  • HT204088 How on earth did someone hack into my iTunes account and charge my visa/debit card? I didn't know until I got my bank statement with a fake phone # to call iTunes has this happened to anyone else?

How on earth does someone hack into my iTunes account and charge my visa/debit card? I got no emails from iTunes, so I know it's not them. This has happened twice to me and it's after I take out my credit information. I found out because of a bounced check, plus my bank statement had all the charges on it. They start small with just a few dollars but they do it every day sometimes twice a day. Then next to where they tell you who charged it, it says iTunes with a bogus phone# to call? In total they stole $224 from me. I was lucky my bank refunded the money stollen. Has this happened to anyone else?

People get their accounts hacked all the time. It's unfortunate, but true. To prevent this in the future, you need to:
    - choose a good password, with a mix of upper and lowercase letter and numbers, that someone wouldn't be able to guess by stalking you on social media sites
    - be aware of surroundings when entering a password, to be sure nobody's looking over your shoulder
    - be cautious of what you do on open wifi networks (ie, networks that do not require a password to join)
    - use a different password on each site
    - use a password manager so you don't have to remember all those different passwords

  • Someone is trying to hack into my Apple account

I just wanted to make mention of some forum questions I saw similar from earlier, like in June and July. It is now mid-October.
In the past couple weeks, on at least 3 occassions, I have received similar messages from apple, probably 3 each occassion.
    Hello.
To reset your Apple ID security questions and answers, simply click the link below. It will take you to a web page where you can create a new set of security questions and answers.
Please note that the link will expire three hours after this email was sent.
Reset your Apple ID security questions and answers
Didn’t request to reset your security information? Someone may be attempting to claim c•••••@gmx.net as their own Apple ID. Please go to appleid.apple.com to reset your password immediately.
For more information, visit the Apple ID Support site.
    Thanks,
    Apple Support
They have all referenced the same c******@gmx.net mail adddress. Two of the 3 messages I received last night were in German.
First time: I have a strong, unique password on my appleid account:  a password more than 16 random upper/lower alpha, numeric and symbols, I keep in a password safe application.
The second time I got these messages last weekend, I added 2-step authentication to my Apple account.
Last night, after getting more regarding my challenge questions, I got concerned, so I changed my strong password to another, in case they had acquired my password when Apple's Developer servers got hacked in the recent past.
As far as I can tell, I am doing everything "right" about creating, using and protecting my account.
But do you know what a pain in the rear end this is, to change a single appleid password? Each of my devices - 2 macs, iPad, iPhone - I have to change the iCloud login under settings. I have to change the logins in third party apps - my email program for example. This is a freaking nightmare.
And what really ****** me off is you hear nothing from Apple on this. They don't mention squat about what got hacked, and who's vulnerable. But someone got a hold of my account some how and is trying to complete the job and break into it.
Is there something else I should do?

Is there something else I should do?
You are doing everything right and you haven't been hacked. The only action you have not yet taken is to change your Apple ID.
It is very likely that someone is convinced your Apple ID is really theirs, and they're repeatedly attempting to reset their password. They click on the link to send an email to have it reset. You get the email with the link to reset it. If you did not request your password to be reset, the obvious thing to do is to ignore it.
Far from concluding this is a security flaw, it validates Apple's account security. By not responding to the email, you effectively prevented whoever is initiating the password reset request from getting any further.
It's a good idea to change your Apple ID password once in a while, but you do not have to change your password every time you get an email like that. Ignore it, but you will continue to get the email every time some hapless individual thinks your email address is their Apple ID. This can occur to anyone, as long as Apple uses email addresses for Apple IDs.
Safeguard your Apple ID just like you would any other personal information. It's probably not a good idea to use the usual email address you publicly use.

  • Someone got into my Apple account. Read description for more info.

Recently, someone gained access to my Hotmail account (I don't know how, I'm a pretty careful person, especially around computers) and used it to reset my Apple account password. I always just changed it back (thank God he/she was too stupid to change my Hotmail password), but when I realized they got access through my Hotmail, I reset all my passwords associated with the account. This worked and I haven't had any trouble since I did so. However, he/she continuously tries to reset my Apple password and my account gets flooded with Apple ID reset requests all the time. Is there any way to make it stop? It's getting really annoying.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Someone hacked into my itunes account

Someone hacked in to my itunes account and charged hundereds of pounds of downloads on to my credit card, how is this possible?

They hacked your account.  That is how it is possible.  I'm sure you could study and learn how hacking is accomplished if you desire.
Change your password, contact your credit card company and discuss reimbursement with them and then alert itunes support that your account has been hacked.

  • I have a iphone 4s that has been repeatedly illegally accessed remotely by someone hacking into my apple id/icloud account.  How do I find this 2nd device?  I have emails being edited/deleted to apple support due to smtp/imap server configurations

I need help desperately.  i have 8 Icloud email accounts that are being re routed to about 20 additional (yahoo, aol, gmail) accounts I do not own.
I have posted the email headers of all icloud accounts on shutterfly.  Repeated attempts to send to apple are either deleted or "edited".
    1) call me and i will tell you the log in info to view.  (just put up today 4/21)  waiting for apple sr. support monday
    <Personal Information Edited By Host>

If you so readily post private personal information on the internet, like you've just done with your phone number, and are so willing to give login info to complete strangers, I'm not surprised all your iCloud email accounts were so easily hacked.
But why on earth do you have EIGHT iCloud accounts? You can't personally use them all?
You need to change the passwords on these accounts to VERY secure passwords and delete the mail settings that are re-directing your emails.

    Dear Wendy Ott,
Your Apple ID, [email protected], was just used to download 胡莱三国 for iPad from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.
If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.
If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance.
    Regards,
    Apple

What is the best antivirus software for a Macbook Pro...I recently received a message from Google that someone made an attempt to hack into my mail account and I needed to change my PW and verify myself as the user.  The message suggested that I run a virus scan to check for sny malware or other types of viruses.  I do not have any software for this and up until now have not had a problem....any help is appreciated.  I would like a simple but effective solution!

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook.  Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever.  In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method.  It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been).  I have never received an email from Google of this nature.  I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.
