Squid authenticator crashes on sign-in

Hey guys,
i've set up a new root server in france and installed squid on it to bypass the youtube-restrictions and other stuff here in germany.
the problem is, that every time i try to sign-in the authenticator process (basic_ncsa_auth) crashes due to a segfault in libc.
journatctl shows this
Feb 17 16:25:41 **hidden** kernel: basic_ncsa_auth[21752]: segfault at 0 ip 00007fce4e0d457a sp 00007fff51c6cbc8 error 4 in libc-2.17.so[7fce4dfaa000+1a4000]
Feb 17 16:25:41 **hidden** squid[21747]: WARNING: basicauthenticator #1 exited
Feb 17 16:25:41 **hidden** squid[21747]: Too few basicauthenticator processes are running (need 1/20)

Feb 17 16:25:41 **hidden** squid[21747]: helperOpenServers: Starting 1/20 'basic_ncsa_auth' processes
Feb 17 16:25:41 **hidden** systemd-coredump[21985]: Process 21752 (basic_ncsa_auth) dumped core.
the dumped core stuff includes usernames and password-hashes so i will not post them here.
i've tried several squid versions (3.2.3-1, 3.2.6-2, 3.2.7-2, 3.3.1-1) but none of them works. on my old machine (with glibc and squid not updated to the latest version) it works as expected.
any ideas what to do next or a hint what it could be?
thanks in advance
jva

Most likely this is one of the several cases when the latest Skype 7.0 version is not able correctly to interpret BIOS data. At least, this was the issue with the previously reported cases with this error message:
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00d527d7
or
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00d517d7
It seems that Skype has identified the issue and a fix is promised in one of the upcoming Skype versions.

Meanwhile, the working solution is to uninstall the 7.0 version and install the previous 6.21.0.104 Skype version:

  • Authentication and Single Sign-On

    Does the Ironport support LDAP authentication with Single Sign-On. Or, is it only supported on NTLM? Can you setup multiple authentication realms to the same AD server, but call different AD groups? What I am trying to accomplish is to have single sign-on working and also have users places in certain access policies according to which AD group they are in. For instance, the marketing group would be placed into on access policy while HR would be place in another.

    Hello,
    Single Sign on is done on NTLM.
    If you go to your GUI? Top Right Hand side > Support and Help Dropdown >  Select On Line Help > Then search for working with authentication realms
    You will see as follows :
    An authentication realm is a set of  authentication servers (or a single server) supporting a single  authentication protocol with a particular configuration.
    You can perform any of the following tasks  when configuring authentication:
    Include up to three authentication  servers in a realm.
    Create zero or more LDAP  realms.
    Create zero or one NTLM  realm.
    Include an authentication server in  multiple realms.
    Include one or more realms in an  authentication sequence.
    Include realms of different  protocols in a single authentication  sequence.
    Assign a realm or a sequence to an  Access Policy group.
    You can do what you are trying to do with NTLM.
    I hope this answers your query.

    Eric

  • Pluggable Authentication and Single Sign On

    When using pluggable authentication with single sign on enabled, does RD forward the credentials of the client to the session host or those of the identity provided by the ITSGAuthenticatiionEngine.AuthenticateUser  implementation's call to ITSGAuthenticateUserSink::OnUserAuthenticated?
    I have a PAA authentication plug-in (ITSGAuthenticatiionEngine) implementation and am trying to determine the potential security impact of this API.

    Hi David,
    As far as I know, RDS only supports single-sign-on through enabling group policy Allow Delegating Default Credentials.

    You may need to contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services to find out whether the pluggable authentication

  • Authentication between Single Sign-On and Web based applications

    Hi everyone,
    I need to create a way in Portal 10g (10.1.2.0.2) that allow me to do the following:
    Once the user is logged on Portal (against Single Sign-On - SSO) he doesn't need to retype his username/password when he access a web based application throught the portal, in my case, an ASP application (not .NET, just ASP).
    I made a test creating a External Application in SSO and after publishing this portlet (external application) inside portal.
    It worked, BUT I was prompted to inform username/password to log on the aplication.
    So, the user end up entering his password twice.
    Does anybody know a way to acomplish this task?
    The documentation I'm researching is:
    Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On
    Administrator's Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B14078-02
    Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On
    Security Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B13999-03
    Thank you very much,
    Diogo Santos.

    have figured out how to secure any HTML, ASP, PHP, CFM, etc. web page again Portal / OID using the PDK toolkit.
    Using AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) and one Oracle Stored Procedure just adding a simple Javascript call to any HTML, ASP, PHP, etc. web page can secure it via Oracle SSO (OID). Access to any secured web page will require that it to be linked from an authenticated Portal session or a page opened in an authenticated Portal session.
    This process can be easily modified to add in group security etc. This is just my starting point.
    1) Create a stored procedure
    # Make sure it has access to portal.wwctx_api.is_logged_on
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE login_ajax_check (
    display_error IN number default NULL) AS
    BEGIN NULL;
    If portal.wwctx_api.is_logged_on = false then
    htp.prn('DENY');
    ELSE
    htp.prn('ALLOW');
    END IF;
    Exception when others then htp.p('DENY');
    END;
    2) Use this Javascript in any page you wish to secure.
    <-- Begin Paste Here -->
    <script>
    var allowgo=2
    function ajaxCallRemotePage(url)
    if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
    // Non-IE browsers
    req = new XMLHttpRequest();
    req.onreadystatechange = processStateChange;
    req.open("GET", url, false);
    req.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT");
    req.send(null);
    else if (window.ActiveXObject)
    // IE
    req = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
    req.onreadystatechange = processStateChange;
    req.open("GET", url, false);
    req.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT");
    req.send();
    else
    return; // Navigateur non compatible
    // process the return of the "ajaxCallRemotePage"
    function CheckPortal()
    ajaxCallRemotePage('[Your page calling the procedure from above]');
    function processStateChange()
    if (req.readyState == 4)
    if (req.status == 200)
    if (req.responseText.substring(0,4) == 'ALLO')
    allowgo = 0;
    else
    allowgo = 1;
    function doPage()
    if (allowgo==1)
    window.location='[Your login or error page]';
    CheckPortal();
    doPage();
    </script>
    <-- End Paste Here -->
    That's it!!! Super easy. It works great too.

  • CC desktop app crashes on sign in. Unable to launch any CC applications .

    I'm having a problem with the Creative Cloud desktop app. It keeps crashing when I enter my Adobe ID to sign in. If I try to launch any of the CC applications, the Adobe Application Manager opens with a "Sign In Required" message. When I attempt the sign in from AAM, that crashes as well. I am unable to use any Adobe products on my laptop right now. This all happened after running a string of updates.
    Here is some system info:
    MacBook Pro 2011
    2.2 i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD
    OS X 10.8.4
    And a few things that I have tried:
    Uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud Desktop.
    Changed Adobe ID password.
    Trashed CC Desktop preferences.
    Trashed all other Adobe preferences.
    Rebooted.
    One thing that did get it working was creating a new user account and signing in under the new account. But when I log back in to my personal user account It requires another Adobe ID sign in and nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Paul Zadie,
    Please rename OOBE to OOBE.old

  • IE Crashes with signed applet.

    I've been having problems in the last few days where my signed applet will crash on one server, and will not on the other.
    The server it doesn't crash on never crashes, where as the one it does crash on, will always crash. The certificate is currently my own and I have not yet purchased a Verisign cert.
    The applet uses 1.3.1_04 and I'm not sure what else to do.
    Any suggestions?

    Maybe some bug on 1.3.1_04 plugin version, uninstall it and
    try to install the version 1.3.1_01 from sun archive:
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html
    I had the same problem running that 1.3.1_04 version!
    When I get installed the 1.3.1_01 version I had not problems
    anymore.

  • Authentication on single sign on page slow and hangs.

    Hi members
    We are using Oracle application server single signon with Apex as partner application. The single sign on page authentication was working properly until yesterday when all of a sudden it became very slow. After the username and password are entered and login button is pressed, the blue status bar is moving extremely slow finally leading to a page not found. Can someone advise what components (logfiles etc) need to be checked to resolve this?
    Thank you.
    Ravi.

    Hi,
    I tried to find the cause but I have no clue yet as to what is wrong with this slowness of single sign on page. Can someone throw some light on this and tell what could be wrong here? Thank you. There are some errors in the HTTP Server Virtual Host log file and the log file is creates when oc4j_security was restarted. In the documentation, they were described as not uncommon. I am doubting if that is the reason behind the slowness. Thanks in advance.

  • Firefox crashes when signing out from the "New Improved Yahoo Mail"

    I reluctantly switched to the New Improved Yahoo Mail yesterday, from Yahoo Classic, every time I sign out Firefox crashes and I get an error message. I have filled out the information and selected restart or quit, and another error message says that the report could not be submitted. I resisted converting to the new Yahoo, all their other upgrades did nothing for me.
    Using Firefox on a Mac Book Pro, Hughes net satellite internet connection.

    I have exactly the same issue. Reluctantly switched to New Yahoo Mail, downloaded latest firefox as of 13 Sep 2011 and every time I try and sign out of Yahoo it crashes. I'm also using a Mac Book Pro. Is there a fix yet?

  • Applications crash when signed on as network users

    All users are reporting that when logged on with their network account (we are using home folders/roaming profiles) at some time or another, programs will crash or freeze up on them and then will not open when trying to re-launch.  I'm experiencing probably 3-4 occurrences daily for different users.  I’ve seen it happen to safari, notes, mail (internet accounts), open office, wave and ilog.  My fix for it has been to go into the user’s library folder and delete the appropriate folder pertaining to the program that crashed.  For example if it happens to Notes, I go into ~\Library\containers and delete com.apple.notes or if it happens to open office, I go into ~\Library\application support and delete OpenOffice. After which, the library directory is recreated once the program is launch again and it seems to work from there.  I haven’t been able to track down the correct data folder for each application so in some cases, I have deleted the user altogether and recreated the account.
    This issue is definitely tied to the user account because if they move workstations, the problem follows and does not happen when signed on with a local account.  The work around to this point is users are resorting to signing on with a local account and working from there.  I have been unable to determine a common occurrence that precedes this happening so I’m not really sure what’s causing it.
    Although we are running Mavericks on all systems including the server and server version 3, this issue existed on previous OS X versions.
    Any help is appriciated.

    Did you run Disk Utility> Repair Permissions after installing the HP driver software? While Repair Permissions may no longer be a useful as it was as a generic troubleshooting step under OS X 10.2.x, it's still essential if you have any third-party software that requires an administrative password to install, especially HP or Adobe software, which are known to trample around placing files with mis-set permissions all over the place.

    Only clients "Starting..." screen is showing before the crash.

    Please check if Word, Excel work correctly.
    Check if Lync 2013 works on other computer installed using the same installation media.

  • Skype & Quicksilver (latest versions) both crash on sign-in

    Hi - just upgraded to snow leopard, now both skype and quicksilver keep quitting "unexpectedly".
    Here are the skype error details, in case this means anything to anyone here - any help much appreciated (I sincerely hope my posting this entire thing is not considered spamming the forum; if so, I apologize. It's just that it is all gibberish to me and I've no idea what is important and what is not).
    Thanks.

    Hi - I resolved the issue by downgrading on quicksilver (using the 10.5 version works fine) and the skype people, after some back and forth, sent me a version that works:
    "Please download the test build from the following link:-
    https://developer.skype.com/MacSkype?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=SkypeSetupT est.dmg
    NB: This is a test build ONLY if you experience any other problems
    using this build we strongly recommend that you uninstall."
    Perhaps that'll help.

  • Acrobat Crashes when signing a document

    I have Acrobat 8.1.7 professional and all of a sudden I am unable to digitally sign documents. When I attempt to sign a document, the "sign document" dialog box opens, freezes and the acrobat closes down. Can someone assist me with this issue? Windows XP SP3.

    The only  plug-ins installed are the default ones that came installed with Acrobat.  All of these are developed by Adobe, so i'm assuming your are not referring to these as "3rd party".  All custom plug-ins have been uninstalled with the exception of the Stamper sample to test this theory.  Quite literally this can be reproduced by adding  the following code to the "ToolActivate" method in StamperUI.cpp.  This is the method that is wired into both the MenuItem and Button click events by default in this sample.  When this code is executed by a MenuItem event, no issue at all.  When this code is executed by a button click event, an exception is thrown from Acrobat.exe.  Note that the exception is not thrown from the ToolActivate method, it is thrown at some point after this method completes.
    AVDoc avDoc = AVAppGetActiveDoc();
    if (avDoc != NULL)
    AVDocClose(avDoc, true);
    As you can see, no objects are being acquired in this code.  If AVDocClose is not executed, no issues at all.  Although that goes against what i am attempting to do (as a result of a Button click, i need to be able to close the AVDoc).
    Any thoughts as to root cause of this issue?
    Karl, i really appriciate your assistance!  Thanks.
