  • Citi Double Cash Decline

I was pre-approved for the Citi Double Cash and since I just got the Lowes card I decided to apply. I was rejected because the system saw too many INQs on EX this year and too many new cards open. I spoke to a very nice supervisor in their call center and she said the buck stops there. Nobody can recon and she said I can write a letter to the company. I called 800-347-4934. My FICO 8 scores are in my sig. I have a 1% UTIL and PIF all cards each month. The bottom line was only the new cards and the HP. I told her how I check it faithfully and pointed out there was no HP since April. The answer was no human will reconsider their internal models. Any comments or helpful hints? I'm really disappointed that the HP was wasted.

They'll pull EQ sometimes.  So the answer was absolutely, positively no way. She kept pointing to the number of new cards since 2015 and the inquiries. She actually said there were several inquiries in 2014, and I pointed out and she agreed, those were when I was getting a loan for my truck and not CCs. I didn't apply for any credit cards for 20 years prior to 2015. I actually searched on here in the archives and felt confident based on others who had apped for this card that I wouldn't have a problem. So, Citi doesn't care about my 1% UTIL, PIF each month and keep track of my score and inquiries. I named each EQ inquiry for 2015, the card and the date pulled, then told her my FICO 8 score for EQ is 798 just so she knows I'm keeping close tabs on my credit. Not good enough. Not the end of the world, I'm more than satisfied with what I've got, but really liked the 2% cashback. Discover with the double cash for the next 12 months and QS 1.5% will be my go to cards for larger purchases.  The main reason I did this app was that I was in the garden for 2 months, my wife and I had a reason to app for the Lowes card, which I was approved for a $10k limit, so figured before going back in the garden, get the Citi Double Cash with the pre-approval on their website. They're about as tough as FNBO for a stupid Sheetz gas card back in April that I got turned down for. This is my 2nd rejection ever for CC in my life.   Back to the garden again I go.....Sorry to hear.  It really seems hard to beleive with your scores.  I bought a car last year and moto for hubby,  Makes you wonder what's programmed in the machine along with the CSR's.  I would try again later. Time is the magic word.  You didn't do anything wrong.  I hope to be at your scores in another 6-12 months.  I'm still shaking my head on this one! Don't think I'll app for Sallie Mae. I really don't want to go thru the same recon mess I just went through tonight again for a while. Thanks for the kiind words. You'll achieve the higher scores in the next year I'm sure. I'm pretty sure my EQ will take a drop for this, however a $4k CLI is going to report in a few days from AMEX BCE. Maybe that will offset it.

  • Chase Southwest and Citi Double Cash!

Two new cards in my wallet! Last Friday received an offer in the mail for Citi double cash. I responded to the offer and instantly approved with a credit limit of 1,500$.Yesterday i got an email offer for Chase Southwest. Since I'm almost always flying with Southwest and it was offering 50,000points as  a bonus after spending 2,000 in the first 3 months, I decided to apply! After applying a message appeared saying to call as soon as possible at 877-260-0087 etc. I called today morning and after verifying some info got approved for 2,500$!!! In terms of pulls, Chase pulled only EX and Citi both EX and EQ.  I now have 9 credit cards (5 new cards since June 2015: amex ED, amex bce, freedom, citi and southwest)and a total of 27,000$ in credit with a credit history of only 9 months! Annual salary around 55,000$.    EX fico: 660, 12 inquiries. TU fico 678. EQ i do not know but suppose it is higher than the rest cause i only have 5 inquiries there. Credit utilization: 26%Cards: bofa cash rewards sign visa 8,000$, chase freedom 3,500$, discover it 2,500$, cap 1 platinum 2,000$, cap 1 journey 1,500$, amex ED 4,500$, amex bce 1,000$, citi dc 1,500$ and chase southwest 2,500$.

Congratulations! Chase pulled both EX and EQ for both my Marriott and Hyatt cards earlier this year.Citi pulled both EX and EQ for the AAdvantage card I was just approved for.Oh well, they age off soon enough.

  • Trying to decide if I should apply for the Citi Double Cash

I have a ton of inquiries.  Wanting to garden, but I want to try.  Just approved for a Venture for $5k a few days ago.  CLI with Citi AAdvantage yesterday.  Denied for both Delta Exp and Amex.  Denied for even a Macys CLI even though that's just a soft pull.  I think the Delta wasn't even a pull because when I went to check on the status, it was "canceled" instead of denied - may have been because I applied for the Amex the day prior. Really wanting that Citi Double.  I know, I'm an addict now.

Citi likes to pull EQ and EX, which are your lowest scores respectively.  That, coupled with your INQ's, probably won't bode well for your recon. I wouldn't apply for DC again until you see that you're prequalified online for it (where you are given a specific APR range).  Cold apping for it is risky, especially if you have a lot of INQ's.  The DC is probably Citi's toughest card to get given its UW requirements.  Sorry to hear about the decline.

  • Discover Double Cash CLI

I just requested the double cash offer on the last day of my last statement. A few days later, I received an email from Discover saying I was getting a CLI. It was just over a 30% increase. Has anyone else found they were given a CLI after signing up for this promotion? I'm wondering if Discover isn't trying to increase spending power, in hopes that people will end up in debt, having to pay a lot of interest as a result of the promotion. It could potentially be a good way fr them to make their money back and then some. Just thought it was interesting that I rarely get CLIs and I just happen to get my biggest one ever from them right after signing up.

    Kostya1992 wrote:
Can someone enlighten me here or is this how it works? 1. Discover buys an espensive insurance package2. Discover starts throwing money at people, offering some amazing promotions3. Promotion ends, variable APR kicks in, APR ticks for a few months or years and person defaults on Discover, unable to pay4. Discover files an insurance claim, getting the full apr-inflated balace paid back to them by insurance, having already profitted from swipe fees + previous payments5. Discover sells account to collection agency, making even more $$$$ Am I missing anything?I seriously doubt they could recoup the entire balance from insurance and then sell the debt on assignment; though, I have no idea how these things work behind the scenes. I would assume that once the balane is paid, by whomever, then it can't be collected further.

  • Has the discover double cash back changed your lineup?

so with the double cash back promo i no longer use my 1.5% cash back NFCU cashRewards because it doesn't reward me as much now. has this new promo made you SD any cards?

    fitchaber10 wrote:
For me it definitely has not. DC is still better for everyday purchases because you get the second 1% as soon as you pay. You don't have to wait for a year to get it, unlike Discover. To me, the non universal acceptance of Discover means it is only good for the rotating categories and Discover Deals. For everything else, your best bet is to use a different card.Exactly ^^^^^ I don't have Double Cash (BK7 still reporting) but I use Barclays Rewards MC for 2% rewards on gas, groceries & utilities, and Quicksilver 1.5% for most other purchases, I'm not going to wait a year for another 1% from Discover first year double cash back. I use Discover for Discover Dealss or current quarter 5%. I did a nice purchase at HomeDepot.com for 5% through the Discover Deals portal + 5% for current qtr home improvement. Now waiting a year for another 5% or 10% is definately worth the wait.

  • Citi AAdvantage online CLI request question..

I requested a CLI for my Citi AA card online yesterday and I received a message stating --"A Credit limit increase was requested. We'll contact you soon with a decision." Just wondering is anyone has ever received this before ? I tried calling the EO office and they stated to wait for a call. FYI - This is a brand new account and the card was just activated yesterday. Thanks in advance.

  • US Bank Cash+ CLI

Was really surprised to get an offer to raise my limit on this card the other day.  I've only had the card for about 1 year and a few months and they offered to raise it to 10k from 6k with a 5 dollar bonus -- based on a review as of October 16, 2014.  I also have a regular Cash rewards card that I've had since 2011 and that limit remains at 3500 and never an offer to increase.  Although, I asked once for a HP and was declined.  Subsequently, they did lower the apr on the regular card to 13.99. Anyways, I answered their 2 questions and voila:  Congratulations!Congratulations. Subject to final credit processing, your credit line will increase by $4,000.00, raising your total credit line to $10,000.00 for this account. Please allow 2-3 business days for final processing, after which time any new credit line will be available. You will also receive written confirmation via U.S. Mail in 7-10 business days. I assume since Barclays gave me a 9500 limit in Aug and USAA increased  2 of my cards from 5k to 11k last month, that US BANK wants to remain competitive, which is fine by me -- I'll take it!!

This is one of those "you snooze, you lose" types of deals for existing cardholders, unfortunately.  I was skeptical of this promo from when I first heard about it, because when it was first displayed on Discover's site, it was pretty clear even then, that this was only meant to be a promo for new card holders.  It contained verbiage like.......first year of account. I know that the OP is upset, but I got a chuckle when I read the title of this thread.  It's so dramatic. lol. There are better cards to earn 2% Cashback, and you don't even have to wait a year to get the second half.

  • Did Citi really do it?

A little over a year ago, I started my credit journey as I was added to my parent's 5 year Fidelity Amex account with a CL of $12,500.  A few months after that I was added to my parent's 29 year Discover account with a CL of $15,000.  A few months after that I took a gamble and applied for a Chase Freedom (during the spend $500 get $200 back promo), and I approved for a CL of $1,400.  The same day that I applied for the Freedom, I also applied for the Citi Double Cash card.  I was given the 7-10 day message, a few weeks went by after talking to Citi analysts my application was declined due to lack of income.  A few weeks after that, I took another gamble and applied for the Amex Hilton HHonors (no AF) and was approved for $2000 after talking to E.O. because I haven't filed taxes (did not meet income requirements).  About 4 months after that, I did a CLI request for both Freedom (asked for $2800) and AMEX (asked for $6000)....  Freedom denied it due to I had the maximum amount of credit available to me.  AMEX approved it instantly.  I've had a bunch of issues with Chase E.O. recently regarding failure to give me Ultimate Rewards points that I was supposed to earn.  Due to that, I wanted to look into getting another card.  I decided to see if I was pre-qualified for the Citi Double Cash, and......................... So now to today (August 6th)....  I applied (even though I wanted to stay in the Garden until December 2016) for Citi Double Cash today after being pre-qualified for it.  I got instantly approved for a CL of $7000 with the 0% financing for 15 months.  My updated CL across my own cards is now $14,400, which I strongly believe for a 21 year old college junior with 2 part time jobs is pretty good. I will be putting my Chase Freedom away except for a 5% cashback bonus. I am so excited about finally being a Citi cardmember! I AM STAYING IN THE GARDEN UNTIL AT LEAST DECEMBER 2016 NOW!

  • Is Citi trying to be funny?

Back on June 26 I left the Garden after 2 months to apply for the Citi Double Cash. I went to their website and I had a pre-qual with specific APR. So, I applied and was promptly turned down. Two recons later I was told there was no way I would get the card at all because of too many INQs and new cards and it's totally against their rules to make any exceptions. I accepted it and decided I never needed a Citi card. I started this thread about the whole experience: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Citi-Double-Cash-Decline/td-p/4095676  So, I'm over Citi and decided I am moving on and that's it. I came home from work tonight and there was a letter from Citi - it's a Pre-Selected offer for a Citi Diamond Preferred Card!! WTH??? I guess they're trying to throw salt on the wound or something. They took 2 HP from EX and EQ, turned me down, sent me a rejection letter with really bogus reasons, and then I get this the next week. Should I call and ask what's up and why they would even consider sending this (which I have absolutely no interest in - plus it's a Citi bank card). I'm definitely in the mood to go a few rounds with them!!!

Throw it in the shredder ... unless you really want to go through that ordeal again. The mailer department of that card doesn't really check with the credit department, it seems This exactly OP.  Why take it personal?  They send thousands and thousands of these offers all the time.  Even one of my family members gets them despite of having an active DP card! The movie Frozen comes to mind OP.  Let it go, let it go...

  • 2 AMEX, BOA CLI & Discover-It Denials - Recon?

    Hey everyone!
I had been riding a hot streak the past few days getting Cap One Quicksilver and Venture, Chase Freedom & Citi Double Cash. I was brought back to earth with a thud by the AMEX Everyday denial, and taking some advice I found in one of the threads, applied for the Delta card so they'd use the same HP. Also a no-go, but it was because I was already rejected for the first card. Discover also told me take a hike.
Should I recon all in 30 days? I'm thinking my newer balances haven't posted and the HPs showed high util on 2 cards and maybe HPs for the new cards. Worth a shot via backdoor or lick my wounds in the garden for awhile?

You can try to recon within but the denial may hold.  What was the reason given to you for the denials?  That often holds the clue.

  • Citi FICO Equifax Score question

Hi, probably answered before... but couldn't find it. My Citi Prestige card provides me with a FICO score from Equifax. It is 771. What score is that ? Is it a real FICO score ? They don't state the range like 300-850 or so. Who has more information or a link ? Thanks.

Hi Beck.  I believe that most or all Citi cards get it now.  My Citi Double Cash gets the free score.  But since that is a pure Citibank question, you probably should just call them and they'll tell you. Ammer... As far as how to interpret the BankCard Enhanced version of FICO 8, that's an interesting question.  Because that score can in theory get as high as 900, the closer your BCE score is to 851, the higher the probability is that your standard FICO 8 (300-850) will be lower.  (If you have a BankCard Enhanced score of 851 it is 100% certain that your standard FICO 8 is lower.) Since your BCE score is 771 a fair guess is that your standard score is not much higher (though it could be).  If you sign up for the myFICO monitoring package, you'll get almost every score under the sun, including the BCE and standard score using the EQ data.  Even if you don't want to pay for the monitoring service indefinitely, it might be helpful to compare the two scores.  Suppose one is 771 and the other is 768.  You can't conclude with certainty that your standard score will always be 3 points lower than the BCE score, but that would give you some grounds for believing that the two scores are (in your case) pretty comparable.
