SSMS hangs when SSAS role dimension data security is accessed

In the last two weeks, when we try to access the dimension data tab of an SSAS security role properties through SSMS the application hangs. It cannot bring up the dimension members. The error detail just says ProblemEventName: AppHangB1
and the version and operating system and some hex locations.
This does not happen in Visual Studio (BIDS) only in SSMS. The only choices available once the application hangs are to wait (but nothing ever happens to end the wait) or to close the program (or search for a solution and restart) which of course
closes SSMS.
I have tried reprocessing all the dimensions but that does not fix the issue.

According to your description, when you access dimension data in SSMS via a user under security role, it can't bring the members and hang with ProblemEventName: AppHangB1 error thrown. Right?
In this scenario, since the security role works in BIDS, there should no issue on the dimension itself. Based on the error message, it's more like a compatibility issue on SSMS. Firstly please make sure your SSMS is compatible with your operation
system.
This issue can happen when your computer has more than 32 processors. You can start the SSMS using only one processor through command prompt:
start /affinity 0x00000001 C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe
Also this issue has been fixed in the KB below, please repair your .NET Framework and apply the hot fix:

If the issue still persists, please uninstall and reinstall the SSMS(compatible with your OS).

I've got a loop in my code that uses a TCP read function. My problem is that the loop hangs if there is no data available. What I would like to do is check if there is data available, then do the read otherwise move on to the rest of the code if no data is available and then try again on the next loop.

In addition to using a non-standard timeout, such as 100ms or so, one can also play with the Read Mode input of the TCP Read. Those modes are a bit pesky and not always trivial to understand but they can be useful. Read the documentation to the TCP Read function that explains these modes a bit and then start to make small experiments to verify your understanding of those operations.

Upgrading from iPhoto 6 to 11 but computer hangs when writing new library data

It writes most of the data but when 2/3 done it hangs with beach ball. My 5k+ photos are on an external USB 2 1Tb hard drive. I have restarted and quit all running apps. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks...

SAP BOBI 4.0: Data Security Profile Issue

Consider the below scenario :
We have two environments(SAP BOBI 4.0): Dev and Prod
Schemas used are test and testABC in DEV and Prod respectively. And structure (table
names and column names) inside both the schemas is same.
We have created several data security profiles in Dev
environment. So now when we migrate via Promotion Management, the universe from Dev to Prod, “data
security profiles” also gets migrated.
So once migrated we change schema name from test to testABC
in data foundation layer which makes our dfx to point to testABC schema in
Prod.
Once above process is done when we go to data security
profiles, table names gets changed from test to testABC But inside WHERE
Clause, schema name is still test it doesn’t gets changed to testABC.
Now question is :
Is there any way so that schema name inside
WHERE Clause should get changed automatically from test to testABC?
Is there any way we can restrict Data Security
profiles to get migrated when we are migrating the universe?

What is your data source? Did you try to edit the security profile in where clause?

Is this to be done through forms development , or any environmental setups required?

you can define your user level on oracle form,but these user only work on form level not on database level direct,you can make a proper setup form or role form to provide access to different user but you must mentioned these security on each transactional form.You also make a global procedure as security which maintain security only on form.Hope it'll helpful for you.

Retrieving data from Microsoft Access using JDBC

I noticed that when i tried retrieving data from Microsoft access using JDBC, I realised that it was throwing SQLException when the column names were two word with spaces between them, e.g. Date Birth. But after i removed the space from the column names, my SQL queries were retrieving data. Was it because of the space in between the column names of the table?

Yeah, as far as I know having two word column names isn't allowed in SQL. There might be some way to escape it, but generally it's sensible to avoid it.

BPC Office Client : No data retrieval when using static dimensions

We have used static dimensions to build reports / input schedules, but the data range remains empty when refreshing the workbook after the column - and row key ranges have been filled. There is definitely data in the application for the combination of the current view members and range members chosen. I have put 3 dimensions in the row key range and 4 dimensions in the column key range.
What are the common solutions for this problem ? I don't receive any errors while refreshing the workbook.

Have you checked security member access profiles to know that the user has access to that slice of data?
You might also double-check your data in BW by running the Shared Query Engine test program UJQ_SQE_TEST from transaction SA38 or SE38. Just select your AppSet and Application, along with matching in the filters the static members you've set in your report.
If you still have issue, try to replicate the issue with a delivered template report and confirm no data is shown.
Otherwise, please create a customer [message|http://service.sap.com/message] in the SAP Service Marketplace and report your issue as a potential bug. To expedite a solution it would be helpful if you detail the steps exactly for the Support team to recreate, verify and troubleshoot the problem.

According to your description, you want to sort the dimension member in descending order. Right?
In this scenario, we can use Order() function in our MDX query. please refer query below:

Receiving an error when trying to remove P00 Security role from the user

I am receiving an error when trying to remove P00 Security role from the user.
After logging on to GRC CUP, clicking on u201CCreate requestu201D, and filling out required information,
I click on Select Roles/Groups
On the next screen,
I click on Existing Roles/Groups
ERROR MESSAGE appears X Action failed and no roles appear in the box to select for removal.

Try this
in Applicaiton Area -- Select ALL
Functional Area -
Select ALL
Company -
Select ALL
Role/Profile/Group Names --- Give p00* and execute the report
if you give only p00 it wont give any result

I suspect that the database environment believes that another process has the database open for writing. This cannot be the case, however, as all applications that access the database do so via an interface library I wrote that registers a termination function via the atexit() system-call to ensure that both the DB and DB_ENV handles are properly closed -- and all previously-executed applications terminated normally.

That can't be it. I'm using a structured programming style in which the successful initialization of a cursor is ultimately followed by a closing of the cursor. There's only one place where the code does this and it's obvious that the cursor gets released.
I've also read the CDB section.

Server Dell, Windows 2003 server and MS SQL 2005 sp3 STD. clients Win XP. My customer have 30 files for sent to Sap B1 per day. When we are sent data by DTW to Sap B1 some time TOA hang, need to restart TOA Services and License Manager . some time need to restart Server. Pls help us.
