Sorry, Scanner can not be initialized

Hi,
I recently updated my OS to Windows 7. I have a document that I need to scan. I have an HP scanner Scanjet 3400C which I haven't used for quite a while so I decided to install it to my desktop. I was able to install it but whenever I try to use it I'm getting that message saying "sorry, scanner can not be initialized". I am not sure if there's a problem with the scanner or if there's a problem with the program's compatibility with my OS.

My solution for MY problem;
My printer is connected through a powered USB hub which is connected to my mini.
When I tried connecting a spare USB keyboard through the same hub, it also didn't work so I
powered the computer down, removed power from the hub, disconnected it from the computer, then
reversed the steps(connected the hub to computer and powered it on).
When I restarted my Mini I found the keyboard now worked - then checked the printer which also now
works again.
This solution will likely only apply if you are using an external hub ;-)
It solved my problem.

Hi,
I suggest uninstalling the printer drivers from your HP printer. The go to System Preferences> Printer & Fax and in the printer list box go ahead and reset the printing system. Do that by right clicking over the printer list box ad the option should appear. After that close system preferences and reinstall your printer drivers from the HP CD. After installation check if your printer works as expected, if it does, stop here and ignore the rest of the message.
If you don't have the install CDs for the printer or the previous step does not work; connect your printer to your Mac via USB and then again go to system preferences. Open the Print & Fax menu and in the printer list box you should see a "+" sign. Click on it, and a new window should appear with a list of printers that are available to you. If that's the case, go ahead click your printer name and wait for the computer to look in the Apple servers for the drivers. When searching is finished click the "install" button. This process will open software update and install the neccesary drivers.
After that, you should be able to scan documents with the Preview App.

is it possible to stop the exchange server 2010 from automatically populating the outlook clients inbox with new emails forcing the users to press send and receive every time they want to collect emails?
I thought it was but I can no longer find any information on this.

Based on my known, I'm afraid that there is no way to realize it on exchange server.
Could you tell me why you do this?
If you want to control the size of mailboxes, you can configure mailbox storage quotas for a mailbox.
If you want to delete specific message or messages from the specific sender or domain, you can create transport rule to do it. Or you can set outlook rule to do it.

Scanner does not work after installiing snow leopard.

I get this message sorry scanner could not be initialised (scanner not Found) I tried going on HP site to re download the driver but to no avail can someone please help me this is driving me crazy.

Scanner 6300C not communicating with Toshiba Satellite/Windows ME

I recently restored Windows ME on a Toshiba 2805 Satellite notebook. I'm having a problem connecting an HP 6300C scanner by way of USB cable. In my Device Manager, the 6300C shows up as an installed scanner and is shown connected to the USB Root Hub (under Universal Serial Bus controllers). However starting the HP Scanjet software from the CD-installed icon, I get the message that the computer is: "Unable to communicate with the imaging device . . . " and "the scanner could not be initialized." So, can I get some help on this problem. Thanks. -- Gene

Photosmart 2710 - scanner can bot be initialised

I have a photsmart 2710 which recently has started coming up with an error messsage saying that the scanner can not be found when we try to scan from HP Device Manager. This has always worked in the past. We use Mac OSX 10.7. it is very furstrating. we have tried uninstalling HP and then reisntalling but this has not worked. Does anyone have any ideas that could help? Printing is all fine thankfully.

Computer can not find 6310 scanner on network

6310 all in one working fine both printing and scanning then all of a sudden Photo smart can not find the scanner on the network. The printer continues to work fine. How can I get both of my network computers to fing the scanner ?

Sorry for not getting back. I tried all the suggestions and could not see the server. It was not showing up in the ipconfig /all except when I queried at the server. I could not get a successful ping from the client either.
However, a little digging, and some conversations with prior admins of the domain, I have determined there was no real domain. The 2003 server was there in name only, the client pc's were just doing their own thing and just using shared folders in the server.
The domain controller was a Qwest (telephone company internet) modem and still is because the guy who programed it will not give me the password until we can meet and he can see what I am trying to do -- go figure that one.
However, all that being said I was able to change one client pc's hosts file and add the server static ip and name and then like magic the "//server2012/connect" worked just as advertised. So I connect that pc, a user for it and the server
is acting just as it should for that pc, the old server and itself under the right domain name.
I still can not get to the outside world with remote web connect as the Qwest Modem is blocking the connection; my guess is the right ports are not forwarded. My solution seems to be getting access to the modem and transferring the DNS, and probably the
DHCP, control from it to the server 2012.
So I appreciate the help so far, but I feel I can not really ask for more help until I get control of the whole network and perform some more diagnostics. Should I close this question and open a new one in the future when I have one?

I just bought a HP Officejet 150 Mobile All-in-One. I installed the complete software package (downloaded from HP Site) with bluetooth on a windows 7 Acer Aspire S5 laptop. Printing seems to work fine, but when starting HP Scan, i get the following error message:
Saing that the software can not find the scanner with suggestions to solve it.
Is it possible to scan with a buetooth connection? Any other suggestions what is going wrong?

Scanning is not supported through a Bluetooth connection, only printing is available for such connectivity, You will need a USB in order to scan:

NOTEcan functions are not available through a Bluetooth connection. Scan functions are supported only through a USB connection.

The scanner of my MX7600 in Windows 8.1 can not do half of what it did in Windows 7. When fixed

I just replaced my old desktop PC that was running Windows 7 because it stopped working. My new desktop PC is running Windows 8.1. I downloaded the new MX7600 drivers from the Canon website for Windows 8.1, and I discovered the scanner driver can not scan a double sided document in the document feeder. It says it can scan a single side only. If I scan from the flatbed (platen), it scans only one page and then it exits from the software. I can not find a way to scan a multiple page document on the document glass into a single file. And the driver can not create a PDF file. If I use the scanner controls to create a PDF file, the scanner driver discards the file. The Properties say the driver response to Save PDF File is Do Nothing. When will the Windows 8.1 drivers be updated to restore the functionality I had in Windows 7? Also, I spent 12 hours trying to download the User Manual from the Canon website, and I finally figured out the Download button on the website is only downloading the website page instead of the manual. So the website can not download a simple PDF file properly. When will all of this be fixed?

Try this
go into the control panel (hover in the lower right corner to bring up the menu that leads you there)
go to programs, add/remove programs
uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device service, apple application support
then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes. Try again to sync
There seems to be something where an iTunes update doesn't write over all the drivers. The only way to m ake it write the right drivers is to delete the old ones and force iTunes to start over.
You won't lose any of your music.

There is a solution (I'm running Snow Leopard on a Core2Duo iMac, but this problem arose when I was running Leopard on a G4 PowerBook too).
Problem:
You download the OS X driver for the scanner from Canon's site. I already had the CanoScan Toolbox (4.1) stored on an external drive.
You unzip the driver and run the VISE installer. After a search it finds your copy of Photoshop (and maybe even the CanoScan Toolbox), and you click to install on that/those location(s).
You get a couple of error messages, which you click through.
You restart your computer and try to run the scanner but you get an error that the driver is wrong or missing and the process will abort.
Solution:
BEFORE you restart, and with the installer package still open -
1. Copy the Into_CFMSupport_Login & Into_CMPrefs folders to
Applications : Canon Utilities
Applications : Canoscan Toolbox
and remove the prefix Into_ from each folder
2. Check whether the installer placed N067U_Library.shlb into the top level (not User level)
Library : CFMSupport
and if it didn't, move it there yourself
THEN restart, and try again. It worked for me (via Photoshop), but whether it will work for everyone, I don't know.

Time Machine wants 16 days to do an initial backup. ps shows PRI = 33 with NI = 0.   But I can not get sudo renice to set PRI less than 15. And renice sets NI directly with strange behavior for PRI. Any suggestions?

Time Machine said it would take 16 days to do an initial backup, and indeed, after many days it is less than a quarter done.   (The problem started when I put in a new bank disk for Time Machine to write to for its backup file.)
Activity Monitor shows that the process name is   backups   with Process ID   6060.
Then putting this PID in Terminal UNIX command ps gave:

Wow! A priority of 33!
Don't know how that happened, but the way to fix that (I thought) is with renice.
But renice doesn't work.
After a lot of playing with renice and ps, it looks as though renice can not make the priority better than (no less than) 15.
And the parameter you put in, that according to the man page that is supposed to be priority, turns out to be "nice index", with priority changed by sometimes subtracting or sometimes adding either this number or twice this number - down to a limit of priority no less than 15.

This is with OSX 10.7.5 and Terminal 2.2.3 on an early 2009 Mac Pro with lots of memory.
What am I dong wrong, and any suggestions for how to fix my Time Machine process?

The backup file size is 1.67 TB.*
That's across the internal bus of a 2009 quad-core Mac Pro - which is pretty fast.
Copying an hour's worth of MPEG-2 HD takes about a minute.
I do a fresh backup from scratch about once a year, and the last time it finished over night.
This time the first Time Machine backup is only about 1/5 complete after many days, and Activity Monitor shows essentially no use of disk drives or of CPU. And in the first note I pointed out what is gleaned by using Terminal to execute the UNIX ps command. The priority of the running Time Machine process looks incorrect to me.
I could be wrong, but I think the problem is process priority, not file size.
I am unable to set priority to 0 or a negative number. Can someone straighten me out on how to do that?
[*The machine has four 1.5 TB disk drives in it plus lots of memory. Two of the physical drives are configured as one 3 TB backup drive (RAID concatanated).]
