Static LOV work around

Hi,
I have a list of items (static) that I need to input into LOV. The list is so long and it will be used by many LOVs. I wonder if there is a way that I can use SQL statement to accomplish this?
My client doesn't want to create a look up table in their database. I can only use something termporary.
Can I use PLSQL table? And use a function to return the value of PLSQL table, then select the function in a SQL statement?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Chinglan

Not trying to get you fired here or anything, but who knows more about a database... you or your client? If the LOV is going to be used many times, especially if it could change, or just because there are a lot of values to maintain, then a lookup table is by far the best way to go.
As for your work around question. Yes, it is possible to create a table in a PL/SQL block, populate it, select from it, and then drop it.
However, your initial thought is the better way to go.

  • Bug Report: Static LOV's and PDF Printing with Tabular Forms

    I have a tabular form, which acts as an editable report. Some columns are 'Standard Report Column' and some are Select Lists, using Static LOV's with the contents of
    Yes;Y,No;NThe purpose of the page is to allow users to edit yes/no attributes of a row. Then, they can print the report.
    To make the current sort of the report reflect what is being printed to PDF, I've used a Report Layout associated with the report region, as oposed to a report query. A report query in this case would not reflect the sort of the report (all columns are sortable asc/desc).
    Anyway, I link my report with the layout created, and go to run it. I get this message.
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 50: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "," when expecting one of the following: := . ( @ % ; The symbol ":= was inserted before "," to continue.
         Error      ERR-1000 Unable to determine LOV from "declare function x return varchar2 is begin Yes;Y,No;N return null; end; begin wwv_flow_utilities.g_query := x; end;".
    OK
    report error:
    ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-01403: no data foundI'm guessing the product is trying to take my static LOV and place it in a function to be able to generate which value is being displayed as text, from the select lists. However, it doesn't work.
    I've been able to get around it - by adding a YES_NO domain to my domain_codes table (a table which associates abreviations with full meanings), I can set by select lists to be query based select lists using the SQL select code_meaning, code from domain_codes where domain = 'YES_NO_CODE'. This still allows the user to dropdown Yes/No fields, and the PDF printing doesn't break.
    It is just me, or can't the PDF printing handle static LOV's in tabular forms/reports?

    Hi Patrick.
    I've tried STATIC:Yes;Y,No;Nwhile stating it is a Select List (static LOV). The values that are rendered on the page are
    [STATIC:Yes]
    [No        ]
    ----------I tried the same thing with STATIC2 instead of STATIC, and the same thing happened.
    It also broke if I tried STATIC or STATIC2 under Select List (query based LOV). This is within a report where there is no hyperlink to say 'Create/Edit static list' or 'Create Dynamic List', as there is under select list items.
    However, I am finding that for some reason, the values being sent to the PDF are not the values in the database (Y/N), but the showing values (Yes/No). This happens when I use the domain_code select query as the query based LOV.
    Furthermore, I cannot get any columns not rendering on the page to be generated in the PDF. I have a column that groups items depending on values, and I want this grouping to display in the PDF instead on the original value, ideally.
    Cheers,
    K.

  • Insane XML Import, Huge Project, Duplicate file names work around...

    I planned on kicking off my journey attempting to edit a massive multi year documentary on FCPX with a nice introduction of the blog I'm going to keep about the experience, but I've run into a bit of a roadblock, or maybe major speed bump at least before even getting to that point. I wanted to share what is working as a work around for me and you guys can tell me how I'm doing it wrong.
    Ok, I will try to explain this as succinctly as possible. I'll write in somewhat stream of consciousness just to try and get through it quicker... Basically, after discovering the work around below, I am now utterly confused on how FCPX handles the relationship between its own database of where media is stored, and the actual media itself. I have plenty experience on FCPX now, probably done 30-40 pro commercial jobs on it over the last year since XML became doable as I'm also a Resolve Colorist and all the FCPX projects where hardcore coloring product spots. For commercial work, I never needed to worry about splitting up footage up over multiple Events. Everything, all in one, FCPX handled it no problem. (well the occasional beach ball, but that seems to be a thing with FCPX in general)
    This will be my 10th feature documentary as an Editor. Every one before it was either on Avid's many flavors over the last 12 years or FCP Studio. When this new film came along, I made the decision a few months ago to use FCPX for a few reasons, but mostly because I'm insane and I like to try to mix it up for myself in a career that can get stale quick if you aren't willing to be that way. The film was shot over 2+ years, every shoot was multi cam 5D (yes i know, looks great, but please kill me), I haven't done the math on length, but there is over 10,000 clips of video (this is actually medium in size compared to what I've dealt with before). Its 5D, so theres external audio for everything. FCPX's syncing is great, but I've learned that theres an unsaid window of heads and tales clips must fall within to sync properly with the nearby clips, if they are too far apart FCPX gives up. One shoot day could have 3 cams, 50 clips each, and 2 audio files to sync to, FCPX simply cannot handle this, so off to Plural eyes they went, no problems.
    Ok, all this is relevant eventually I swear! Again, in the past, all in one event, no problem. I tried for fun to bring all media into one Event on this film. It worked, but there is a 10+ second spinning beach ball for every single move you make, so thats no good. Ok, I'll separate the Events out to, lets say, each shoot month. Well that's dumb, in verite documentary, any shot could be the first, any shot could be the last, you need a command over all searchable footage at all times. Shift selecting all events to search *****, and it actually takes longer for FCP to reload each event each time than it does to just have the one massive one. So no go there. Next hair brained idea... What if make a new Event that is just Compound Clips of all the other Event's contents and do more with Markers and Favorites in logging that I was planning to parse it all out. That way I'm working with and FCPX is dealing with 50-60 clips instead of 10,000+ Quick test, Cmd-A, Opt-G, boom, boom, boom, move all to dedicated to Event, hide huge Event, BEHOLD, that works! FCPX chokes a little bit on the insane length of some of the clips, but searching, and general performance is back on par!
    So your saying to yourself "Ok *********, sounds like you figured it out, what's the problem." Well to you I say, "Not so fast!" Remember, that was just a quick test using the media I had imported into the massive 10,000+ clip Event. To do this project proper, I am having to import Multicam sync'd XMLs from Plural Eyes. And this is where it all starts to fall apart. A little foreshadowing for your eager eyes. 10,000+ files all shot with multiple 5D's over the course of years. What does that mean? many, many duplicate file names!
    FCPX as well all know irritatingly imports XML's as new Events, not into existing ones. This obviously takes a lot of burden off media management because with a new Event comes a new database referencing its own version of the raw media. All well and good, and I'm betting its starting to click for some if you advanced users where I'm finally going with this. So I have 50 or so XMLs to bring in, all done no problem. Now I want to replicate that singular Event like I did with the Compound Clip test and have it all in one place to be my master as extensive logging begins for easy searching once editing begins. Highlight the Events, click Merge Events. NOPE. I get a new "Kill Yourself Now" error (a term I coined for Out of Memory and General Error messages in FCP Legacy meaning there ain't much you can do about it): "Two or more files have the same name. Change the names and try again, because I don't know what the **** to do with them." Ok I made up that last part but that's basically what it's saying. Just take the variable out of the equation, this happens with every which way you could try to get the clips together. Merge Events, dragging events on top of each other, dragging just the Multicam clip alone, nothing gets passed that message. What's worse is that while Batch Renaming seems like a solution, the renames do not populate inside the created clips and there is no way to Batch Rename those. Renaming everything at the finder level isn't so great because then I'd have to resync and theres an offline/online thing going here where the film has to be reconformed eventually.
    Basically, I've found that FCPX handles media management in completely different ways depending on whether you are importing into one Event yourself or doing essentially what is a new import with FCPX moving or merging Events. If you bring in all the media to one Event, on a macro level FCPX goes through file by file making aliases referencing the master file. If it hits a duplicate, it makes a parenthesis counter, and keeps going. And with the genius of FCPX metadata, that file name doesn't even matter, you can change it at the Finder level and FCPX will keep the link intact. BUT for some reason if you try to do this outside the realm of a single Event and combine files after the fact a different process takes over in creating this database system and can't handle the duplicates. I can't totally figure the reason other than it probably is scared to change the originally referenced alias to something else (which it shouldn't be scared of since Merge Events deletes the original anyway).
    This is where it gets INSANE and where I lose all understanding of what is going on, and believe me it was a delicate understanding to begin with. It comes in to play with the work around I figured out. I make the master Event with the 10,000+ clips. Then I import all the XMLs as dedicated Events. Now, I then drag the Multicam clips into the master Event, it WORKS! just takes it, no "Kill Yourself Now" error. Stranger still, now with the switched referenced Event, it even takes into account which aliased duplicate file name it's referencing in the Original Media folder. Somehow, it's taking into account the original file path and saying "Ok, I see 5 instances of MVI_5834.mov. Based on the original file path or maybe creation date or god knows what, it must be MVI_5834 (fcp3).mov." It connects perfectly. I can even remove the old XML imported Event with no problem. Crazier yet, I can now move those again to the dedicated Event I wanted originally that only contains those Multicam or Compound Clips.
    So instead of going straight from A to C, going from A to B to C works even though that actually seems way more complicated. Why can't FCPX handle Merge Events and dragging clips the same way it handles media imported into a single Event. And weirder still, why can't FCPX handle the (fcp1,2,3...) appending in the same scenario. But if the appended links are already there, No Problem. And for the love of god, it'd be nice to important XML's into existing Events and make the correct referencing happen right from the get go, which is really the source of all the above headache. I'd have no problem helping FCPX with a little manual pointing in the right direction just like any other NLE needs.
    Ok, having said all of that crap above, my question is, have I missed something completely simple I should have done instead? Now that I have everything in place how I originally envisioned, I think I will still play around a little bit more to make sure FCPX is really going to be able to handle this project. I'm at a stage right now where going another direction is still an option, although the dare devil in me wants to make this work. Media management aside, once you start editing on a FCPX timeline, its hard to go back to anything else. Apple is going to have to figure out some way not to access to everything at all times to work fluidly or big projects like this are never going to be practical in FCPX.
    Sorry for the long confusing post....

    I'm having the exact same problem, but I know nothing of ruby scripts. I've exhausted my resources with tech support, and after literally hours of work with them it seems I now am faced with either re-rating each individual song, or pointing iTunes to each song that it can't locate. Is yours a solution that could help me? How can I find out more about Ruby Scripts? Thanks for your help, hellolylo (or anyone else who might also be able to help...)

  • The Ipod cannot sync - disk cannot be read from or written to - Work around

    I have been having the same problem and have talked to Apple support several times. It seems like the major problem is with Windows xp media center edition. They got back to me today with not a solution, but a work around. It seems to be working so far. If you are running media center edition open device manager and expand universal serial bus controlers by clicking on the + sign (with the itouch not connected) If you see "standard enhanced pci to usb host controller...right click on it and choose disable. Close device manager and reconnect your itouch to the computer. The sync will be much slower but it seems to be working for now. I spoke to a level 2 product specialist, and he was very helpful in giving me this "work around". He promises to get back to me with a fix asap. In that event I'll post the fix here.
    Thanks,

    Yes yes this worked for me too! ***?
    I have Windows Media Center as well. I have tried EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING including reinstalling my OS. I have spent all of yesterday and all of today not to mention much time over the last few months trying to get it to work better. Not since getting my iPod have I ever been able to get everything to sync. Restores simply resulted in movies that previously worked not working and ones that didn't start to work. Oh and this is my third individual one. Seriously this works, but is a pain because now a single movie takes about 20 minutes or so to copy. Lame. Well I am going to call Apple tech support and mention this to them and also put something into feedback. It is ******** that people have to jump through so many hoops to get this to work. Apple is lucky this isn't my sister or my girlfriend. Anybody who doesn't have much experience with computers would be lost.
    Thanks though! Same here, you saved my life as I was seriously ready to throw this out the window, as much as I love it! :O
    Apple, please do something about this.

  • Work around for spry:repeat="ds1 ds2" limitation

    I need to have both data sets repeat when using a Spry repeating region:
    <div id="apDiv4" spry:region="ds1 ds2">
        <table class="sprytable" border="1">
          <tr>
            <th spry:sort="Q#">Q#</th>
            <th spry:sort="Category">Category</th>
            <th spry:sort="Question">Question</th>
            <th spry:sort="You">You</th>
          </tr>
          <tr spry:repeat="ds1 ds2">
            <td>{ds1::Q#}</td>
            <td>{ds1::Category}</td>
            <td>{ds1::Question}</td>
            <td>{ds2::You}</td>
          </tr>
        </table>
    </div>
    If I use ds1 in the spry:repeat, ds1 data will repeat (but ds2 will use the first value); or if I specify ds2, ds1 will use the first value.
    I need them both to repeat.
    I have spent so much time in forums, etc. and can't seem to find a workaround.
    My only work around is to combine ds1 and ds2 and reload them together from the server - yuk!
    ds1 is fixed and large. ds2 is small and dynamic so reloading really sucks.
    Following are the ds Vars - probably irrelevent:
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "rsfamily", {sortOnLoad: "Q#", sortOrderOnLoad: "ascending" }); ds1.setColumnType("Q#", "number"); var ds2 = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("youranswersIRtab.php", "youranswerstab", {}); I will worship the person who gives me an idea.
    Thanks

    Thanks V1, timkho and coolsanwa for your thoughts.  Since you've been so patient (and understanding) let me briefly tell you what I'm trying to do.
    I'm considered good at multi-dimensional databases and have recently fallen in love with DreamWeaver to build a pretty complex site so I don't have to be a real expert at PHP, Spry, Ajax, JavaScript, DOM, HTML, CSS etc (I suck, but most everything is working).
    I wish I could point you to a site but I need to keep it secret for a bit - its strictly on my PC for now.
    Let me explain the snippit, which I still don't have working .
    ds1 has three columns and ds2 has one.
    ds1          ds1               ds1                         ds2               ds3
    Q#          Category         Question                 You               Compare1
    1          Boats               How big?                    24               36
    2          Boats               What color?               Blue               Red
    3          House               Number rooms?          3                    6
    4          House               Sq feet?                    1000               3000
    5          House               Have garage?               No               Yes
    etc to 200+
    ds1 doesn't change and I don't want to reload it
    ds2 are your saved answers (I will have a form to fill in and a Submit-  different subject)
    ds3 is user selected comparisons, retrieved from a MD database (academic because ds2 has me stopped).
    Category has table row classes (to whole row), which will drive Tabbed Panels.
    ds1, ds2, ds3 data have the class assigned to each row (setRowSelector) classes for columns(setColumnSelector).
    I want a Spry Table with its many neat features (eg. sorting) that combines the 3 ds's (lets worry about 2 for now).
    Incredibly simple but I'm stuck.
    Timko suggestion results in syntax error- removing single quotes.
    Collsanwa suggestion creates new columns so repeat is done for each row after You column:
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    24,Blue,3,1000,No
    200+ times
    (I'll repeat the snippit) . Could you point me to an explanation for the spry:if  id/mmid
    Thanks so much.
    <div id="apDiv4" spry:region="ds1 ds2">
        <table class="sprytable" border="1">
          <tr>
            <th spry:sort="Q#">Q#</th>
            <th spry:sort="Category">Category</th>
            <th spry:sort="Question">Question</th>
            <th spry:sort="You">You</th>
          </tr>
          <tr spry:repeat="ds1">
            <td>{ds1::Q#}</td>
            <td>{ds1::Category}</td>
            <td>{ds1::Question}</td>
            <td spry:repeat="ds2" spry:if="'{ds1::id}' == '{ds2::mmid}'">{ds2::You}</td>
    <!--    <td spry:repeat="ds2" spry:if="{ds1::id} == {ds2::mmid}">{ds2::You}</td>   Syntax error w/o quote-->
          </tr>
        </table>
    </div>

  • Work around for JSF lack of XHMTL standards

    Has anyone come up with a work around for the fact that JSF cannot produce XHTML documents? Anyone know why they went this route?
    Thanks,
    David

    BTW, one more thing: the JSF RI uses the HTML/XHTML
    hybrid output strategy (output that works for both),
    but the JSF APIs are sufficient to let a single
    RenderKit output pure HTML and pure XHTML depending
    on (for example) the client's browser, without
    changing a single line of Renderer code!I don't quite understand how this "magic method" will help me get around the RI's insistence upon generating non-XHTML-compliant markup. UISelectBoolean rendered as a checkbox is an example:
    <input id="_id74:_id75:0:selected" type="checkbox" name="_id74:_id75:0:selected" checked />The offending code is found in HtmlResponseWriter, which renderes Boolean value attributes in a way incompatible with XML.
    I'd love to write my own XHTMLResponseWriter, but how do I plug it in? In order to overrwride createResponseWriter(), I have to create my own render kit. I can do that, but that doesn't help the existing RI CheckboxRenderer, which is already defined in another render kit.
    It seems a shame to have to write a completely new renderer when the existing RI CheckboxRenderer is logically sound---it just uses a faulty (as far as XHTML is concerned) response writer.

  • Static LOV functions differently in 9.0.2 from 9.0.1

    In my previous Portal applications under IAS 9.0.1 I had several static LOV's that contained the following structure:
    DISPLAY VALUE RETURN VALUE
    Login User Name #PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_user
    This worked as expected, the user sees the display of 'Login User Name' in a drop down list on a form, but the users login name was actually inserted into the table when Insert is selected.
    I've since upgraded IAS to 9.0.2 (no patchsets installed)
    This same LOV no longer works. What gets insert into the table is the string "PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_user" and not the users name, as before.
    I know I can kluge something similar into a dynamic LOV but does anyone know why this function call no longer works? I have several similar LOV's that get sequence number nextval's in a similar fashion and they no longer work either.
    Thanks

  • Radiogroup static LOV only displays the first label.

    I have a simple static LOV for a radiogroup item, but it won't show the 2nd label. It is the second radio group item on the page and the first works fine.
    2nd LOV:
    STATIC2:Yes;1,No;2
    Any suggestions, please?

    The first LOV happens to use the escape character of a bar STATIC2(|,;) because I have numbers with commas in the label (e.g., $5,000).
    If I put the 2nd LOVE before the first by changing the sequence, it works, but I don't want it before the one with the escape character.

  • STATIC LOV COLORS

    I have created a select list in a report with
    static LOV.
    Does anyone know how to change the font
    color of each option in the select list?
    Example for options 1,2,3
    something like this:
    <font color="red">1</font> .... red
    <font color="green">2</font> ... green
    <font color="blue">3</font> ... blue
    Thanks

    Thanks marife
    for the good suggestion. It seems that the colour
    pattern works absolutely fine but the problem is that
    it creates another line for each option and
    makes the select list a bit difficult difficult to read.
    By the way i am using htmldb_item.select_list
    and not an actual select list.
    If you have any better suggestions let know
    thanks,

  • Table Filter with static LOV column

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.14 and ADF-BC in my project.
    For one of the tables,I have the following scenario.
    1. I have a viewobject [Ex: EmpVo] in which one of the attributes has a static LOV[:Ex: 'Status' attribute in EmpVo has static LOV - StatusLOV with values A - Active I - Inactive].
    2. EmpVo -- > Employee table which stores A and I as status values in database
    3. Display this view object as table in jsff page.
    In the jsff page, when filter is enabled, for the status column I am able to filter only using 'A' and 'I'.
    But actually filter has to work with 'Active' and 'Inactive' as filter values.
    Please suggest the best way to implement filter in this scenario
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Take a look at the following article:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/16-custom-table-filter-169145.pdf
    Here, for LOV's you could have an LOV as a filter component instead of the default inputText component.

  • Working around DB outages

    Does anyone have a strategy for working around DB outages when calling a database? For example, if I run a query, and that query takes more than 5 seconds, how do I cancel the query so my app doesn't hang waiting for the query to return?
    Sidebar - do you have any idea how to do this with web service calls?

    Thank you, I am looking to see if the DB2 driver supports setQueryTimeout. That would be perfect I think.
    AJchell:
    Q: And how are you going to decide whether to use 5 seconds or not? What if one query takes 10 seconds on average?
    A: The queries are quick, if the database latency gets to be over whatever the threshold is, then I want to lay off it and use cached content instead of the real deal.
    Q: And what if the network is loaded so all queries take 10 seconds?
    A: Then I hit my cache (I don't think this is a possibility, but you never know).
    Q: And what do you do with updates? Telling the user it didn't work after 5 seconds when it actually did work after 15 probably isn't going to be a good idea.
    A: I agree with you, I forgot to mention that this is not transactional, therefore there are no updates. All select queries.
    Q: And why worry about this in the first place? If the user gets a failure back in 5 seconds versus 30 then what are they going to be doing with that extra time? They won't be able to use the database in either case after that until it comes back up.
    A: That's where the cache will come into play. 30 seconds is just too long per the requirements of this app.
    Q: And how often do you expect this to occur? Is it worth worrying about what the users are doing for 30 seconds once a year? (And yes I do know of cases where it is important but I know of many others where it isn't.)
    A: Not often. But the criticality of the app is high enough that 30 seconds (in reality would be more than that) is too much time for the app to be down. This is for a truely HA app.
    My plans -
    I think what I am going to do here is try to do the setQueryTimeout to x amount of seconds, and if that is hit, do not go to the database for y minutes in case of failure (using a static variable for DB down). So if there is an outage, I would bypass all DB calls until that DB comes back up (Which I will check for every y amount of minutes).
    Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

  • Bug in Static LOV definition in tabular form?

    I have always defined static LOVs as follows
    STATIC:Yes;Y,No;N
    but now with V4.0+ the select list at runtime appears as follows:
    STATIC:Yes
    No
    Suddenly the literal "STATIC" is appearing in the first display field.
    If I omit the word "STATIC:" from the definition, it seems to work fine. Was this an intentional change in the definition of static LOVs? If so, you then the developers need to update the help text for LOVs.

  • Static LOV

    Hi Experts,
    I'm new to apex. I created a report and it contains a LOV.
    Under the region, i have created a LOV item as select list with name P22_TRUE_FALSE_BOTH
    I have created a static lov defining the LOV definition as
    STATIC2:True;Y,False;N,Both; IN (Y,N)
    Return value Y and N is working, but when I give both, i need all the rows having Y and N, but its not working.
    what should I pass a return value ? Y&&N or Y:N ? Or we can use INSTR?
    The table column contains only Y and N values.
    I need to pass the third value which is combination of Y+N.
    I am using the below region source code to get the lov values
    "XX_TABLE"."COLUMN" LIKE NVL(:P22_TRUE_FALSE_BOTH,'%')
    Do i need to change like "XX_TABLE"."COLUMN" = :P22_TRUE_FALSE_BOTH ?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Renganathan

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response.
    But I'm not understanding the condition part.
    From the Lov, If B is passed,it takes the following substitute.
    WHERE( (B 'B' AND table.column=B)
    OR
    (B ='B'))
    There is no value 'B' in column.How It will fetch all the rows having Y and N?
    Thanks,
    Renga

  • Png work-around?

    I thought there was a way to work around the png problem by doing a screen capture and saving as a jpeg, then putting the file back into iweb. Has anyone tried this? Can't seem to find the thread that I saw before. My site takes too long to download because of the png conversion. What do you think?

    I don't think your site is particularly slow. However, yes, you can try to get around the PNG conversion by bringing in your JPGs exactly the size that you will be using them, so that iWeb doesn't have to do any processing of the images.
    As far as speed of page loading goes, you can consolidate all your static graphic elements into one jpg by taking a screenshot of the elements once you have them all placed in iWeb. Then delete the separate elements and bring the consolidated jpg screenshot back into iWeb, making sure that it is used at original size without any frames or shadows applied.
    I recommend an application called "Downsize". It allows you to specify the resolution as well as the amount of jpg compression to apply to your photos. It also lets you apply drop shadows and simple frames and rounded corners. And then you save all the finished images as jpg ready to go so iWeb uses them as is.

    Post here if you have any questions about this technique. I hope this helps. Good luck!

  • SQL query a Static LOV

    Hey everyone
    I'm trying to create a pivot report using a technique I'm reading on Ask Tom. In order to get it working I need to return the display values from a static LOV in a sub select statement without using the column attributes functionality available on page 422 of Apex.
    My static LOV has the following structure
    Display Return
    Monitorable 5
    Pay modifier/enabler 4
    Paid now and later 3
    Paid later 2
    Paid now 1
    My sub query has the following SQL where PAID_ID is equal to the return value of my Static LOV.
    select
    SCA.SCORE_ID AS "SCORE_ID",
    (SELECT MM1.TITLE FROM MET_METRICS MM1 WHERE MM1.MET_ID = SCA.MET_ID) AS "METRIC",
    (SELECT BU1.BU
    FROM MET_BU BU1,
    MET_SCORECARD MS1
    WHERE MS1.BU_ID = BU1.BU_ID
    AND MS1.SCORECARD_ID = SCA.SCORECARD_ID) AS "BUSINESS UNIT",
    SCA.PAID_ID AS "PAID_ID"
    from MET_SCORECARD_ALLOC SCA
    WHERE SCA.DELETED_BY IS NULL
    I'd like to replace PAID_ID with the display value of my LOV WITHOUT using the Column Attributes functionality available of page 422 of Apex.
    Is anyone able to advise whether it's possible to perform a join on the LOV directly in my sql query?
    Any assistance would be very much appreciated :)
    Dave

    Create a view for you LOV in de database :
    create or replace view v_display_return
    as
    select 'Monitorable' d, 5 v from dual
    union all
    select 'Pay modifier/enabler' d, 4 v from dual
    union all
    select 'Paid now and later' d, 3  v from dual
    union all
    select 'Paid later' d, 2  v from dual
    union all
    select 'Paid now' d, 1  v from dual
    ;Then you can use the view as the source of your LOV AND join it in your query.
