• Staroffice Update 10 issues on Windows Vista....

I tried to installing StarOffice Windows update 10 (120187-14) yestersday. http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patches/xprod-StarOffice&nav=pub-patches#staroffice8
Everything went well, but the about tab still says I'm using Update 9. Add/Remove program confirms I have Update 10 installed.
I tried to remove and reinstall, but same thing.
Today, I've tried doing this. http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5248581
Now the about tab shows I'm using update 8. I wonder what's happening here. I'm using Vista.

Failing that, you could back up your iTunes Music Folder (just copy it to your desktop or something) then uninstall itunes and re-install the fresh copy. I know its a pain but sometimes doing this saves alot of messing about.
Then all you do is add all the stuff in the itunes music folder to your library again.
Ive done this myself a couple of times in the past on a windows PC

• Staroffice 9 to SO9 Update 1 process fails

I downloaded the StarOffice9 Update 1 patch from sunsolve and followed the directions. I'm on Windows XP SP3. The update to SO9 fails every time with an error message in German. (I have a screen shot but am unsure if I can upload it here?) What I think it is saying is that it is looking for a file called "staroffice9.msi" in order to verify my installation (or something like that). There is no staroffice9.msi file on my computer. Maybe it was created when I installed SO9, but I delete installer files once the installation is complete. The patch update will not complete in any case, so I am stuck. Any suggestions?

I followed your advice and ran the original SO installer, which created the installation files on my desktop. I then canceled the rest of the installation and ran the patch update program. It worked fine, and now my system is patched to SO9 update 1. Thanks much for the helpful reply.
I must say, requiring an original .msi installer file in order to validate an update is really dumb. The installer unpacks almost 1/2 GB of files on the user's desktop. Why in the world would I want to keep those files around after my installation is done? Of course I erased them to get them off my desktop and off my disk. Then, 6 months later, I run a patch program which won't run if it can't find the original msi file. That's really not a good idea. If the updater needs to validate something, it should look for the staroffice exe file, which would make perfect sense. Looking for an msi file makes no sense for the reasons I've mentioned plus the fact that it doesn't even prove the program is installed on the system. This should be fixed!

• StarOffice 8 (Product 6) Update to Product 7 Error

Hi,
I tried to update as prompted by auto-update feature. But after I have finished downloading and saved the file 120187-10 (Signed Patch). But when I opened the file, a Java virtual machine launcher window pop up and with message stated Invalid or corrupt jarfile.
I have downloaded the latest version of Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 update 1 and tried the 2nd time but failed also, with the same error message.
Can anyone pls help what could be the cause having this update error?
Thanks.

NEWEST CUSTOMER SUPPORT REPLY:
The StarOffice team has provided the following feedback regarding your
inquiry:
Each patch is provided as common .zip file
(http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/pdownload.pl?target=120187-10&method=h)
and as signed .jar file
(http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/pdownload.pl?target=120187-10&method=hs
The signed link is just below the common link on the StarOffice Patch
site on SunSolve.
Having signed .jar files is a default behavior of SunSolve, each patch
we submit is automatically places as common and as signed one. Customers
can read more details when the click on the "Help" link on the right on
SunSolve. On the following page item 8. lists the link
http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-81418-1#SignedPa
tches.
From there customers can read the following:
(A8) Signed and unsigned patches are simply two different packaging
formats of the same patch. Signed patches are in a jar file format and
unsigned patches are in a zip file format. The contents of the files
are identical except that the jar file format also includes signature
files. Signed patch files can be verified with the Java jarsigner
command as follows:
jarsigner -verify <patch number>.jar
The command jar -x would extract a .jar file.

• StarOffice 8 Update 8 screen issues.

Ever since installing the update, my client is having problems with funny red bars popping up and obscuring random cells in spreadsheets. Anyone else have that problem? Hoping there's a workaround, since SO8U8 fixes so many other bugs, hate to have to back it out...

Had to back out the patch. As soon as I did that, the spreadsheets all came back to normal. I don't have a StarOffice support contract, so I can't alert Sun to the problem that way. Not sure if Sun people ever read this, is there a bugreport address I can send the info to?

• StarOffice 8 Update 1 available but not on patch page

Hi all
While doing a search on google I found a link to download Product Update 1 for StarOffice 8 (windows and solaris). However they are not visible on the patch page.
http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/xprod -StarOffice&nav=pub-patches
Here is the links:
Solaris

Windows
http://www.sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21 -120187-01-1
Where is the linux version?

Well, I can read. I read German translations with big words and notice that they changed it anyway...so at least someone must have agreed!
It's my wife's college students who can't seem to able to read or write...you should see some of the lousy stuff coming from their pens....it's beyond belief....

• Staroffice 8 updated ready for download date

When will be available for download the staroffice 8 updated so you don`t have to download the program and the update as separate files?

Yes. Open the App Store log in to your Apple ID, then purchase and download Lion. Note that the download is nearly 4 GBs so it will take quite a while. After it finishes downloading the installer launches automatically, so you should have your computer ready for the installation by doing this first:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

• Want to update my StarOffice 9 version but can't get access to update 9.1

Hi,
I bought StarOffice in 2009 and want to update it to version 9.2. This is a public accessable download however I need to first install version 9.1 and strange enough it sends me to a support page where I have to input an Service ID. I'm running around in circles now. I purchased an official product, can update to a public 9.2 version but have to download 9.1 first and that is behind bars. It is driving me nuts. I looked how contact Oracle but can't find anything and are confronted with YES AGAIN a Service ID. The only option is to write a letter to Oracle headquarters to overcome this problem.
Does anybody knows a better solution for my problem than writing a letter ;-).
Kind regards,
Marcel

There is no such information on our CD but we had an account on https://sunsolve.sun.com/ and got updates from it. But now access to this website is redirected to https://support.oracle.com where we need an Customer Support Identifier to get updates.
If you properly migrated your identity to oracle, then you should still be able to access the updates at this site
https://sspatch.oracle.com/showMe.do?page=public
That I did, but I didn't know about this URL. Now we can download patches (but with some difficulties — descriptions of patches are missing).
If you did not create the Oracle account with the same email address as you used for Sun, you will need to contact Oracle to reestablish your identity.
Q: Is there any way to get updates (or get OOO installer) without the mysterious CSI?Updates will require you reestablishing your identity.
For OOO you will need to purchase a new license.
I understood that:
1. "StarOffice 8" owners has possibility of update to "StarOffice 9" without any additional payment.
2. But "StarOffice 8" owners has no possibility of update to OOO without buying it. (from OOO3 Patch readme: +"You may only use this product with an already existing license to StarOffice 9 or Oracle Open Office 3.2.1."+ ).
But my situation is more complicated:
Our software provider sold the "StarOffice 8" to us on 26 ^th^ March 2009 when "StarOffice 9" was existing more than half of year. The fact of the sale is properly committed in our official papers.
Q.: Can my company use OOO taking into account the above information?
OOo gives no any guarantee to properly work comparably with OOO.With the exception of Oracle Cloud Office support, OOo is compatible since that is the code underlying OOO.
PhilThanks for you reply!

• StarOffice 6 & 7 update installation fails "Unbekannter Softwarefehler ..."

Hi,
Based on my research, the error reported by Solarwinds Diagnostic Tool is because your WSUS server has the "Directory Browsing" role service enabled in the Web Server role. If this is a dedicated WSUS server, then that is an erroneous configuration, causing
IIS to return an HTTP 403.14 error to the Diagnostic Tool, and it's displaying the standard error text for detecting an HTTP 403 error. This is a defect in your WSUS server, and the fix is to disable the Directory Browsing role service in the Web Server role.
If this is not a dedicated WSUS server, then the question is whether there are any other web applications or web services that require Directory Browsing to be enabled. If not, then you should remove the role service. If so, then this is a normal indication
for your implementation because IIS is returning an error to the Diagnostic Tool.
More details please go through the below similar thread:

We can check Windowsupdate.log to troubleshoot this issue, in addition, whether you can install the KB manually?

I am using StarOffice 8 prupdate 9. I have been trying to export in PDF but I notived the following problems:
1) When an 'area' (eg a basic shape) is filled with a color that is the same as the outline color BUT at a transparency level (say 50%) PDF exports this filled area with the same color as the outline and NO transparency.
2) When I use connectors or Bezier curves, the bounding box of the curve overwrites whatever lies behind it.
