Start $ stopping server in remote

How to start and stop a remote server through java

You can't stop just any server. Some operating systems migh have commands which allow you to stop a sever. You need to invoke those commands using Runtime.exec

    I googled "cf8 osx don't autostart", and turned up this:

    Does that make sense? It's all a bit Greek to me because I've

  • Starting Weblogic Server Cluster remotely via VPN

    We have a site-to-site VPN setup from our office to our ISP so we can
              control our system remotely. We can stop our Weblogic servers (in a
              cluster) remotely via the VPN no problem via the "stopweblogic.cmd" command
              where we just change the IP address of our remote server. We're having
              trouble starting them through the WebLogic console applet. We can bring the
              applet up & running, but no luck starting them.
              Is there another way to start your weblogic servers (besides using something
              like PC Anywhere).
              Or is there any documentation that could point to an answer here?
              Any suggestions?

    1. "myserver" is the name of the server. It doesn't want the name of the
    machine the server is on.
    2. It is possible that something is wrong in the license file. I've made a
    typo when changing the license on my server that prevented weblogic from
    starting.
    Hope this helps.

  • OSB 10gR3 - Starting Managed server on remote machine

    I have 2 Windows 2003 Enterprise machines.
    I have OSB 10gR3 installed on both with Node Manager running on default port, on both.
    I create the servicebustutorial domain and start the admin server on the first machine.
    On the second machine, I use the WLST to
    <ul><li>connect('weblogic','password','t3://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:7001') # connect to admin server on first machine
    </li>
    <li>nmEnroll('c:/bea/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager') # make node manager visible
    </li>
    <li>nmEnroll('c:/bea/user_projects/domains/servicebustutorial') # enroll in the servicebustutorial</li>
    </ul>
    Now, I don't know if this is the correct thing to do.
    Back on the first machine, I create a new machine to represent the second Windows box.
    I can see the node manager on the second machine using the machine monitoring page.
    I then create a new server that is assigned to the new machine.
    I can attempt to start the new server on the second machine.
    The Server directory appears in the servers directory on the second windows box.
    Log files appear on the second box but the config.xml is not there, and thus, the server fails to start.
    I would have thought that the server config would have propogated from the admin server, is this a wrong assumption?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks, in advance.
    ...Lyall

    Thanks for replying.
    I login as a local administrator on the machine that WebLogic runs. All operations are performed using that login (starting admin server, starting node manager).
    I changed permissions on C:\BEA, all the way down, localadmin group has full control, everywhere.
    I tried changing nodemanager C:\bea\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager\nodemanager.properties LogLevel to DEBUG but then NodeManager refuses to start, so I returned it back to INFO.
    I set debug on the Managed Server I am trying to setup, as you suggested.
    I even updated the NodeManager and Server boot.properties files to be cleartext and Deleted the LDAP directory within the Managed Server (as I assume it's re-created if it does not exist)
    Wow, heaps comes out, but the following may be relevant.
    In particular, this single line, causes concern.

  • Is There a Way to Start A Server/Computer Remotely?

    We have a Server running 2012 R2 Foundation with 2 joined workstations in our office space. We travel frequently for business, and while we're away, we access the workstations remotely via RDS/RDG.  Due to the sensitive nature of our data on the
    server, we have to keep the office locked and not allow anyone to have a key (we're a 2 person company).
    Out biggest concern is that if the server should shut down while we're away, we currently have no means by which to restart it until we return.
    I'd like to know if there's any way that we can restart the server and/or workstation remotely, perhaps with some kind of software or hardware device/expansion card.  I'd be very grateful for any/all help with this.
    Capt. Dinosaur

    Thanks for your input, Dave.
    I followed the link, plus the link in the resulting thread, and downloaded the iDRAC user's guide.  According to the thread the T110 II does, at least, have the one option - BMC - that doesn't support a Web based GUI, but, according to the
    User's Guide on pg 23, does provide "Server Power Control", but with the footnote caveat on pg 24, that the, "Feature is available only through IPMI and not through a Web GUI".
    Given that, it sounds like it might work for me, if only I knew what the $%** IPMI is and how to use it.
    Anyhoo, I pressed Ctrl+E, got into the BMC settings, and set them up - I think - but they're not very intuitive.  I'm no sure that I've actually used the correct settings in many cases.  For example; 1) for the Domain Name, I used the actual
    AD domain name, but I don't know if it should be the SSL domain instead, since that's what I use for RDS/RDG access, 2) for the "Alert Destination 1" I used the server's static INTERNAL IP address, but not sure if it's supposed to be the EXTERNAL
    IP, 3) for the IPV4 addresses I used the EXTERNAL IP information from my router - I think that one is correct, but not sure, 4) for the RMCP+ Encryption Key I left the default of all zeroes, 5) for the "LAN USER CONFIGURATION" I used the
    defaults for Account Access (Enabled) and IPMI LAN Privilege (Admin), but for the Account User Name and Password I used the Server's Administrator information.
    The problem now is that I haven't a clue as to how to test it.  Could you 'splain that at me???
    Re: "Setting the system bios to restart on power up should be no problem but the UPS may be trickier as they generally do not power on if the batteries were discharged completely".
    I have the battery backup utility set to shut the machine down 2 minutes after a power failure.  They're supposed to have a 15 minute wait time, so that, hopefully, should prevent the batteries from a deep discharge.

    My main problem is cannot start Manager server through Node Manager. I've configured with the same way on my friend's network and It's works but It's wrong with mine.

    I can ensure that all of these connection pool has configured to run on 9093 port already. Then I view the DOMAIN_NAME/pointbase.log, it said:
    Unable to start the server. start server error: java.net.BindException: Address already in use
    I cannot understand what's run on pointbase address ?
    All of these error make me angry, because I've configured with the same way on other system and It's work. I've spent all of week to fix these bug, but I'm having nothing :((
    Please help me.

    Thank Jay SenSharma.
    I've looked for these JAVA_OPTION values you said, but I cant found them. That value is content of JAVA_DEBUG option, not JAVA_OPTION. In my situation, JAVA_DEBUG=" " (it's not set by default).
    Please re-view my error log:

  • Start/stop OAS 10g (9.0.4) instances remotely

    Hi,
    I want to find out if I can start/stop Mid-tier instance remotely.
    For example, I have Mid-tier installed on RHEL 3.0 server and Infrastructure installed on AIX server.
    I want to start/stop Midtier instance along with Infrastructure from AIX machine. Can any one suggest any script for this?
    Thanks in advance!
    GN

    I don't know if its possible in a single script.
    What I'll do is connect over ssh to the servers and run some of the scripts available to start/shutdown the instances.
    In [1] there are some useful scripts. (the scripts need to be IN the server, not your client)

  • How to start and stop server?

    This is a design issue that may not belong in this forum, but bear with me, please.
    I have a stand-alone RMI server that I start thusly:
    public class StartServer {
        public static void main( String[] args )
            AppContext context = Server.getContext();
            String name = context.getProperty("dbServerRegistryName", String.class );
            String policyFile = context.getProperty("securityPolicy", String.class );
            System.setProperty("java.security.policy", policyFile );
            if( System.getSecurityManager() == null) {
                System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());
            Registry registry = null;
            try {
                ServerImpl server = context.getObject( ServerImpl.class );
                server.initialize();
                registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry();
                 * Use a stub when the server doesn't extend UnicastRemoteObject.
                Server stub =
                    (Server)UnicastRemoteObject.exportObject( server, 0);
                registry.rebind( name, stub );
                stdout.println("Server is ready.");
            }  catch( Throwable ex )  {
    }The server continues to run in the main thread when main() ends, which is okay I suppose.
    Now I have another class that stops it:
    public final class StopServer {
        public static void main( String[] args )
           /* Same setup code */
            try {
                Server server = (Server)Naming.lookup( name );
                if( server.pollReady() )  {
                     * Remote method requiring admin login to execute.
                     * Tells the server to quit.
                    if( server.stop( uName, pwd, delay ) )  {
    // unbind?
            }  catch( Throwable ex )  {
            System.exit( result );
        }                                       // main()
    }The crux of the question is, how should I quit once inside the running server?
        public final synchronized boolean stop ( final String uName, final String pwd, final long millis )
        throws RemoteException, InterruptedException {
    // TODO  login
            Thread.currentThread().wait( millis );
            Thread.currentThread().interrupt();
    }The server is single-threaded in that it runs the calling thread to completion - there are no spawned or worker threads.
    Does this approach seem reasonable or is there a better technique?

    The server continues to run in the main thread when main() ends, which is okay I suppose. That's what it's meant to do.
    public final synchronized boolean stop ( final String uName, final String pwd, final long millis )
    throws RemoteException, InterruptedException {
    // TODO  login
    Thread.currentThread().wait( millis );
    Thread.currentThread().interrupt();
    }Does this approach seem reasonable or is there a better technique?That won't stop the server, so no it's not reasonable.
    You should call UnicastRemoteObject.unexportObject(this, true). You don't need the 'millis' argument to this method.

  • Windows Server 2008 - Group policy for domain client to start/stop services installed on it

    Hello Experts
    I am a newbie to windows server administration , though did a Google  , but ended up with these question with my requirements
    I have created a new domain and 2 client/computer (A & B namely) to domain . Now A & B has tomcat server running with port 8080 , 9090 which i have installed
    domain ADMIN account .
    && now i am want to start/stop/restart services enabled for domain users  !! How do i achieve this !!
    basic question : How can i access A & B tomcat services on DOMAIN CONTROLLER server to create a GPO and that are on (A & B)
    what is the easiest way to achieve the same , (if not using GPO)???
    similarly I am looking for many features : where I want to control the permission to user on (A & B ) like : If the binaries of tomcat is available on machine say : A , if the user can install (now
    it ask for ADMIN credentials)
    Thanks
    Mike~Ed

    Controlling services with Group Policy is done under Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\System Services.
    The limitation is that system services can only see the services the computer running the Group Policy management console. To access other services, you will either need to create the services on your computer (install the software the adds the service)
    or install the remote server administration toolkit (RSAT) on the computer with the service already on it.

    I think your problem is here: Caused By: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: allocLargeObjectOrArray: [Ljava/lang/Object;, size 782611408
    And is probably related to this: http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/openjpa-dev/201006.mbox/%3C26423199.85161276545675046.JavaMail.jira@thor%3E
    the comment in here is saying: Make the CacheMarshallerImpl a bit more tolerant to different configurations.
    Could be the out of memory error you getting is related to your openjpa configuration, not sure here

  • Script to start/stop all manager sever/Admin server

    Hi Gurus,
    I am new bee to weblogic and learning it on daily basic.
    I have a scenario and would like to see if this is possible.
    We have one server and have couple of applications are running like SOA,OSB, OSR etc. During any downtime, we have to shut down each Admin Server, Manage server one by one and take up. This take time and effort too.
    Do we have some options through which we can configure all start/stop script in one file and do this work with few clicks. server shout down should be clean and take care of node manager recycle also.
    Could you please advise me on this or pls point me towards some already documented solution. I goggled this but did not find.

    Thanks radoui for your response.
    I see this approach as the default one.. Could you please advice me whats the correct sequence of shutting down the servers including node manager and starting back.
    Like I have SOA installed.
    So First I have to take down SOA managed server followed by Admin server and then node manager ..? Let me know if this is not correct.
    I still have doubt on this approach as if, managed server failed to stop and means while script will take down admin server and so on..
