Statistical Net Income Migration

Hello guru's
I have come across an issue with the migration of Statistical Net Income values, from ECCS to a SEM-BCS 6.0 system.
We are loading the prior year RFD Trial Balance from the historic system into P12, via BI tools.
We are setting the period of 1st consolidation in config and in the master data as P13, and running first consolidation in P13. This eliminates the Investment & Share Capital.  Note, to exclude sub consol items from getting picked up in 1st consol, we are moving these values to a non consolidating movement type, and then reversing this in P14.
In P14, we put the sub consol values back to consolidating movemnt types, and we run the subsequent consolidation.
We then carry forward.
The problem is that the Statistical and Adjusted Statistical Net Income items are only populated with data with 1 years net income.
Should the values on these items be migrated from the old system, or should we try to get the new system to generate these entries correctly ?
Thanks

Eugene
You are right, the system should calculate what to populate these items with.
I believe the problem is that we have several years of NI, which each has been carried forward to PY RE.  When we run the subsequent consolidation it is only picking up the current years NI.
I think we need to migrate all PY RE into the CY RE, so that all post acquistion earnings from these units is pushed into the Statistical Items when the subsequent consolidation is run.
Thanks

  • Net Income account in General Ledger

    I have a requirement of finding out a period's (say June-00) Current Profit/loss(Income - Expenses) in GL.
I have enabled Average Balace Option in the Set of Books. I had specified a Net Income Account. Does Net Income account carry standard balances besides average balances? Is it equivalent to Profit / Loss figure for a period?
Any clarifications on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Can somebody

The net income account is defined a non-postable account to capture the net activity of all revenue and expense accounts. It stores the aggregate balances to compute the net income impact on the retained earnings average balances for any given period, quarter or year.
The primary difference between the non-postable net income account adn other balance sheet accounts, is that its balance does not roll forward when you open a new year. Instead, GL resets the account to zero when revenues and expenses are closed out to retained earnings at the end of the year.
You could query this account on line (Inquiry->Average) for the year end (Dec)to ensure that the defined net income account is resetting itself to zero.

  • Moving Net Income to Balance Sheet with Business Rule

    Hello,
The system is BPC 7.0 SP3, on SQL 2008
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.  I created a business rule that moves Net Income Year to Date to the Balance Sheet, and call it through logic.
The problem I am having is that all periods are calculating correctly except for Period 12.  The same number that is calculate for Period 11 is posted to Period 12.
The Time Dimension looks correct with it's prior and current and next properties.
Here is the Business Rule setup, all entries you do not see are NULL
Transformation Group        Source         Source DataSRC     Destination Account   Destination DataSRC
    CEYTD                                NetIncome     TOTALADJ             29210                          Input
    Reverse Sign                      YTD        Remark
    False                                    True        CEYTD
Here is the logic I use to call the stored procedure.
    *RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE=SPRUNCALCACCOUNT([%App%], [Actual], [USD], [%SCOPETABLE%], [%LOGTABLE%], [CEYTD], [99])
    *COMMIT
    *RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE=SPRUNCALCACCOUNT([%App%], [Actual], [LC], [%SCOPETABLE%], [%LOGTABLE%], [CEYTD], [99])
    *COMMIT
If anyone has experienced this issue before, I would really appreciate some help on how to resolve it.
    Thank you,
    Mark Glowczewski

    Hi
why not try the script logic in doing this it will be much more flexible
    Thanks

  • Move Net Income to Balance Sheet - MS version

    Hi experts,
I don't know what is the best practice to move net Income to Balance Sheet for MS version. I have already read on another thread that using "CALCACCOUNT" option could be the best.
However we have some problems with data of "M" type Datasrc. When we create a journal which modify Net Income data, we expect data copy to Balance Sheet, but Calccaccount seems not to work with this type of data.
Could you tell me how you solve this problem?
    Thank in advance
    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,
You would probably get better answers asking this question in the forum for the MS version of BPC. However, I believe you are on the right track with the account transformation business rules (*RUN_PROGRAM CALCACCOUNT, in the NW version).

  • Move net income to balance sheet - NW version

    Hi,
In BPC MS the function ROLLTOBS is used to move net income to balance sheet.
Now I'm using BPC NW (7.0.02) and I'm strugling to find a similar function. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    /Lars

    Lars,
I know this was quite some time ago, but I am having an issue getting this to work for me and I think I have everything setup correclty.  Here is a summary of what I've done:
    1.  added the process chain RUNCALCACCOUNT in DataManager
    2.  modified Finance application to allow Account transformations (calculations)
    3.  created Business Rule to take account NetInc from datasrc All_Sources to account YTDNI / datasrc Other_Input (case sensitive) - saved and validated in 2 individual steps
    4.  Created CALCACCOUNT.LGF script logic with the following and save and validate:
    "   *RUN_PROGRAM RUNCALCACCOUNT
         CATEGORY = ACTUAL
         CURRENCY = %RPTCURRENCY_SET%
         TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
         OTHER = [ENTITY=%ENTITY_SET%]
         *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
         *COMMIT    "
    5.  During testing, I select only one month and run the logic file directly thru DataManager then create a report to verify.
Any insigth you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

  • CT differences with Effect to Net income

    Hi,
I am running CT for the current month i.e July 2010.
For one of the company code (9019), it was showing two steps under differences as below:
CT differences without having effect on Net income: XXX amount
CT differences with EFFECT on net income 1200 USD
    Our group currency is USD
For all the months it will have postings like above, but with effect on NET income will be negligible i.e. always less than 1 USD. so there is no issue.
Now when I look into the balances using total records, the PNL items (All accounts) are equal to Zero in LC.
But In GC is showing the balance which is equal to USD 1200, exactly same amount as "CT differences with EFFECT on net income "
Could someone explain what is CT difference with effect of Net income and why PNL items in GC are not equal to zero.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Richard.

    Hi Dan,
The issue is resolved after following the steps provided by you.
Also i have done one more mistake of assigning  account type balance sheet instead of PNL in fs item, so it was mis leading the results.
In fact the issue is because of wrong accont type. But the solution provided by you works 100% but in the next period again i faced the same issue.
After correcting the account type the issue is resolved. Also executed previous month process again for better reporting.
Thanks a lot for your help provided. In the entire project you have helped a lot.
    Many thanks for your support.
    Regards,
    Richard

  • *Consolidated Retained earning or Net Income calculation*

    Hi.
I want to know how the Consolidated Retained earning or Net Income calculation will be done under BFC.
Is this will be done through Consolidation Rules? or Formulas?
    Please Reply.
    Thanks.
    Sarvesh Nikumbh

I would create a formula in category scenario which calculates the retained earnings account out of summation of p&l accounts.

  • Diference beetwen app of ret earnings in BALANCE Vs INCOME STAT

    Hi expert
Wich is the diference beetwen activate check in consolidation area settings
    Appropriation of retained earnings
    *in Balance Sheet
    *in Income Statement
how it work? is there any issue if I select one or if I select other
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    ARE in the Balance Sheet
If the appropriation of retained earnings is reported in the balance sheet, no special logic applies to subsequent consolidation, since the ARE items themselves are part of the reported equity data. In a divestiture or a transfer, the adjustment to group values from the triggering equity items is also posted to the allocated ARE items.
    ARE in the Income Statement
If ARE is reported in the income statement, the reclassification of minority interests is posted automatically and simultaneously within the ARE u2013 that is, within the income statement.
The entries for the statistical net income are derived from data reported for the ARE items, not from reported equity capital that affects net income.
If data from distribution of dividends items exists, the statistical net income will differ from the adjusted statistical net income, because the latter does not contain the effect from the distribution of dividends. The Distribution of Dividends activity is not reported explicitly, because the corresponding items are components of ARE in the income statement, and part of the reported equity data.
For more info searh in a SAP Help.
    Best regards,
    Lilia

  • Values for the automatic posting items are invalid

    Hi,
I'm doing two kinds of consolidations, both using its own Special Versions. IFRS and Local Accounting system (Portugal)
In IFRS the system it is working fine.
Although when I try to consolidate in Local Accounting, I have errors.
The customizing of the two special versions only differ in the consolidation of investments. In Local Accounting I have a different account in Net Income Prior to First Consolidation(Appropriation of retained earnings) and in Net Income Item of Statistical Net Income (Selected Items).
After doing this customizing, I tried the Consolidation of investments, and after executing the measure I have the following error "Values for the automatic posting items are invalid".
I can see the document that system is trying to post and everything seems fine. I only noticed that the statistical items are apeearing, which is not normal.
Do you what I'm missing or doing wrong?
    I'm new to BCS.
    Thanks in advance.
    João Arvanas

The message is most likely regarding the posting to the Retained Earnings item defined in Selected Items. I've seen this before and do not recall the specific solution but it entailed using a different item for this.
It may be that the COI setting for displaying the statistical items in the log is version-dependent. If so it may be turned off. I think this is in location of values.

  • Minority Interest in Subsequent Consolidation

    Hi Experts
Is there a way to ensure that the P&L account for MI is posted in the COI task for the Subsequent Consolidation activity?, we have scenarios with percentage of ownership < 100% that should generate the minority interest in P&L.
We have the proper configuration in the "Appropriation of Retained Earnings" --> "Net Income" --> "Minority Interest in Net Income" option. See following thread: SEM-BCS  Minority Interest in Income Statement
In the consolidation area we have selected the Appropiation of Retained Earnings "in Income Statement". See following thread: Diference beetwen app of ret earnings in BALANCE Vs INCOME STAT
In the execution of the COI task for the subsequent consolidation activity, only the Balance Sheet postings (for the RE and MI) and the statistical Net Income Postings appear in the posting document, the P&L account for MI is missing.
    Are we missing something?
    Regards
    Paul

Thanks for the reponse, we tested  with both options in the consolidation area and neither of them gave us the desired posting in the PL account.
Addtional Information that might me useful:
    Accounting Technique: Purchase Method
    Acquisition: Direct Share
Investment Data comes from Additional Financial Data
Equity Data comes from Totals Database (hence the RE comes from here)

  • No incoming e-mails for 2 iPhones on same e-mail account

Problem with the iPhone Mail app that began a few days ago and similar to the recent Yahoo mail problems: One of 3 related CenturyLink e-mail accounts on 2 iPhones and an iPad will not receive incoming mail more recently than February 1st.  The 2 other accounts work fine as they have for years. I have done everything suggested in the Forum short of erasing the phone: deleted the non-working account and reinstalled many times, restarted and restored the phone, changed the server and SSL settings, restored from an iTunes backup a month ago, opened the mail account on Safari (which works fine), updated to the new iOS 8.2, spoke with 2 tiers of CenturyLink Tech Support who graciously gave me an hour of their time.  The iPad seems to work now after logging into the e-mail account on Safari then adding the account back on Mail, but that approach doesn't seem to fix the phones.  They suggested deleting the Mail app and restoring it but felt it was a risky since it might screw up the other accounts.  Besides I don't know how to delete and restore the Apple native apps without restoring the whole phone to new condition.  Also the Feb 1 date advances 1 day per day as if it can't sync more recently than 38 days.  Any more thoughts please?  Thanks!

  • SEM-BCS  Minority Interest in Income Statement

    Hi,
I am using SEM-BCS 4.0. The C/I task calculates Minority Interests in Current period profits.
How can Minority Interest in profit be shown in Income Statement?
    Please suggest
    Regards,

    Hi,
First you have to have an item for minority interest in the income statement.
Then do the following in the customizing workbench:
Consolidation of investments --> Settings --> Appropriation of retained earnings
Select the tab "Net Income" and assign the mentioned item in the section "Minority Interest in Annual Net Income".

    Hi GOLFBALLTX,
Just as Visakh suggest, could you please provide us more information about the issue? Such as the screenshots about your report design, your dataset with sample data and the desired results, then we can make further analysis.
