Start location

Hi!
I wonder what is the start location when I launch JWS.
In fact, I'm trying to create a new File(".") and it appears to be on the home location.
Is it always the same behaviour?
Is it possible to specify it (like with a "basedir" tag in the jnlp file)?
Thanks,
a lost developer..

The curent directory, ( System.getproperty("user.dir"); ) is what any relative path would be relative to. Unfortunately, it isn't a very usefull location. If launching a webstart application from the browser, it will be the current dir from the browser, (either from the shrotcut the browser was started from, or from the shell the browser was started from ). If launching the webstart application from a shortcut, the user may have put in any directory as the directory the shortcut is launched from.
Is safer to make full path, it can be relative from the users home directory, by using t( System.getProperty("user'.home"); )

  • Create Expense Report how do you make field 'Start Location' mandatory

    Hi
    We are using travel expenses within ESS and we wish to make the field 'Start location'  mandatory.  This field is on the mileage screen.
    I have checked portal config and when you preview the iview and control/right click there is the option to make this field mandatory however this does not work.
    I have checked the IMG config 'Schema and Field Control for the trip schema we are using but when I select the field 'PTRV_UTIL_KMVER-LOC_FROM' and select 'Alternative Display Type' the option 'Entry in field is required' does not become available for use.
    Does anyone know  how to achieve this?
    Many thanks
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
    You have modify the table T706Z1 to make both of this fields mandatory, this is the only
    way to make the field mandatory. In standard system the fields
    PTRV_UTIL_KMVER-LOC_FROM and PTRV_UTIL_KMVER-LOC_TO cannot be set to
    mandatory. In this case you have to do some additional settings in the
    in the table PTRV_T706Z_FLDS (se16):
    PROG: PTRA_WEB_INTERFACE

  • Dialog box with default starting location?

    Running LV2010.  I want to prompt a user to save a file by opening a dialog box.  This way the user can select the file and location of the file.  Problem is, I want to open the dialog box starting in a default folder that I choose.  The LV help for file functions say that if I wire a path to the file (use dialog) input and the file doesn't exist, it will throw an error.  Is there a way to get it to open a dialog box that starts in a default folder?  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    File Dialog.vi has a 'start path' input. A dialog box will pop up starting at this path.

  • How do you specify printer start location on a label sheet in Address Book (LION)?

    I have no problem with printing address labels to my correspondents in Address Book, but cannot find the spot to tell the program to start with a specific label location on the label sheet.  It is a complete waste to print one address in the upper left of the label sheet and not to be able to tell the printer to start with row 2 col 1 the next time.

    I've found no way to do this from address book. Printing labels from address book is just simple list style printing ** fill the sheet with names and print. I see no way to insert blank information like I use to do in Clairworks in order to skip rows and columns. If you need to repeat names or print only certain columns and rows, then you would need to do that from another program. I have no recomendations since I haven't used any, but I'm sure there are many out there and probably a lot that are free to download.
    What I do is print out full sheets of mailing labels on the ones I used repeatedly, such as my return address, electric bill, water bill, etc. I used appleworks in the past, but now it no longer works under Lion, so I will have to make new sheets, probably from Word.
    For all others addresses that are not used frequently, I've resorted to just running my envelopes throught the printer.

  • Removing Windows Components and controlling start location

    I'm wanting to do a interactive application that is fullscreen across two monitors. I know that invoking the normal fullscreen procedure will defult the the fullscreen to only the main monitor. I was wondering if there was a way around this. Like, if I removed the windows borders and flash toolbar from the application, set the initial window location to start at (0,0) and then set the stage size to the resolution of the two monitors horizontal resollution compined. Is that possible, and if so what the things(terms,methods) I new to start looking at.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    You cannot do that with browser or projector (unless you use a third party projector) but you can with AIR. There was a discussion about this so if you search the archive you should be able to find it

  • Start location added to travel form

    Hi All,
    Basically I need to add the start/end location of each trip segment to the travel form, can anybody help?
    Currently the form PTRV_EXPENSE_FORM shows the miles and reimbursement amount for each trip segment but i need the start/end location(PTRV_LOC_FROM/PTRV_LOC_TO)......does anybody know how i can do this.
    I have found the fields in the structure PTK10 but not able to get that into the interface area as it's a structure not a table, I've also managed to track it down to kmver-loc-to, but I believe this is a cluster???
    Liam

    Hello,
    I am not sure if I understand the problem, but will try to help anyway. You have a standard form and want to add 2 fields, right?
    That means you need to:
    - add the fields into the interface
    - open the layout and add new field on the form, bind them to their backend data sources from interface
    - change the printing program so it fills the new field for you (change the program directly if you want to repair it or to copy it into a Z-program or do some initialization scripting/ABAPing in the interface in backend)
    I wonder if you have copied any of the mentioned parts into a Z-object or you´re repairing the standard ones?

  • Starting locator problem

    I installed Discoverer3i but I couldn't run the locator. The error I got is "vbj: .exe must be in your path" I checked the windows path and it is fine. Is there another Oracle specific path I should set. Please help...thanks in advance.

    Actually Discoverer3i Services did start for me but I still got the following error when I tried to start Discoverer3i from the browser: "Unable to connect to the Oracle Discoverer Application Server: Locator unable to start session bob3iOracleDiscovererSession3.3. Please contact yout Oracle Discoverer Administrator." I do not have a separate Oracle Discoverer Application Server. I am doing a one machine install for Discoverer 3i on a PC and Oracle8i on a unix machine. The Machine IPs in the preferences has been set to that of my PC, the http server. Does the Locator start when the services start? I couldn't see the process for the locator. I saw oad.exe, osagent.exe and jre.exe though. Thanks for your help.

  • Preview on Lion: open document on start / location signature

    One annoying change in Preview coming along with Lion is that whenever I start Preview the most recently opened document is automatically opened, and I can't find any option to turn off this behaviour!
    On the other hand, now being able to sign (ie. not electronically/digitally as in a PKI environment) a PDF is really cool!
    Any ideas where the scanned signature are being stored, as I'd like to use the ones I've created some time ago.

  • How can we model different receipt days in a location depending on the start-destination relationship in an optimizer run in SNP?

    We have a business scenario where the receipt days for a location depends on the relationship between the Start-Destination Location. We need to include this constraint in an optimizer run with daily buckets.
    Example:
    Factory A (Start Location) ships to DC X (destination location) only on Mondays, with a lead time of 2 days. DC X should receive the stock from Factory A on Wednesday
    Factory B (Start Location) ships to DC X (destination location) only on Thursdays, with a lead time of 1 day. DC X should receive the stock from Factory B on Saturday
    Does anyone has been able to model this scenario?
    I tried using transportation calendars(time stream) in the means of transport, having undesired results:
    a) Transportation Lane A-X. Calendar 1A, only Monday is available
    The system creates stock transfers on Monday on Week 1 and ends on Monday of Week 3.
    b) Transportation Lane A-X. Calendar 2A, Monday and Wednesday are available
    The system creates stock transfers on Monday and Wednesday on Week 1:
          The stock transfer that starts on Monday-Week 1 ends on Monday-Week 2.
          The stock transfer that starts on Wednesday-Week 1 ends on Wednesday-Week 2.
    c) Transportation Lane A-X. Calendar 3A, Monday Tuesday and Wednesday are available
    The system creates stock transfers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on Week 1.
         The stock transfer that starts on Monday-Week 1 ends on Wednesday-Week 1. (this is actually what I need)
         The stock transfer that starts on Tuesday-Week 1 ends on Monday-Week 2.
         The stock transfer that starts on Wednesday-Week 1 ends on Tuesday-Week 2.

    you really don't need to post all that code, few people will read it, or try to compile/run it.
    just a tree in a scrollpane in a frame is all you need, then add the method/problem to the basic,
    and post that so its only 20 to 30 lines long.
    here's your basic tree/scrollpane/frame, with an expandAll()
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    class Testing
      public void buildGUI()
        JTree tree = new JTree();
        expandAll(tree);
        JFrame f = new JFrame();
        f.getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(tree));
        f.pack();
        f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        f.setVisible(true);
      public void expandAll(JTree tree)
        int row = 0;
        while (row < tree.getRowCount())
          tree.expandRow(row);
          row++;
      public static void main(String[] args)
        SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
          public void run(){
            new Testing().buildGUI();
    }so, is your problem with the expandAll(), or with reading the properties file?

  • Start of locator failed

    On Windows when I try to start the TCP locators (gemfilre)  after 2 - 3 minutes I get: ERROR: Operation "start-locator" failed because: Start of locator failed. The end of "D:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES4\lib\caching\start_locator.log" contained this message: "".  The start_locator.log exists but is empty.  I run startlocator from a command window as administrator.  This is a new installation of ES4 SP1 running in JBoss.

    Actually, you dont have to move the cache folder.  the prob with the default install is that it adds 2 space in the folder name.  You can fix the folder name or fix the start_locator.bat file.
    "C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES3" doesn't work.
    "C:\Only 2 Spaces\caching\" doesn’t work.
    "C:\Only 1Space\caching\" works.
    "C:\Adobe\Adobe-LiveCycle ES3" works.
    "C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle" works.
    "C:\Adobe\Adobe-LiveCycle-ES3" works.

  • Can "cycle" be set to stop at the end, and/or go to the start and stop there?

    Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place for this feature. I'm used to a daw that provides a method to identify a region (similar to Cycle Mode), but gives the options to do one of several things, rather than only loop that passage endlessly. Sometimes I want playback to stop at the end of the passage...and when I hit return, it will go to the beginning of the passage and stop there. Or..sometimes I want the playhead to go to the beginning of the passage and stop there, instead of continuously loop. I rarely want an endless loop of the section.
    Sometimes I don't want a region at all, I simply want to set a memory location and have the playhead go there any time I hit return, instead of go to the beginning of the sequence, or to the beginning of a cycle to start looping.
    thanks

    Yeah...I've worked out an alternative, but it would be very nice if there was a feature like what I'm talking about. Basically, a start and end memory location that is multi configurable to whatever you want. It can loop, or just go back to the start location and stop. And every press of rewind takes you to the start.
    I've come up with the key command, go to left locator or right locator, and don't enable cycle mode.

  • IPhone 3g only pulled in location of photographs taken in UK and USA

    I have returned recently from a cruise , flying out to SIngapore and sailing back to Southampton, calling in at various locations, Thailand ,Malaysia, India, Oman,Jordan, Egypt, Greece and Rome.
    A great trip, took lots of photographs plus a lot with the iPhone for the GPS location of places. The phone was turned on throughout as normal, with roaming turned off. Shots were imported into Aperture 3 and I was disappointed to find location data only for the shots taken in the Uk at the beginning and end of the trip. Previously I found the same iPhone picked up location data in the USA quite happily with the same standard settings.
    Any ideas ?

    I posted this question on a photography centred web site and received the following reply, which may be of interest to others, thanks to Nick Bull
    Each satellite in the GPS network has a very accurate atomic clock inside which is synchronised to each other (so they all have the same time). The satellites then constantly beam out signals which contains the time it was sent and its precise location in orbit (and a few other bits of information). Using this information from at least four satellites, it is possible for the GPS device (on the ground) to triangulate the location on Earth. There is not, however, any communication between the device and the satellite. The stand-alone GPS device usually needs several minutes is because it takes several iterations of calculations to get the accuracy required. When you start the GPS device again after turning it off, providing a "short time" has elapsed, or the location has not changed sufficiently since the last activation, it is possible to use the previous known location to "assist" the calculations and therefore provide a fix quicker.
    The iPhone's GPS system works on a system known as "A-GPS" or Assisted-GPS (although it is more of a hybrid A-GPS). This uses triangulation from cell towers (it works out how long it takes for the signal to reach a number of cell towers whose locations are known and then can work out a rough location). This is then used as a helper for the GPS system to get a lock more accurately and, because you give the algorithms some starting location, it can find the location quicker. There is nothing transmitted through the data connection with regards satellite location as this is transmitted by the actual satellites all the time. If you are using a Wi-Fi connection then there is a system called Skyhook that can provide the iPhone with your location based on the wi-fi network - this is the only time data is sent across the internet to provide location information.
    GPS on the iPhone can (and does) work with or without data connection (unless you are relying on the Skyhook system). It can also work when there is no cell signal (you can take your SIM card out and it will still work - you just can't use it in Airplane mode). As long as you have a "clear view" of the sky then it can use the satellite signal to calculate your location. If you are in a city or other area with high structures, there can be problems with the satellite signals bouncing off buildings and giving multi-path errors. The actual calculation and "lock" time can be from 40 seconds to five minutes depending on how many satellites are "visible".
    So, to the OP, if you were carrying your phone with you, the GPS system only activates when you use a location-aware app (the camera, maps app, etc). If you just have the phone on, but in your pocket or bag, then the GPS won't be active. When you pull your iPhone out to take a picture, it doesn't know your location and it could take up to 5 minutes to calculate your location. So if you take your phone out, fire up the camera app and take a picture straight away, it won't have time to get your location. In the UK/USA it can triangulate your cell-tower location to give you a rough location (which is usually fairly accurate). It works differently in other countries, I believe, or you didn't have sufficient cell-tower coverage.
    I would suggest that you invest in an app called MotionX GPS (they do a lite version too). This can be started and then the screen locked (to save battery) and it will constantly log your GPS location. This GPS track can then be downloaded at the end of your trip and imported into Aperture 3 to geo-tag the photos you have taken. This is the method I have used on many trips abroad without problem.
    I'd like to point out that I have nothing to do with MotionX GPS other than being a happy user of their software.
    Hope this helps!

  • Default location for file browse dialog

    OK, I know this is not solely an APEX issue, but is there a way that one can specify a starting location when invoking the file browse dialog?

    I don't think there is a possibility to modify the file browse item. It is a security issue.
