Spool to file doubles records

Hi,
I am using 8i version and SQL*Plus 8.1.
When spooling a SQL statement to a file the number of records in
the file is doubled (the statement returns 27800, for example,
while the file contains 55600).
Why? How can I prevent it?
By the way, I am very new to oracle, so please be gentle...
Thanks.

Are you using both a semi-colon ';' and a slash '/' to terminate
your SQL statement?
In SQL*Plus a SELECT statement can be terminated with either one.
If you subsequently use a '/', then the statement will be run a
second time.
E.g. do:
select * from dept;
and don't do:
select * from dept;
If this is not your problem, can you confirm that the records are
repeated? Or is each record wrapped over two lines?

  • How to delete the double records connected to one or more than one tables in SQL 2008?

    Hi
Can anyone please help me with the SQL query. I Im having a table called People with columns names: personno., lastname, firstname and so on. The personno. is having duplicate records,so all the duplicate records i have written with "double" in
the beginning of the numbers. I tried deleting these double records but they are linked to one or more than one tables. I have to find out, all the tables blocking the deleting of double person. And then create select statements which creates update statements
in order to replace the current id of double person with substitute id. (The personno. is in the form of id's in the database)
    Thanks

You should not append "double" in the personno. When we append it will not be able to join or relate to other table. Keep the id as it is and use another field(STATUS) to mark as duplicate. Also we will require another field(PRIMARYID) against
those duplicate rows i.e the main or the primary personno.
SELECT * FROM OtherTable a INNER JOIN
(SELECT personno, status, primaryid FROM PEOPLE WHERE status = 'Duplicate') b
    ON a.personno = b.personno
UPDATE OtherTable SET personno = b.primaryid
    FROM OtherTable a INNER JOIN
(SELECT personno, status, primaryid FROM PEOPLE WHERE status = 'Duplicate') b
    ON a.personno = b.personno
NOTE: Please take backup before applying the query. This is not tested.

  • Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?

Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?
I am new to SQL+ and just learned how to spool the file. But file is saved in my local windows enviroment and since it's 2GB in size...I want to spool it directly to another remote unix server.
Pls answer in detail... I have been to most of the thread and didn't see relevant answer to above question.
Am I suppose to develope some script which FTP the spool file directly to the server I want to
    or
    i Have to use UTL_FILE Package ?
    Thanks for reply

You may not be able to...
SQL*Plus can only spool to the local machine. If you have mapped a directory on the Unix server from your Windows machine, you can specify that directory in your SPOOL command.
You could telnet to the Unix server, run SQL*Plus there, and spool the file to a local (Unix) directory.
If the Unix server is also the Oracle database server, you could use the UTL_FILE package rather than using SQL*Plus to spool a file.
If the Unix server is also an FTP server, you could also FTP the file from your local machine to the server.
Of course, I would tend to re-examine a requirement to regularly generate a 2 GB text file. It seems likely that there is a better way...

  • Audition CS5.5 deleting files from "Recorded" subfolder on closure

    Hi
I use Audition CS 5.5 version 4.0 Build 1815 on a 32bit XP Pro box using a 1TB raid 1 array on 2 identical drives.
Yesterday I worked on 2 seperate projects previously created and saved. Using the multitrack editor with 2 tracks of music, and one of multiple instances of live voice recorded whilst I worked, which were saved in the "Recorded" subfolder by the program as (eg) Track 4_003.wav and .pkf files..
After assembling the music and voice tracks with fades etc as normal, and saving regularly whilst working, at the end of the session I checked all the music/speech junctions then saved and exited.
Today I came to continue working on these projects to find that Audition appears to have deleted around half of the files, some 16 pairs of .wav and .pkf files, from the Recorded folder, starting from Track 4_001.  All the deleted files were recorded prior to yesterday.
This has occurred in both projects which are on seperate parts of the raid array.  The session files expect to find them, and cannot, of course.
The files are not in the recycle bin and there was no evidence of them on the raid array when scanned with GetDataBack, even as deleted files. It is as though they never existed.
This is very alarming, not to say extremely inconvenient, as a whole day's work has gone down the drain.  It would appear to be Audition causing the problem as the files were definitely in the recorded subfolders prior to closing the projects, and now they aren't.  I have never known XP, much as I hate the OS, to selectively delete sequential files from a folder.
Is this something that is known about Audition, and if so, is there a solution short of making a seperate backup of everything in another location prior to saving and closing Audition?
I'd appreciate any input on this before I grovel to the voiceover artist.
    Christopher

It is very strange, and as to why they don't appear on a whole disk recovery scan I have no idea.  They were definitely on the raid array at one point, I checked the folder contents outside of AA, and they are still logged as having been created and on the timelines in both the .sesx files.
If AA had overwritten them then the file numbers would have been reused, but both projects have "lost" all the lower numbered files, starting now at 16 & 17 respectively, AA hasn't reused the numbers. The chances of new numbers actually occupying the same disk sectors is very remote.
The only thing I can check is the operation of the "cut" & "delete"  commands in the multitrack editor.  There is the possibility, which I have to check, that, having split a recorded voice take up into seperate clips for use at various point on the timeline , when asked to cut or delete a split clip AA actually deletes the whole clip, not just the split section.
I have set up a test session and will try this out to see if AA automatically renumbers split sections. I will report back later.

  • Captivate 4 Files double in size when upgraded to Captivate 5

I noticed when I looked at converting my Adobe Captivate 4 files to Adobe Captivate 5 that the files doubled in size (one went from 30 MB up to 90 MB).  At http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/10/cptx_file_size.html, Adobe mentions that they know about the issue, and plan to resolve it in a "future" release.  I have already applied the 5.0.1 patch recently released, but still have the same issue.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this, or when a patch might be released that does?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
Patch does not address the size reduction issue. Can you share your 30 MB Cp4 project ?
Please upload the same to acrobat.com and email me the download link. My email id is ashwin at adobe dot com

  • Viewing files wile recording

So.. I did a job that consisted on shooting a series of clips and reproducing them wile the recording process was still going. note that the reproduction of the file happened only after it's recording process was already finished. that means i recorded file 1. finished recording file 1 started recording file 2. while recording file 2 i was watching the file 1 thru network on another computer and so on... i did about 18 clips.
everything went smoothly till the day after. when i tried to open the files again and they won't open. my disk is ok. furthermore. the clips that eventually were not reproduced wile the recording process was going are intact.
i tried opening with all sorts of softwares.. . playes, editors, compositing, you name it
    file extension mov.
    codec dv
    format pal
average clip size 10 min or 2.5 gb
    op sistem leopard
this files kynda worth my head so please, please help me to to keep it on he top of my neck

Your workflow has not been tested and is not recommended because it involves reading from the hard drive while simultaneously writing to it. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that in most cases, when you're working in realtime and dealing with the data rates associated with digital video, the drive may not be able to keep up. The primary risk is that frames will be dropped from the clip that's being recorded. This is precisely why we have not enabled OnLocation to play one clip while recording another.
I'm a bit surprised that the problem you're encountering is with the file that was being copied, not the one that was being recorded. I can't even offer a hypothesis as to how that occurred. Is the problem with the original clip or the copy?
If it's essential that you copy one file while recording the next, I recommend working with two projects on separate hard drives. After recording a clip to Project A on Drive 1, switch to the Project B/Drive 2. Then you can safely copy the clip on Drive 1 to the network. If you later want to review clips from both project at the same time within OnLocation, you can import the clips from one project into the other by dragging and dropping them from Finder to the Shot List.

  • Delete double records by coding in Infoset

    Hello,
I join 7 tables in a infoset and get later in my datasource double records. My question:
Is it possible to delete these double records( I need only 1 record) by coding in the infoset? And if so how I can do this? I´m a ABAP novice.
    Thanks.
    Michael

Thanks, for the fast answers. The example is very good, but I still have two questions to it.
    1. I have also characteristic values, can I use here MIN and MAX?
    2. Only the same records with the same key of "KUNNR" and "BUKRS" should be aggregated, how I can do this? (A small example would be helpful).
    Many Thanks.

  • Anyway to expand spool log file?

    Hi,
I have a massive script, yet the spool log file doesn't show the last 10-15 commands. is there a way for me to resolve that?
    Thanks.

What spool log file? In what product? And what version of that product?
The Oracle database does not have a "spool log file."
Though, on second thought, it occurs to me you may be creating one of your own in which case your operating system and version are important too.
If you type "SPOOL OFF" do those final commands get flushed from the buffer and written to the file? Aha!

Using an HP Photosmart Plus B210a - how do I print  PDF files double-sided.  I can print Word documents etc. this way but do not seem to have the option when opening a PDF file.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
You might experiment with a page or two first.
    1.Choose File > Print.
2.From the Subset pop-up menu in the Print Range area, select Even Pages Only.
    3.Click OK or Print.
4.If the total number of pages is odd, add a blank sheet so the final odd page has a sheet to print on.
5.Put the stack of printed paper back into the supply (source) paper tray so that the unprinted sides print. Point the top of the pages toward the printer. Make sure that the edges of the paper stack are square.
6.Choose File > Print and select Odd Pages Only from the Subset menu.
7.Select the Reverse Pages option. In this scenario, the Reverse pages option ensures that the page sequence is correct.
    8.Click OK or Print.
