Start up problems with a G4 Gigabit model.

I could really use some help here. I just recently traded a friend for a dual 500mhz processor that he took of from a G4 Gigabit Ethernet model. It appears that the particular GE had issues with it's logic board and my friend decided to part it up. I swapped out my old 400MHZ single core cpu & installed the Dual 500MHZ. Before I performed the upgrade, I took out the memory and video card so that I could have better room to work with. Once I put everything back, I started up the Mac and got the bong and I could hear the fan working but, the screen was blank. The message on the monitor read, "no signal from computer". I shut down the Mac and uninstalled and reinstalled the video card and still got the same problem. I pressed the cuda button and finally got the system to start up but now every time I shut the Mac down, I keep getting the same problem. When I try to start her up, it takes a long time for Mac OSX to load and some times it times out. The only way that I can get her to start correctly is by shutting her down, waiting 10 seconds, starting her back up & then press the reset button but, I'm afraid that I'm doing damage to her.
Does anyone know what's going on with her? My gut feeling is that it might be the pram battery but I'm not too sure. Any help would be appreciated.

PRAM battery. I would check it first. When mine went, I had no response from my Mac at all; just a light on my power button; absolutely no boot at all.
Check out things in Texas Mac Man's Battery, PRAM, PMU tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies. The SMU link is for a late G5 Tower. Early G5's use PMU rest, as shown in the tutorial. The battery for late G5 + G5 iMacs and earlier iMacs, Mac Minis and Intel Tower Macs is this one.
Course, the CPU you traded for could be bad also. Maybe it wasn't the logic board after all. Try things in the faq first.

Can you assist us in a Start-up problem with the Z10's.
I have read a lot of complains with the Z10 starting-up and then got stuck at 98% completion. No further response after that!

Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock
Click on Go > Home
Double-click Library
Double-click Preferences
Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash. -
Airport wifi problems with uverse and gigabit switch resolved
I think there is a bug in airport firmware 7.6 with how spanning tree works in addition to problems with the Uverse router. Having an Airport with a uverse 2wire 3801 and gigabit switch will not work. Putting the extreme in NAT mode with DMZ plus behind the uverse resolved the problem.
Network configuration:
Uverse 2wire 3801 router
3801 provides prioritization for upstream traffic so skype and VoIP work better when doing a lot of stuff on Internet
Airport extreme firmware 7.6
two airport express 802.11n hardwired to extreme. Set up in bridge mode. All access points have same SSID "create a network" to enable roaming. Ignore anything to do with extending a network. firmware 7.6
two gigabit switches
Netgear GS608 - 8 port gigabit switch
Trendnet TEG-S80g - 8 port gigabit switch
100BT 5 port switch - did not figure into problem

However, you need to be careful to place your own PCs and other internet devices on the network created by your gear (airport extreme in your case), but keep AT&T's set top boxes for the IPTV services IN FRONT of your own router - so they remain on AT&T's provided network.
So it would work like this ...
Network 1: 2wire RG (4 lan ports) -> Any Set tops, and to the WAN port on your AirportExtreme
Network 2: Airport Extreme LAN ports -> to any computers or internet devices (but not AT&T set top boxes).
The RG prioritizes the traffic for your Uverse Voice and your Uverse TV ahead of internet data traffic, as it rationalizes data heading out of your home. If you place your own equipment in that equation (like putting AT&T set top boxes behind your Airport Extreme) the performance and function of your AT&T set top boxes could really flake out on you.
Symptom:
Everything would be working fine, then intermittently all my wifi access points would stop working. ~6,000 ms latency, dropped packets. Ethernet worked fine. Here is an example of my macbook pinging the extreme when associated with the extreme over wifi with a strong signal.

Root cause:
It looks like the 2wire 2801 router has a problem with spanning tree when interoperating with gigabit switches and airports. There is interplay with the airport.
I did not have this problem until the 7.6 airport firmware. I had been using the Netgear hub for about a year with the extreme in bridge mode. I added the Trendnet hub and upgraded airport firmware at the same time which made fault isolation difficult.
Problem recreation:
Set up airport expresses hard wired to extreme
Connect gigabit switch anywhere to network
Everything OK
Dettach one computer from wifi then reattach, then all wifi stops working. It takes a few seconds for the problem to propagate.
Ethernet still works fine
Problem Resolution:
Connect to 2wire with ethernet
Set 2wire route to have subnet as 192.168.2.x
Set extreme in NAT mode behind 2wire. It will complain about double NAT. Override the warning. Set the subnet to 192.168.1.x so you don't have to change any static IP addresses. Note that 2wire uses 192.168.1.254 as default route whereas airport uses 192.168.1.1.
I set DHCP to start at .10 to leave the lower addresses for assigning static IP addresses to computers I want to expose outside the firewall.
Go into firewall settings. Select airport extreme. Select the bottom setting which is "DMZ Plus". When you go into the airport extreme settings, you will now see that it has the uverse public IP address on its WAN port. NAT port mappings work fine on the extreme behind the 2wire router.Keeping this very short here is a summary of the actual problem and solution to allow your Apple Airport Extreme to run in Bridge mode on the same subnet as your uVerse settop boxes (if your Layer 2 switch is configurable).
Devices: Uverse, Cisco SG300, and Airport Extreme
uVerse uses Multicast to broadcast video streams between the uVerse network to the settop box, and from settop box to settop box.
X number of Multicast Groups are created based on X number of settop boxes you have. You can see the multicast definitions by logging into the webinterface of the iNid. Each settop box is a member and can choose to display a broadcasted TV stream or not.
Multicast membership is setup by the use of ICMP messages for IPv4 (MLD for IPv6). Each of the settop boxes become members of each others multicast group by reporting up to the iNid (MultiCast Proxy).
In an ideal world a layer 2 switch will track these memberships and only forward a broadcast packet to the ports on the switch to which the settop boxes are connected to. The switch would do these via snooping on the ICMP packets. Most switches by default do not do this by default and simply forward the broadcast packett out every one of it's switch ports.
Here in lies the problem. Problem is that the Apple AES doesn’t do ICMP snooping / filtering and floods the wireless network with these broadcast streams.
In order to fix this you must turn on ICMP snooping and filtering on the switch (or buy a switch that does this). I have a Cisco SG300 and list out the configuration below.
Other notes:
Ensure that all Media renderers (settop boxes) and servers are wired directly off the switch and not attached to any of the Airport Express ports. This way no media transverses the Airport (only control point traffic goes through the WiFi - which is fine). Obviously if the IGMP snooping switch sees any client requesting Multicast streaming traffic on the same port as the WAP, it will add that Multicast address to the forwarding table for that port, and then, yes it could get flooded.
Remember, you need to allow some Multicast traffic through your WAP to allow UPnP discovery to work (assuming that you will be using Wireless control points.)
Read the Multicast chapter in the SG 300 switch Admin Guide as it explains things very well.
Setting up multicast on the SG300s using the WebUI:
1. Multicast/Properties/
Tick enable Bridge Multicast Filtering Status for VLAN 1, and
set the Forwarding Method to IP Group Address for both IPv4 & IPv6.
2. Multicast/ IGMP snooping/
Tick enable IGMP snooping status then select and edit the entry and ensure that IGMP querier status is ticked.
It's essential for IGMP snooping to work that there must be at least one active IGMP querier on the network - if more than one is enabled, they will carry out an "election" to decide which one should be active (normally the one with the lowest IP address.)
3. Multicast Router Port
Set whichever port that is connected to the uVerse iNid to Status which means that it the uVerse router connected to this port is the Multicast Router
4. Multicast/ Unregistered Multicast
set all ports to Filtering. (The default is Forwarding.)
There are a lot of other variables within all the above - the defaults are OK, you should probably leave them alone!
In the config file you would then expect to see the above appearing as something like this:

Archana.It seams that the component 'tc/wd/wslib' is not well deployed on your server. You should redeploy it on your server.

-Expand the FRAMEWORK item, there is the 'tc/wd/wslib' normally
Deploy :
-Open the menu Window > Show view > Other and open the Undeploy View
-In the undeploy view expand the FRAMWORK item and locate the tcwdwslib (it ther is no such application, then go directly to deploy steps after)
-Add the to the undeploy list (+ button)
-Click undeploy (blue button near + button
When it is undeployed, you can redploy it:
-In the Componenet Browser, locate the 'tc/wd/wslib' in the FRAMWORK as befor
-Right-click and click Deploy and click OK
If it not working, try the same (undeploy/dredploy) with 'tc/wd/wslib/api'
Check also that the dependencies of your project should have 'tc/wd/wslib/api' and not tc/wd/wslib/

Sometimes cannot start PC: problem with Hitachi SATA Hard drive and K7N2G-ILSR
I have major problem with my 160Gb SATA Hitachi hard drive and my MSI K7N2G-ILSR motherboard. Sometimes the PC can be started, sometimes it cannot.
After I installed a clean build of Windows XP Pro SP1 onto my new hard drive (as the only hard drive in my PC) and install all the necessary drivers, the system runs smoothly. However, after about 2 to 3 weeks, sometimes when I start the PC, it cannot detect the hard drive and hence it claimes that it cannot find any VMI Pool Data (i.e. no OS detected). What makes it really horrible is that, it is like the lottery everytime when I start the PC. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The highest record was 8 consecutive failures (by resetting or by turning the power off and on again) before I can start the machine properly. Also, the system sometimes just crashes in the middle of operating.
I have already sent the hard drive back to Hitachi. Got the same model of hard drive back as replacement, but the replacement has the same problem, except with the replacement drive the PC can be started eventually after many tries, while with the previous drive it is possible that the PC cannot be started until after a few days later.
Also, it seems that my drive can detect either SATA hard drive or PATA hard drive, but not both. (If I leave my old PATA drive connect in the primary IDE channel, Windows cannot detect the new SATA drive.)
Is my motherboard faulty? Can it only use PATA drive?
My PC's spec is as follows:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512Mb PC3200 SDRAM (set to run at 166MHz)
Hitachi 160Gb SATA Hard drive on 1st SATA channel (Model #HDS722516VLSA80)
Sony DVD+-RW drive and Panasonic DVD-ROM drive on secondary IDE channel

the only sata drives i now that spins faster is western digital raptors 10k rpm.
all other is running at 7200rpm.
older drives run at 5400rpm

Start up problems with G5- any ideas?

I have had recurring startup problems with my G5, the machine boots up everytime i.e you hear startup chime and fans etc.. but it can take 3-4 times turning on/off for anything to appear on screen.
I have had this problem for over 3 months now, and i use it alot, i have tried using different monitor, bought new pram battery, done apple hardware test,had it checked at apple dealer and even bought latest OS 10.4.3 and erased everything on disk and started all over, and still the bugger doesn't work properly!
I would greatly appreciate any ideas. The G5 is a 2004 model and i use it with apple keyboard,mouse.
Look forward to any replies..I had the same problem with my dual 2.7 g5. I noticed that if I left the system unplugged for a while, the computer would start up on the first try. If it was running for a while and I turned it off or tried a restart, it would not boot up for the first 5-10 tries.
The end result was to take it in 3 times to get everything on the inside replaced. That solved the problem. I think it would have been cheaper for Apple to have given me a new system. The fixes cost more than what I paid for the computer. This system is covered by Apple Care. I am good for the next 2.5 years. -
Slow in start-up + problems with Entourage
Since I have installed Mac OS X Lion I do have some problems.
My Macbook Pro doesn't start up as fast as he used with previous Mac version, how come? I unchoose the box to re-open programs at start-up.
Another thinhg, from time to time my Entourage (2008) needs to be closed to sent a problem report to Microsoft, before Mac OS X Lion I had no problems with this.
Will there be soon an update which fixes all these bugs?I doubt you will like this suggestion, but since you installed a new drive I would recommend doing this:
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Reinstall Snow. If you continue to have problems it could be got a slightly defective DVD or you may have marginal RAM. -

I'm having problems with my windows 8 laptop.
This afternoon I shut it down, and went to work. A few hours later when I came back home I noticed the little blue lights on the keyboard (showing me that the pc was charging and that my wifi is on) were still on. Normally these are off when the pc is turned
off.
I tried starting the laptop but nothing happened, the screen stayed black. I held down the 'on' button to force it to turn off, and turned it on again.
I then got a textmessage on the startup loading screen that there were problems with my C drive (only drive the laptop has), so it went to automatic repair.
*my laptop's language is set to Dutch so I'm translating everything :)*
It gave me 2 options:
1: Restart computer
2: Advanced options.
I tried option 1, didnt work ofcourse, it just restarted and I got back to this screen, so I checked what option 2 had to offer.
I got to a screen with 3 options:
1: Continue to windows 8
2: Solve Problems
3: Shut down
When I tried option 1 the computer just restarted and went back to the same screen.
When I tried option 3 it shut down as it should.
Option 2 gave me 3 other options:
1: Renew PC
2: Factory reset
3: advanced options
Option 1 just restarted my pc and took me back to screen 1.
Option 2 I havent tried yet, because it erases all of my files. This is a last resort.
Option 3 gave me 6 other options:
1: Systemrepair
2: Repair with installationcopy
3: Startuprepair
4: CMD
5: UEFI firmware settings
6. Startupsettings.
I can't use option 1,2,3,4 because I need to log in to an administratoraccount.
The bad part is: the laptop doesn't have an administratoraccount.
It was my parents laptop, and theyve set it up. I always assumed the account was an admin because
I had acces to everything and didn't need a password to run things as admin and such.
Turns out it isn't.
I get this message (translated) when I try to acces one of these:
'You have to log in as administrator to continue, but this pc doesn't have an administratoraccount'.
I can't believe microsoft added a check to see if the pc has an admin account on it, and even added a specific message to show when it doesn't, but they didnt add the option to just use these tools when there is no admin account present? What were they thinking!
Option 5 I havent tried yet, when I click it it says I have to restart to acces these settings, but I dont want to mess with something I know nothing about.
Option 6 gives me a few options like run the pc in safety mode, run windows repair and disable auto-restart after something has gone wrong with windows. But when I select one of these options it doesnt work. It just takes me back to auto repair. It just doesn't
doe anything.
There are no other options. Nothing I can do. My pc is stuck like this. The only thing I *might* be able to do is a factory reset, but I havent tried, and that could also just give me an error about me not being admin.
Some backstory of what I think caused this problem:
I believe the problems started a week ago, last friday.
I'm using a program called 'AVG TuneUp'. This program gave me a message telling me it was 3 months since it had checked my C drive for defects or anything. And it asked me if I wanted it to do so. Unknowing of the problems that would follow, I pressed 'ok'
(or whatever it was).
I had to restart my pc for it to begin, because it could only check the drive during startup. It went to 12% and stayed there for like half an hour, after which I decided to google (on my phone) if that was normal. It turned out that that option doesn't work
well with windows 8 and that lots of people's computers got ruined after using it. I stressed and I tried to shut it down, but since I was still in startup the only thing I could do was force the pc to shut down, so I held down the power button and it shut
down. I restarted and managed to abort the proces. The laptop started fine and everything worked.
A few days later a game/program I use called League of Legends started to act weird, because I could not log in on my account (for the game) anymore. Some error with IE settings, which I was unable to fix. Although I doubt it will help.
That forum post also contains a link to a post I made on the Steam forum about not being able to log into steam anymore. (Steam is another program I used). I wasn't able to log into steam anymore about 1-2 days after I wasn't able to log into LoL.
Also at the same time my Norton sortof stopped working. It showed up as active in my task manager and AVG TuneUp program manager, but it wasn't in my task bar and I couldnt acces the control panel.
Then yesterday I checked my pc for errors with AVG TuneUp's 1-click maintenance tool, and it told me my C drive was fragmented badly, so I defragmented it using the tool. Laptop still worked fine after that.
And then today I got the error on startup about my C drive having errors.
Long story shot: Problem is probably caused because I stopped the repair of my C drive with the avg tuneup tool before it was done, however its weird that I'm only experiencing (big) problems a week after that happened.

It's a Samsung Ativ book 6 (google it for all the specs :) )
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
CPU: intel 3230M @ 2.60 gHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8850M
HDD: 1 TB S-ATAII hard disc

Perhaps the operating system is incorrectly powering down or shifting the wireless adapter to a low power state in order to improve run time while on battery?
Try going into the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), locate the wireless adapter under the Network Adapters tree, view its Properties, and on the Power Management tab, disable (un-check) the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option.
Please let us know if that makes any difference (or not).

H55M-E23 Problems with Onboard Realtek Gigabit NIC
I just finished a new build HTPC using the H55M-E23 and I'm having problems with the onboard Realtek Gigabit LAN controller.
System specs are: OS is Windows 7 - 64 bit. Intel i3-540 @ 3.0 GHz, 4GB RAM, 60GB SSD. NVIDIA GT 430 video card w/ 1MB RAM is only add in card. 300 Watt Power Supply. NVIDIA card is the primary video card and is set up that way in BIOS.
Everything installed fine and seems to work great, except that when I watch HD video, stored on a local NAS on my home network (all gigabit, including cables), about half the time, the Realtek controller will drop to about 10 MBPS, which causes the video to stutter and lockup. The video normally streams across the network at about 23 MBPS max. All other PC's on my network play these videos (home movies) no problem. CPU utilization on the MSI board is only about 5% and the video card's GPU utilization maxes out at only about 65% when the videos are streaming properly. Also, I can copy the video directly to the SSD on this HTPC and the video plays fine. So I think the rest of the hardware on the HTPC is sufficient to do what I'm trying to do. The truly annoying thing is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work.
All the latest drivers have been installed for the motherboard, video card, and Realtek NIC (trying both from MSI's website and Realtek's with the same result). The Windows installation is very clean. I've wiped the SSD twice and done a fresh Windows install and tried this immediately after the Windows install has competed and all drivers installed and again after Windows has completed all updates and I get the same result each time. I've tried several "slow network connection" solutions from Google and none so far have worked.
For anyone old like me, this acts like an IRQ conflict from back in the early days of Windows. Of course Windows 7 doesn't let you mess with IRQ's anymore, at least that I can find. BTW, Device Manager lists the IRQ for the Realtek NIC as "-2", which is very odd to me, but I'm no expert. I'm at the point now of disabling the onboard Realtek LAN and buying a cheap NIC to see if that works, but wanted to try to see if MSI has any suggestions or should I RMA the board? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BenYeah, I agree that I'll need to upgrade the PSU anyway. 300W is marginal at best for this setup. I would have probably been ok without the add in video card, but the GT 430 really makes a difference compared to the built-in graphics of the i3 and the card was so inexpensive that it was a no-brainer. I may try to take out the GT 430 just to see if the Realtek NIC behaves better, but I think long term I'll just get a cheap PCI-e NIC and that should fix things.
I would normally suspect the SSD as well, but I get the stuttering when I'm using the network streaming. The videos play fine when running directly off of the SSD. I know the SSD could still cause issues, but everything just seems to point to the Realtek chip. Honestly, I really think it's a driver / setting issue and not a bad piece of hardware, although I could be wrong.
If anyone has any other ideas, please keep 'em coming. In the meantime, I'll try a new NIC, etc and let you know what I find.

The following support article is somewhat outdated. Where it refers to booting from an installation disc, you should boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at the chime.

Facing Problem with Adaptive Web Service Model

I am consuming adaptive web servcie model. It is created from a lcoal web service i.e deployes on a web service. When i run from WS navigator it works fine.
When i consume WDJ it is erroring out. The method is written an array of bean methods.

I did re-imported my model but no help. There are 5 business methods in my EJB. three methods returns integer value and other two methods are selecting the data which returns bean type. One is bean type and another is of bean array type.....
I have problem with only these two...........................these two methods errors out when try to consume through adaptive web servcie model....are there any pre-requsisties i should take care offf.....

Problems with my curve 8520 model
Over the past two weeks my phone has been Acting quite odd. The first thing that happened was my phone completely locked up on me. It was working perfectly fine when I was Awake. I woke up in the middle of the night checked my phone. All I couldn't enter my password just scrolled through the menus of the phone being locked. It would let me enter into the menu eventually but wouldn't let me enter my password. I did A hArd battery pull with the phone on at least 20 times before It started working. I also took the sim cArd out few times. Right before the phone locked up it stArted doing that with the A's I type. Capitalizing them As I type them for no reAson. It was also adding "A" to A letter I would enter so if I hit my "s" key it would type "As" and it would keep doing that a few times before it stopped.
Since then other problems have occurred. Since then I have bAcked up my phone twice th first time updated the softwAre. It is on
v5.0.0.1067 (Bundle 1728, Platform 5.2.0.96). I believe that is the highest softwAre I can have right now. I have no added apps besides app world just the ones that were on the phone to begin with.
The other problems that started recently would be my keys lock up every once in awhile. I need to either hold down the trAckpad or press buttons and it will start responding eventually. It some times does this in bunches like every few minutes some times it doesn't do it for awhile. Some times the "A" button doesn't respond at all other times it randomly types A few times. Then other times It randomly types A's alt the "*". My phone will turn off but the power button won't turn it bAck on. I have to reboot the phone if I turn it off. Every time I turn it off it says phone can next be used or something like that on july 28th 12 Am which is when I have an event set. So here's a list of the problems
Phone comes unresponsive specifically when the backlight goes off (when phone isn't being used and screen turns blAck/ nothing on screen)
"A" button acts funny
Phone will turn off without A problem, won't turn on unless battery pull takes place.
Gets stuck in alt mode from time to time which happened when phone was completely locked up. And I couldn't get it out of the alt mode.
There is no mark of water damage at All the box of the inside of my phone is completely white. I've also had the phone about A yeAr. It will be A year some time next week.
Any help will be appreciated thank who ever it may be in AdvAnce.HiJMic19,
