Starting obiee weblogic services in linux after simple installation

Hi all,
I have installed OBIEE 11g on linux machine with "simple installation" option, i have following questions:
with simple installation, will weblogic server will get installed?
because i am not able to open the weblogic EM page, now do i have to manually start the weblogic services in linux, if so. Can anyone illustrate the steps.

Hi Gurus,
I have installed OBIEE 11g on Linux 32 bit machine, Procedure i used to follow to start the services, using putty:
1. Run ./startWeblogic.sh after it comes to running mode, it comes back to $
2. After it returns to $, i start nodeManager.sh
but now, after i do the first step from putty, though running mode has come, it is not coming back to $ where i can start the node manager, hence i am unable to start node manager from the $ console
Is this a server problem? pls help..
I did Ctrl+c and tried starting startWeblogic.sh again, but its again stopping at running mode and not returning to $
Kindly advice what can be done

we had run the scripts using nohup "nohup ./startWeblogicServer.sh &" and reopened putty to run other nodemanager and opmnctl scripts, now everything has started and working fine.

Running OBIEE 11g services for Linux

Hi everybody,
I would like to know the way to start OBIEE 11g services in a Linux (Red Hat) machine.
As far as I have seen in the web, there are four main steps to perform in order to make OBIEE running:
Run WebLogic.
Run NodeManager.
Run ManagedServer.
Run OBI Components (using OPMN).
The problem I have is that in our installation there is no ManagedServer (bi_server1). Therefore I deduce that OBIEE was installed as simple version (actually I don’t know where I can see whether it is simple or enterprise version). So the question in my case is: how to run OBIEE services without ManagedServer? Otherwise, is there any way to upgrade from simple to enterprise version, or I should just uninstall and then install the enterprise version?

Anyway, I'm still not able to make OBIEE available. If I execute the commands you provided me, I see some errors in corresponding created files. However, running them without nohup option and without any other parameter (just the .sh file), WebLogic appears available and OBI components seem to be running as well:

Issue with Weblogic services in Linux OBIEE 11G

Hello All,
I have a OBI 11G set up on a linux OS.I am facing a issue with weblogic service.
Whenever I am trying to start the Admin server from command line using its .sh , it is starting successfully.
But whenever I am closing that Linux session or coming out of the Admin server log , this service is getting stopped on its own.
OBI is working perfectly when that Linux session and Admin server log is intact, but as soon as i close either of them Admin server shut itself down.
Please any help on this will be appreciated.

Weblogic Startup Stuck While Starting OBIEE 11g Services

When starting OBIEE 11g, startup stuck with this message:

Hi, can u please explain in details how to remove locks and which locks u remove on Weblogic Admin Server ?
I met the same issues here and already try to remove :
a) $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<server_name>/tmp/<servermame>.lok
b) $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<server_name>/data/ldap/ldapfiles/EmbeddedLDAP.lok

Not able to start OBIEE (weblogic) server.

Hi,
While trying to start obiee 11g server, I am getting one error and it is stating as "FORCE SHUTTING DOWN". while checking the log file (Adminserver.log) it is telling that username/password is not valid in boot.properties file.
When I checked that file, within that username and password is correctly written (it is not in encrypted format). I have rename that file also in both adminserver folder as well as bi_server1 folder, but still same issue persists.
Please let me know what is the issue. Am I missing anything?

Your username and password are changed, may be due to invalid username and password typed.
So you check the boot.property file in following location and restart the services.

Unable to start the Weblogic 8.1 SP4 after updating the license

Hi All,
I am not able to start the Weblogic domain after updating the license using java -Xmx command. Actually i have three license files. 1)license.bea 2)license_isv.bea 3) license_scale_limited.bea. The file license_isv.bea is containing unlimited units. Actually we want 100 concurrent users to connect to weblogic. For that i updated the license. After updating the license i am getting the following error.

Initially i thought that it will be the CLASSPATH variable problem that is defined in startWeblogic.sh script. But we have around 8 domains. I am not able to start any of these domains. Even i tried to create a new domain also. Still i am getting the same error. Can anyone help me in this.

Not able to open Admin Tool in OBIEE 10.1.3.1 after the installation

Hi Friends,
After installing OBIEE (10.1.3.4.1 in Windows) i am not able to open Admin tool,when i click on the Administration it doesnt respond and i dont see any error message either.i have installed 10.1.3.1 several times before and i never faced this type of issue.I re-installed 4- 5 times and overwritten the existing s/w but still see the same issue.I am able to start the services and default RPD is working fine but not able to open the RPD and also i am able to launch the Catalog Manager.
I searched online but it didn't help me,please share if anyone has faced the similar issue before and found the resolution.

i tried to launch the Admin tool from OracleBI\server\Bin after the installation but its not responding,seems issue with Admin Tool as i am able to launch other applications.

Cannot start or stop my database anymore after CMAN installation

Dear Experts,
I added CMAN on my server (9iR2 on W2K) this morning. Unfortunately I can't start the listener anymore. I've got 3 instances on this server and I can't start/stop any of this instance and services anymore. I did use oradim, Services control panel...
It looks like my server is suddenly is in a "bad health". It was working fine prior to CMAN installation, is there any other step I should go through after this installation ?
Any clue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have sent the email to the SAP Support as well.
I have checked that <sid>adm has permitted to create files in /tmp, however I have again set the permission.
Logged in as a root .
chmod 777 /var/tmp/**
chmod 770 /tmp/**
After performing these commands I am still getting the same error.
Now what next I will do?

Weblogic startup stucked while starting OBIEE 11g services

Below is an excerpt(last 3 lines) from the wls startup screen , i.e. While starting BI services .

After this screen , nothing happens ! Please suggest how to TROUBLESHOOT .

Try to stop all the services and force kill any pending sessions from OS and try re-starting .?

Unable to start OBIEE 11g services

I restored my Laptop to previous system timestamp. and Installed Bitdefender Internet security on top of my resoted system.
Before this process, I used to login into obiee Answers. After This restoring Process,when i start BI services, I am getting
this following error. unable see the login screen
Please advice me. how to handle this situation.

Thank for the reply, I have been restarting my Biservices sevaral times !! Had been fightiing with this problem couple of days.
Does my Internet security can block the something related to BIserver / presentation services components ???
or How to check if I missed anything in restoration process ??, but I have been using OBIEE since a month. I resoted my mechine to couple of days back.

OBIEE Presentation Services Service Does not Start

I am unable to start OBIEE Presentation Services ,
i am getting the following error: The Oracle BI Presentation Server service terminated with service-specific error 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF).
i tried some of the solutions posted in these forums, Still i am not able to start my OBIEE Presentation Server service. except the presentation services, i am able to start all other OBIEE services.
i have my OBIEE installed on a Windows 2003 Server. i was able to start presentation services before configuring OBIEE Scheduler, but after configuring the OBIEE Scheduler i am not able to start the presentation services.
Please Help me, what should i do ?

hmmm... it's better once you send me the instanceconfig.xml file to my mail you find in my profile.
if you want you can remove you hostname instead of that you keep any word xxx :)
As per my knowledge you might have added the <SubjectAreaMetadata> tag if not, in 9th step of venkat's blog http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/09/13/oracle-bi-ee-10133-configuring-delivers-ibots/ you might have done wrong...
Check the spelling once again with that and path you are mentioning in this tag also important. Please make sure that you have put this tag before
+</ServerInstance>+
+</WebConfig>+ .....tags
And also try start of presentation server by removing this tag you added in instanceconfig.xml, if it's running then this is the problem...
