Someone rewrite the JMF API docs!
Anyone know if the data that comes out of an audio CaptureDevice is framed? Can it lose data (ie does it have a limited capture buffer?)
This really should have a device independent front end.
JMF is really, really bad. Unless you want to do absolutely nothing complicated or original. There's more to multimedia than streaming sound and video to or from a device. JMF is impossible to synchronise, or even get synchronised with. It does not define well the data it handles, and doesn't even interface well with the rest of Java!
This forum seems as useless as t*ts on a bull, unless you want to play and MPG from disk, which sux because the API docs for JMF leave out alot of information.
In case anyone here actually cares, I've given up. C++ here I come. Now it will take twice as long to develop but at least it will have some balls!

Where can I find the Java API doc for the OES PEP interfaces (OpenAZ API).
In the PepApiExample downlouded from Oracle web site at [PepApiExample |http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/id-mgmt/downloads/pepapiexample-1588440.zip], there are some Java API interfaces related OpenAZ API, but there is no the whole API docs, where I can get it?
Thanks.There should be a file called javadocs.jar in your portal installation directory. Either under SUNWps/sdk or SUNWps/export.

What is the relationship of javatv api,jmf api and mhp api ?
Whether all these three set of API are required to write digital tv program?
That depends on what the digital TV program (I assume you mean MHP application) wants to do. Specifically;
- javax.tv.xlet.Xlet is needed whatever you want to do.
- Most of the rest of JavaTV is only needed if you want to write an electronic program guide, e.g. to get at service information.
- If you want to write a program which manipulates the video & audio of the TV signal then you need the JMF API and also a small part of javax.tv.service.selection to get hold of the JMF player for the running TV content.
- The MHP APIs do many different things, again depending on what your application wants to do.
- You don't mention them but you also probably need some of the org.havi.ui APIs. In MHP, the top level graphics Container class for applications is an instance of org.havi.ui.HScene. Also the "VK_" constants for some of the remote control codes are only defined in org.havi.ui.HRcEvent.
See http://www.mhp-interactive.org for examples of how to use many of the MHP APIs. -
Using JMF API with Sun One Studio v4 update 1 (community ed.)
Having great difficulty trying to utilise the JMF API I've just downloaded with Sun One Studio v4, update 1 (community edition).
After installing the API, I tried copying the the .jar files under the lib folder of JMF to the lib folder of sun one studio.
Although admittedly a novice in the field of adding API's I have attempted to add the .jar files into the libary of recognised modules but made no progress.
The problem is that although JMF API is installed, Sun One Studio does not seem to be aware of this and so does not recognise any associated libraries e.g. java.media or JMFApplet.
I would appreciate advice from anyone who knows how to configure Sun One Studio to utilise the JMF API.
MarkAll right, I think I may have solved it. After mounting jmf.jar I needed to update the parser database. All the libraries seem to be there.
Can someone clarify though, the trial program i'm using makes reference to: java.media
I don't have this module. I do instead have javax.media which I believe includes all the methods of the java version. Am I right or am I missing this crucial module?? -
Hi,
I 've seen someone has asked about API doc for PJC (Pluggable java components) and there is no response on this matter.
Can someone from Oracle give us some hints on this?
Is this PJC still support in future version, it seems this will be phase out soon as the resource available for this components are so limited and it is discouraging people to use.
But how are people able to progressively migrate traditional form to J2ee without some transitional products to support such migration?
Regards,
anaHi,
PJCs will stay, same for Java Importer. You are right that we didn't publish any Javadocs until yet. I'll takle this one up to again suggest to the developers. Only the minority of classes though are Forms classes, the rest are UI classes with consume from an internal group.Just to be clear, PJCs, JavaBeans and Java in Forms will not phase out.
Note also that PJCs don't help you to migrate Forms to J2EE, they help you to use Java in Forms.

Problems with environments and transactional mode in the Python API
Hello everyone,
I have been having problems with the Python API, and I wonder if anyone can comment? I am using DB XML version 2.2.13, with python 2.3 (RedHat linux WS 4.0) and python 2.4 (SuSE 10.1) with identical results. I started with a simple example:
#!/usr/bin/python
"""XPath example from http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp
ported to DbXML
from bsddb3.db import *
from dbxml import *
books = """<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<bookstore>
[xml data omitted for brevity]
</bookstore>"""
if __name__ == "__main__":
conFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_NOMMAP
myMgr = XmlManager()
myMgr.setDefaultContainerFlags(conFlags)
myMgr.setDefaultContainerType( XmlContainer.NodeContainer)
uc = myMgr.createUpdateContext()
container = myMgr.createContainer("books.dbxml")
container.putDocument("books.xml", books, uc)So far, so good - this works, and creates a container books.dbxml that I can open and query. Next, I try to instantiate the XmlManager using an environment:
if __name__ == "__main__":
envFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_PRIVATE
conFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_EXCL | DB_NOMMAP
myEnv = DBEnv()
myEnv.open("/home/pkeller/dbxml_tests", envFlags, 0)
myMgr = XmlManager(myEnv, DBXML_ADOPT_DBENV)
myMgr.setDefaultContainerFlags(conFlags)
myMgr.setDefaultContainerType( XmlContainer.NodeContainer)
uc = myMgr.createUpdateContext()
container = myMgr.createContainer("books.dbxml")
container.putDocument("books.xml", books, uc)This fails with the following output:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "w3school_xpath_c2.py", line 60, in ?
container = myMgr.createContainer("books.dbxml")
File "/scratch_bernoulli/pkeller/dbxml/install/lib/python2.3/site-packages/dbxml.py", line 125, in createContainer
def createContainer(*args): return dbxml.XmlManagercreateContainer(*args)
RuntimeError: Error: Invalid argument
Segmentation faultA bit odd - I can't find anything in the docs about the required arguments to XmlManager.createContainer being different if an environment has been used explicitly.
Anyway, I persevered (my aim being to use transactional mode in Python). Changing the environment and container flags like so:
envFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_LOG | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_TXN | DB_PRIVATE
conFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_EXCL | DBXML_TRANSACTIONAL | DB_NOMMAPThis change allowed the script to run, outputting the single classic line:
Segmentation fault(the C++ API docs at http://www.sleepycat.com/xmldocs/gsg_xml/cxx/transaction.html#initializetransaction are incorrect by the way - there is no flag DB_TRANSACTIONAL).
In spite of the segfault, the file "books.dbxml" was produced and could be queried by another application. A transaction log file "log.0000000001" was also written (10485760 bytes long).
Running this last example again with "python -v" showed that the segfault was being produced during the python's cleanup phase:
# clear __builtin__._
# clear sys.path
# clear sys.argv
# clear sys.ps1
# clear sys.ps2
# clear sys.exitfunc
# clear sys.exc_type
# clear sys.exc_value
# clear sys.exc_traceback
# clear sys.last_type
# clear sys.last_value
# clear sys.last_traceback
# clear sys.path_hooks
# clear sys.path_importer_cache
# clear sys.meta_path
# restore sys.stdin
# restore sys.stdout
# restore sys.stderr
# cleanup __main__
Segmentation faultCan anyone clarify what is going on? I had been hoping to deploy DB XML as an alternative to something more admin-heavy, but with this behaviour that would be hard to justify. A dirty exit from Python means that no-one will consider trusting their data to this engine (or am I doing something wrong?).
Regards,
Peter.Peter,
Your first failure -- invalid argument -- was due to an invalid combination of
flags to DBEnv.open(). Along with DB_CREATE you need at least DB_INIT_MPOOL.
As you can see, it worked once you added more flags.
The second, cleanup problem (segmentation fault) is the result of out of order
destruction of objects. This is fixed in the next release (later this year), but
you can work around it by ensuring that your XmlContainer and XmlManager
objects are deleted/cleaned up before the DBEnv object.
Python will cleanup in reverse order of creation, unless you perform explicit
deletions, which is also fine (e.g. del container, del myMgr).
Explicit deletion is always safe.

I'm looking for the Java API docs for the oracle.lbs.mapclient.MapViewer bean.
The mapviewer .pdf file has an API section, but only inludes descriptions of some of the arguments passed to the various methods. I'm using the 9.04 release - where should I look for these docs and/or source code?
Thanks,
Eric Everman
USGSOK - I found them. They are part of the 9.04 kit as part of the web application.
***NOTE: It would be if oracle had all of its javadoc in one location, rather then rely on installations to provide docs.***
If others are looking for them, they are available as part of the installed web application at:
host:port:context/mapclient
Or, if you want file access to them, unzip the mapviewer.ear file that comes with the kit. From that unzip the web.war file. The viewerbean API docs are then located in the mapclient subdirectory. -
Hi,
through the search on otn, I found this url:
http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/docs/Javadocs/index.html
for the Java API docs for Reports. However, the frames in that page are empty. Has the documentation been relocated?
Greetings,
IvoI noticed that Java API docs have appeared here. I'm not sure if this is a recent addition or not....

Hi,
Is there any way to generate Java API Doc from the class files? I downloaded a set of Java class files from a web site, but it does not have any API docs, so I am hoping I can still generate the API docs from them?
Any ways?
thanks.so if I have no Java source file, there is no way to generate the java API docs?
As I said, I downloaded a set of java classes, but without java doc inside it, I wanna generate the java doc to use them.
any one can help? -
Hello:
I'm posting here because I don't really know where to post this question.
Are the Java API docs available as XML?
Thanks!
GregI don't think so. I believe they come in the "javadoc" format only,
besides the HTML ones that are hosed online on java.sun.com. -
Where is the url about the JDBC API docs? I appreciate for any reply.
JohnsonYou can also refer the Java doc here

Need Java API doc for the preference Manager class
Where can I get Java Doc for the following classes
import oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.preference.Preference;
import oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.preference.PreferenceException;
import oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.preference.PreferencesManager;
import oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.preference.PreferencesManagerFactory;
Thanks,
BalaThe API is the same (that's the whole point with Java), and last time I checked there were programs on Linux that can handle zipfiles and html files. :)
So yes, use the same.
(That is, unless you have downloaded the windows help format api docs. Then you need to download the regular html ones.) -
Classes are missing in the api doc's
Some of the class that my java book says are available aren't documented on th web. Am I missing something, or is the api doc behind the times?
Here is the result of pervel's manual API search service: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/awt/Graphics.html
Do you need any other searches done? -
Javafx.scene.layout.Priority missing from the API Doc
I notice there is an important class "javafx.scene.layout.Priority" missing from the JavaFX 1.3 API Doc. I can still use that class without any problems in my apps.
Thanks for spotting that - I'll fix that before the next release.
