[SOLVED] Wireframe architectural 3D rendering?

I finally found what I needed: I was looking for "Parallel projections"
I am implementing this in java, so hopefully there may be a helpful API, but I suspect that I just need a good keyword to google with.
I know a fair amount of basic trigonometry, but contemplation of the following leaves me confused, and I can't construct a google query that finds a solution very well:
I'd like to represent what are essentially wireframe polygons from a 3D positional perspective. However, it should be a 3D perspective that does not bother taking into account field of vision or horizon, depth of view, etc. It is more of a map-making/architectual sort of rendering (mostly overhead, from the left, and right, but with the ability to rotate horizontally/vertically -- and I know, must be quite simple). The math to convert a set of X Y Z points and the perspective angles to a 2D plane view must be relatively easy, but I can only find information on straight "real life" wireframe rendering using common depth-oriented rendering techniques.
A java API might be nice, but if there is a specific term for what I am describing, it would be better if I went and learned the math behind it also :)
Thanks!

Okay I have it narrowed down.
The mkinitcpio hook fails with:
2011-11-09 09:29:44
Building fglrx module for 3.0-ARCH kernel ...
Kernel header files are absent: directory /lib/modules/3.0-ARCH/build doesn't exist! Game over
The folder is indeed missing. I have linux-headers installed, but it installs to /lib/modules/3.1.0-4-ARCH/. I have tried updating catalyst-hook, and it still looks in the 3.0 dir.

  • Multiple component architecture: shared rendering ?

    Hi, I'm working with JSF for the purpose of redefining a monolythic web application through components. Each component should be defined a self-standing brick, made itself by a set of JSF pages+ beans + resources.
    Now, I could read that frames are not adviced to be used with JSF, nevertheless my application should endup with my components sharing the same page. E.i. a tree component, showing a OO db structure on the left side, together with a result table on the right side and so on. Both should be autonomous components, developed separately with JSF but capable of sharing a single page within the view if required. I know about subviews and inclusion, but the point concerns cooperation and shared rendering. In the above example, both components should be able to roll in through multiple pages separately, while AFAIK subviewing is a fairly static kind of inclusion.
    I guess it should be a common issue for the web, can anybody suggest an approach from the architecture point of view ? Is shared rendering from multiple components life-cycles possible ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Yash
    I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by "COMP". I have referred to 3 components in my question:
    COMP1
    COMP2
    APP
    I assumed you mean "APP" when you say "COMP" but this can't be right - you say:
    so in COMP go to the component usage in the heirarchy and select the usage COMP1_USAGE and inside this there is a entity called as interfacecontroller_usage click on that... and then in the controller usage add the COMP as usage ..so that the nodes of COMP will be available for mapping.. then do the mapping for the node of COMP1_USAGE with the COMP.
    When I go to APP and to the Component Usage -> COMP1 I cannot navigate any further ("Operation not supported by the selected object").
    We have SAP_BASIS release 700 level 12 and I'm just not seeing what you describe...

  • [solved] GTK3: Fonts not rendering smoothly

    Here's GTK3 app and GTK2 app side by side:
    Fonts are not rendering correctly on any GTK3 app. I use Ubuntu's patched versions of freetype2, fontconfig and cairo from AUR:
    freetype2-ubuntu fontconfig-ubuntu cairo-ubuntu
    How can I get GTK3 apps to render fonts correctly? I don't use any DE, just dwm as window manager.

    Stupid me!
    The cairo-ubuntu from AUR had failed to build. Followed Ichigo-Roku's tip in comments and now everything works.

    In the PKGBUILD you have to replace "autoreconf" by "autoreconf -fi".
    Anyway, thanks for your help and sorry for taking your time.

  • [SOLVED] Some text not rendering in Gnome after update

    After a recent update some text is not rendering in Gnome. For example, look at the url bar of chromium in this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/A2Qyw.png
    Here's a "screenshot" of some text not rendering in gnome-terminal:
    $ echo -e "I like pizza\nI like pizza\nI like pizza"
    ...blank line...
    ...blank line...
    ...blank line...
    ...blank line...
    It basically renders my desktop environment worthless. I don't see anything suspicious in /var/lob/Xorg.0.log. Here are some of the packages I've updated recently:
    [2012-05-10 23:05] Running 'pacman -Suy'
    [2012-05-10 23:05] synchronizing package lists

    Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks!

  • [SOLVED] Source Architectures Arrays not recognized by makepkg

    Hello,
    I am in the process of updating my PKGBUILD's in order to migrate them to AUR4.
    As suggested here, one should rework a PKGBUILD in order to not use bash conditionals regarding source architecture selection.
    On my system (x86_64 architecture) - after reworking my package PKGBUILD script - on issuing 'makepkg --source' the system does not take into account neither the source_x86_64 or md5sums_x86_64 arrays; the i686 source/md5sums arrays are always selected:
    # Maintainer: Frontier (frontier314 at gmail dot com)
    pkgname=jaspersoftstudio
    _pkgname=JaspersoftStudio
    _binname="Jaspersoft Studio"
    pkgver=6.1.0
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="Eclipse based Jasper Reports generator"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    url="http://community.jaspersoft.com/project/jaspersoft-studio"
    license=('Eclipse')
    depends=('java-runtime' 'gtk2')
    source_x86_64=("http://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/JaspersoftStudio-${pkgver}/TIBCOJaspersoftStudio-${pkgver}.final-linux-x86_64.tgz")
    source=("http://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/JaspersoftStudio-${pkgver}/TIBCOJaspersoftStudio-${pkgver}.final-linux-x86.tgz")
    md5sums_x86_64=('01e1da5e396a07b82dbc0cd20be437de')
    md5sums=('2e6710b79c96f2f21880640fe8176048')
    package() {
    install -d -m 0755 ${pkgdir}/opt/${pkgname}
    cp -a ${srcdir}/TIBCOJaspersoftStudio-${pkgver}.final/* ${pkgdir}/opt/${pkgname}
    install -d -m 0755 ${pkgdir}/usr/bin
    ln -sf "/opt/${_pkgname}/${_binname}" ${pkgdir}/usr/bin/${_pkgname}
    ln -sf "/opt/${_pkgname}/${_binname}" ${pkgdir}/usr/bin/${pkgname}
    cat > ${_pkgname}.desktop << EoF

    Type=Application
    Categories=Java;Development;
    EoF
    install -D -m 0644 ${srcdir}/${_pkgname}.desktop ${pkgdir}/usr/share/applications/${_pkgname}.desktop
    Both makepkg.conf and pacman.conf have the correct architecture setting (snippets):
    makepkg.conf
    # ARCHITECTURE, COMPILE FLAGS
    CARCH="x86_64"
    CHOST="x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu"
    pacman.conf
    Architecture = x86_64
    Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong here?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Nothing more than Raynman and WorMzy suggested; using architecture-specific source arrays.
    The updated PKGBUILD:
    # Maintainer: Frontier (frontier314 at gmail dot com)
    pkgname=jaspersoftstudio
    _pkgname=JaspersoftStudio
    _binname="Jaspersoft Studio"
    pkgver=6.1.0

    md5sums_x86_64=('01e1da5e396a07b82dbc0cd20be437de')
    md5sums_i686=('2e6710b79c96f2f21880640fe8176048')
    package() {

    Categories=Java;Development;
    EoF
    install -D -m 0644 ${srcdir}/${_pkgname}.desktop ${pkgdir}/usr/share/applications/${_pkgname}.desktop
    Now, when you say
    on issuing 'makepkg --source' the system does not take into account neither the source_x86_64 or md5sums_x86_64 arrays
    What exactly do you mean? Where are you looking to see if it's taken into account?
    On the previous version of the PKGBUILD (still available on the "old" AUR3.5), I've used bash conditionals to check for the correct binary package download:

    Testing THIS PKGBUILD with namcap produces no warnings, where testing the updated PKGBUILD produces warnings for the source_* arrays (probably namcap isn't updated to 'understand' architecture array strings).
    Also with the old PKGBUILD when issuing makepkg --source, due to the bash conditionals, one could 'see' (from the shell messages) that the correct source package was downloaded. Now, when issuing the same command on the new PKGBUILD it downloads the i686 source always; however, issuing makepkg (without --source) downloads the correct source (in my case x86_64).

  • [SOLVED] Dual Architecture

    I'm staring at http://www.archlinux.org/download/ and wondering what "Dual Architecture" means. Wikipedia gave a general gist of the concept, but I don't understand how that applies to Arch and if I should use that ISO build.
    Last edited by ah (2010-08-18 17:02:45)

    It simply holds a kernel/initrd and the core packages for both i686 and x86_64, respectively, and you can pick one from the grub menu. So if you only need to install on one computer, you will only need the image for the architecture you chose to install. There is nothing like a "dual architecture" install, although you can run a i686 install on a x86_64 system but not the other way round.
    And BTW, Readmes are there to be read
    Arch Linux Installation and Live-CDs wrote:Both come in i686, x86_64 or dual variant. The latter contains both and lets you choose

  • [SOLVED] Dual Architecture Confusion

    Ever since I've started using Arch Linux I thought that "Dual Architecture" is actually special release for Dual-Core processors. This is very confusing for new folks that beginning to use Arch. I would suggest you include some better description on iso downloads page somewhere. At least something like this bellow.
    x86_64 -- is for 64bit processors, aka Dual-Core and Quad-Core.
    i686 -- is for 32bit processors, SIngle-Core processors, aka P4 and Atom.
    Dual -- is dual-boot media that you can use both on 32bit and 64bit processors.
    Thanks.

    Dual architecture - the word is self  explanatory.
    Other major distros don't have a CD or DVD media with 'Dual architecture'.
    Users tend to assume it differently when it is worded 'Dual architecture'.
    There is already a thread on this topic.

  • [Solved] radeonsi: only Software Rendering with AMD A10-7850k APU

    Hi,
    I have a new computer with an AMD A10-7850k APU.
    I installed Arch Linux as usual and now get only Software Rendering with the open source drivers.
    $ glxinfo | grep vendor
    server glx vendor string: SGI
    client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
    OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
    Xorg.0.log

    dmesg | grep drm
    http://pastebin.com/qx7Re1fv
    I am in the video group and I have no nomodeset in my boot entry.
    Is this APU not yet supported for Hardware Rendering with the radeonsi drivers or do I miss anything?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

  • [SOLVED] GTK3 Themes Not Rendering Correctly in OpenBox

    So, I've been trying to find a way to fix this issue for a while now. In OpenBox, GTK3 applications do not display correctly when using a theme based on Adwaita. An example theme would be Elegant Brit. Menus tend to shift a pixel over when highlighted. Buttons display as all white, or as buttons from a different theme. Dunno what causes this, but it's rather annoying. I have the "gnome-standard-themes" packages installed, but this resolves nothing. When starting a GTK3 application, these types of errors are shown.
    (transmission-gtk:1274): Gtk-CRITICAL **: _gtk_css_section_to_string: assertion `section != NULL' failed
    ** (transmission-gtk:1274): WARNING **: Can't load fallback CSS resource: (null)Failed to import: The resource at '/org/gnome/adwaita/gtk-fallback.css' does not exist
    Here's an screnshot depicting what I'm talking about. http://i.imgur.com/ZkLiZ.png
    I apologize if there's a solution to this somewhere already posted. I've been through the Wiki trying to find the solution, but I've really found nothing useful. Also, I already have "gtk-engines" and "lib32-gtk-engines" installed.

    This great discussion about GTK3 and GNOME3 development explains an awful lot. It seems we are heading for one GTK3 theme only - THE theme - as dictated by determined developers attached to certain companies who will be nameless! I almost started tinkering with tweaks to GTK3 themes and I'm now so glad I didn't waste my time.

    I don't know if this is helpful, if you need more information just ask:
    ls /etc/fonts/conf.d

    Someone knows how to troubleshoot/resolve this?

  • Out of memory message when rendering

    I have read much about this issue in other posts, but havn't been able to solve my problem.
    when rendering a sequence of large still in DVC Pro 1080i, about a 20% of it rendered, then the message "out of memory" comes up.
    The rendered part looks sweet.
    I have been able to render about another 20%, completing about 40% of the project rendered after the initial message, then the "out of memory" pop up comes up again, and after that, i will try to render more, the render % bar comes up, then just gives up and doesn't render anything.
    All of my scratch disks are set to a 2TB external sata drive with tons of room.
    I've deleted all of the render files in the Tools>Render Manager and that just made me re-render everything again, to come back to the same spot of "out of memory" at around 40% again.
    Should i try bumping up the still cache up to like 50% from a current 10%?
    Im working with all stills, maybe i should bump it up to 100%?
    Open to suggestions. . .

    O.k.
    I understand now that FCP can only use up to 4 GB of RAM. Sooo. . . if rendering large still images with a lot of filters: de-interlace, flicker filter, broadcast safe, I could see why you wouldn't be able to render a long sequence of these big stills. I believe this is why i was getting the stopping of rending and the "out of memory" message. So i once again cleared my renders in the Render Manager. I closed the projected and restarted.
    I began to try and render just sections of the sequence, thinking that this couldn't possibly max out the maximum RAM used by FCP. Though this didn't work.
    With just a small section of the sequence selected, it again recieved the "not enough memory" message, and FCP wouldn't render anything else after making another small selction of the clips.
    Why is it not possible for me to render small sections at a time?
    Is editing large stills in HD not possible in FCP for the reason of not being able to use enough RAM?
    Please, any advice or imformation on this will help me figure out what application i should use, or if there is a way to do this in FCP for editing still images with Heavily panned and zooms for a HiDef sequence, thanks

  • [SOLVED] Typing problem (I can't type anything anywhere) on Linux

    Hello,
    I've just installed SQL Developer 1.5.1.54.40 and I'm running it on Java 1.6.0_07 on a Linux machine. I've downloaded the      Oracle SQL Developer for other platforms, because my Linux ditribution is Debian, and there was no specific installer. I was able to run it without any trouble, added successfuly my connection, connected without issues, but when I wanted just to type a single SELECT statement just to test if all was working, I couldn't type any kind of key on the keyboard. I tried to restart SQL Developer, and test again, but the same happened. Tried then to open a table and to type anything on the 'Where' clause, but the same happened. It just blocked any kind of user typing. Can you tell me what could this be?
    Thank you.

    Well, sorry about the problem and thanks for the answer.
    I solved it out. I had a starter for sqldeveloper that, before calling the proper sqldeveloper starter, it called > export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit to solve past problems on rendering of the program window, and just removing/commenting that line, it started working the right way.
    Again, sorry about this problem, because it is not because of sqldevelper but with platform-specific issues.
    Thank you!

    Pretty sure the answer is "no". But is there a way to render or RAM Preview the Wireframe view?  (I find it's really helpful when timing many elements. I pay attention to the overall flow rather than the content of each layer)

    Yepp, you got it. Wireframes have never rendered persistently. If you are interested in a solution and would be willing to pay a few bucks, I might have something for you based on expressions that could be used...

  • New render kit for JSF 1.2

    I have red and tried a customization of what is explained in this article about writing a new render kit:
    http://java.sun.com/javaee/javaserverfaces/reference/docs/customRenderKit.html
    My code is under JSF 1.2.
    I tried a new xml render kit, but my custom render kit seems to have problemi with alignement with JSP..why?
    This is my code, and then I explain the result:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jsp:root version="2.0"
        xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
        xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
        xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page">
        <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/xml;charset=UTF-8"/>
        <f:view renderKitId="XML" >
            <root>
                <h:outputText value="ciao" style="background-color:red;" />
            </root>
        </f:view>
    </jsp:root>Ok. When I execute this, I obtain a bad xml:
    <text><root></text>
    <text style="background-color:red;">ciao</text>
    <text></root></text>Instead if I put root xml element outside the <f:view> everything is right.
    It seems to suffer of the usual problem of content interweaving...
    Instead if I use the default custom render I can mix my content and tag withouit problem....

    Solved.
    I replaced
    <renderer-type>javax.faces.Text</renderer-type>with my custom renderer. Every text inside <v:view> seems to be wrapped around a UIOutput component, so when I write:
    <f:view>
    <root>
    </root>
    </f:view>it is the same of:
    <f:view>
    <f:verbatim><root></f:verbatim>
    <f:verbatim></root></f:verbatim>
    </f:view>The output is:
    <text><root></text>
    <text><root></text>And this is invalid xml.

  • Is it safe to Corflag Oracle.DataAccess.dll

    Hello,
    Is it safe to use CORFLAGS.EXE to change the bit-architecture of the Oracle.DataAccess.dll (the version included in Oracle Client 11gR2) to AnyCPU by clearing up the 32bit flag?
    This dll (in the Oracle Client 32 bit installation) originally has the 32bit flag set to 1 like this:
    PE        : PE32
    32BIT     : 1
    but all the rest of the dlls (some are 3rd party) in my projects have this flag clear b/c they are AnyCPU. They are set like this:
    PE        : PE32
    32BIT     : 0
    so at runtime it throws BadImageFormatException b/c some dlls are AnyCPU and others are 32bit
    If I copy the 32bit Oracle.DataAccess.dll to my project's local folder, change the project to reference this local copy, and clear the dll's 32bit flag with corflags, making it AnyCPU, that works around the exception, and the project runs w/o apparent issues.  But I wonder whether clearing this flag would make this dll unsafe or poses any other problem.
    I'd appreciate if you could talk about the implications or side-effects, or if there's another way to solve this architecture/bit dilemma
    Is there an AnyCPU Oracle Client out there?
    Thank you in advance
    Sincerely,
    Richard

    Thanks to Mark for your advice. Let me say for the sake of clarity that I'd never think of corflag-ing the original dll not place an adultered dll in the GAC; I was thinking to place the changed dll in a local folder under the project (bin), and refer to this local copy
    I'm interested in the Managed Provider but I know nothing about it yet, and I'm sure I'd have to make source code changes in the projects. I'm not sure if the developers of the Oracle Client realize that we're not in a vacuum out here, and when something stops being supported, it breaks things businesses are using for day-to-day work; when a product stops being backwards compatible, it creates lots of problems that affect businesses. For example, I see recommendations like to rebuild the project as 32bit or 64bit, but these are not Hello World or demo projects, these projects depend on 3rd party components that aren't available in those architectures, they are only AnyCPU. There are also other dlls from other teams in-house, from which I don't own the source code. It's impractical to ask people who are busy working on their own assignments, to convert 6 or 7 projects which have been untouched for years w/o having a business need. Another issue with changing everything to 64bit is that these apps are running on development, test, and production servers, which are 32bit, so in order to move them to 64bit, infrastructure would have to migrate each one of these environments to new servers, then the apps would have to be tested by users of the business, wasting their time all over again again... Not practical
    All this trouble comes b/c I'm just moving my development machine to 64bits. I'm not supposed to be working/wasting time rewriting code that's locked under source control and has been tested and approved, and has been running in production for years. That's the reason why I'm not very pleased with the idea of the Managed Provider, b/c code that's in production, will have to be rewritten, deployed again in test, re-tested, and then released to production again, when there should be an AnyCPU version of the client and that'd be the end of it. All apps we have use the client, so eventually would everything have to be rewritten for this Managed Provider?
    If I install the Managed Provider is it likely to create issues with the Oracle Client I already have installed?
    Thank you very much
    Richard
