Stacked FWSM capabilities

Hello,
According to the cisco documentation you can stack up to 4 FWSMs in one chassis. The document says that the bandwidth will increase however it says nothing about the maximum number of concurrent connections. One FWSM is suposed to handle 1 million concurrent connections and my question is if 2 stacked FWSMs would be able to handle then 2 million connections.
Regards
Carol

The app is in beta and we're not allowed comment. That's standard policy. What you can glean from reading around the web is the same that we can. My read on what I've seen: It's a step-up for iPhoto uses but for Pro users it's time to look elsewhere. It's not a robust Pro tool.

  • WS Adapter(PI 7.1) vs SOAManager? PI 7.4 Single Stack capabilities for WS-RM

    Hi Experts,
The dual-stack SAP PI came with WS Adapter had the Direct communication capabilities between 2 ERP systems skipping IE, which made the communication fast and also gave the additional monitoring capabilities of PI to the communication.
With SAP PI 7.4, we do not have WS Adapter. Is this a set back? or Was it unnecessary looking at the existence of SOAManager configuraitons?
Can anyone some points on WS Adapter vs SOAMANAGER for WS-RM configurations/direct communication between 2 ERP systems?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vikas Kumar Singh

    (a) I am under the impression that WS -RM adapter used for Web services cannot be used in asynchronous scenarios. Am I correct?
Actually WS adapter only supports Asynchronous communication (EO/ EOIO)
    (b) If WS-RM Adapter can be used for asynchronous scenarios, how do we do it?
The corresponding Service Interface (in your case sender) should be having mode as Asynchronous
    (c) Since I assume that WSRM Adapter cannot be used for asynchronous scenarios, if I use the scenario WSRM - IDOC
(asynchronous) adapter, then I have to use BPM (Sync-Async communication). Am I correct to believe that WSRM -IDOC
integration is not possible without BPM?
    (d) In case WSRM-IDOC integration is ONLY possible with BPM, is WS-RM --- ABAP Proxy better than WS-RM -- IDOC integration?
    NA
    Update:
To confirm what I said refer the QoS column for WS adapter in the table over here:

  • Preventing Windoze Servers IPv6 Stack From Coming Up Behind FWSM

    Hello,
We recently noticed that a sysadmin brought up a Server 2008 box behind one of our firewalls and was able to RDP to the box though we have rules explicity blocking RDP.
Further investigation discovered that the connection was through protocol 41 (ipv6) and that the sysadmin's desktop was Windoze 7 and both it and the 2008 box had their ipv6 stack enabled against our best practices.
Our network is (sort of) ipv6 enabled but there still is no addressing plan nor do I have the near term cycles to translate all my firewall rules from v4 to v6.
It appears that the server got a valid v6 address through stateless autoconfig even though v6 is not enabled on the FWSM it appears to be allowing the Router Solicitations (RS) out and the Router Advertizements (RA) back in which allows the box to autoconfig.
How can I prevent misconfigured systems in the future from getting autoconfig addresses.  My understanding is even if the autoconfig fails and it fails back to a link local address it still may be able to use a Teredo tunnel.
We have blocked protocol 41 explicity on all the interfaces which will drop a lot of the tunneling (back home to Redmond) but we want to ensure that autoconfig fails so the box just gives up on preffing v6 or tunneled interfaces and fails down to v4.  We have observed with a half baked v6 connection the clients have to wait for v6 attempts to time out resulting in complaints that the network or server is slow.
Yes, I know - spank the sysadmin and get them to follow process is one solution as is enabling v6 of the FWSM then dropping all the traffic but I'm looking for a stopgap.
"ipv6 nd suppress" on the cat6500 "outside" vlan does not work as the IOS we are running does not support the "all" keyword so RAs are dropped but those in response to a RS aren't.

  • Whats the difference between ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack and Java stack

    Hello,
I have a nagging doubt about the difference between the ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack & the Java only stack. I believe that the method of applying the kernel for all the 3 types is different.
Also can we apply the ABAP support packs through JSPM.
Please put some light on this.
    Thank you

    Hi Zaheer
    ABAP Stack
AS ABAP is used to provide the ABAP foundation of SAP NetWeaver.
Part of AS ABAP is the Search Engine Service (SES), which enables users to search for
business objects using Search and Classification (TREX). SES accesses Search and
Classification (TREX) functions through the Search and Classification (TREX) ABAP
client. SES replicates the business objects from the ABAP application to Search and
Classification (TREX), so that it can apply Search and Classification (TREX) search
functions to them. When a user enters a search query, the Search and Classification
(TREX) system responds to it, not the database for the ABAP application. For more
information, see the document Installation Guide – SAP NetWeaver TREX Single Hosts /
    Multiple Host.
    Java stack
AS Java is used to provide the Java foundation of SAP NetWeaver. Among the key
    capabilities of AS Java are:
    • J2EE Engine – a J2EE 1.3-compliant application server for running enterprise
applications. In addition to the pure J2EE standard technologies, the J2EE
Engine implements complementary technologies, such as Web Dynpro or Web
Services, that are targeted at supporting large-scale, real-business application
    development projects.
    • SAP Composite Application Framework Core (CAF Core) is a service-oriented
architecture for building and deploying composite applications. It enables
modeling of different service types – entity services that represent a domain
model, application services that implement business logic, and external
services that offer connectivity to back-end services by means of remote
function calls (RFCs) or Web services. Usage type AS Java comprises the CAF
Core runtime environment, while design time tools are part of the SAP
    NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    • Web Dynpro is the user interface technology for developing professional
business applications for mobile as well as for desktop clients. Web Dynpro
applications can easily be integrated into SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal,
providing a unified layout for the end user as well as enhanced navigation
support. Web Dynpro also allows, for example, the development of interactive
forms using the Adobe document services.
    • Adobe document services is a set of runtime services that provide a range of
form and document creation and manipulation functions such as:
    • Converting XML form templates (created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer)
to PDF and various print formats
    • Setting Adobe Reader rights to enable users to fill in and annotate forms,
save and print them locally, and include digital signatures for authentication
using the free Adobe Reader software
Extracting data from SAP applications into Interactive Forms and transferring form data
back into SAP applications using XML
    ABAP + Java Stack
    Contains both functionalities.
    I hope this helps
    Regards
    Chen

  • Capabilities of Photos App and Aperture

I see a lot of discussion about the new Photos app as being a replacement for Aperture, but most of these discussions seem to ignore many of the key capabilities which make Aperture important to many professionals. And the idea that many of these have been removed but will reappear sometime in the future is ridiculous--nobody could run a business using a tool like that. Are you supposed to go out of business until the time in the future when Apple reintroduces the feature you depended on?
I'm also a little skeptical about how "modern" the app is and what a "streamlined interface" it has if it lacks many key features that already existed in the present software and which professional photographers and heavy Aperture users counted on. It's easy to "streamline" an interface if you just remove functionality. What many of the "reviewers" do not seem to understand is that it could take a year of more of heavy work to reconstruct an existing Aperture library with all that it contains because it is not just a hierarchical collection of pictures with keywords.
If you've been looking at Photos, maybe you can fill in some of the gaps in knowledge of features.
--Will Photos retain the edits of Photos in an Aperture library? Pros may have tens of thousands of photos (or more) with edits done over the past 8 years. Suggesting all of these need to be redone is kind of ridiculous. And why would any photographer ever trust an Apple product again if a corporate move resulted in that!
--If some "tools" are missing, then all of them might as well be missing as far as importing an Aperture library since you wouldn't really know which of your tens of thousands of pictures which had been edited were affected. You couldn't trust the "versions" in your library as some would be missing some of the edits. Is there a list of which "tools" are missing? Almost all of them are pretty heavily used by large numbers of people.
--I hear that the "Curves" tool is missing. What? This is one of the most heavily used tools of all, and one that was added to Aperture because of popular demand. What happens to all the edits done with the Curves tool? Do they disappear, making the library of edits useless? What possible reason would there be for removing something that important?
--Does Photos feature a Web journal which allows collections of photos to be output as Web pages to be shared with clients or others?
--Can I exports groups of files in any size and format (RAW, jpeg, TIFF, PNG., etc.)? You have to be able to do this for the product to be of any use to a professional at all.
--Can I take advantage of multiple monitors to do things like show sets of photos and controls on one monitor and a full-screen image on the other?
--I've hear the flags feature is gone. Why? What happens to all the images I've flagged through the years for one reason or another? Are pros supposed to go through 100,000 images they have stored in their library and flag them all again?
--I've heard that "Stacks" is missing. For professional sports photographers, that is essential. You take bursts of images, you want them stacked on import so it's easy to pick the best from a burst and quickly get rid of the best. Why on earth would this be removed? It was one of the key selling points in early Aperture marketing and a heavily used feature.
--Does the new app show the focus points, hot and cold areas, etc. on the pictures if so desired?
--What happens to books, smart albums, Web journals, projects, folder, albums, etc. One heck of a lot of time has gone in to creating all of these.
--Can I search using any metadata, keyword, etc.?
--Can I customize my display to see the metadata I want in a particular situation. I certainly don't want to see all of it, but there are key fields which may be especially important.
--How long would it take to "import" an Aperture library of, say, 500 gigabytes, into Photos? Would this would require another storage medium to store the new library as well as the old? I'm a little wary here, as the Aperture to Aperture 3 upgrade took 24 hours or more for many people.
--Is iCloud storage of photos really practical for professionals who may have libraries of a terabyte or more? How exactly would all of this information migrate into the cloud? Who's got the bandwith for that?
Anyone who could do a proper comparison of Aperture and Photos, from the perspective of a sophisticated Aperture, and not just gush about how it's an improvement on iPhoto, would be much appreciated. I haven't been able to figure much out from what I've seen so far.

The app is in beta and we're not allowed comment. That's standard policy. What you can glean from reading around the web is the same that we can. My read on what I've seen: It's a step-up for iPhoto uses but for Pro users it's time to look elsewhere. It's not a robust Pro tool.

  • ERP 2005 application server on Solaris 10 T2000 ABAP & Java stacks

We are interested to know if there are any companies running Sun T2000 servers, Solaris 10, in the application layer for both ABAP & Java stacks.  If so, how are they performing?
    Regards,
    Cheryl Siebert.

We just had several technical discussions with SAP regarding their new server technology and Solaris 10 capabilities.  They told us that the T2000 works well for web application servers (e.g., Enterprise Portal).  They are optimized for Java.  They don't do well as R/3 application servers.  They recommended using V240s or v40z's as R/3 app servers (you could also explore using X86 servers running either Linux or Solaris).  We are also exploring the potential of using the M5000 as a DB server to reduce the cost of our Oracle licenses (we are not using the runtime Oracle licenses from Sun - don't ask).

  • Question about stacked objects using blend modes

Say there are three stacked objects. The two topmost have a blend mode.
In the area where all 3 intersect, the bottom object interacts with the transparency. Is there a way to limit how many levels the transparency affects? If you could limit it to two levels, then in the area where all three intersect the bottom object wouldn't participate in the blending. But in the areas where it overlaps only one of the topmost objects, it would participate.
I know this can be achieved by creating another object, or using the Pathfinder, I'd just like to know if there is a simpler method to use.

The attached PDF explains this better. Page 1 - the yellow and magenta are multiplied on top. But the cyan in not participating in the area where all 3 overlap. But in the areas with only 2 levels, it does participate, so there are the green and blue overlaps.
Since the cyan is negated from the one area, the result is red – yellow and magenta multiplying
The problem is, the only way to get this is to punch a hole in the cyan. So when you move the yellow and magenta around, the red doesn't follow (see page 2)
It would be nice if the blend modes included some sort of level limit. Default would be unlimited, but you could change it to 2 or whatever number you want. In this case if the level was 2, no hole in the cyan would be required.
As far as I know Adobe has not added to transparency capabilities for a long time. You have the 16 bend modes, and opacities. And knock out group and isolate blending, which are good features. But maybe it's time to expand on this and add more points of control.

  • Use of ABAP Stack

Can you please let me know what is ABAP Stack

    Fundamentals
    Summary
A comprehensive integration and application platform, SAP NetWeaver™ heralds a new approach to IT development and applications. It brings together the disparate worlds of packaged applications and custom development in a single ecosystem, in which enterprise applications as we know them become the building blocks of a new generation of service-oriented applications.
Custom development with SAP NetWeaver™ is about the very latest in application development practices. Efficiency and flexibility are the watchwords. Application development is based on the model-driven paradigm – as little coding as possible, paired with maximum application robustness and flexibility with regard to front-ends. It is about visual, pattern-based programming that still offers complete control for the power developer.
    By SAP AG
    23 May 2007
    Architectural Background
SAP NetWeaver is based on a dual-stack architecture based on ABAP and Java. While ABAP has been with SAP for years and provides a robust and scalable development and runtime environment for any type of business programming, Java is based on open standards and leverages SAP NetWeaver to the broad community of Java developers. In a service-oriented environment, however, the programming language boundaries disappear, since components written in one language (for example, ABAP) can expose their capabilities as services that are consumed by components written in another language (for example, Java). The interoperability is achieved through Web services standards that have been implemented for both stacks. Likewise, SAP’s user interface strategy is built on top of the Web Dynpro programming model that is supported seamlessly both in the Java and in the ABAP space.
The question of which environment you should use when depends on a couple of criteria that have to be weighed up carefully.
ABAP’s strength lies in its proven application server architecture. The language is based on a strong integration of OPEN SQL and manages large data sets known as internal tables. This allows use of ABAP in transaction-oriented environments with good performance. The development environment (ABAP Workbench) is tightly integrated in the application server. Since ABAP is essentially a server-based development infrastructure, work in large development teams is organized by means of the correction and transport system in a distributed development landscape. ABAP supports a variety of data types that are optimized for business processes. Many important engines of SAP NetWeaver such as the BI OLAP engine or the XI integration engine are implemented in ABAP.
Java focuses more on the user interface side although more and more applications make use of the entire Java stack from user interface through business logic to persistence. Many of the ABAP scalability features have been adapted for the Java stack, such as the proven scalability using a J2EE dispatcher and J2EE server nodes (that correspond to the ABAP dispatcher and work processes). The NetWeaver Development Infrastructure organizes distributed development in teams by means of a central repository and build and transportation services similar in philosophy to ABAP’s change and transport system. However, there are subtle differences that have to be taken into account. Java development is carried out on the client side in the NetWeaver Developer Studio. A local J2EE engine makes it easy for Java developers to work offline and later integrate their work in a central test system. Sources are checked out locally so that you only need to connect from time to time to the development infrastructure. SAP has implemented a lot of SAP NetWeaver components in Java, such as the J2EE server itself, the Portal, and the Developer Studio to name just a few.
ABAP and Java are code-based environments. Although they offer model-driven and highly-graphical tools such as the Web Dynpro View Designer or the Web Dynpro Data Modeler you end up in editor and debugger sessions, since most of the developer’s work has to be done here.
Finally, it is important to note that SAP NetWeaver is in transition from an integration platform to a composition and business process platform.
Composite applications can be developed on top of SAP NetWeaver and are supported by the composite application framework (CAF) and Guided Procedures.
Both technologies accelerate composition on top of SAP NetWeaver, but are integrated in the Developer Studio and leverage existing technologies such as Web Dynpro and Adobe Forms integration.
    Regards
    Ben

  • [OSB and OWSM] - External Web service stacks and frameworks

Hi everyone ! I'm starting to read about OSB and OWSM and I'm having some doubts. I've some developments of Web services with external Stacks like CXF, JBossWS, Metro and I'd like to ask some questions:
1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?
2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?
3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?
I suppose that if I ignore the JAX-WS stack from Weblogic and use an external framework (like CXF) I'll lose most of the application server administration capabilities since the Weblogic server won't be able to recognize the CXF stack as it does with its own. But, the main doubt I'm in is, since OSB and OWSM might be used with external providers I probably won't need to develop my web services using the Weblogic implementation (which my team does not yet know) since there will be no features of the OSB and OWSM which can only be used with the Weblogic's stack. I would like, please, to know your oppinions about these considerations. Sorry about the long post and possible errors (I just started learning).
    Thank you!

    Hi Lupan,
I can speak mostly to OWSM as my experience with OSB is small thus far.
+1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?+
OWSM (10gR3) has two types of policy enforcement point (PEP) -- Gateway and Agent. The Gateway acts as a remote proxy and is neutral to the service implementation technology as long as it adheres to SOAP 1.1. In this regard you can use OWSM freely with CXF, MS implementations, etc. Agents run in-process with the service and thus have far greater restrictions on what service implementation frameworks and containers that are supported. There is some certification for AXIS 1.x running in OAS and Tomcat; but practically speaking, my recommendation for Agents is to only use within OAS 10gR3 where it is built in (and using OC4J Web Services through JAX-RPC).
OWSM 11gR1 initially supports only agent-style (in process) PEP and is built-in to Fusion Middleware and WLS. It is only for Fusion and WLS Web Service implementations.
OWSM is quite full-featured for WS-*.
+2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?+
"No" if using OWSM Gateway PEP. A qualified "Yes" if using OWSM Agent PEP.
+3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?+
There is the manageability that you mention, but also there is the identity propagation scenario and tight security integration. Both OAS and WLS hosted services in the native stacks (JAX-RPC and JAX-WS) allow sophisticated and secure passing of identity in the request -- for instance, via SAML Assertions in the WS-Sec header -- and built-in capabilities to map the passed identity into the running service's Subject (i.e. enabling JAAS security etc.).
In my experience this type of identity propagation functionality has either been absent or less complete in other typical implementation frameworks not closely aligned with the container security mechanisms.
    Hope this helps,
    Todd

  • Third party tools to extend Webi graphic capabilities

    All,
Is any one aware or uses any good third party plug-ins to extend webi charts/graphic capabilities?
We are looking for a plug-in that will help us extend webi charting or in general report formatting capabilities.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards

Webi currently has limited charting options. For e.g: You cannot have a stacked vertical chart with a line chart.
    I did come across
    http://www.threedgraphics.com
i haven't got a chance to check it out. I am basically looking for more such third-party options.

  • I have Lightroom 5 and am trying to create some HDR Images for my Real Estate Business. I do not have the option to even be able to stack my photos. My headings are: Lightroom- File-Edit-Window-Help. Why does it not give me the option to be able to Stack?

Can i stack JPEG images or do they have to be Raw Files? The other help videos I have seen have the shortcut CommandG to stack, mine does not respond that command nor do i have a heading labeled Photos.

In order to stack images they must be all highlighted as a group. And the group must be contiguous, in other words next to each other. However, if you are talking about stacking images for the purposes of creating an HDR image, that cannot be done using Lightroom. You will need Photoshop or some other software with HDR capabilities in order to do that. It is possible to stack any file type or combination of file types, including  virtual copies.

  • Defining new Keywords for the PrinterExtensionSample Capabilities/Ticket

I'm working on a v4 printer driver and I am trying to find a way to define my custom features and options in a namespace so that the Print Schema can write them correctly to the Print Capabilities and Print Ticket xml docs. I haven't been able to find
any help with this as the Print Schema Specification and all the msdn documentation merely states that I can define a namespace. Any direction or examples of namespaces that could shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply. We are in process of building a new login stack and implement.
I have one more query to you.
I have created a SAP transaction iVIew(PZ03) in the portal. Here, the "SAP GUI Type" is "SAP GUI for HTML". ie we are using ITS to go to SAP backend.
I can see the transaction in the portal. But when I click on any selection text (F4) I don't get the list of data.
For example, when I click on "Valid From" to select the date from the calendar, the calendar doesn't open. It still remains in the same page. But when I see the "Status Bar" in the internet explorer i can see the okcode as "?".
Any idea on how to make popup working in this scenario.
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sathya

netfilter is a set of hooks inside the Linux kernel that allows kernel modules to register callback functions with the network stack. A registered callback function is then called back for every packet that traverses the respective hook within the network stack.
iptables is a generic table structure for the definition of rulesets. Each rule within an IP table consists out of a number of classifiers (iptables matches) and one connected action (iptables target).
netfilter, iptables and the connection tracking as well as the NAT subsystem together build the whole framework.
