Spry date format

Hi I have a similar problem to this unanswered post I found
while googling
for a solution.
Any ideas or help appreciated
Can anyone help me with a date format for spry?
I have a MySQL database with a date record in it, I have run
the xml
recordset
export from the Developer Toolbox and everything works great
except the date
shows up as yyyy-mm-dd "2007-11-12"
I would like to learn how to format it so I can show it as a
short format
"Nov. 12th. 2007" or a long version "November 12, 2007"

David,
Thanks for getting back.
I am struggling a bit here as I do not know where to format
the date.
I would normally do the following:
<?php echo date('l, F d,
Y',strtotime($row_rs_calendar['date'])); ?>
The database only accepts (I think) date in the yyyy/mm/dd
format.
Do I try to format the xml page?
thanks

  • Date Format for Spry data set sort

    Hi
    Just feeling my way through the use of Spry Datasets for the
    first time and have a couple of issues hopefully someone with more
    knowledge of it than me know the answer to.
    I had an issue with my Spry Dataset initially that it would
    not work in ie7 but was OK in FF3.
    After some mucking round I realised the error I was getting -
    albeit obscure in IE was telling me it was a date format issue in
    my data set.
    The db data I am playing with here is fairly simple: I have a
    couple of text fields, an integer field that contains the
    unixtimestamp of the entry (its a simple diary application) and a
    formal date field that holds the same date in mysql's date format.
    When I display the date in the dataset I do so in the format
    "23rd May 2009" (as an example)- I code this using phps date
    function in my xml query.
    I had set this field to date format in the Spry dataset
    conditions but IE seems to barf on this- I can change it to
    textstring but then my sort is done on Alpha/Numeric sort of the
    first character in the date field which is rubbish.
    I only display the date in this format and one of the other
    text fields in my dataset- the unixdate is for programmatic
    purposes not general display so I cannot sort on this field if its
    invisible. How can I acheive a date based sort with this set up- or
    what date formats does Spry code prefer for date sorts? (My client
    wants the date to show as I have explained). Many thanks. I have a
    second query which I will post separately!

    I am sorry, but you aren't following my explanation. English

    You can take a look at this page:
    http://visual.unipv.it/tmt_calendar/admin/reports/events.cfm
    Even if all the dates here are incidentally using the
    yyyy-mm-dd format, the
    dataset display the date from the "start_date_formatted"
    field:
    <td><a href="javascript:"
    onclick="showUpdate('{event_id}')">{start_date_formatted}</a></td>
    But uses another field to sort the table:
    <th scope="col" spry:sort="start_date">Start
    date</th>
    You can have the same date, using two different formats,
    inside two,
    separated dataset fields. One is used for display, the other
    one is used for
    sort.
    You may try to read again my previous explanations, look at
    the code in the
    page above and see if you get the idea.

  • Changing date format  in spry

    var dsJazz2 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("xml/Books_Study.xml",
    'NewDataSet/Table[Book_Related_Text =
    ""]',{sortOnLoad:"Posted_Date",sortOrderOnLoad:"descending"});
    dsJazz2.addObserver(dateFilter);
    function dateFilter(notificationType, notifier, data)
    if (notificationType != "onPostLoad")
    return;
    var rows = notifier.getData(true);
    var numRows = rows.length;
    for (var i = 0; i < numRows; i++)
    rows[ i ][ "Posted_Date" ] = rows[ i ][ "Posted_Date"
    ].replace(/^([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{2})-([0-9]{2}).*/, "$3-$2-$1");
    the above code returns the date from
    2007-12-25T00:00:00+05:30 to 25-12-2007 format
    Now the problem is how can i get the time separately.?
    Need a syntax like below
    rows[ i ][ "Posted_Time" ] = rows[ i ][ "Posted_Date"
    ].replace(/^something.*/, "$1-$2");

    Does all of the time data come in this format
    (2007-12-25T00:00:00+05:30)?
    If so, then you might just want to do a javascript "split()"
    (or similar function) on the delimeters like "T" and the " + "
    sign, then you would have each one broken out into a small array
    that you can format as you see fit. It would probably work out
    better, instead of using the replace method.
    Take a look at the "Javascript Date" object (
    http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_obj_date.asp)
    Hope this helps!

  • A working YUI Calendar With Spry Data

    Hi,
    I've seen a number of posts about linking Spry data with the YUI calendar widget.
    Well I've done that here.  http://www.pwhitehurst.f2s.com/yui%20calendar.html. through a little perserverance and reading the Yahoo calendar API
    The calendar dates are highlighted based on the event dates in the SPRY data.  I haven't added any other functionality yet as  I'm just taking it one step at a time.  But this page should give others the base code for getting started.  The key is to declare a YAHOO namespace so you can reference the calendar in your spry region postload notifications or other spry functions etc.
    Any questions please reply and I'll see if I've worked it out.  I'm away over Easter but intend to add functionaility so that when you click a date on the calendar it filters the spry data via a non destructive filter etc. I also want the calendar to move to the right month as I click events.
    Cheers
    Phil

    Thanks,
    Unfortunatley my page hasn't gone live yet, so I can't show you what I mean, but I think I've found the problem.
    I've managed to config the YUI calendar to accept dates in DD/MM/YYYY format (using some of the localisation features described on the Yahoo developers pages: http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/examples/calendar/germany.html) so now my calendar will accept and properly shade any date passed to it in DD/MM/YYYY format (which is what my spry dataset is in) and it will also return any date selected from the calendar in DD/MM/YYYY format, as it should. So, all good on the calendar front...
    ...but spry is still operating in standard MM/DD/YYYY mode, so if I set my "start_date" and "end_date" columns as type = "date" (which I want to do for sorting purposes) it doesn't recognise any date after the 12th day of the month! (because it still thinks the DD segment is a MM segment and so has a maximum poss value of 12! doh!). So far I've got around this by defining both date columns as "strings", so the combining function you describe above (much appreciated btw :-)) passes the date string to the calendar exactly as entered, and because my calendar is set up to recognise this date string, theres no problem, and i can shade any date in the calendar (including the 13th to the 31st!)
    so the only problem i have now is being able to sort my dates. one solution seems to be to have 2 columns - one with the date in DD/MM/YYYY format which is used for display (as it is now) and another in american MM/DD/YYYY format which is used to sort, but this seems to me a bit of a waste of time, and theres always the possibility that one column will have an error in it, especially since I'm not used to working in the american format.
    sorry, a bit of a ramble there. I suppose my question is this: is there a simple step i'm missing where I can tell spry that my date columns are in a specific format? ie. dd/mm, not mm/dd?
    something like:
    var ds1 = new.Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("myData.html", "table1", {sortOnLoad: "start_date", sortOrderOnLoad: "ascending"});
    ds1.setColumnType("start_date", "date", {format:dd/mm/yyyy});
    if not, there really should be!
    *any admins reading, mental note for the next release please...! :-)*
    I suppose i could give in and convert all my dates to the american system which would solve all the problems, but i never like being bullied by the Yanks!

  • IE doesn't display part of spry data set!?!?

    Hi there,
    I hope somebody can help me out with a problem I got with the spry dataset I use on my website. -> http://media-powerplant.de/media-powerplant-referenzen.html
    The thing is that the IE doesn't display text in the "master" region. There are no problems with the Details region, and pictures are also diplayed in the master, but strangely enough no text! :-(
    When i visit the site with firefox or any other browser the text gets displayed. I have no idea what the problem is, but this is really bothering me.
    I hope that somebody is kind enough to help me out here. Big thanks in advance! :-)
    Here is the HTML-code of the site: (the red highlighted lines are those which doesn't get diplayed)

    Anyhing wrong with that or is the syntax correct so far?
    Then you said that I have to change the columne type..... Right now I have those two columnes ("name" and "kategorie") set to "string" as you can see in the attached screenshot. Is that correct? If it is, the mistake must be something else I'm afraid.
    Again, thanks for your support! :-)
    And by the way, merry Christmas everybody! :-)

  • Spry.Data.XMLDataSet

    Does anyone have resources that will allow
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet to use a variable which has been formatted
    into XML.
    The getSites returns an XML Packet which is generated by
    cfquery.
    <cfset getSites =
    #Application.Component.HomeworkHotline.getSites()#>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var myData = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(#Variables.GetSites#,
    "Sites/Site");
    </script>
    Everyytime I view the page I am getting spry:region or
    spry:detailregion attribute has no data set.
    Suggestions:

    Yes and I have looked at this example to try and duplicate
    it.. At the present time I have the following code:
    <cfset getSites =
    #Application.Component.HomeworkHotline.GetSites()#>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var dsSites = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(null, "Sites/Site");
    var xmlDocument =
    Spry.Utils.stringToXMLDoc("#variables.getSites#");
    dsSites.SetDataFromDoc(xmlDocument);
    </script>
    The getSites produces output like:
    <?xml version="1.0"
    encoding="UTF-8"?><Sites><Site><ID>9570</ID><NAME>Northern
    Indiana Educational Services
    Center</NAME></Site></Sites>
    Now when I view the page I am getting an error message which
    states spry:region or spry:detailregion attribute has no data set.
    and then in my table I am getting {ID}{Name} instead of the value
    from the datasource.

  • Supported date formats for sorting

    Can someone point me to a document describing the supported
    date formats for sorting? I mean, how should I format a date column
    in an XML dataset in order to have this column correctly sorted
    using the Spry framework?
    Thank you and sorry if the question is trivial.

    Thanks, what I have done for the moment as a temporary
    solution is to use the two date formats and have them both inside
    the one cell in the table (the column for the sortable date
    yyyy-mm-dd). In my CSS I have created a style for the first date
    that has it's visibility as hidden. That way it's sorting the Date1
    but only Date2 is being shown to the users as the other cells have
    more than one line of text it doesn't look too off centre.
    <div spry:region="ds2">
    <table width="662">
    <tr>
    <th width="127" class="eventhead"
    spry:sort="Date1">Date</th>
    <th width="151" class="eventhead"
    spry:sort="Type">Type</th>
    <th width="146" class="eventhead"
    spry:sort="Title">Title</th>
    <th width="189" class="eventhead"
    spry:sort="Venue">Venue</th>
    </tr>
    <tr spry:repeat="ds2" spry:setrow="ds2">
    <td height="53" class="event">{Date2}<span
    class="eventhide">{Date1}</span></td>
    <td class="event">{Type}</td>
    <td class="event">{Title}</td>
    <td class="event">{Venue}</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </div>
    </div>
    It seems to be working for the moment...

  • Pre-selecting from Spry Data Select Box

    Hi
    I am new here so sorry if this is in the wrong section/format
    I am using Two Spry XML Datasets to populate 2 dropdown boxes with  vehicle makes and the connected model names (there are other fields but for the sake of clarity I will only show these 2). The XML is dynamically generated by PHP/MySQL and works great for initially creating records. The problem I have is when I want to edit my record and so pre-select the data in the dropdown select box. The first box is easy and works fine but the second box only updates when the first is updated using the 'onchange' and I cannot get it to update on load. I can get it to update 'onclick' or other events but I need it to  update the second box when the page loads. Any ideas? I am sure there is a simple solution staring me in the face, but I just can't see it
    My code is listed below. I have cut out all the unnecessary code to make it more clear (hopefully)
    <script src="../../SpryAssets/xpath.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../SpryAssets/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var dsmakes = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("xmlgenmake.php", "vehicle/makes");
    var dsmodel = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("xmlgenmodel.php?xmlmake={dsmakes::make}", "makes/models/model");
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form action="<?php echo $editFormAction; ?>" method="post" name="form1" id="form1">
    <span spry:region="dsmakes" id="makeSelector">
      <select spry:repeatchildren="dsmakes" id="makeSelect" name="make" onchange="document.forms[0].modelSelect.disabled = true; dsmakes.setCurrentRowNumber(this.selectedIndex);">
        <option spry:if="'{dsmakes::make}' == '<?php echo $row_Recordset1['make']; ?>'" value="{dsmakes::make}" selected="selected">{dsmakes::make}</option>
        <option spry:if="'{dsmakes::make}' != '<?php echo $row_Recordset1['make']; ?>'" value="{dsmakes::make}">{dsmakes::make}</option>
      </select>
    </span><span spry:region="dsmodel" id="modelSelector">
    <select spry:repeatchildren="dsmodel" id="modelSelect" name="model">
      <option spry:if="'{dsmodel::model}' == '<?php echo $row_Recordset1['model']; ?>'" value="{dsmodel::model}" selected="selected">{dsmodel::model}</option>
      <option spry:if="'{dsmodel::model}' != '<?php echo $row_Recordset1['model']; ?>'" value="{dsmodel::model}">{dsmodel::model}</option>
    </select>
    </span>
    </body>
    </html>

    Sorry for not being clear -
    The first Spry Select box populates with the Vehicle Makes and selects the stored make from the DB. The second box is supposed to populate with the corresponding Vehicle Models (corresponding to the Vehicle Make in box one) but it initially only populates with the first makes data (not the selected one) if I add:    onfocus="dsmakes.setCurrentRowNumber(this.selectedIndex);     to the first box it works as it should as soon as it receives focus and the second box updates and selects the correct model.
    I have tried adding
    Spry.Utils.addLoadListener(InitPage);
         function InitPage() {
           dsmakes.setCurrentRowNumber(makeSelect.selectedIndex);
    but I cannot get the second box to update without clicking on the first
    It seems there should be s simple solution to this but I cannot see it.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Cannot get Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet with XML to work

    Please help!
    I've created a page in Dreamweaver CS4 with a spry dataset. This works great. I've downloaded Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet and installed it but I keep getting an error that nested datasets are not supported.
    Thoughts solutions.
    Thanks,
    M

    I have found the reason that I could not make it work, I did not have the correct JavaScript file installed.
    Having made the correction, here is a code that does work but most likely does not have the formatting that you want. I will leave that up to you.

  • Spry data table with photo thumbs, that open larger images and more thumbs when clicked

    Hi,  I'm trying to make a page that has a spry table that has car listings, make model etc... i want that info in the table area, with a thumbnail. when you click on the line in the table for a particular car, i want a window to open with thumbnails and larger pic. I have not been able to find how to get the window to open from the table info...it needs to be easily changeable, for instance as cars are sold, to remove old ones and add new ones with pics...I cant find any tutorials that deal with something like that...if you could point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it

    hi
    well, first, I can only get the text information to show up in the table, the pics do not. no link, no pic nothing, just blank. I did the add spry data, chose my xml file, with schema in the file. chose the stacked container with spotlight, which is for pics according to adobe, loads ok. my xml file is this

  • Number doubles in a spry date and time

    Good Afternoon Friends, okay?
    I have a problem that started appearing out of nowhere, next, I have registered several screens and these screens have the date and time fields
    var datatrans01 = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField (datatrans01 "," date ", (format:" dd / mm / yyyy ", validateOn: [" blur "], useCharacterMasking: true));
    I do not know what happens every time I type a number doubles it, type I type 1 and he puts 11, already happened to you,
    thanks
    Juliaob

    var datatrans01 = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField (datatrans01 "," date ", (format:" dd / mm / yyyy ", validateOn: [" blur "], useCharacterMasking: true));
    Hi,
    There are no quotation marks in front of datatrans and the normal brackets (coloured red) should be curly brackets.
    If you use the following constructor you should be fine assuming that the rest of your markup is OK
    var datatrans01 = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("datatrans01", "date", {format:"dd/mm/yyyy", validateOn:["blur"], useCharacterMasking:true});
    I hope this helps.

  • Problem with Date formatting

    Hi Tim,
    I am facing some issues with formatting the date using XMLP. The following is the sample XML data file i am using:
    <LIST_G_HEADER>
    <G_HEADER>
    <QUOTE_HEADER_ID>1455</QUOTE_HEADER_ID>
    <QUOTE_NUMBER>2027</QUOTE_NUMBER>
    <QUOTE_VERSION>1</QUOTE_VERSION>
    <QUOTE_NAME>Test GM Report - Rabindra</QUOTE_NAME>
    <SOURCE_NAME>Fletcher, MR. Paul</SOURCE_NAME>
    <QUOTE_DATE>27-OCT-2005</QUOTE_DATE>
    <CURRENCY_CODE>GBP</CURRENCY_CODE>
    </G_HEADER>
    </LIST_G_HEADER>
    The formatting i use for my date field i.e <QUOTE_DATE>, ends up either with NO formatting or giving me an error "[010906_114656657][][ERROR] Invalid XSD string: 27-OCT-2005 (XMLP Template Viewer)". The default formatting available with the form field dialog box (MS-Word) feature also doesn't work.
    I have the following formatting for this field in the form field:
    <?format-date:QUOTE_DATE; 'MEDIUM' ?>
    When i read the user guide, it reads that the date should be in the canonical format i.e: YYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
    However i am not getting the date from the base table's in this format. Is the error happening due to incorrect format or is there some other reason behind this? Please let me know, how can i overcome this issue.
    Thx,
    Nitin

    As i mentioned in another thread
    substring function and date format
    Please use this standards
    <?xdofx:expression?>
    for extended SQL functions or
    <?xdoxslt:expression?>
    for extended XSL functions.
    Use like
    <?xdofx:rpad(LAST_NAME),30, ’x’)?>
    <?xdofx:Instr(’abcabcabc’,’a’,2))?>
    <?xdofx:upper(char)?>
    <?xdofx:lower (char)?>
    <?xdofx:greatest ( expr [, expr]... )?>
    ETC.....

  • Need to convert into date format

    Hi all,
    I need to convert '2008-11-26T11:07:38-06:00' [YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]T[HH]:[MM]:[SS][TIMEZONE]
    in format 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS'.
    Thanks in advance.

    >
    Thank you for your reply
    But it is giving me output as '26-NOV-08'
    And I want in format '2008-11-26 07:38' i.e 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM'.
    >
    Then you are not looking for a date, You are looking for a string.
    The date format that gets displayed is dependent on nls_date_format parameter.
    If you want a string in the format you asked, then,
    SELECT TO_CHAR ( TO_DATE ( '2008-11-26T11:07:38-06:00', 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS"-06:00"'), 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MM:SS')
      FROM DUAL;Or if you just want the date to be displayed like that then
    Do,
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_Format="YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS";
    Session altered.
    SQL> SELECT TO_DATE ( '2008-11-26T11:07:38-06:00', 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS"-06:00"') dt
      2    FROM DUAL;
    DT
    2008-11-26 11:07:38

  • Changing date format at reporting level

    Hello,
    Will u plz tell me how can i change the date format at reporting level?
    I want to display date in dd/mm/yyyy, but by default its showing mm/dd/yyyy.
    Delta is already loaded in the system, so i don't want to disturb regular data loading.
    Is there any way so that i can change the format of date.
