Starting loaded content in a windowless player

If I use windowed activation (giving a valid HWND to the Flash PLayer in the GetWindow function is enough to trigger this), the player will run the loaded swf file. However, if I use windowless activation, the loaded file does not run, only the very first frame is displayed. This article claims that I'm supposed to call
DoVerb(OLEIVERB_SHOW, NULL, (IOleClientSite *)this, 0, NULL, NULL);
However, this does not have any effect. What am I doing wrong?
Since I made this post, I found out that it returns -2147467259, which is not a known HRESULT, but certainly not 0. What does it mean?
More information: After some more digging I found out that the return value is OLE_E_NOTRUNNING.

I have found the problem. Before this call, I was doing:
hr = _shockwaveFlash->put_WMode(BSTR("opaque"));
BUT I blatantly ignored the HRESULT there. It made the Flash Player confused, because it is not a valid way to insert a BSTR constant in the code (which is a wide string). Correctly:
hr = _shockwaveFlash->put_WMode(L"opaque");

I have a really strange problem and couldn't find any information over the internet.
The problem only occurs in flash player 9.0.47.0. It works in all the others players, newer and older..

Maybe FP9 does not support your application / swf file? How did you develop it?

Nokia E71x browser no longer loading content corre...

I have had my Nokia E71x since September and until now everything has worked fine. A couple of days ago when I tried to use the browser, it started loading the content differently. So now when I goto my AT&T Media Net homepage, the page is off centered and no longer loads pages with lots of content correctly. Other webpages like google will load fine.
I took the phone into an AT&T device service facility and tried to master reset the phone. That did not work. Then we exchanged the phone for a different one and that did not work. We switched SIM cards and everything but could not figure out what was going on. We tried multiple phones and the same problem came up with each different phone.
Is anyone else out there having this problem with their Nokia E71x on AT&T?
Anyone have a solution to the problem?

Try clearing cookies and cache:

Flash content in Windows Media Player

Can Flash Content play in the Windows Media Player? I don't see it as a supported file type but found this on the Microsoft site:
...you must have Adobe Flash 9 installed to play Flash content through Windows Media Player. If Flash 9 is not installed, a dialog box that contains the following text prompts you to install Flash 9

I looked up the internet but can't find anything on this. As no replies here too I guess I'm the only one. The other thing that struck me is the enormous CPU usage when playing flash in the browser. Up to 95%-100% cpu usage when playing HD flash content. First I assumed it was a Flash issue but Internet Explorer never used more then 35%-55%. I then assumed it was just Flash in Safari. Strange thing is, if I maximize the window the cpu load actually drops to 55%. I only get high cpu usage when flash is played in the Safari window. I guess that means it's something to do with the browser and not an isolated flash 'bug'.
Also still no luck playing WMV in the browser itself. Maybe time to look for yet another browser. A shame as I like the Safari browser a lot. MobileMe and iPhone are great to sync bookmarks and the look and feel is great. The engine is not so good unfortunately.

If it's taking several hours then that is likely due to your internet connection. You can verify at speedtest.net
6mbps required for instant 720P
8mbps for 1080P
You can switch to SD in the settings (which only requires 3mbps)
You can also check istumbler or netstumbler for interference
Make sure you are on your ISPs DNS
The reloading is normal. There is no accessible storage on ATV. The small flash is used for caching streamed content, if you access other things or turn the device off it will be flushed.

Load content in another viewing space... Button..Viewer..Video..Panorama.. Carousel..Dreamw..Flash..

I made a site with a custom player to show video. I made my own buttons in Flash. On type showed while hovering over the played video and are used for controlling play/pause - button for homepage and two buttons for the next or previous gallery. The other type are underneath the playing video and let you pick thumbnails whose links were shown in the player window.
First I wanted to use a carousel (Lee Brimelow) for the second type of buttons, but I couldn't integrate these with the rest of the player code (my flash-code knowledge is rather limited).
Later on I wanted to show a panorama wich I only got to work with the Away3D-method. In this case I couldn't integrate it with any other code, so I used Dreamweaver to let a viewer choose thumbnails. One can navigate in the viewer window by dragging in the window, so I left out the other navigation buttons within the player window, mentionned earlier.
Now I am thinking of this concept:
- Button(s) for Homepage and (Next/Previous) gallery;
- Viewer window, with
- timeslider and Play/Pause button integrated in case of a video or slideshow;
- dragging in case of a Panoramic view;
- Carousel for picking a subject that will be shown in the Viewer window.
Question:
- Can I combine these 3 types of the concept as Flash-movies and buttons/carousel in Dreamweaver and still have the carousel control the viewer window?
or:
- Should I do all in Flash and make a personal Flashplayer (like I did before) and study more Flash?
What tutorials could I take a look at? (For instance I found a lot of sites about how to make a carousel. I don't know how to make it control a viewer window (to make it load content in another window or space.)

Just wanted to clarify a few things to try and eliminate what could be causing the problem.
1. You are using rtmps protocol. Do you have SSL certificate configured and port 443 enabled?
2. When you tried playback via the hosted OSMF player was it via rtmps?
3. The standard way the request url is protocol://server-domain-or-IP/fms-app-name/[fms-app-instance-name/][codec-prefix:]file-pa th[filename-extension]. Could you try with that?
I tried to reproduce your issue with simple rtmp prtocol and here are my observations/suggestions :
1.When I first entered the source url I got the error you mentioned : "The video player is in the connection error state." However, when I publish the same .fla again it works fine.
2. When you are placing the on a computer on the same network and running the html in the browser, it might not have permission to access the network. You will generally get a pop-up saying "Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe option". In any case, in your Flash player settings manager you can go to the Advanced tab and add the location of the folder containing the swf as a Trusted location and then try to reload the page again. I get the "status bar spin" when the folder did not have permissions.
3. Also, when you try playback via Share Point can you go back to FMS and check if a connection request has actually come to the server. You can check under the access logs in root_install/logs or the application logs under root_install/logs/_defaultVHost_/vod/

"error occurred while loading content" ?

Curious if anyone is having the same problems with their Apple TV.
It first started when we tried to rent episodes from Apple. We'd purchase the episode, it would be ready for veiwing, and after about 5 mintutes the "error occured while loading content". We'd go over to netflix and I could watch old episodes of various tv shows without a problem. Downloading a movie rental in HD would also take up to 5 or 10 minutes.
I checked our wireless modem - everything was working fine.
I reset the network settings on the Apple TV and checked that it was up to date. Also reset all the username/password stuff.
That did the trick for about a week and now we're having the same problem.
Thoughts anyone?

I'm somewhat convinced that errors on the network (or for that matter over HDMI) can cause corruption of the Apple TV. In such cases restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, usually does enough to reset things.

TS3623 I paused my rented movie on Apple TV. Now I continuously get an "Error loading content" and it won't play. I've turned it off/on, reset, etc., no luck.

Four minutes into my movie, I paused it to answer the phone. Now I can't get it to come back on. I've held the center button on the remote to turn off the Apple TV, then turned it back on, my internet connection is fine, I've tried starting it over from the beginning. It just won't come back on. Meanwhile, since I started the movie, my 24-hour time-limit to watch it is ticking down.
This is annoying! Any possible solutions? I get "error loading content" a lot - more than reasonable. Usually with Netflix, but sometimes this happens with iTunes movies as well.

Can't find my loaded content on itunes

just got a computer with windows 8. Started loading my albums to my itunes library. All of the sudden I can't find my loaded content and can only see my purchased music in itunes. It is still on the computer but I can not see it in itunes

For syncing my phone, however, I am automatically sent to the iTunes page, and to the sync/device screen I want. After I sync, though, it's gone and I can't view my other details. The only reliable way back there is to unplug the phone and plug it in again. Fair enough, I guess. But, weirdly, the little phone icon does sometimes show up (by the menu upper left) and will let me back in, but there's no rhyme or reason to when or why. It's funny - kinda like some random game of Whack-a-Mole.

Javascript not loading content after updating from firefox 26 to 27

on my site i have a page on which javascript pre-loads the content and then shows it.
this thing was working perfectly fine on firefox 26 but soon as i updated to firefox 27
the content doesn't show after loading
Like i have an image for 'loading content' which first appears and then the loaded content
shows up. This image is still showing in version 27 but the content which shows after is not showing at all.
I inspected the page and the divs and content is there but its just not visible somehow.
Please help me with this problem .. im stuck with this if it doesn't show up. Thanks.

actually its working on all other browsers, the content is showing.
but its not working on firefox 27. what problem could it be which is preventing version 27 from loading the content when its working just fine on version 26 (i just checked it on a different system with version 26).
also there was an instance when the same content wasn't loading on version 26 also but it was a problem due to some pinterest script. once i removed it everything became just fine i.e. content started loading (on version 26). Now, if that helps in deducing the problem please help me out.

Loader content got vanish on resize root movieclip

I have made 30 dynamic movieclip and I put all these Movieclips in MainMovieclip, each movieclip loads one jpg image dynamically, when i resize root movieclip then
all graphics got invisible. How can i resize parent movieclip, I can't resize individual loader content because there is complex thing will happen where i need to calculate x y position and height widh for individual,so that i put all movieclip in root moviclip and I resizing root movieclip.

You likely already solved this issue...
As I understand it, X, Y, width, and height are only read from the first frame of a loader object. Check to make sure that the content on the first frame of your object that your loading is the same size as the content of the entire object. In other words, if you have content on frame 50 that's 200 px wide in total from the registration point of x=0 y=0, and your content on frame 1 is only 100px wide, you'll need to add a transparent object on frame one (starting at x=0 y=0) that is also 200 px wide. If I understood your issue correctly, this should solve the problem. You can easily do a trace on the size of the object your loading to be sure that it's sizing correctly.

BB10 Internet Browser - loading content window

Hello,
I am new at using BB10 and have an issue with the Internet browser.
After I open a web site that has a lot o contents ( usually is Jalopnik site) I get interupted by a player that lasts around 2 seconds that loads a black page with writting on it "Loading content". This is annoing because if I have the music player opened it will pause it.
Is there an option to turn this thing off?

Problems loading songs into flash mp3 player

I am very new to actionscript, and I am still trying to learn some of the basics, but I'm getting there, understanding it better with help from great forums like this one.
I have a music community website, visitors can sign up, upload mp3 files, their files get uploaded into their own folder named '$id' in the php code, (if they are the 10th member to sign up, their folder would be named 10, and so on)
I have a prebuilt flash player that I want to playback the mp3 files just for that member when their profile is being viewed, I have some code in the mp3 upload script that automatically writes an xml file to their folder containing their song data, with Andrei1's help, I got that part working using flashvars, now the problem I am having is that I can't get the songs to play back, the data is there but no music.
as I said I am using a prebuilt flash player that is using a static call to a directory, so should I use flashvars again to load the mp3 files into the player? and I also need help figuring out what to change in the actionscript.

I'm starting to build my own flash player based on what I have learned here, I just have to figure this part out and I'm good to go.

this is where the movie looks for mp3 files, when I downloaded this prebuilt player, the line looked like this

this is the part I am trying to figure out how to change, if I were to have all the members mp3 files go into the mp3_files folder, the player works fine, no problems at all, but I don't want all the members mp3s in one folder, they need to be in each members folder(which I have it set up to do) and I can't figure out how to change the "http://www.mydomain.com/mp3_files" to http://www.mydomain.com/members/$id, that's why I was asking if we add another value in the flash vars, again my inexperience with 2 way communication between as3 and php variables is what's choking me

I have been search around and got some mixed solutions,
summarized as follow:
If I need to load external swf into the main swf file, I need
to Loader with appropriate URLRequest for this purpose.
After loaded, you can listen to the complete event and
addChild the loader.content to the main swf.
Because I have a stop on the loaded swf first frame, I need
to start the swf with a button. Some solutions on the net pointed
that to make this happened, you need to cast the loader.content to
MovieClip and have to through a tricky way to accomplish it like

I tried this method and still got Type Coercion failed

Thanks WL, you are very close. I have a flash8 movie (purely
animation)
and I actually opened it in CS3 and saved as CS3. after
publishing that's the movie I am tring to load.
I recreate the whole animation in CS3 and everything start to
run as supposed to. By trace the loader.content I find out one is
[object AVM1Movie] for sudo as2 movie and [object MainTimeline] for
the pure as3 movie. Thanks again.
