Spry regions not being viewed
Hi there.
Me and an associate of mine have been doing a small website
development project that uses spry regions on one of their pages
(LINK:
http://www.whytype.com/dev/solutions.html
). The XML it references is "products.xml"
The page itself functions fine locally (displays all aspects
in firefox) but when uploaded via ftp (including dependent files),
they don't show up.
We have all the extensions loaded properly and referenced
correctly in the page, but regardless it won't display. Could the
flash banner interfere with it? Is it a code problem or a back-end
server issue (FYI, server is an Apache 1.3). Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Try loading your XML data file directly:
http://www.whytype.com/dev/products.xml
I get a parser error because nothing is returned.

Final Cut Clips not being viewed correctly?
For some reasons, my clips in final cut following a transition will not show up and instead just are viewed as black.
What's the first clip? A graphic? What transition has this problem, or all of them?

When I am viewing a website in firefox mobile, if I open a link in a new tab, switch to this link, and stay on that tab for more than a minute, the first tab has to be reloaded when I switch back to it. Is there any way to increase the amount of time before a tab would need to be reloaded?
Click twice to get the blinking cursor.

Materialized view not being used in the report
I have had a materialized view (MV) for a particular report. Recently, the report definition has changed little bit, so the existing MV is not being used by the report anymore. I copied the code Discoverer's SQL Inspection and recreated the materialized view. But still it is not working. Obviously, I am missing something at the database level. Does anyone have any idea? The database is 9i and Discoverer is 9.0.2. Thank you!
The SQL that you see from the Inspect SQL option will provide you with the SQL that Discoverer sends to the database. The database then may do a query rewrite to point to an available materialized view if available. This rewrite won't be seen from the inspect sql option. You need to check at the database level to verify if a query rewrite did in fact take place.
You may want to check the section titled "Query Rewrite with Materialized Views" from Ch1 - "Introduction to the Optimizer" in the Oracle9i Database Performance Tuning Guide and Reference, Release 2 (9.2), Part Number A96533-02, available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96533/optimops.htm#37287

Animated gif does not work in spry region
Trying to display an animated gif while xml file is loading.
The gif displays while loading but does not animate in the spry region.
<div spry:region="dslistings">
<div id="loadXML" spry:state= "loading"><img src="loadinganimated.gif"/></div>
<div spry:state="ready" </div>
Thank you in advance for any help.
JeffI believe you are correct, I tried to place the same animated gif outside of the spry region
and it also did not animate until the xml (approximately 500 records) loaded and completed displaying.
Once the xml loaded, the gif outside of the spry region started to animate.
So how then could you display some sort of animated loading indication?
Thank you

Hello All,
I am a newbie to oracle dB.
I have an old VB6 application code that used to "talk" with Oracle dB (version 10g). The 2 machines used to be connected using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver ("Provider=MSDASQL.1"). It used to run fine and all the dB's Views were updated automatically. We recently updated our Oracle to 11g running on Windows2008 r2 64bit machine. We are no longer using the Microsoft ODBC driver but the Oracle client (OraClient11g home1). The VB6 application seems to work OK, see all the records and all BUT, I noticed that all our Views are not being updated automatically anymore. I was wondering if any of you have any idea as to why this is happening and what should I do? I can always go back to the code and force the update on the all the Views but, I was hoping for a quick connection settings tweak if existed.
Thanks

gWhat evidence do you have that views are not being 'updated'? Are you talking about materialized views? A normal view has nothing to 'update'. A view contains no data. It is nothing but a pre-defined query. -
Document Viewer region not rendered
Hi,
Document Viewer region not rendered in one of the OA page. Following is the code added add the Document Viewer region in the parent page:
<oa:header id="XDOCommonRN" extends="/oracle/apps/xdo/oa/common/webui/DocumentViewerRn.MainRegion" securityMode="selfSecured"/>
This works fine in one environment and does not work in other. Please suggest what could be the reason? Is there a profile option which controls the visibility of Document Viewer region?
Thanks

Accessing form elements within a Spry region.
Since nested Spry regions isn't yet support, can someone tell
me how to access and modify form elements within a existing region?
For example, I have a region that displays a form based on
data I defined in a javascript array. On of the form elements is a
select with some options. I want to added and remove options to
this select depending on the number of objects in the data array.
The select is not defined when I try to access it after spry
has finished rendering the form, eg
document.forms[0].selOrder1.options.length = 0;
How are Spry regions attached to the browser's DOM? Does Spry
create it's own DOM subordinate to the main DOM?
Is it possible to make changes to a Spry region without using
Spry?
thx
pwpActually, there are a couple of ways to get access to the DOM
underneath a region container. If you have a region, you can put an
ID attribute on the region container node, or if you are using a
region observer, the data passed into the observer has a regionNode
property. So if you want access to the region DOM anytime the
region is re-generated, do something like this:
function myRegionObserver(notificationType, notifier, data)
// We only want to do something after the region is
re-generated,
// for all other notifications, do nothing.
if (notificationType != "onPostUpdate")
return;
// If your region container element has an ID on it, just
use
// getElementByID. This is useful in the case where your
observer
// is only ever registered with one region.
var rgnElement1 = document.getElementById("headerRegion");
alert(rgnElement1.innerHTML);
// Or you can simply use the regionNode property of the data
// that is passed in. This is useful if you've registered
the same
// observer on multiple regions. The regionNode property
will
// contain the region container node for the region that is
currently
// being updated.
var rgnElement2 = data.regionNode;
alert(rgnElement2.innerHTML);
Spry.Data.Region.addObserver("headerRegion",
myRegionObserver);
<div id="headerRegion" spry:region="ds1">

Parent members not being updated when running AGG
I have a scenario where eventhough the bottom level members change the parent members are not being updated when we run an agg
For example if the bottom level member was 150 and we run the aggregate the numbers are fine. If the bottom level member was changed to #Missing then the parent members are not updated when we run the agg
IN the script below we use CALC DIM(COstCenters,SpaceTYpe)
My concern is the setting SET FRMLBOTTOMUP ON i use, because it looks like it's skipping that block. HOw can work around this issue without affecting the performance too much. For example using SET CREATEONMISSINGBLK ON might help, but will have a performance impact
Here are the details of the script
SET MSG SUMMARY;
SET FRMLBOTTOMUP ON;
SET CALCPARALLEL 4;
FIX("Budget","Version1", "FY2011", "RSF","No_Period","M3","M6","M9","M12",@IDESCENDANTS("$1"),@LEVMBRS

CALC DIM (ManagedBU,AllocatedBU);
ENDFIX

@IANCESTORS("$1");
ENDFIXyes Aggmissg will work with from bottom up. As for performance, believe it or not, having Aggmssg on is quicker that off. That is because when off, it has to look at the children blocks to determine if there are data values present that need to overwrite the parent value where hen it is on, it does not look it just does it.

Spry:state not working properly
Hi,
I have the following code wrapped around my page:
<div spry:state="loading"
class="AjaxLoadingLarge">Loading...</div>
<div spry:state="error">Sorry! An Error has
occurred!</div>
<div spry:state="ready">
PAGE CODE HERE
</div>
Whilst the page is loading, the Loading State Appears on the
screen normally but also has the Error State Content and the Ready
State Content (unpopulated with Data) - ie it's the table with all
the header row and 1 results row displaying the dataset field names
{EventID} {EventDesc} etc.
Once the page is loaded, everything displays perfectly, It
just looks as though the "state" is not being handled properly
until the state becomes ready.
Anyone else seen this problem? and any ideas?
DomHi - Thanks for the response.
The previous line of code now reads:
<div spry:region="ds1" class="SpryHiddenRegion">
and I have closed the DIV off but it has made no difference
whatsoever - but there is no class in any .css for this.
Having Googled this, I found that some people have a class in
the .css as display:none. I added this and nothing is then visible.
Any further ideas?

ERROR: spry:region or spry:detailregion attribute has no data set!
here's the basics...
i'm running fusebox for php (if that makes any difference)
i'm also reusing the same gallery for multiple fuseactions,
and using my circuit.xml file to set the var $gallery
depending on which fuseaction has been called.
the photos already exist in a database and full size and
thumbs have already been created by imagemagick
i plan on writing a script that uses imagemagick to get the
dimensions of the imagefiles and saves them to four respective new
columns in my db table (so i hope the problem isn't related to the
height attributes not being set in my xml.... let's hope it's
somthing else, ok?)
i'm creating my datasets like this
quote:
var dsGallery = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("/index.php",
"gallery", { method: "POST", postData: "do=m.get<?php echo
$gallery ?>Gallery", headers: { "Content-Type": "text/xml" });
var dsPhotos = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("/index.php",
"gallery/photos/photo", { method: "POST", postData:
"do=m.get<?php echo $gallery ?>Gallery", headers: {
"Content-Type": "text/xml"});
the output xml is perfect... here's an example
http://www.inkincnewyork.com/index.php?do=m.getFlashGallery
since i'm reusing the gallery, and have no need for the
dsGalleries related functionality i did this.
using the long way of referencing each piece of data, just to
make sure it's all kosher
quote:
<div id="thumbnails" spry:region="dsPhotos dsGallery">
<div spry:repeat="dsPhotos"
onclick="HandleThumbnailClick('{ds_RowID}');"
onmouseover="GrowThumbnail(this.firstChild,
'{dsPhoto::photo/@thumbwidth}', '{dsPhoto::photo/@thumbheight}');"
onmouseout="ShrinkThumbnail(this.firstChild);"><img
id="tn{ds_RowID}" alt="thumbnail for {dsPhoto::photo/@thumbpath}"
src="{dsGallery::thumbnail/@base}{dsPhoto::photo/@thumbpath}"
width="24" height="24" style="left: 0px; right: 0px;"
/></div>
<p class="ClearAll"></p>
</div>
but i am now getting this error
spry:region or spry:detailregion attribute has no data set!
for each XMLDataSet
anyone have any ideas?A few things I noticed when looking at your sample source
above:
The "Content-Type" should be the type for the post data, not
what you expect to get back. So in your case, you should be using:
"Content-Type": "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
which is the default type so you don't really have to pass it
to the constructor unless you are posting something other than that
type.
Next, your {ds_RowID} data references are missing the data
set prefix. If you use more than one data set for a given region,
you need to use the prefix to make sure you are getting the
ds_RowID from the correct data set.
The error: "spry:region or spry:detailregion attribute has no
data set!" tells me that the data sets are not defined at the time
Spry first processes the region. Are your data sets being created
in a script tag in the head? Or are you creating them in some
function that gets fired off at a specific time?
