SSL Enablement on ABAP/ JAVA

All,
I am not sure if this is the correct forum -
We are on PI 7.1 EHP1. SSL has to be enabled on this server.
As per Note 510007 (and also - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/49/23501ebf5a1902e10000000a42189c/frameset.htm)
all the steps have been performed.
1. Install the SAP Cryptographic Library on the application server.
2. Set the profile parameters.
3. Create and maintain the SSL Server PSEs as follows:
     a.Create the SSL server PSEs.
b.Generate a certificate request for each SSL server PSE.
c.Send the certificate requests to a CA to be signed.
d.Import the certificate request responses into the server's SSL server PSEs.
e.Maintain the SSL server PSE's certificate list.
We have done this on ABAP stack using - STRUST.
I have tested the https url - and is working.
Question:
1. Where in the configuration - are we telling to use SSL port (say - 50001) against a keypair.
When I am looking at the following doc (NW04):
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a6/98f73dbc570302e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
I see a step - "Assigning the Key Pair to Use for a Specific SSL Port".

If it is CIDX adapter, SSL should be enabled on J2EE. You have to create/install your certificate in NetWeaver Administrator and the public key should be sent to the partner.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f1/2de3be0382df45a398d3f9fb86a36a/content.htm
CSR is created against the server information and the your public key (created in your server). This is then sent to CA.
You can use the same certificate across, however, it is not a recommended practice. Test and Production level certificates must be different.

  • What should be done in certmap.conf for 2-way SSL support from a standalone Java application to an SSL enabled LDAP Server

To support certficate based client authentication using 2-way SSL from a standalone java application which uses JNDI and JSSE1.0.2 to connect to an SSL enabled LDAP Server how do we configure the certmap.conf? Is there any additional setup required at the LDAP Server side apart from enablinf SSL with the option"Required Client Authentication" enabled. The 2 way SSL handshake goes through but the access log file (After configuring the certmap.conf for the issuer DN of the client certficate etc..)shows SSL failed to LDAP DN?But inspite of this access log error the Java client does get an SSL Connection object with which it is able to connect to the LDAP.IS the certmap.conf file being looked up by the LDAP Server at all?

have you out.flush() and out.close() before you call connection.getInputStream()?

  • Web Dispatcher and SSL on ABAP+Java

    Hello,
Have installed SAP web dispatcher on WAS 6.40 ABAP+Java system. Communicating with Portal SP16 system.
The HTTP works fine. Have not been able to get SSL working with web dispatcher.
For troubleshooting activated ITS on this system and HTTPS works fine with ITS webgui.
Have followed the "how to" SSL for web dispatcher guide.
Also should mention that we have generated certificate requests and PSE's but our organization has not yet chosen a certificate authority to sign the cerficates. For other scenarios (log onto Portal, XI, etc) the only difference is the certifcate warning dialog, otherwise works fine.  Would this cause a problem for Web Dispatcher?
Trying the SSL end to end scenario receive
WARNING: Could not start service 0 for protocol HTTPS on host "max-sap" on all adapters
    Is there anything
    unique for the ABAP+Java configuration?
    Thanks,
    Alan

I solved this problem by setting the following profile parameter on my webdispatcher profile.
    wdisp/ssl_ignore_host_mismatch = true
Doesn't fix the underlying problem but got me going until I can figure it out.

  • SSO within an ABAP+JAVA on the same host

    Experts:
We have a dual stack (ABAP+JAVA) NW04s on the same host.
The usage type EP7 is enabled.
From this EP7 we want to access its own ITS thru SSO.
We configured the SSO just like we did for the EP7 + ECC on 2 different hosts.
However, we are always asked for an ID/password when trying to test the SSO from the EP7.
    The error is:
"SSO logon not possible; browser logon ticket cannot be accepted"
    Please advise. Points guaranteed. Thanks!

    hi,
I also tried to do the same, but i think it's not possible.
I read somewhere that SAP recommends to use different instances of ABAP and Java. I installed seperate ABAP and Java instances on the same host and then configured SSO using the Configuration Wizard in NWA configuration. and it works perfectly.
    regards,
    Ankur

  • Whats the difference between ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack and Java stack

    Hello,
I have a nagging doubt about the difference between the ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack & the Java only stack. I believe that the method of applying the kernel for all the 3 types is different.
Also can we apply the ABAP support packs through JSPM.
Please put some light on this.
    Thank you

    Hi Zaheer
    ABAP Stack
AS ABAP is used to provide the ABAP foundation of SAP NetWeaver.
Part of AS ABAP is the Search Engine Service (SES), which enables users to search for
business objects using Search and Classification (TREX). SES accesses Search and
Classification (TREX) functions through the Search and Classification (TREX) ABAP
client. SES replicates the business objects from the ABAP application to Search and
Classification (TREX), so that it can apply Search and Classification (TREX) search
functions to them. When a user enters a search query, the Search and Classification
(TREX) system responds to it, not the database for the ABAP application. For more
information, see the document Installation Guide – SAP NetWeaver TREX Single Hosts /
    Multiple Host.
    Java stack
AS Java is used to provide the Java foundation of SAP NetWeaver. Among the key
    capabilities of AS Java are:
    • J2EE Engine – a J2EE 1.3-compliant application server for running enterprise
applications. In addition to the pure J2EE standard technologies, the J2EE
Engine implements complementary technologies, such as Web Dynpro or Web
Services, that are targeted at supporting large-scale, real-business application
    development projects.
    • SAP Composite Application Framework Core (CAF Core) is a service-oriented
architecture for building and deploying composite applications. It enables
modeling of different service types – entity services that represent a domain
model, application services that implement business logic, and external
services that offer connectivity to back-end services by means of remote
function calls (RFCs) or Web services. Usage type AS Java comprises the CAF
Core runtime environment, while design time tools are part of the SAP
    NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    • Web Dynpro is the user interface technology for developing professional
business applications for mobile as well as for desktop clients. Web Dynpro
applications can easily be integrated into SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal,
providing a unified layout for the end user as well as enhanced navigation
support. Web Dynpro also allows, for example, the development of interactive
forms using the Adobe document services.
    • Adobe document services is a set of runtime services that provide a range of
form and document creation and manipulation functions such as:
    • Converting XML form templates (created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer)
to PDF and various print formats
    • Setting Adobe Reader rights to enable users to fill in and annotate forms,
save and print them locally, and include digital signatures for authentication
using the free Adobe Reader software
Extracting data from SAP applications into Interactive Forms and transferring form data
back into SAP applications using XML
    ABAP + Java Stack
    Contains both functionalities.
    I hope this helps
    Regards
    Chen

  • J2EE_ADMIN has no Port Role in ABAP+JAVA stacks system

    I installed 2004s BI IDES SR2 with ABAP+JAVA on Win 2003 + Oracle, default client 800.
I find the J2EE runs fine, I can log into SDM, configtools. And I can launch
http://host:50000/index and http://host:50000/irj/portal, which mean the portal is up.
    But with http:host:50000/index.html, I can't goto http://host:50000/useradmin, nor http://host:50000/nwa
    The error message is:
    Application cannot be started.
    Details:        com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.ExceptionInfo: Naming error.
with http://host:50000/irj/portal, both j2ee_admin and sap* can log in, but without any portal role. Thus
only logoff link available, and I can't do anything else.
I read through all the related post and can't figure out a way to assign the portal role to j2ee_admin or create additional portal user, anyone can help my situation.
I also can not log into Visual Admin with j2ee_admin, connect error:
    Error while connecting
com.sap.engine.services.jmx.exception.JmxSecurityException: Caller J2EE_ADMIN not authorized, only role administrators is allowed to access JMX
(which I checked sap_j2ee_admin role is green on su01 role tab with correct valid period.)
    what should I do?
    Thanks

    Thanks for prompt reply, Debasis.
Could you please elaborate the steps I need to take? Thanks.
eg. how do I "Assign a user a role that has the permission for the UME action JMX.JmxManageAll"
I don't have any portal tools working properly yet, I don't have useradmin, and I don't have nwa. I don't even have visual admin. Everything I do in ABAP, pfcg, su01, seems have no effect to those portal functionalities.
The fact that I enable emergency sap* from configtool also doesn't make useradmin / nwa work...
    Any idea? Thank you.

  • System Start up issue in my ABAP + JAVA system

    HI,
when i try to start up my SAP (ABAP+JAVA) system, server processes fail to start. Below is the trace file.
Though it says missing file jvmx.jar, not sure if this is the reason for the start up issue.
    Thanks to check and assist.

  • Facing issue when LDAPSync is enabled for OIM-AD integration with SSL enabled

    Hi
We are performing LDAPSync for OIM AD real time sync.We have done all configuration as per oracle documentation on LDAPSync for OIM 11gR2 : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/integration.1112/e27123/oid_oim.htm The OIM environment we tested is the latest OIM version OIM 11gR2 PS1 (11.1.2.1.0).
WE have performed LDAPSync enablement on postinstallation of OIM .So we dont have OVD , we have configured libOVD as mentioned in this doc.
We have performed following  steps mentioned in this document  in our OIM environment.
3.1 Enabling Post installation LDAP Synchronization
3.3 Creating Identity Virtualization Library (libOVD) Adapters and Integrating With Oracle Identity Manager
As attribute like password  might be not getting updated in AD from OIM , we have configured SSL enabled integration in LDAP sync as mentioned in above document.
We implemented this step  3.4.1 Enabling SSL Between Identity Virtualization Library (libOVD) and Microsoft Active Directory,
but here it is not properly mentioned that about how to import public key certificate of AD into OIM envirioment for SSL.
We are getting following error message in logs : Looking at logs it looks like the import of AD SSL certificate did not happen properly in OIM environment. But ,we have imported it using keytool and OVD keystore ...please let us know if we are missing any configuration in this process.Above oracle document is not pretty clear on this.

Use the steps given below to perform import public key certificate of AD into OIM envirioment for SSL
Obtain the AD Certificates from the AD Administrator.
Copy the AD Certificates to the directory /jrockit-jdk1.6.0_20/jre/lib/security
Run the following command to import all the certificates
/jrockit-jdk1.6.0_20/bin/keytool -import -alias <provide_alias> -file <file-name> -keystorecacerts -storepasschangeit
      4. The CA certificates are now present in the trust store.

  • Problems in accessing an SSL enabled site through Weblogic 6.1

    Hi,
We want to connect to an SSL enabled site (https://test.SalesForce.com) through Weblogic 6.1. We are using JDK1.3.1_08 and Apache axis.
We have followed the appropriate steps explained in the URL -
    http://www.pankaj-k.net/WSOverSSL/WSOverSSL-HOWTO.html
As mentioned in the above link, we made the configurations in JDK 1.3.1_08 to put the jsse.jar and other important JARs in jre\lib\ext folder and also updated the java security file to add the proper "Provider".
After that we tried to execute the test application to connect to an SSL site specified in it. It is a stand alone Java application and connects to the site and reads the bytes of the home page and displays them on the console.
When we tried to connect the SalesForce test site, we figured out that we were able to connect to the site and were able to read entire stream of bytes.
Then we copied the same code in a sample JSP, set the JDK1.3.1_06 as the JAVA_HOME for Weblogic6.1 and tried to connect to our test site through that JSP.
We observed that it is connecting to the site but reading just a few initial bytes and not the entire stream.
When we tried the same steps with Weblogic8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X, it works fine and reads the entire page with Weblogic8.1 as client.
So, we observed that the standalone application works fine with JDK1.3.1_08, it also works fine on the the Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_x combination, but when we use Weblogic6.1 and JDK1.3.1_08, it does not work properly.
Is there any setup issue in Weblogic 6.1 regarding connecting to a SSL enabled site?
Our actual problem scenario is a bit different than this, but we are sure that it is related to this situation and a solution to this problem can resolve the actual problem.
Another question we have is do we need to configure SSL in Weblogic 6.1 and also care for installing certificates evenif Weblogic 6.1 in this case is a mere client?
We have tried to connect to the same site using Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X. We did not require any kind of certicates in that case. Hence I want to clear my doubt.
    Please help.

    Hello,
Just wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem. We are suffering just about the exact same issue, where our environment with WebLogic 6.1 SP4 cannot access an SSL enabled site, but our WebLogic 8.1 SP2 upgrade environment can. The only difference we've been able to pinpoint is that our 6.1 server connects via TLS1.0 (SSL3.1) and our 8.1 server connects via SSLv3 (SSL3.0). Does anyone know how to control which version of SSL WebLogic 6.1 uses?

  • Intermittent errors when logging to the Workspace - 9.3.1 - SSL Enabled

    Hi,
We are on 9.3.1 and everything is SSL enabled except Shared Services.
Several times a day, when users log on to the Workspace, they get an "Invalid username or password" error message. They finally get in after 2 or 3 attempts.
Likewise, occasionally, when opening a Financial Report in the workspace users get "BR - Access is denied". After logging back in a couple of times the problem goes away.
All users are affected but randomly.
I have a feeling it could be related to the SSL congifuration.
Has anyone come across this? we are using an F5 http server.
An Oracle consultant suggested making sure that sticky sessions are enabled but we are not sure how to do that.
BI+ has been configured with Tomcat and IIS.
    Thanks for your help.

It depends how you use Weblogic. If it runs as a windows service then I think you should be able to increase the heap size in the Windows registry. Try looking under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Hyperion Solutions -> Hyperion Reports ->HRWebSRV and look for an Xms (Minimum heap size) and Xmx (Max heap size values)
If you start your services via the weblogic console then you will need to log on to the Admin console under the Java section.
The heap size values depend on each environment but as long as you have at least 4GB RAM on your server you should be able to set
    -Xms512m
    -Xmx1024m
Additionally check your SSL config as this was causing us a lot of problems too.
    Hope this helps.

  • SSL Enabling Shared Services and Active Directory

The SSL config guidfe suggests that a valid certificate (CA) must be issue for User directories (MSAD/LDAP), Web and application servers. Is it essential to obtain a CA for for MSAD as well? Can we do without MSAD cert? We have the certs for our Web and App layers ready. We are not sure if the IT department has SSL configured MSAD. If MSAD/LDAP is not SSL configured - can we still go about SSL-Enabling Hyperion? Thanks.
    -- Srini

If your MSAD is set for SSL, you can import their certificates through your Java Application Server. Since you are unsure, I would set up MSAD and if you are able to browse for users on the AD domain in Shared Services, you are good to go.
I must say that SSL is a big pain from my point of view. Unless you are required to encrypt because of the data you have stored, I would pass it up. The certificates often expire on a yearly basis and there are many different certificates to keep track of. Multiply that by Development, Prod, BCP or Recovery server, and you're looking at lots of maintenance.
The big pain comes when the signer certificate for your server expires because after the next reboot or restart of your JVMs, Shared Services starts up but none of the other applications can talk to it which means your whole application is down until you get that certificate fixed. My organization is fairly strict on their controls, so that means that I either make a federal case out of my system being down or I get to wait three days for a change request. Big pain in the rear.

  • ABAP & Java conditional checks

    Hi folks,
I'm running the IDM 7.1 Identity Centre, and when I assign a business role that has an ABAP and a Java privelege in it (And also when I unassign it...) the condition that checks whether the user has any priveleges in the system (and decides whether to delete him or not) seems to fail.
That means my ABAP and Java users both are left in the repository with no roles/groups assigned.
It seems to use the mxpt_check_account Stored procedure, which I've looked at, but cannot figure out why the condition is failing this check, and my users are not getting properly created/deleted.
    Any insight? Thanks im advance!
    Troy Shane

Ok, I think you have it now, except for the exact order of things.
Here's what I face right now:
I assign a Business Role, with those 5 priveleges assigned to it, to my user, Larry.
Larry gets created ok in ABAP and Java, and actually, the roles get assigned just fine there. If i change the role he's assigned to (Manager West, instead of East for example) I see them get updated with no problems (Very smoothly, in fact) in both the ABAP and the Java. For example, if I simulate a promotion for Larry through the IDM User Interface, and assign him a VP role, I see the roles updated properly. (Besides some SPML Date format warnings on the MX_VALIDFROM & MX_VALIDTO, but those I can live with for now.)
However, I still, have two problems:
    1. It seems that NOW...(sorry, different behaviour now than when I first posted this message, due to the recommendations I've implemented) when I remove the Role assignment in IDM, the user's roles get removed properly in the repository systems. Then the tasks to delete the Java and ABAP users run, but they BOTH error out. It seems that the jobs that modify the role/profile assignments for both my ABAP and Java system (Standard SAP Prov Framework tasks - SetJavaRole&GroupForUser & SetJavaRole&GroupForUser ) also effectively deletes the users, because by the time the delete tasks run, the users are no longer there. These tasks throw the errors:
    Pass: DeleteJavaUser
Error in delete: Can not delete object with id SPML.SAPUSER.Larry because Could not delete object as id seems to be invalid SPML.SAPUSER.Larry
    (...makes sense)
    Pass: DeleteABAPUser
    User Larry does not exist
    (...also makes sense)
Ok, admittedly, this one is low impact, and I don't really need to get it fixed, I just want to understand why it is throwing an error...should it really be deleting the users when it first removes the roles, and then checks that there are no more privelege assignments for that system? (When I have 2 priveleges for the same system assigned through roles, it doesn't delete the user, just removes the role, as expected...no errors
Ok, this one is my real issue now (Thanks for reading this far):
    2. I have the role configured as above, including priveleges from all 3 of my repositories (I hit "post" too early above):
    Role = ROLE:BUSINESS:SALES_EAST
    5 Priveleges total :
    - Z_INNOTECH_EAST-Group (JV1)
    - Eastern Region-Group (LABS)
    - Sales-Group (LABS)
    - Z_INNOTECH_SALES_EAST-Role (CR7)
    - Z_INNOTECH_SALES_EAST-Role (JV1)
    JV1 = AS Java 7.01 SP4 (EHP1 SP4)
    CR7  = SAP CRM ABAP 7.01 SP2
    LABS = Active Directory OU
The ABAP & Java tasks faithfully fire now, every time I assign or unassign a Business role to my user Larry. (Yay!)
There are also 2 AD groups (privelege) assigned to Larry through the role: Eastern Region group and Sales Group.
There is also an inherited "Employee" Business Role, which has the AD "Employees" Group - for base employee access.
The idea is that, a member of the Eastern Region Sales group would automatically be an Employee, so it is a Child Role of most of my major roles.
When I assign this Business Role, the Active Directory tasks very rarely and very inconsistently fire...I am watching th results in the Job Log and also through my AD tools...
I am using IDM 7.1 SP2 (Patched on Monday past)
Using individual tasks through the IDM UI, I can create Users, and enable them...but the Provisioning seems not to work. I have the tasks set properly in the Repository definition and am using the SAP delivered ones (I have tried using modified copies with limited success, and am now back to basics) This proves it isn't the repository definition, or permissions on the repository. I'm always using the same Administrative user to assign/unassign these users, so now I'm stumped!
Phew, ok that's enough for now...I'll post more error messages once I've investigated the AccountRepoName that you suggest...I haven't seen that Attribute and don't know if it is defined here.
    TIA (and so far...),
    Troy
(Ok...how come I don't have any line returns in my message?)

  • Steps to make iPlanet SSL enabled-URGENT

    Hi
I want to know how to make iPlanet server SSL enabled . I have already installed the server certificate on the iplanet . Is there anything else i need to do to access a servlet on iplanet thru Https .Basically what are the next steps involved after installing certifictae in iPlanet ?
I tried accessing the servlet thru a sample java client ...it gives me Malformed URL Exception .
As far as i know there wouldnt be any code change inside the servlet to make it Https Enabled..
Can someone help me ....Pls let me know....This is URGENT ..
    Thanks
    varahan

After you successfully installed the server certificate you only need to set encryption to "on" in the preferences tab (iPlanet 4.1 or earlier). No other changes are necessary.
Did your sample Java client also talk "https"?

  • Web Dispatcher configuration (ABAP+Java vs. ABAP+Portal)

We are using an internal Web Dispatcher to allow the connections from different networks.
This Webdispatcher entry we add to WAS configuration within Portal system object
By defintion of ABAP+Java double stack we do not have any problems and the test
    http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping is successful.
When we have a ABAP system + Portal (Java) we only can test the connection
    http://webpispatcher:port/
    When we execute the test
http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping we get an error, because the url goes to Java stack.
We also detected that on Web Dispatcher configuration for ABAP+Java we have ABAP and J2EE server groups and  application servers.
For ABAP+Portal we have only J2EE groups on Web Dispatcher configuration.
    Question:
Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?

Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?
In ABAP the logon group is handled by the ICF. In SICF you specify within the actual services(properties) which logon group that service should use for load balancing. As far as I remember though there is an exception if you are using an "end-to-end" ssl configuration where you can specify the destination logon group using wdisp/HTTPS/dest_logon_group parameter.
rdisp/mshost is the parameter on your web dispatcher that points to your message server to get a list of available logon groups.
