Spry Tabs from Flash?

I have Spry tabs on my page. I am trying to control which tab
is active from a Flash movie on the page.
In the HTML, I have a function:
function switchTab(which) {
TabbedPanels1.showPanel(which);
In Flash, I have this actionscript (within an event):
var which:uint = myList.getSelectedItem().tab;
ExternalInterface.call("switchTab", "which");
I have checked this by switching temporarily to a test
function:
function testing(which) {
alert(which);
And the alert box works and shows the number (from an xml
parameter "tab"). But the switchTab function above fails. All the
tabs just collapse when called.
Note: if I hard code the function, as in:
function switchTab() {
TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);
and call just "switchtab" from flash, it does switch to tab
index 1.

I think I may have gotten it:
var which:uint = myList.getSelectedItem().tab;
ExternalInterface.call("switchTab", which);
No quotes on the which.

I created a spry accordion in an html page and a little spry controller in flash, on the same page.
The flash controller contains buttons that should trigger the accordion in the same page.
here is the code I inserted in a flash button:

where mypanel_ID is the ID of the accordion on the page.
When I click any flash button this works perfectly in firefox and chrome, but it doesn't work in IE 8 and Opera.

Link to spry tab panels

HI there I'm new to this whole spry thing heck I'm even new
to posting; I'm trying to link to a spry tab from a flash button
and well it's just not working I can use the sample as written

It is possible to link to a specific tabbed panel from another page, may I suggest you use the following link to visit a post in the spry forum were you will find all the steps needed to do this.

Opening an HTML popup from Flash, not as tab

I need to open an HTML popup from Flash (using ActionScript in
Flex 4).
Thus far I found a solution, and it does work in Safari - a new
and separate HTML window is popped up (with a new web page).

Here's a solution.
1. Make ExternalInterface work when files are loaded as local files:
Go to
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
In tab Global Security Settings: Edit Locations -> Add Location ->
browse to the .swf file, add it. Make sure it's in the list (under the
Edit Locations drop down, with a green check mark.)
Now open the HTML wrapper in a browser (eg Firefox).
Now this works (ActionScript):

On Windows: perhaps:

Multi page recordset output from ASP page on Spry Tabbed Panel Widget

I am using a simple Spry Tabbed panel set on my asp page to show the output from different ASP pages, inside the tabbed panels. The tabbed panels on the page under consideration (destination page) display the output from different asp pages (source pages). The source asp pages generate multi page outputs which are paginated on the source page itself and pagination links are displayed on the source page itself.
However, we dont want to display the source page outside of the tabbed panel, but instead the output content from the source asp pages should show inside the tabbeed panels only. The first page generated by the source asp page displays correctly inside the tabbed panel. However, when the user clicks on the links for the next page generated by the source asp page, but which is being displayed inside the destination page tabbed panel, they dont display the next page inside the tabbed panel. Instead the source asp page displays the output outside the tabbed panel destination page.
Please advise on how to ensure that the user can page through the recordset generated by the source asp page by clicking on the pagination links at the bottom of the records, while ensuring that the output displays within the tabbed panels on the destination asp page.
I am enclosing the source code being used to generate the spry tabbed panel widget and also updating it with the output from the source asp page. In this case, the code given below is from the main page containing the widget and the source asp page is "sample.asp", which generates multi page output.
Please note that I am not too keen on using xml data sets output from the source asp page, but would be more comfortable with directly using the asp pages to fill the tabbed panel content.

I fully agree that the problem does not lie with tthe tabbed panels.
The solution would probably be first required to be tried using ajax on any div tab.
Then the same code would have to be used on Sprytabbed panel. Hence, the following may be advised:
1. Sample code for server side pagination and displaying inside any div tag and refreshing it using ajax. the update link would also lie inside the div tag which would show the next/ previous page without reloading the page.
2. Then adapting the refresh technique using ajax in the Spry Tabbed panel using the inbuilt updatecontent method of the Spry Tabbed panels.
In order to achieve the above, I am getting the recordset output in the tab content as expected. The recordset is also getting the pagination links from server side asp as required.
However, it is also generating the following error.

Need help linking spry tabbed panel from external page

Could use some help. I need to link to a specific spry tabbed panel on page "A" from a link on page "B" I have tried several "solutions" on the web and had no luck. When I add the code needed at the bottom of the code where you initiate the instance, it stacks the content of ALL panels in the first panel, and renders the tabs inoperable. This is a key feature I need in a new site being developed.

I'm currently working for Arabic version of a webpage, the menus and other contents should start from right to left. Does anyone who know how to set the Spry Tabs to start the tabs from left to right?

Spry Tabbed Panels and Pop Up Link from Image Hotspot

I've created an image map with Hotspot links to either send to another web page or to open a previously created Pop Up window with information.
I've imported my image, image map and Hotspots into a tab
The issue I'm having is when clicking on the hotspot (within the Spry tabbed panel), to open the pop up page; it doesn't work
If I select a Hotspot which sends users to another web page, that works ok.
Would appreciate it if someone else who has run into this and what your recommendation is for a fix.

Spry tabbed panel

Hi,
I've paced a Spry tabbed panel into a page below 3 thumbnails of images, you click on the tab and a larger image drops down, that works just fine but I can't figure out how to have the contents of all tabs to be empty on load so no large images in the content area are visible, is this possible?

Spry Tabbed Panels content open verticaly on web site opening?

Hello,
As long as the client does'nt authorised javascript my opening web site page does'nt make sense, we see all the content of the tabs openned vertically.
Is there a way to have an acceptable opening page , maybe without the the tabs working for the one who dont accept javascript?

Yes and so it should when one uses a JS-enabled browser; but if one turns JS off then you will see the tabs.
A bit of imagination is required to juggle between what you want the different browsers to see. Anything within the NOSCRIPT tags will only be seen by non-JS-browsers.
If you want to remove a particular piece of code from JS-enabled-browsers you could use

Stop all sounds or unload SWFs in Spry Tabbed Pages

Hello
I am using the Dreamweaver Spry Tabbed pages for a project.
On several of the tabbed pages I have flash content running in iFrames.
If the user does not stop the movie before clicking on another tab the sound will continue and the movie will keep running in the background.
How do I script the tabbed panel code to unload the swf content before going to another tab? And to reload the content when returning to pages with swf content again?

Tab 1 shows a flv by embedding the code right in the HTML
Tab 2 just shows text: Content 2
Tab 3 shows a flv imported from another HTML page in a iFrame
None of the movies are set to autoplay - you have to click the arrow to start them.
This is what I found:
On the Mac:
In Safari, Chrome and Firefox:
When playing the movie in Tab 1 (embedded flash object) > start the movie > then click tab 2 = the movie readily stops as desired, and loads the text on tab 2.
When playing the movie in Tab 3 (iFrame version) > start the movie > then click tab 2 = the movie keeps playing, and the sound will continue.
On the PC:
In IE 8 (which is my main audience) It makes no difference if the flash content is embedded or iFramed in = when clicking tab 2 the movies continues playback no matter which one (tab 1 or tab 3) is playing.
Chrome: (takes longer to load) Same as on the Mac = the embedded verion provides the desired function.
Firefox: (takes longer to load) Surprise! It does not matter is the Flash is embedded or iFramed in = When tab 2 is clicked the playback of either of the Flash versions stop.
What I would like:
Ideally I would love a fix for IE 8 that would allow stop playback of the iFrame version, since it offers many advantages over the embedded version.
Can you help me?

Loading a flex swf into a spry tab area

I have a spry tabbed panel in one of the panels I am
attempting to load an swf that I created using Flex builder. The
swf runs fine when run standalone but from within the spry tab
although it does load and run correctly I get a nasty error message
in both Firefox and Explorer :
