Got that replaced 4 days past - was only on bluetooth speaker in car for that time and same problem again. Got another new replacement this afternoon and 1st incoming call guess what????? bloody internal speaker stopped working on this one also!!!! and both the folks at Nokia and a customer compain that I sound like I'm underwater when using the speakerphone!!!
What the hell is going on here folks?????

Sounds like the detector in the headphone jack is stuck. Use a cottonswab with a bit of alcohol to clean it out and see if it works.

I'm not sure about a restocking fee, but heard of people returning items for a new or differant one. they said they held your original payment as a credir toward your new order.. I'd just call them and ask.  good luck.

  • New Lumia 900 Main Camera is inverted

The main (rear facing) camera on my new Nokia Lumia 900 is inverted top to bottom in portrait and left to right in landscape.  I cannot find any settings to correct this on the phone.    Is this a manufacturing defect that needs the phone to be swapped out under warranty or is there a setting that I am missing to invert the camera.
The front facing camera is working normally.

    Hi DocsBoy,
Thank you for your first post and welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your camera. Firstly have you tried resetting your device? You can do this by going into Settings > About> Reset your phone and see if this resolves the camera issue. Also try resetting the camera. If you go into Settings > scroll across to applications > and then scroll down to Pictures+Camera and then reset camera. If the problem persists I would then either recommend calling your network provider or you local Nokia care line. You can find details of your care line below:

  • Lumia 900 Phone version 7.5 OS version 7.10

    Hello everyone!
Currently I am having a problem with my phone or with zune that is not allowing me to update to WP 7.8. When I plug the phone into my computer and click update in zune it scans the phone and says its up to date and that the OS version is 7.10(8779). When I go into my phone settings and then the about option it says that the software is Windows Phone 7.5 and then lists the same OS version as the zune. Neither the phone update option or the zune one gives me the ability to update to 7.8. Is there something that I am doing wrong or is there a problem with my phone?

    Hi Pilpod,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
The WP7.8 update has already been rolled out. However, if your phone is locked with a certain network provider, it's best to ask them if the WP7.8 update will be available for your device. Update and apps availability depends on the approval of operators for locked devices.
Hope to hear updates from you soon.

  • New ipod not doing what the old one did

I just received my new 6 Gen nano replacement in the recall. I think it's great of Apple to give me a brand-new ipod in exchange for an old one, but.....something isn't right. The first problem I found was that the new nano doesn't store tracks within playlists in the same order as in iTunes. I tried 'Copy to play order' both on the iTunes smart playlist and on the playlist after uploading it to nano, but the nano lists things bunched together in groups, with newer files first - no good for listening to eg radio dramas with multiple episodes that need to be listened to in order. Then I tried making a new smart playlist with the contents of the original smart playlist, but that copies onto nano in reverse order. So I tried reversing the order of the new playlist, but the order in nano doesn't change, which is weird.
All I want is a playlist that lets me listen to stuff in the order I want to listen to it in, without having to stop what I'm doing at the end of each track to manually select the next one. Is that not possible with the 6 Gen nano? And if not Why On Earth Not? I would have thought it was a pretty basic function.
Another problem is that play count seems to have disappeared. I set up my smart playlist to include only files with a play count of 0, so that when I connect the nano, things I have already listened to are updated and automatically removed from the playlist. Yet all the stuff I listened to yesterday is still marked as not having been played.
I would have assumed that a newer model would be easier/more convenient to use than an older one, but this is definitely several steps backward - or is there something wrong with my new nano?

OK, after lots of messing around I finally got a playlist to play in the right order.
First, automatic sync doesn't work, it has to be manual which is a bind.
The smart playlist I want to listen to has tracks selected by genre, plus 0 plays, arranged in order manually. No matter what I do, I can't get this playlist to behave as I want.
I created another smart playlist selected by 'playlist is the other playlist'. I select 'copy to play order' on this playlist, manually upload it to the nano and select 'copy to play order' on it in nano too. The playlist has an exclamation mark next to it indicating that it is not linked to an existing playlist. Ignore.
Sync the nano, and the playlist is in the correct order.
Play count still seems to be a bit iffy, though. Stuff I know I've listened to stil shows up with 0 plays.
Please Apple, make the software for the 6 Gen as user-friendly as it was for the 1st-gen. With that everything was automatic.

  • I'm new to Java. Whats the easiest program to make games?

I'm a moderately experience flash actionscript 3 developer, so i know how to program.
I just want to know a developers kit that is good for making simple 2d games. Are there kits, that help you with the graphics stuff, like flash does? Because i suppose in Java you have to load all the sprites etc mannually?
So i'm looking for an easy developer's kit for Java games.

    omniscient wrote:
game maker is very limited. I want to use the java language.Okay but why do you want to use java? What do you think it offers you over something like GameMaker (especially if you're relying on prebuilt libraries)? If we know your actual goals (what kind of game do you want to make? How do you plan to get started? How much programming do you already know?), we can better help you.
I'll check the tutorial.Always a good start. If you're unfamiliar with java in general, I wouldn't touch anything GUI-related until you master the [basic tutorials|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/index.html] first.
But I don't understand why you're so negative. What's wrong with wanting to use a kit thats easy- to use, and has all the basic stuff ready for you?I didn't mean to come off as negative. The problem with using a "kit" is that it gets in the way of actually learning how to program. I'd recommend getting a really basic game going on your own (think pong), and then worry about adding on to it using third party libraries. Learning how to do the basics (which really aren't that hard to start) will give you a better idea of what you need: physics engine? More accurate collision detection? Special effects? Smoother animation? Artificial intelligence? The list is endless, and I doubt you'll find all of it in one prebuilt kit. What fun would that be anyway!
Ofcourse i know i dont ahve to draw pixel per pixel, i was exaggerating.Ok phew, you had me worried for a second.
All this being said, I love seeing what other people come up with. Keep us posted on your progress, and feel free to ask questions as you go along.

  • My Lumia 900 won't turn on

I have a Nokia Lumia 900 phone. The phone won't turn on anymore. It was working fine until yesterday. When I press the power button, the phone vibrates and the three bottom buttons light, but the screen does not turn on, it just stays black.
I have the phone plugged in, but that doesn't make a difference.
I also tried the hard and soft reset processes, but no difference. The phone won't turn on.
Also, I've tried different cables to charge the phone
What could be the problem? Is there a solution?
Is it the battery? Can the battery be replaced?
Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated.

    Hi, jerryt.
Yes, the Nokia Software Recovery Tool is not compatible with the Lumia 900. Let's try further isolating this. To verify, the phone does not charge even when what's in use is the charger that came with it, correct? Have you tried charging it via PC?
By the way, before this issue occured, can you still remember the battery status of your phone? This is because if the battery is completely empty, you need to charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using phone's wall charger. In case you try this with computer USB, those typically supply less current and charging time is much longer.
The Lumia 900 has an integrated battery, so only the technicians can remove it. Any response from you is appreciated.

  • Brand new lumia 920, failed to use in 3 day??

This is what happened to me:-->
I bought my phone at 4 March 2013
On 5 March 2013, i charge my phone and it suddenly shut down it self and unable to switch it on.
Same day i bring it to Nokia Care at the place i purchase, the person who incharge told me that might be the WP OS problem. then after he/she help me to switch on back my phone without confirmed what's the actual problem.
he/she told me in case happen again, hole the volume down button+power button+plug USB to the PC. then the phone will like refresh its system.
On 7 March 2013, the phone happened again bout the shut down problem. then i just follow what i learn from the nokia care centre to solve it.
On 9 march 2013, the FACEBOOK and CAMERA apps was Unable to open. just like u click it, it PoP out again to the main screen. even i restart phone, Factory reset, still remain the same problem.
On 10march 2013 i bring to Nokia Care again, and them just received my phone and send to repair.
on 17 march 2013, my Lumia is finally done by repair. and i go collect it. same day at night, Sim card was keep on Disconnect, No line at all, suddenly unable to detect at all.
18 march 2013 i went to Nokia Care again, then they said" Oh Okay, we have to send in repair" again?
19 march 2013, Nokia Care called me and told me It's Done. and i go collect it again. And i mention about can i add some money or what something else to exchange a brand new lumia 920? What the person who incharge my case respond was, "let us send to repair for 1 last time first ok? let see what happen"
20 march 2013 i realise there is no FLASH on my camera, not function at all. even i install apps"flashLight" to test same no function.
21 march 2013 i bring to Nokia Care again. and they said " send in repair " again??
Until now, no respond. Under this situation, Is that nokia should Exchange a brand new phone for me? I paid money just for testing ur Lumia 920? Not even mention exchange a new lumia 920 for me? repair repair and repair..  Is this what i deserve to get?

I have faced the same case. After 2 days i bought the Nokia Lumia 920, the phone suddenly shut down itself and unable to switch it on.
Next day i bring it to Nokia Store, the person who incharge help me switch on back my phone without confirmed what's the actual problem. The person asks me to go to Care Centre and i did not go because i think it is recover.
However, after 2 days, same case happen and i found this comment. Im wondering do I need to send my phone to Care Centre to repair as there are many problems occur after sending to repair. May I know what is the main reason cause the problem? (Make me disappointed on Nokia phone)

  • Lumia 900 specs?

For the 22 years I've owned a cell phone I've NEVER owned a non-Nokia phone and I don't really want to look else where for my next phone, but I want/need some of the conveinences/features contained in my current Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone.
I have been waiting for the Lumia 900 to be released since it was announced and just yesterday I read the specs for it.  However, I still have some questions about the 900:
What Bluetooth profiles does it ship with?
Will it sync with Zune via Bluetooth?
Does the Zune software, or some other software, allow SMS messaging through the phone from a PC?
Is the Zune software as comprehensive, or more so, as the Nokia Suite software I use with my Symbian based 5800?
The specs indicate the phone has two microphones ... why?
The specs list the model number of the battery.  And, that the phone has unibody construction.  Is the battery user replaceable?
Will the 900 be upgradable to Windows Phone 8, when its released, or will the 900 be stuck/orphaned with 7.5?
There was no mention of TV out connectivity.  Was that an omission fromt the specs ... or, does it really not have it?
    Thanks,
    Rick

    luxsphinx thanks for your reply.
I also am in the US and I travel a lot and the TV out feature is great in that I can connect my Nokia 5800 to my PC via USB, see the phone, and it's memory card, as additional hard disks (which is not available on the Lumia 900), copy a couple of movies to the MicroSD card (which is definitely not available on the Lumia 900), get to the hotel at my destination, plug in the TV out cable which was supplied with the phone and watch a movie of my choice on the big screen in 16:9 Hi-Res.
As for the ability to send SMS while connected to the PC ... I get/send a lot of text messages and if I'm at my desk PC, or on the road on my laptop, I just plug the phone into the computer, open Nokia Suite software, sync the messages and any new messages that come are displayed in a popup window in the lower right hand corner of the screen.  I can click on the popup window, the message opens up and I can read and reply on the full sized screen and via the full sized keyboard, click send and I'm back to work again without having to touch the phone ... or, it's tiny keyboard.  Since all SMS messages are received and sent via the phone (albeit through a USB cable, or via Bluetooth).  (Bluetooth data transfer is also not available on the Lumia 900).  When I unplug and leave my desk, all the message history goes with me, unlike when through an IM client (which, while also convenient when at the desk, leaves the message history at the desk as I think a PC client would use a phone number that is different than the number of the cell phone).
Additionally, the Nokia Suite software allows viewing, editing and synchronizing contacts DIRECTLY with Outlook (no cloud involved), viewing and synchronizing pictures, backing up the phone's settings and software, browsing the app store, updating firmware and apps, playing/purchasing music, and downloading and updating maps.  The Nokia Suite software allows for some real conveniences.  The "new" system for the Lumia 900 has NO WAY to back up the phone's settings at all ... that I've been able to determine anyway.  Files get backed up to "the cloud" eating up the data plan, or maybe through a data cable to Zune.  I don't know yet about firmware updates or map updates via a data cable, or if they have to eat up the data plan also.  Since I don't have a Windows Phone yet, I can't see what Zune is capable of.
As far as I can find out the Zune software allows an interface for manipulating and synchronizing media (music, video and pictures) and that's about all.  There doesn't appear to be a way to copy anything to the Lumia 900's memory directly through a computer's file management program. (Windows Explorer), and that's ridiculous!
I know I'm just used to my 3 year old Nokia 5800, but the lack of features in the Lumia 900, that I've grown accustomed to in my 5800, are NUMEROUS!  I'm having a difficult time seeing this as "progress".
I know what you're saying regarding the battery issue.  My 5800 has a replaceable battery. And, on occasion I have to insert my "standby" battery to keep going for the rest of the day till I can get to a charger.  I'm now faced with looking at charging EVERY chance I get ... and/or buying one of the external battery packs as a backup power supply till I can get to a charger.  That is "if" I get a Lumia 900.  This just really sucks that I feel like I'm having to "settle" for so much less than what Nokia has made me accustomed to, in order to have their "new - top of the line - flagship?" cell phone!!!
I think you're mistaken about AT&T's "inability" to issue updates.  AT&T is the world's largest communications company.  They are definitely "able" to issue an update.  What it really comes down to is ... they are unwilling, for whatever reason, to issue updates in a timely manner, if at all!  There was a rumor/discussion about Nokia forcing the service providers to issue "at least every other" firmware update produced by the manufacturer.  But, it now sounds like AT&T has won out and they don't "have to" issue any updates, if they don't want to.  I can't imagine that could be good for Nokia, as improvements ... and stability fixes ... are now up to AT&T.  So, the end user experience will suffer and Nokia's brand will be tarnished, when in fact, the fault lies with the service provider AT&T.  **bleep**!
ANY new top of the line Nokia, or any other manufacturer's, "smartphone" should be able to transfer files/data/tether via Bluetooth.  I'm neither a software, nor a hardware, engineer ... but, how difficult can it be to add a Bluetooth profile ... or two?
A top of the line Nokia "smartphone" should be able to connect to a PC with Nokia Suite (via both Bluetooth and data cable) for synchronization, image and SMS backup, data transfer AND for SMS messaging via the PC's full size keyboard.  In these respects I was hoping the Lumia 900 would be at least as advanced as my 3 year old Nokia 5800, but it's NOT!  Also, a camera that is at least as good as the iPhone camera should be a given.  From some images I've seen posted in other forums, I'm not so sure that the Lumia 900's camera is as good ... in lower lux environs.  It seems to do a good job when there's a lot of light around though.
The Lumia 900 certainly is nice to look at, and it feels nice to hold, ... but, it is lacking some very BASIC features, at least to me.
I also think there should be some definitive information issued by either Microsoft, and/or Nokia, regarding the availability of an upgrade path to the new Windows Phone 8 OS that is due out in just a few months.  Should we really be expected to buy a phone that will have an orphaned OS in a matter of months?
Since my first cell phone, 20 years ago!, I've NEVER owned a non-Nokia phone.  I don't want an iPhone.  I don't want an Android phone.  I want another Nokia phone!  I've been waiting for the Lumia 900 for months.  But, I'm sorely disappointed that the Lumia 900 has been short changed in its feature set.
I don't know whether the fault lies with the Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.5 OS, or with Nokia's hardware, or both.  But, these issues MUST be fixed, or Microsoft AND Nokia will lose/not gain the market share they both are vying for.
In the current cell phone market, it would seem to me, that for OS and hardware makers, it's all about differentiating yourself from your competitors.  Microsoft's Windows Phone OS is competing with both Apple's iOS and Google's Android, neither of which are light-weights. Nokia is competing with a plethora of fine hardware manufacturers.  Even though Nokia is the largest cell phone manufacturer in the world, they only have a fraction of the smartphone market.  Unfortunately, I don't currently see the crippled Microsoft WP/Lumia lineup changing that.  Maybe Microsoft and Nokia are OK with that ... after all, iOS is laden with limitations for it's users, and purchasers flock to it because of the fine hardware, almost bullet proof iOS ... and all the apps.  Android, while offering more flexibility than iOS and WP offer, is making a move toward less flexibility (like the others have already done) to reduce/eliminate fragmentation of the OS.  Perhaps that is the end goal for MS and Nokia ... cripple the OS, limit the user and limit the hardware's functionality, but ... make it beautiful, and hope that we will flock to it.
Sorry, I know this a probably a lot more than you ever wanted to know, but I suppose I just had to vent all the frustrations that have been building up since I've been looking into the specs for the my much anticipated Lumia 900.
All I know is ... I'm sorely disappointed ... and, for the first time ever, ... I'm re-evaluating whether, or not, to buy another Nokia phone.  How sad!

  • Nokia Lumia 900 Front camera issues

    Hi Moderator,
I bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 few days back and today for the first time when I tried using the front camera on one of my video calls it just froze. Thinking that it is software(skype, tango) problem I tried to open regular camera but the front camera wouldnt come up. I called At&t technical support he advised me to switch off the phone, remove sim, re-insert the sim and turn it on. It worked(thought I still dont understand the realtion between sim and camera). But after some time the camera again hung up on me. This time I switched my phone off for 5 minutes and then turned it on it worked. And I cannot do the whole process again and again all day. Is that a known issue or defect in my phone.

I also have a new Lumia 900 with skype installed.     I am finding that the experience on wifi is still not as smooth as  Facetime on an iPhone.   I am also finding that after I use it a second time (my call hung up in the middle), suddenly my front camera will not work correctly anymore.  It is showing the image as though it has some kind of a filter applied and there does not appear to be a way to turn or reset this filter.  Switching to the front view worked fine.  Audio continued to work fine and my phone did not lock up, other then possibly internet delays.  I got the front camera to work again by powering down.   I think there might still be software issues.

  • Lumia 900 / 800 identifying a incoming call contac...

    Hi All
I have a problem with my new Lumia 900, basically my parents have a very similar number (0428****** & 0429******) with the * being the identical numbers. When a call comes in from 0429 it identifies it as the other contact (my dad in this case, I think this may be because his number is first in my contacts as Mum is further down the list alphabetically, havnt tested this yet). This is obviously very very annoying! Incoming text messages are identified correctly it is just the incoming call, now my brother has a Lumia 800 and his does exactly the same thing!
I have come from a HTC Titan and it did NOT have this problem so I know it is not a Windows Phone problem, doing a bit of digging in Nokia forums however it appears this problem has been seen before with Nokia Symbian devices (http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Similar-Numbers-from-Deferent-Operators-Ha....
Nokia please please fix this in your Lumia range

    Hi All
I got the notification about an update a couple of days ago and have just updated to 12301 and this problem is still present. No Nokia activity in this thread for a while now...
I'm looking forward to the Lumia 920 but if it has this problem just like my 900 does then I'm afraid to say I will be switching away from a Nokia once again. I came back to Nokia after having had many HTC WM and then HTC WP7 phones, all of which had been great devices. I was very pleased to see Nokia supporting the Windows Phone ecosystem and jumped on the 900 as soon as it came out.
After having had my Lumia 900 for a while now, I've got to say I have been fairly dissappointed in its battery life & this rather annoying bug that I see daily.
Hope a Nokia rep can chase this up, thanks

I have a new Lumia 900.  If I don;t use it for an hour or so it turns off.  The ophone has enough battery but requires me to hold the power button for about 6 seconds for it t turn on again...really annoying.  Any ideas how I can turn this feature off ?

This is not a feature. Sxounds like there is a problem with your phone. Backup your data and try a reset. If that diesnt work you might need to send it to a nokia care point.
You can find your local care point using the link below.
