Starnge iGrid problem in xMII 11.5

Hi All,
I am getting one strange issue while displaying Data in iGrid.
I have a query which has few columns. One of the columns has alias and Alias ! character in as one of the characters ( eg !num).
When i execute such query in Query template ! gets replaced with _ and results are getting generated correctly.
eg column name !num gets replaced as _num.
But when i Map same query to iGrid and check the output above mentioned columns gives value as --- for all the rows retrieved.
is this there any solution to this?
I am using xMII 11.5 and I hope this is not xMII Display template problem.
Please guide me on same.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Shalaka

Hi shalaka,
I would suspect that you are using a reserved character (in xml) and the underlying engine is doing the substitution to prevent the xml from failing.  The same action occurs with tagnames which have a numeric character in the first position.  The underscore "_" is prepended to the tagname.  The exclamation point (or bang) is used as a logical NOT by xml and really should not be used for aliases or other programmatic names.  It is 1) not a good practice and 2) going to cause you problems (and most likely be at an inconvenient time.).
Hope this helps,
Mike

A try to access the xMII URL shows me the following error:

Which package do I have to download and install in order to get xMII running again?

Found a solution for myself. In the install guide for xMII 12 it was mentioned, that at least SPS 11 for Netweaver is needed. To use 12.0.3 you need a newer one. I use SPS 15 now and it works!

  • Problems in xMII 11.5 SR3 instllation

    Dear all,
We have just finished installing xMII 11.5 Sr 3( we installed sequentially sr1, 2,3 ).
We have done installation as per the installtion guide.
we have done couple of tests as per gudielines in earlier threads and services "IISAdmin" and "WorldWideWebpublishing" are running .
When tried to open the file Menu.irpt, it contains reference to the path "C:\Lighthammer\Admin\Admin.css".
However, the directory Admin does not exist in Lighthammer directory.
Please help in this, as we are stuck up.
    Thank you in advance .

You should not be very concerned with Menu.irpt & Admin.css (as a matter of fact if the installation has no issues you don't even need to open up these values , unless ofcourse you are adventurous and the inquisitive types!).
All you need to check is if http://<server>/Lighthammer OR http://<server>/Lighthammer/Menu.jsp , works or not.
Now that you have upgraded java, to Poul's point , check the SAP note on Java version upgrade.
Also it is a good practice to check cms.log (/Lighthammer/Logs) to look for any start up errors.

The easiest way is to make a link in the xMII portal for your page this way it's available when you login into xMII.
To do this please follow this:
    From the xMII portal:
    click..."Portal Services" menu item
click..."Navigation" submenu item...a new screen will come up
From the "Navigation" popup select the role you would like the page available for....if it's for testing just pick "Everyone" to make it easy.
In the first pane called "Navigation Tree" you can create your menu strucutre or simply enter the link directly.
Click "Add" in the "Navigation Tree" pane....a popup will come up.
Enter the name for your page
Click the "...Files" button and navigate and select your page from the webroot.
    Click "OK"....click "SAVE"
Go back to the main portal page and click the "Refresh" link at the top right of the xMII portal page.
Your new page link will appear in the left navigation tree.
    I hope this helps....
For future references it's also useful to check out the xMII Help @

    Hi Rahul,
What's the error you are getting?
Just as a sugesstion you need to fill up the fields in the structure I_RIQS5 and the import parameter I_COMMIT at the minimum to create a Maintenance notification in ERP. The other fields which you are not filling up assign <RemoveXML> in the BLS link editor.

  • SQL Server 2000 problem with MII Version 12.1.8 Build(24) Reconnecting

    Hi,
I have a problem using XMII Version 12.1.8 Build(24) with com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver JDBC driver with SQL 2000.
The problem we have is the machine where the SQL server is installed on reboot as per schedule once a week. When the server comes back online, XMII  seems to get problem to reconnect correctly. Sometimes it reconnects perfectly, sometimes not.
When it fails, the only way to fix the problem is to uncheck the 'Enabled' checkbox, then save the data server, then check the 'Enabled' checkbox, then save again.
When the reconnect issue happens, uploading messages to SAP fail 100% of time, but downloading Control Recipes  from SAP works 50% of time. For example, some PO's can be processed correctly, some others not, causing data losses due to poor data buffering(buffering doesn't cover connection time out). The failed PO's are marked as 'Sent' into CO53 SAP transaction but in fact, are lost in a hole causing data losses.
See the error we get atfer the server reboot:
Unable to get a connection from the pool
    [EXCEPTION]
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host VANASR70, port 1433 has failed. Error: "connect timed out. Verify the connection properties, check that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting... [see details]
Cannot create a connection to the database
    [EXCEPTION]

The only way we have thought to workaround this problem is to develop our own buffering method into XMII workbench puting all data received from SAP or SQL insert query into an Oracle temp database. We should probably be able to fix this by this way, but it reprensents many costs and efforts, so we try to avoid this for sure.
Please, if you can provide us a patches or hints about how to fix this, it could be very appreciated because loosing data is very anoying.
    Thanks a lot!

The validation query is in place and the system works very well 99% of the time.
When the SQL server machine reboot each sunday morning, during the time the machine is rebooting, the data server lose the connection which is normal, but when the machine comes back alive(less then 10 minutes), the data server seems to stay in an 'in-between' state showing the connection status 'Running' but showing also error messages posted in the orginial post in Netweaver logs. So at first look the data server is up and running and reconnected to SQL server after the reboot, but in fact, following these errors after the SQL server machine has rebooted, some data are processed correctly from SAP (Control Recipes) and some not.
The problems looks like very similar to threadID 1596329.
Here is the data server configuration for all our 5 data servers:

    ConnectorID
    ConnectorType SQL

  • XMII Server crashes when BLS is executed

    Hi,
We are facing a problem in xMII server. From xmii server we are calling a RFM which returns a dataset of around 50 thousand to 100 thousand. When the bls is executed from the http runner then the server is crashed. But it runs properly for smaller dataset. So can anybody give information about the threshold value of data set which xmii can handle. And how to overcome this situation.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Soumen Mondal

    Hi,
For huge dataset you will get this problem.Fisrt check no other transactions should not run during the sametime because this is a big transaction and consuming lots of memory space.
You need to check how much memory your all transactions and whole application is consuming. If it exceeds the RAM then system will be hanged.
    Thanks,

  • XMII call to XI robustness

    Hi all,
we have a scenario where xMII will communicate with XI, probably using 'HTTP XI' action or 'Web Service XI'.
How can a robust communication mechanism can be implemented? I mean, we would like to assure that the message arrives to XI with 'exactly once' Quality of Service (I don't know now if the order is also important). If there's a communication problem between xMII and XI (e.g a broken network link) xMII should resubmit the message to XI.
How can we design such a solution? I've seen that xMII 12 provides buffering services, but I don't know if this feature is somehow applicable in this scenario.
Can someone provide some hints and suggestions?
Thank you, your help is really appreciated.
    Mauro

    Mauro,
It also does not have to be a table in a database.  You could save the messages as xml files on the Web side of xMII.  Perhaps have a folder or several under a project named MessageQueue or similar, which would hold the messages.  Since the contents of those folders are actually in the NW database, you would get database reliability and administrative controls along with close availability from within MII.  You could have different folders for unprocessed, completed, retry, fatalError, etc. to contain each message.  If you don't have much volume, that would work for your purposes.
You could also do the same with actually saving the files in an external file folder structure, but why not do it inside MII.
My real preference would be an outside database as Sara mentioned.  But sometimes they are not available (or authorized).
    Good luck,
    Mike

  • Siemens - Simantic IT Unilab / SAP Integration / xMII

    Hi all,
Any experience in conducting integration between Simantic IT Unilab (LIMS) and SAP R/3 using xMII?
Simantict IT offers connectors to achieve such integration with SAP R/3 by XI pathway. But we found this as an opportunity to explore xMII. I would appreciate any comments or suggestion in this particular.
    Thanks

    Tony,
I haven't personally seen or done interfaces to Unilab, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done, and according to: http://www.cubetechnologies.com.au/Contents/sb_unilab_e.pdf
"Standardized and scalable: Simatic IT Unilab has become the industry standard in hardware and software. The system is based on industry standards such as Oracle, Microsoft, NT, and Unix. You can choose an architecture with two or three tiers.  Simatic IT Unilab is standardized and was designed to interface with other enterprise systems (ERP, MES, etc.) through conventional and emerging technologies (such as XML)."
LIMS systems in most cases just have an industry standard relational database underneath the vendor specific client application, which is no problem for xMII standard connectivity for running queries or calling procedures to access the desired information.

  • XMII 12.0: Unable to write file...

    Hi all,
lately we are facing some problems using xMII. One point is that you can easily move file or folder inside the xMII 12.0 workbench because there is no confirmation popup when clicking on a folder and move it by chance.
Apparently I have moved a folder, and it seems that I produced a Catalog Server Error according to the log. Now xMII seems to be confused, because we are now getting lots of error of the kind "Unable to wirte file..." like this:
    Unable to write file D:\usr\sap\MES\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\XMIIEnterpriseApplication\servlet_jsp\XMII\root\CM/Development/USER/xml/treestructure.xml
Have you already encountered such an error? Is it because of the "/" and "\" signs that are mixed inside the URL? Or could it be the Catalog Error mentioned above?
    Thanks for a hint!
    Best regards
    Michael

    Jeremy,
we are using xMII in combination with Adobe Flex. So xMII is going to talk to the database, and Flex as the presentation layer is calling xMII transactions to get the data.
The HTML wrapper that Flex creates and the SWF-Files are stored in the CM folder of xMII so that we can include it in the xMII Portal using the navigation wizard of xMII.
In xMII we have set up a sandbox project, so the file structure in xMII is "xMII-Root\Sandbox\Data" (Catalog) and "xMII-Root\Sandbox\WEB\Data" (Web).
When using the xMII workbench we are importing the SWF-Files into "xMII-Root\Sandbox\WEB\Data". In Flex-Builder we have set up an ant-file that deploys the SWF-Files directly into the "xMII-Root\CM\Sandbox\Data" folder after changing them. However, when only using the ant file, the copied files are gone the next day, when the WebAS restores the contents, I guess.
Using the ant files of course is much easier than using the import feature of the workbench. Maybe you can recommend a better way of deploying?
    Best Regards
    Michael

    /Lighthammer/Illuminator?Service=SystemInfo&Mode=ServerList&Mask=Disabled
They should essentially give you the list of active and disabled data servers (much like the jsp page is trying to do)
It is possible you managed to get an invalid name in the system and that's causing the error.
You could also look carefully into the Server.xml file in the Conf directory.
A ServletExec restart will also cause the system to re-read the file and log out trace information about the data server in the cms.log file (you'll see Loading Servers... and then you should see them one at a time).

  • Transaction running infinitely

    Hi Forum,
I wrote a transaction which takes a control recipe and LOIPRO files as input and builds a production schedule. This transaction is going into an infinite loop when the input size is large (say file size around 2MB) .
The last action in the transaction is a write file. Even after the file is created, transaction is not getting terminated/finished. When the input size is less (say file size around 300KB) , it is working fine. I dont think there are any infinite loops in the transaction.
While i am editing (some times when it is loaded )this transaction ,  there are some temporary files created in the same "Transactions" folder. Why this is happening and is this the problem with xMII or this specific transaction ?
Can we rely this on transaction  as this is the core of our application ?
    Mike.

    Hi Michael,
F5 and F6 make a difference only when you are in design mode i.e. when you execute a transaction from the Transaction Editor.
During runtime, F5 and F6 are irrelevant.  You need to change your log levels to suit your runtime requirement.
As for your iDoc Listener question:
The transaction is executed in runtime mode and hence, will log entries according to your log levels.  F5 and F6 are irrelevant.
    Hope this helps,
    Jai.

  • Problem with BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2 while calling using JCO of XMII

    Hi DMS Gurus,
The above FM is successfully executing and creating a local copy in temp folder of where the FM running using SAP GUI.
But when i call using jco,i am getting some problems.
    1. If i execute the FM with default values for http dest and ftp dest, i am getting error saying << c:\temp\....file could not be created.
    2. When i changed the HTTP destination to <<SAPHTTPA>, it is executing fm successfully but dont know in which system the file is downloaded.
My client application or xMII server ( where jco service is running ) or ABAP server.
I checked in the first 2,i didn't find.
SAP GUI is not installed in xMII server.
But my requirement is to download to the physical server of xMII ( jco ).
Is this any thing to do with creating http destinations??
If that is the case, can any body help me in creating http destinations..
and i heard something about SAPFTP.EXE ,is that should be some where in client or any servers??
    Please help me.

    Vansi

    Vamsi,
As I mentioned in this forum thread, bapi_document_checkoutview2.  You have to use the POST action in BLS to communicate with the HTTP Interface of Content Mgmt. directly.  The only other alternative is to write your own BAPI to retrieve the content and send it back to xMII via the JCo action (Hint: The data will be base64 encoded and can be saved to the filesystem via the Image Saver action even though it is not an image).

    Hi Vansi,
that's correct. BAPIs always require a SAPGUI connection. Therefore I would recommend you to use API function modules instead, because they are more flexible and better to use for background processing. Please see SAP note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/504692">504692</a>
which contains also some sample programs for these API modules.
