Space Limitations?

Is there a certain number of TV show episodes you can have on a computer due to space limitations. What is the average number of episodes you should hold on a Mac OX X (10.4.4)?
I'm just wondering before I go out and buy more episodes, because I heard too many episodes can cause your computer to run slower. I don't want that happening.

To the best of my knowledge, it's solely based on how large a hard drive you have and how much space is available. You don't want to fill a drive up too full - I like to keep at least 5GB of space available (more if you burn DVDs often) at all times.
So just look at the size of an average TV show and you can figure out for yourself how many your system could hold before things become cramped.

  • Mac Mail:  Space limitations for work - Reminders / Notes

    Hey there Mac Folks,
I'm using Mac Mail to access my work mail but we have significant space limitations on us. I've cleaned up a lot of my mailboxes into my work account but I see all of emails from my current mailboxes listed under Reminders ==> Notes.
Are they basically duplicates of the emails in the real mailboxes? If so, is there a way to remove them without removing the emails I have to keep in the "real" mailboxes?
    Thanks much!

Yes I sympathize...I had about 20 to do reminders that vapourized...can't find them by going back in time machine. HELP PLEASE!

  • How can I know when I reached space limitations

Hi, I want to know what happens when an enviorment reachs its space limitation.
I know that space available is 30mb per user and the only way to know how much space you've consumed is by calculations about the number of registers.
But I'd like to know how can I know when I reached that limit and what is the procediment to buy more space (overall how much time it takes).
    Every comment will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

We recently instituted a new CRM On Demand storage policy and we realize it hasn’t been disseminated as broadly as it should be. This new policy is significantly more generous than the former policy at no additional charge. We used to offer 30MB pooled storage for Multi-tenant, 45MB for Single-Tenant Standard Edition, and 60MB for Single-Tenant Enterprise Edition (this space covered standard records and attachments).
Customers often think in terms of records and not MB, especially when they are considering importing x million contacts or other records. An average record uses 2KB. We have made the following changes:
    1)     Multi-tenant. Converted the 30MB to 15,000 records. Added 100MB per user for attachments;
    2)     Single-Tenant Standard edition. Converted the 45MB to 22,500 records. Added 150MB per user for attachments;
    3)     Single-Tenant Enterprise edition. More than doubled the 60MB to 70,000 records. Added 200MB per user for attachments;
In summary the new limits are:
Storage Allotment by CRM OD Offering______     Records per User_____Megabytes for Attachments to Records per User
    Multi-Tenant___________________________15,000 ____________100
    Single-Tenant Standard Edition_____________22,500 ____________150
    Single-Tenant Enterprise Edition____________70,000 ____________200
    A couple of additional notes:
    •     When counting records we are only counting primary data records. Meta-data and configuration records don’t count against the limit.
    •     Usage is pooled as before (i.e. a customer receives the amount of storage per subscriber as listed above multiplied by number of subscribers).

  • I've followed all the recommended steps for disk space limitations and still cannot download emails. Recommendations please.

I'm running the latest OS on my iMac, and I do not use anti-virus software. I have deleted all but a few emails from my Trash and compacted all folders. The Alert message, "There is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try deleting old mail, emptying the Trash folder, and compacting your mail folders, and then try again." continues to appear.

the issue can be caused by a lack of physical disk space, a lack of quota in the disk (user account full), file locking and contention (such a an anti virus or backup program trying to access the same space at the same time. Time machine features in some peoples problems) or as the message suggest large Thunderbird files. As you have looked at the Thunderbird issues, perhaps it is time to look t the broader picture.

  • Slice space limits? "BAD PBR SIG"

    Hi there,
Is there a slice space limit I should know about? I'm installing Solaris 8 on a Compaq proliant DL380, and I'm stumping them with my problem: I can install and boot Solaris with 3 18-GB drives in a RAID 5 array. But if I use 4 18-GB drives, although I can create my slices the way I want (one big fdisk partition, and a very customized slice layout with one big slice for data), solaris won't boot after the install. All I see is an error message in the lower-left corner of the screen, highlighted in red: "BAD PBR SIG". Help much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Neil

    Hi Neil,
your query is a bug. Bug Report for BugID 4304977
    workaround for this query:
limit the size of non-Solaris partitions, or move beyond
the Solaris boot partition and Solaris partition.
    Thanks.

  • Computer space limited....can this cause it to crash?

It would appear that I may not have enough disc space for the newer Adobe Photo program and conerned it might crash!
    Can this be corrected?

    Hi BABryant,
If you do not have enough space for the new program, it might result on slower functioning of the program and the computer as well.
I will not be surprised if the program crashes too. Please free up some space on the hard disk removing unused / unnecessary softwares.

  • Text caption character/space limitation

This is probably so obvious that I'm missing it (trying too hard!). I have a TEB that is assigned a variable to return a user's input from the TEB (upon submit) to the next slide, inside a Text Caption box. The variable from the TEB is simply, v_scen1_cp; the capture box is assigned $$v_scen1_cp$$. Everything is good, right? Here's the probem: if a user puts more than 12 characters in the TEB, the Text Caption box on the following slide will not capture all the characters - it drops the characters if more than 12. I would like to be able to assign up to 20 characters to the Text Caption box. Any suggestions?

If you go to the "Format" section of the text box properties and insert your variable by using the "x" icon then right below where you select the variable name there is a field called "Maximum length". The default is 15 chars so you can change it to 50 or 100 if you like and then it will all be displayed in your text caption.

  • Available Space Limitation with HD Upgrade?

Hi All - I know this has been discussed at length here, but I am finding conflicting information. I have a MDD Dual G4 1Ghz machine. The spec sheet says the hard drives are Ultra ATA/100. I'd like to install a 300Mb drive. Will I be able to see/use all 300Mb?? Thanks!
    G4 MDD   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I did a real typo there, "4-bit support"???
Means to say "48-bit" but I get ahead of my typing too often.
I just put WD RE 320GB in and really is a huge improvement over the T7K250 160GB I was using. It is the first ATA drive that I have really found acceptable performance-wise.

  • "C" drive space limitation

How can an alternate path be indicated in iTunes to store my music other than the "C" drive? (Alternative storage either internal or external). Do not want to keep manually transfering the music files.

To move just the content and not the library files, see:
iTunes: Moving Your iTunes Music Folder
IMPORTANT: do not delete the iTunes folder or the preference files it contains from your boot hard drive; delete ONLY the tracks themselves (i.e. the contents of the old iTunes Music folder).
You can also just drag the entire iTunes folder (the entire folder, not just the iTunes Music folder) to your desired location. Then hold down the Shift key while launching iTunes. You'll be given a dialog box where you can select the iTunes library you want to use. Navigate to and select the iTunes folder in it's new location. Note that this procedure assumes that all of your tracks are contained in the iTunes Music folder. If they're scattered around your volumes, moving them becomes much more complex. And don't launch iTunes with the external drive not mounted or iTunes will default back to the internal drive. If it does, though, just mount the external drive and launch iTunes with the Shift key again.
In either case, don't delete the tracks from the old location until you've confirmed that they're working correctly from the external drive.

  • Per user space limitation

    Hello!
Is it possible to allocate certain size of the my documents repository per user?
Does this function in the roadmap?

    Hi,
Quota for a user = Size of My Documents + Size of share there he is the owner.
Quota for a user can be configured from Admin UI. Go to User tab, search for user and assign quota there.
This feature is only present for cloud edition till SP3. Which new release SP4, this should come to KM (on premise) also.
Is this what you looking for ?

  • VHD Size is Maximum Size Allowed Without Using All Space in OS

Hello - I have a Hyper-V VM whose maximum size allowed is 700GB. Currently, the VHD file size is 700GB yet the OS is only using ~400GB (300GB free). Shouldn't the VHD size be about 400GB instead of 700? Every other VM I have checked matches the size being
    used in the OS.
As I was typing this I think I answered my own question. This VM has a fixed size and all of the other VMs we have are dynamic. I assume this is why? It is a SQL server so I guess it is fixed for better performance. I didn't set this up
Can I safely shrink the VHD down a little bit? When trying to get replicas of this VM, it keeps crashing the VM due to space limitations. It is on its own Cluster Disk but it only has a few GB free which is why I believe it is failing. How much free
disk space is needed where the VHD is located in order for replication to work?
This is our SQL server so I am a little cautious in what we do with it.
    Thanks for your help,
    Mike

    Hi Mike ,
Based on my knowledge for vhd , when you delete a file then this file was not deleted on disk  thoroughly , just give it a deleted tag (the "old space" was not recycled until there is no new space for writing).
I think you can not make it smaller via shrinking .
Maybe you can try to compress the vhd file ( "edit disk..."  ), before you doing this please backup your VM first .
BTW , it is recommended to use fixed disk for SQL server .
    Best Regards

  • Mailbox and Library Size Limits and Reporting

I have seen quite a few postings on size limits.
I have a system that has two Post Offices - one for mail and one for doc mgt. Users log into the e-mail PO and get redirected to the doc mgt PO when they need to access files in the libraries ( there are 6 libraries)
I would like to find a utility other than GW Check - maybe a nice Windows GUI app that lists the amount of space each user is using in each PO (or total) that would include all e-mails, sent and received (with attachments) and documents in the libraries.
I would also like to apply space limits to each user. "Client Options" sets it globally, but for each DOM or PO separately, and of course, you can be more granular on a per user basis. Setting the limit on a per user basis is daunting since it has to be done one at a time!
Is there a utility that not only reports consumed space, but also allows you to set the limits?
BTW, why are the disk space limits under the "Send" section of Client Options. Seems like it would be more of an "Environment" option.
Using GW 7.02HP on NW 6.5.6

I'm not sure of any utilities that do a "report and set" of the limits. The GWCheck Log File Parser that Dave Parkes wrote (Caledonia Network Consulting) works well for seeing how much space a user has in use. That said, you CANNOT set limits on users in the DMS - just isn't possible. It's a different system, and does not allow for size limits of documents, etc.
As for why size limits is located under "sent" I guess it's because it really affects the sending of mail the most. I.e., when a user reaches the size limit, incoming mail is not bounced. The size limit only prevents users from sending new mail until additional space is cleaned up.

  • Space needed for Photoshop Elements 9

Hi.  I am an amateur photo taker but want to step it up a bit and am considering getting Elements 9. I recently purchased a small NETbook to use just for photos- to alter them and post them online and then I will be saving them on an external hard drive or CD due to space limitations.  The computer only came with 2gb of space. I am afraid that if i purchase elements, it might not load.  My external hard drive has quite a bit of space available so I was thinking I could run the installation through that for the spaces needed.  I was curious if anyone knew if it would falter during the install.  I just tried to download the trail on my work computer which has 3.13gb of space free and that said not enough space.  so now I am worried.

You may also experience display problems e.g. not seeing all of the program real estate.
A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE9 requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.
