Sorting with Number iwork 08

Suppose the numbers 10,20,30 are in column B and in the rows 1,2,3.
Supose the numbers 300,200,100 are in the column C and in the rows 1,2,3.
Is it possible to sort the column C (in increasing order) without changing column B?

Are you saying that it's a poor design to assume that users are able to use a brain ?
Here I uses plain Numbers with no extraneous feature.
In "colonne 3" are stored the values which must appear in column 3 of Tableau 1
In "colonne 4" are stored the values which must appear in column 4 of Tableau 1
In column 3 of tableau 1 I use the very complex formula:
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),2,,,"colonne 3"))
In column 4 of tableau 1 I use the very complex formula:
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),2,,,"colonne 4"))
When I want to apply a sort on values of colum 3, I sort the table "colonne 3".
When I want to apply a sort on values of colum 4, I sort the table "colonne 4".
This is far from poor design. It's neat one !

Other Problems with installing iWork

I had to go through the whole "i had the demo and now I'm trying to install the full version" and i did everything people suggested. I finally got it to install and when it says its complete, i find the iWork folder in applications but it's empty. I don't know where everything might have been placed or if there is a problem of some sort. When i try searching for iWork in spotlight two file folders named iWork come up (one empty, on with the iWork tour) and 2 files named something like iWork fonts and iWork extras.
if anyone has any idea on what i should do please let me know.
I think the problem might have to do with the serial number from my old demo. when installing the full version, it doesn't ask for a new serial number.

This is absolutly fantastic, i had the same problem. After trying to delete the demo version i then had problems trying to install the full version. But the trick is to get rid of all the signatures, iWorks Pages and Keynote (using spotlight this is dead eaasy). then do the install and works like a dream! thanks guys!

Sorting with nulls last on the fact column

anybody tell me how to do the sorting with nulls last in the template? i can't change anything in data model or anywhere other than template.
i did try to put the descending order,but null values are coming in between positive and negative values.

Dynamic SORT with multiple components

Hi all,
I want to sort an internal table in this way:
SORT itab BY (component).
This is not difficult if "component" contains the name of ONE column of itab. But - and here is my problem - how can I sort with multiple components?
Like this:
SORT itab BY (comp_1) (comp_2) ... (comp_N).
The number of components (N) shall be flexible. It is not possible to concatenate the components into one string-variable. This causes an error ITAB_ILLEGAL_COMPONENT.
Brillant would be a solution which also contains the sort-direction (ASCENDING or DESCENDING for each component like this:
SORT itab BY (comp_1) (dir_1)
(comp_2) (dir_2)
(comp_N) (dir_N).
Is there a way to do so?

The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Field symbols not allowed as sort criterion.
Effect
The entries in the internal table are sorted in ascending order using the key from the table definition (DATA, TYPES).
Addition 1
... BY f1 f2 ... fn
Effect
Uses the sort key defined by the sub-fields f1, f2, ..., fn of the table itab instead of the table key. The fields can be of any type; even number fields and tables are allowed.
You can also specify the sort fields dynamically in the form (name). If name is blank at run time, the sort field is ignored. If itab is a table with a header line, you can also use a field symbol pointing to the header line of itab as a dynamic sort criterion. A field symbol that is not assigned is ignored. If a field symbol is assigned, but does not point to the header line of the internal table, a runtime error occurs.
If the line type of the internal table contains object reference variables as components, or the entire line type is a reference variable, you can use the attributes of the object to which a reference is pointing in a line as sort criteria (see Attributes of Objects as the Key of an Internal Table
You can address the entire line of an internal table as the key using the pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE. This is particularly relevant for tables with a non-structured line type when you want to address the whole line as the key of the table (see also Pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE With Internal Tables).
If you use one of the additions 2 to 5 before BY, it applies to all fields of the sort key by default. You can also specify these additions after each individual sort field f1, f2, ..., fn. For each key field, this defines an individual sort rule which overrides the default.

i have procedure with sorting technic..
for sorting i have used code like this
......select ...... .. select ...... rownum rn from table_name
                         where cond...
         where pagenumber ...... pagesize........
but now i want display result according to sorting,
with alphabetic sorting.
means if a user want to search name like start with name "M"
i want to display result with starting letter is "M" as follows...
and also user want to move <<next> <<last>> <<first>> <previouse>>for this any doc's or sample example or any ideas

Hi,
ROWNUM shows the order in which a row was received.
If the source of the data is a table, then the order is undefined, and ROWNUM is arbitrary.
If the source of the data is a sub-query or a view, then ROWNUM reflects the ORDER BY clause of that sub-query or view. If there is no ORDER BY clause, then ROWNUM is arbitrarty.
If you want a Pagination Query , where you each page has a given size (it looks like 3 in your example), and you want to display only one given page (page #2 in your example), then you can use ROWNUM, but assign ROWNUM after the data is ordered.
So you could modify the query you posted like this:
SELECT * FROM
   SELECT ENAME,    EMPNO,    SAL
   ,      ROWNUM   AS RN               -- ROWNUM is meaningful here (source is ordered)
   FROM

I think the analytic ROW_NUMBER function is better than ROWNUM for this kind of thing.
Also, consider using variables instead of the "magic numbers" 2 and 3 in your WHERE clauses.
The following query produces the same results as the query above:

Trying to compare item with number in PL/SQL report

I'm using for my report SQL Query (PL/SQL Function body returning SQL Query). And I found that I can't to write:
if v('ITEM_NAME')=1 then ..., because it is 'missing expression' error.
I can only
if v('ITEM_NAME') IS NULL then ...
or
if v('ITEM_NAME') IS NOT NULL then ...
Why I can't to compare item value, for example, with number?

We are upgrading our BW Java from 7.0 to 7.4 SPS 07 and are in now in Execution Phase.
Java system is not getting started.
An error has occurred during the execution of the Start Java step.
Could not start SAP instance with number 4. The instance with number 4 on host <hostname> could not be started within the specified timeout.
In error logs
Jul 8, 2014 11:31:16 AM [Error ]: Start of instances exceeded the timeout of 7200s.
Jul 8, 2014 11:31:16 AM [Warning]: The instance could not be started. Will retry after a pause of 15 seconds.
Jul 8, 2014 11:31:31 AM [Error ]: The following problem has occurred during step execution: com.sap.sdt.util.diag.DiagException: Could not start SAP instance with number 4.

Please check if the instance exists in the system instance list with number 4 and <hostname>.
sapcontrol -nr 04 -function GetSystemInstanceList
If so, add SAPLOCALHOST and SAPLOCALHOSTFULL parameters to the following Java and SCS instance parameter files.
Java instance parameter file: /SUM/sdt/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_JC04_<hostname>
SCS instance parameter file: /SUM/sdt/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_SCSXX_<hostname>
After adding the parameters, restart the sapstartsrv services for both of the above instances:
sapcontrol -nr 04 -function RestartService
sapcontrol -nr XX -function RestartService
Repeat the failed step.

Exporting a single Event retains the Event name which is what I'd expect. But highlighting more than one event and exporting it renames the images to Events 001.JPG, Event 002.JPG etc.
I was recently on holidays and had all my events nicely split on Dad's computer but when I went to export it I couldn't retain any of this information. Now I have to replicate this all again on my computer.
It wasn't possible to export the entire library as the external drive was fat32 format an I didn't want all of it. It would be nice to export a bunch of events to someone and have it retain the name.
Does anyone have a work around or will this be fixed at some point by Apple?

CSV to Excel 2013 - Issue with number format

Hi,
I use Excel 2013 to manipulate CSV files. I experienced issue with number format cells. In my CSV file there is one column that presents latitude values in format: 52.05456464. When I open my CSV file in Excel 2013 all values in that column get separator
".", in this case my number is present like this: 52.054.454.464. I tried to change my cell format, and when opened the category was Number, I change it to the General but in that case I lost all "." and got 52054454464.
I also tried to open same file on other machine with Excel 2010 and file is opened correctly without issues and in cell format the category is general by default.
I hope that there is some kind of resolution for this.

According to your description, we may follow these steps:
highlight the column B > Home Tab > Number section > Select Number and choose "More Number Format" > Make sure the Negative number is chosen correctly. If you are using Custom format, we will have to change it.

A simple question about wrong sorting with multiple sort columns in Excel 2010

Hi, everyone! I have encountered a problem that I don't know how to explain.
So I post it here because I don't know if there is another more relevant forum...
I have a data sheet with the students' scores for the course.
All the data were generated with the randbetween function,
and pasted with the values.
To rank the students by their performance,
I did the sort with the column "total score" as the first sort-column
and "final term" as the second.
The weird thing to me is that the order of the data seems problematic.
That is, all the rows are sorted correctly with the first sort-column.
But for the rows with the same values of the first sort-column,
there are some rows whose values of the second sort-column are out of order.

Please change the "_dot_" to the real literal dot.
Especially the rows with 56.7 as the first sort-column value
and some other values near the tail of the list.)
I tried to manually input and sort the same values of both columns
in a near-by region. The result was correct.
When some friend copied all the data to paste in Notepad,
and reload them in excel. The problem disappears.
Some friend also tried to wrap a round function at the values of the 1st sort-column,
the sorting order became correct!
But they could not explain why either.
How confusing! I even tried to swap the first and secod sort-column;
the output was right.
All the data were generated by randbetween function and pasted with values.
Where could all the special characters, if any, come?
Can anyone give me an explanation? I would be very grateful.

Re: Sort is not in proper order
Sounds as if the data includes spaces or hidden characters that are affecting the sort.
That is indicated by the fact that manually entering the data resolves the problem.

Sort by number of images in a stack

I use stacks a great deal, we have the ability to sort by rating, by picks, by date, etc etc, a very useful way would be to sort by number in stack.
I stack images and then batch process so say a selection of 27 images arranged in stacks of 3, followed by a selection of 12 images arranged in stacks of 4.
This would make my work flow so much faster, that or a way to select all the images in a stack, like cmd click top image to select all in the stack, that would work, providing I was then able to cmd click another stack and select all those images as well.

is there a limit in the number of images in a folder? the number of images in a slide show?
None that I know off. But why are you asking? Did you notice any performance problems or problems to render the slideshow? Then it would help to know more about your hardware RAM, disk, CPU ..

I'd expect the limiting factor to the length of a slide show to be the patience and "Good Will" of your intended audience
