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Up
    mod3 + s
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Down
    mod3 + a
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Left
    mod3 + d
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Right
    mod3 + j
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Page_Down
    mod3 + k
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Page_Up
    mod3 + m
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers End
    mod3 + comma
    xdotool key --clearmodifiers Home
    And run sxhkd(it's in AUR), see it's working.
    Note some part also need fixing.
    Greatly thanks for WonderWoofy, Trilby and 2ManyDogs.
    EDIT: Now it is completely solved.

    Same problem here... I finally updated whole system yesterday (last full system upgrade was on 2011-11-26) and same problem appears. File /usr/lib/libwbclient.so.0 was not present in system, so i reinstalled package smbclient - without any effect, then reinstalled libwbclient package and requested file appears. There is no error about upgrading libwbclient in pacman.log (from yesterday system update).. How is this possible?

  • [SOLVED] vim completion menu broken

    Since I upgraded to the latest vim (version 7.3.138, using the gvim package), the completion menu seems to be broken.
    Steps of replication:
    1. Stand in directory containing files test{1,5}
    2. Open vim
    3. :e t<tab>
    By now vim should show the completion menu saying that there are five files to choose from, but instead the cursor places itself in the file where I last left input, the command area is cleared and no completion is shown. If I enter anything, the cursor returns to the command line and the command line is redrawn with whatever I enter. If I press tab again, the cursor returns to the command area returns and redraws ":e test", nothing further happens.
    The error appears in both terminal vim and in gvim, and persists even if I reinstall using the regular vim package. I ruled out my configs breaking it by resetting them to a couple of months ago, but it didn't help.
    vim --version && pacman -Qi gvim:

    Is anyone else getting this?
    EDIT && SOLVED:
    It was my configurations after all. "set wildmenu list:longest" made it break for some reason. Without it everything is peachy. \o/

  • [Solved] Reboot pulldown menu in KDE4

    I wonder if someone succeed in enabling this feature under archlinux, with kde 4.
    I have the line "default saved" in my menu.lst and I have also added the line "savedefault" at the end of each boot section. The reboot pulldown menu appears and give me the choice of what to reboot with, but it doesn't have any effect (it always reboot with the first boot section written in the grub).

    Yes, but this faultly behaviour only occurs with the use of the kde4 reboot pulldown menu (the command "grub-set-default" works well).

  • [SOLVED] Colorize text that has already been printed

    I'm making a small script for personal use, whose purpose is to output the state of my cooling devices in a nice way. For now, this is what I have, and, although it may be a bit dirty, it works:
    ( echo 'n type max cur' ; for P in /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device* ; do echo -n "$P " | tr -d '/sys/class/thermal/cooling_device' ; cat "$P"/{'type','max_state','cur_state'} | tr '\n' ' ' ; echo ; done) | column -t
    Its output, in my machine, is the following:
    n type max cur
    0 Processor 10 0
    1 Processor 3 0
    2 Fan 1 0
    3 Fan 1 0
    4 Fan 1 1
    5 Fan 1 1
    I would like to colorize the output, but using either tput or color escape codes confuses column. Looking for a way to solve this in column has not succeeded; it seems it doesn't have any option to strip escape codes, or to ignore them. So, what can I do? I've thought about modifying the already-printed text, but that doesn't seem to be a very 'elegant' solution (I can't imagine how to do it, either).
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Good readings are also welcomed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kalrish

    Try using printf instead of column.
    #!/bin/bash
    black='\e[0;30m'
    red='\e[0;31m'
    for d in /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device*; do
    cd "$d"
    x=(${d: -1:1} $(cat type max_state cur_state))
    printf "${black}%2d %-10s ${red}%2d${black} %2d\n" ${x[@]}
    done
