SRM One Client + Portal and MDM system on top of SAP EHP4 system
Hi!
we successfully upgraded SAP ERP 6.0 system to SAP EHP4.
Now we would like to extend the functionality by adding the following components:
- SRM One Client
- Portal and MDM
Question:
1) Can some one explain the procedure to do this?
2 Where can I find the Installation files and documentation?
Any helpful information will be very appreciated
Hi!
Thank you very much for your response!!
My actual situation:
I have a EHP4 for SAP ERP which has only ABAP stack.
Questions
1) Should/must I install a Java-Add In Instance?
a) Is it possible to install a Java Add In Instance for EHP4 ERP system or do I need only a extra/new Windows server for this?
b) what are the must usage scenarios I have to choose for the Java installation (Portal, MDM, PI)?
2) what is the exact installation sequence (SRM One Client, SRM MDM, NW Portal)?
Thank you very much!

SAP/SRM One client approach
Hi all,
Not sure where to put this question.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on finding information on the benefits / risks/issues on a one client approached for SRM?

SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP: Own client needed for SRM?
Hello experts,
i've a question concerning the SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP4 as Add-On.
Is it possible to use SRM and ERP funtionality in a single client e.g. 001?
Or do we have to use different clients on the system like for SUS?
I haven't found any information regarding this topic in SAP ressources. I'm currently using CG "SAP SRM on One Client in
SAP ERP" Release date 2008 (found on marketplace/srm-inst --> srm7.0); SRM - Technical Basis Configuration (BuildingBlock S00/S03). I'm facing problems while going through the following customizing steps:
Assign logical System to Client [both logicall systems are on the same client (001)] ==> error while trying to reference the second logical sys. because client (001) cannot be used again (own presumption: error message differs)
I've seen that some of you have successfully installed and customized this szenario. If someone could provide me any helpful information or guideline how to proceed in general... would be great...
Best regards,
PATRICKThanks for your reply. I've checked the offline documentation because i've no access to solman.
There is a document which describes the steps for configuring one-client customizing on marketplace.
Link: [SAP SRM 7.0: SAP SRM on One Client with SAP ERP|https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001201562009E]
The problem is that its impossible to cofigure the system like it's described in the document.
Let me explain why...
SRM Addon is installed and customizing is done in client 001 (same client as erp)
overview about defined logical systems:
-ONECLNTERP (for ERP is defined)
-ONECLNTEBP (for SRM is defined)
When I try to assign the logical system to client 001 it works for the first entry
for the second log. system it shows up an error message.
-->I assume because client 001 has been already assigned. I cant use client 001 again.
But One-Client szenario schould be possible in a single client or is SAPs One-Client more like One-System with differnet clients for SRM and ERP on the same machine?
Because of the above mentioned problem I assume that it's impossible to run ERP and SRM in the same Client number.
Am I right? Do I have to use two Clients on One System for proper Customizing?
Or if it's possible to use a single client on one machine for both ERP and SRM how is it possible to assign two log. systems to one client number?
I'm totally confused. Any help would be appreciated - any tips/hints/experiences from someone who has customized One-Client?

Dear Experts,
Need your help.
We are planning to implement MM SUS on SRM one client.
I have some questions/ doubts before starting the implementation could you please help me to answer them
Do we need PI to have a connection between SRM and MM
because its SRM one client SRM is add-on to ECC I mean on the same server?
b. Do we need to have separate client to implement SUS and
SRM as we generally do in case of separate SRM system ?
Thanks & Regards
Ankit JainHi Ankit,
a, If you are going to use MM-SUS scenario, then XI is a must. Because you will need XI for message exchange for Supplier Self registration,PO Response, ASN, GR , Invoice creation
b, Yes, it is recommeded to implent SUS in a separate client than SRM.

SRM one client Contract Management
Dear Experts,
Can we create contracts in SRM one client and distribute them to our ECC system.
Because I seached on service marketplace and no where its mentioned that Contract mangement is possible in SRM one client.
Sourcing is possible that I have checked the functionality. Please reply
Thanks
Ankit JainHi Ivy,
Yes Correct nothing mentioned in the configuration guide or any other document.
But I checked System nodes no where I found that contract management is possible in SRM one client.
Also Note 963000 doesn't say anything about it.
Below link also says its not possible so I am confused even Roles doesn't have Contract Menu

Connection between Portal and MDM
Hi all
Can anybody help me on how to establish the connection between portal and MDM with step by step procedure.
i am new to this combination .
before i worked with portal but not worked with MDM .
Regards
Suresh babuHello Suresh,
As of my knowledge MDM IViews have the advantage to ful fil your neeed to provide connectivity moreover, that they are not complex in structure and are therefore not restricted by any underlying schema structure. As opposed to regular iViews in other systems which are embedded into the pages on which they appear, MDM iViews are more generic and granular in nature enabling their placement on a page to be more adaptable.
The SAP Enterprise Portal (SAP EP) offers templates for creating the iViews. The following are some examples of these templates available at the link:
Procedure:
1. Create a new page using the page wizard.
2. To see the iViews you created on the new page, you need to link them to the page. Right-click each of the iViews that you created and from the context menu, select Add iView to Page → Delta Link
3. Double-click the new page you created and select:
Page Content to view a list of the iViews that have been linked to this page
Page Layout to view the layout currently assigned to this page. The iViews can be rearranged using the drag&drop function.
4. The visual structure of a page can be changed with the Page Layout function. Select Define Layout to reset the layout of the page.
5. Select Preview to view the page showing how the iViews have been arranged. The preview simulates what an end user sees at runtime.

Pro's and Con's of having Single SAP BI System to multiple BI system
Hi Gurus,
We are presently in One SAP ECC and One SAP BI landscape for two of our customers belonging to Same Parent Group.
Now we are implementing SAP for 4 more customers belonging to Same parent group in different SAP ECC system.
As part of BI solution, these 4 customers chosen the SAP BW as OLAP system, Now can some one explain the pro's and con's of having multiple SAP BI systems to one SAP BI system for all customers.
Main issue will be the Master data management from all the 6 customers where there are chances that either one or two customers might have same GL account codes or Vendor Keys or Cost centers, which may effect dataloads for their respective Master Data (Attributes, texts & hierarchies) infoobjects.
If we chose multiple SAP BI systems,is there any product with in Netweaver where we can derive KPI's from each SAP BI system separately and consolidate into one reporting Dashboard's or Scorecards. We may expect some further calculations and formulas in the KPI's from two different SAP BI systems.
Can some one help us in providing some inputs to the above scenario?
Thanks & best regards,
Sudhakar.KSuhakar,
I am not an expert in WAD and Visual Composer, so I will withhold comment. Your organization may have requirements which push to BO regardless of your underlying BI implementation.
Yes, the display of text/key can be a small sticking point. Currently I am working with an SRM reporting scenario where we have objects such as Vendor from many different ECC systems, and the key is compounded with 0LOGSYS. This makes the key display as ZSRCSYSKEY/ZVENDORKEY. One workaround, is to put 0LOGSYS on the row of the report, and hide the attribute, as from the user's point of view, they do not care to see which source system the Vendor comes from.
There would be nothing to prevent you from spawning off separate copies of the BEx query for each source system/group of users, if they have requirements for a slightly different display of data. But the point is, you can still get a consolidated view of your key figures across all business units if it is modelled into one system, regardless of which UI is used.
I think regardless of the path you take, there will always be challenges. I always prefer to address the challenges via modeling, rather than at the UI layer.
Now however, if you already had separate BW systems in place for each regional business unit, putting a new dashboard tool to pull the data together might be a simpler solution. -
External System Handling Units to SAP ECC System and Pack Outbound DO
Hi Guru
Packing Is done in External System for SAP ECC Sales Order Before Outbound Delivery Creation.
How to capture External System Handling Units in to SAP ECC System and Pack Outbound Delivery Line Items.
Please help
Thanks In Advance
SRBit of a cart-before-the-horse situation here.
Lets assume that your business process goes ahead and creates a delivery note, but leaves it unpicked and unpacked. Picking and packing will occur with the inbound IDoc from your external system.
Map the external system data into a basic IDoc type DELVRY0X. I think the current one is DELVRY07.
Use an inbound IDoc message type SHPCON to carry the external system data into your ECC system.
The process code DELV works well with DELVRY0X inbounds. It has lots of user exits. You will need them because you will need a determination process to know which delivery note to update with the external system data.
When you map the handling unit data correctly into the IDoc, the process code will create the handling units on your delivery. The external handling unit numbers should end up in VEKP- EXIDV.

What is Field Grouping and how we do this in SAP CRM SYSTEM?
Hi Champs,
I shall be greatful if you guys can provide me the solution as I am a begineer in this stream.
Regards,
ConteHi Conte,
If you are talking about field groupings for a business partner in CRM then it is used
to define which fields based on your requirement can be made as an
1)Require an entry (required entry)
2) Are ready for input (optional entry)
3) Are displayed (display)
4)Are hidden (hide),
For example: when you are creating a customer you want the conatact number of the Customer and you want to make it mandatory, this can be done using field groupings.
you can follow this path to customize-
spro>img>cross application components>SAP Business Partner>Business Partner>Basic settings>Field groupings.
It gives 4 options to configure the fields-
1)configure field attributes as per client
2)configure field attributes as per BP role
3)configure field attributes as per Activity
4)configure field attributes as per BP type.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
My Client is currently using SAP ECC MM for Procure to Payment process. We are currently evaluating option for implementing SRM 7.0 for web base procurement solution. As per the information available in www.service.sap.com, there is a software called u2018SAP SRM on one client with SAP ERPu2019 available at this moment. I have following doubts regarding SRM on one client system:
1. As I mention, currently we are using SAP ECC. Does the u2018SRM one client softwareu2019 component will install on the top of our
existing ECC system in the same server if we will implement SRM one client system ?
2. Normal SRM 7.0 connect to ECC through RFC connection. As SRM and ECC are on the same client. Does it mean we don't
required RFC connection for SRM one client system?
3. In one client SRM system, SRM can be install on the top of existing ECC system. Does it mean, additional hardware
components like server, network etc are not are not required for SRM one client system ? We can use the existing ECC server
and network for SRM.
Thanks in advance.
Regds,
JenniferHi Jeniifer,
I tried providing information to your queries below in bold. Hope it is of any help to you.
1. As I mention, currently we are using SAP ECC. Does the u2018SRM one client softwareu2019 component will install on the top of our
existing ECC system in the same server if we will implement SRM one client system ? - *Yes. SRM will get installed in the same server.*
2. Normal SRM 7.0 connect to ECC through RFC connection. As SRM and ECC are on the same client. Does it mean we don't
required RFC connection for SRM one client system? - RFC connection will still be required but since it's same client, the connectivity and data transfer will be very fast and quick.
3. In one client SRM system, SRM can be install on the top of existing ECC system. Does it mean, additional hardware
components like server, network etc are not are not required for SRM one client system ? We can use the existing ECC server
and network for SRM. - Yes you can use existing ECC server.
This SRM one client software will be very useful in case of a small industry or business, which does not have huge data or processing. But in case your organisation is bigger, then this will not be very useful.
To find out possibility of usage of SRM one client software, I would suggest you to get in touch with SAP sales team and they will arrange for a meet to discuss it further.
Cheers,

Installation of SAP Business One client and required administration rights
Dear community,
I would like to kindly ask you for your feedback on the installation of SAP Business One client and its patches on end-user computers.
The pain points I have heard so far are the following:
- The installation of SAP Business One client and its patches has to be started by a user with administrator rights. As far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), this is also required in case of installation of any other software.
- End users usually do not have administrator rights and therefore the SAP Business One clients have to be manually upgraded by administrator. This is time consuming (and therefore costly) activity.
We are considering to design a new solution which would overcome the above limitations.
I would like to confirm with you if my understanding is correct:
Question 1:
Is it a common situation that the end-users of SAP Business One client do not have administrator rights and therefore cannot install the patches of SAP Business One client by themselves?
If yes, how do you resolve this currently?
Question 2:
Do you use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Active Directory (or any other 3rd party solution) to automatically distribute software packages and updates to client PCs at your customers?
Question 3:
If the SAP Business One client installation (and its patches) is delivered as MSI package with silent installation capability, would you be able to automate the deployment of B1 client updates to client PC using the abovementioned technologies? Or can you still see some obstacles?
Thank you
Best regards
Jan Ruzarovsky
SAP Business One Product ManagementDear all,
Thank you very much for your comments, very helpful!
@Marco - SAP Business One 8.8 client currently does not support the silent installation / upgrade. However we are currently considering this requirement and we would like to deliver it as soon as possible.
We are currently considering several possible designs. One of them is as follows:
1. A new SAP Business One Updater Service will be installed on each client workstation.
It will be a windows service installed and running under a local system account.
2. The updater service will check regularly if there are any new patches of SAP Business One client or add-ons uploaded to a configured shared directory.
3. If a new patch is found in the shared directory, the updater service will SILENTLY install the new patch (add-ons, SAP Business One) on the client workstation.
The service would be able to install patches even if nobody is logged in.
Questions:
If we consider the above design, there are a few open topics:
1. During the upgrade of the SAP Business One server, the client patches (and SAP add-on patches, partner add-ons) would be placed to a SHARED directory instead of into SBO-Common (as it is implemented currently).
- Does this have any impact on your tools, processes or add-ons?
2. SAP Business One upgrade wizard will put the latest patch of SAP Business One client into a configured shared directory. The shared directory will have to be read-only for everybody in the network to avoid that the valid installation files are replaced by malware or virus infected files
- Can you configure such a shared directory?
From customer perspective, if a new patch is put into the shared directory, the updater service can behave as follows:
1. Manually initiated upgrade of the client
Example: Customer starts the old (not upgraded) SAP Business One client. The client will inform him/her that a new patch has been found and it has to be installed in order to continue working with the client. After customer clicks "Yes", the upgrader service starts the silent installation of the client and informs customer about the progress. Once the upgrade is finished, the upgraded SAP Business One client will be started automatically.
2. Automatic update:
- Update the client automatically (e.g. overnight) if customer is not working with SAP Business One
- If SAP Business One client is running, ask customer if he/she wishes to upgrade the client now or to delay the upgrade by X minutes.
Question: Which of the above two scenarios would you and your customers prefer?
If the upgrade is fully silent, automated and handled by the upgrader service, Is it acceptable for customers to trigger the installation manually and wait till the client is upgraded? Or would they prefer to have the client updated for them e.g. overnight so they can immediately start to work?
Best regards
Jan

Client Copies and Currency Changes
Hi All,
Looking for some experience with client copies and currency changes. We have a source system that was created with EUR as the system currency (SCC4 setting). We are building a new system with an export of the source system. The target system will be USD (or one of several other currencies). The question is how do you resolve the currency differences? Is it possible to create a new client from a source client of a different currency? (i.e. SIDCLNT100 = EUR , SIDCLNT110 = USD). What type of conversion is needed and where in the process is it performed? Thoughts or comments on experience is greatly appreciated!!Hi Lee,
You can do a client copy and create a specific client for the PI (formerly XI) and BI capabilities or just use client 001 for both.
Obviously the latter option is the easiest one.
The only benefit is that security might be easier with a separate client for each but that is a pretty weak argument in my opinion.
BTW: You can't share a client for PI/BI with an ERP client.
Cheers,
Mike. -
When are DDIC and SAP* used in Client 066 and 001
Hi everyone,
Can someone please shed some light on when DDIC and SAP* users are supposed to be used in logging into client 066 and 001?
Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Divine Grace BanzonUser DDIC is a user with special privileges in installation, software logistics, and the ABAP Dictionary. The user master record is created in clients 000 and 001 when you install your R/3 System.
User SAP* is default superuser in SAP System, in the clients 000 and 001. A user master record is defined for SAP* when the system is installed. However, SAP* is programmed in the system and does not require a user master record.
Hope this will help.
