SQL - in using a string to filter by numbers

Hi,
Here is my problem, I have a simple query in which I want to include a condition IN using a bind variable. The bind variable is a string that stores numbers delimited by a comma.
The query looks like this :
select emp_id, ename
from emp
where emp_id in (:P_EMP_IDS);
:P_EMP_IDS is equal to '10,11,12'
But I want the query to do this :
select emp_id, ename
from emp
where emp_id in (10,11,12);
Is there a way to do this without converting my query into PL/SQL ?

In SQL*Plus, you can easily do that with a substitution variable rather than a bind variable:
select  emp_id, ename
from    emp
where   emp_id in (&P_EMP_IDS);This asktom page deals with your question.
