Steps for creation of DSO in BI7.....

Hi,
Can anyone help me out with the steps for creation of DSO in BI7.....
Points will be assigned...
Cheers
Shankar

Hi Shankar,
Procedure of creation of DSO in BI7 :
1.Select the InfoArea to which the new DSO object is to be assigned, or create a new InfoArea. Choose Modeling--> InfoProvider --> Create InfoArea.
2.Choose Create DSO Object in the context menu for the InfoArea.
3.Specify a name and a description for the DSO object, and choose Create.
If you want to create a copy of an existing DSO object, specify the DSO object that you want to use as a template.
You get to the DSO object maintenance screen.
4. Transferring InfoObjects:
On the left side of the screen, there are various templates to choose from, which allow you to get a better overview in relation to a particular task. For performance reasons, the default setting here is an empty template. Using the pushbuttons, select an InfoSource (only the InfoObjects for the communication structure of the InfoSource are displayed), an InfoCube, an DSO object, or an InfoObject catalog.
On the right side of the screen you define the DSO object. Using the Drag&Drop function, assign the InfoObjects in the key fields and in the data fields. It is possible to select several InfoObjects at once. The system assigns navigation attributes automatically. These navigation attributes can be switched on for reporting in BEx.

  • Steps for creation of search help exit for a search help

    Hi,
I have created a search help. I need to create a search help exit for this search help.
Please let me know how to create a search help exit as well as how to link it to my search help.

1)Copy the FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE to write your own FM. (check the documentation and coding of FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE).
2)write your code depending upon the functionality you want.
3)attach the FM in search help through SE11 in "search help exit" field.
A search help exit is a function module for making the input help process described by the search help more flexible than possible with the standard version.
This function module must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE. The search help exit may also have further optional parameters (in particular any EXPORTING parameters).
A search help exit is called at certain timepoints in the input help process.
Note: The source text and long documentation of the above-specified function module (including the long documentation about the parameters) contain information about using search help exits.
Function modules are provided in the function library for operations that are frequently executed in search help exits. The names of these function modules begin with the prefix F4UT_. These function modules can either be used directly as search help exits or used within other search help exits. You can find precise instructions for use in the long documentation for the corresponding function module.
This module has been created as an example for the interface and design of Search help exits in Search help.
All the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module to be used as a search help exit, because the calling program does not know which parameters are actually used internally.
A search help exit is called repeatedly in connection with several events during the F4 process. The relevant step of the process is passed on in the CALLCONTROL step. If the module is intended to perform only a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.
However, if the step is performed completely by the module, the following step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.
For more detailed information please refer to the documentation describing the concept of the search help exit.
The module must react with an immediate EXIT to all steps that it does not know or does not want to handle.

  • Steps for Repartitioning Infocube in BI7

    Hi all,
Plaese give me detailed steps for Repartitioning Infocube which is having Data & not having partitions ( Before ) in BI 7.
    2. Please provide significance of a) Adding Partitions
                                                   b) Merging Partitions
                                                   c) Complete Repartitioning Processing Options in the Repartitioning of Infoproviders Screen.
    Points will  assign.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ram.

    Hi Ram,
Repartitioning can be useful if you have already loaded data to your InfoCube, and:
1.You did not partition the InfoCube when you created it.
    2. You loaded more data into your InfoCube than you had planned when you partitioned it.
3.You did not choose a long enough period of time for partitioning.
4.Some partitions contain no data or little data due to data archiving over a period of time.
    <b>Integration</b>
All database providers support this function except DB2 for Linux, UNIX, Windows and MAXDB. For DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows, you can use clustering or reclustering instead. For more information, see Clustering .
    <b>Features
    Merging and Adding Partitions</b>
When you merge and add partitions, InfoCube partitions are either merged at the bottom end of the partitioning schema (merge), or added at the top (split).
Ideally, this operation is only executed for the database catalog. This is the case if all the partitions that you want to merge are empty and no data has been loaded outside of the time period you initially defined. The runtime of the action is only a few minutes.
If there is still data in the partitions you want to merge, or if data has been loaded beyond the time period you initially defined, the system saves the data in a shadow table and then copies it back to the original table. The runtime depends on the amount of data to be copied.
With InfoCubes for non-cumulatives, all markers are either in the bottom partition or top partition of the E fact table. Whether mass data also has to be copied depends on the editing options. For this reason, the partitions of non-cumulative InfoCubes cannot be merged if all of the markers are in the bottom partition. If all of the markers are in the top partition, adding partitions is not permitted. If this is the case, use the Complete Repartitioning editing option.
You can merge and add partitions for aggregates as well as for InfoCubes. Alternatively, you can reactivate all of the aggregates after you have changed the InfoCube. Since this function only changes the DB memory parameters of fact tables, you can continue to use the available aggregates without having to modify them.
SAP recommends that you completely back up the database before you execute this function. This ensures that if an error occurs (for example, during a DB catalog operation), the can restore the system to its previous status.
    <b>Complete Partitioning</b>
Complete Partitioning fully converts the fact tables of the InfoCube. The system creates shadow tables with the new partitioning schema and copies all of the data from the original tables into the shadow tables. As soon as the data is copied, the system creates indexes and the original table replaces the shadow table. After the system has successfully completed the partitioning request, both fact tables exist in the original state (shadow table), as well as in the modified state with the new partitioning schema (original table). You can manually delete the shadow tables after repartitioning has been successfully completed to free up the memory. Shadow tables have the namespace /BIC/4F<Name of InfoCube> or /BIC/4E<Name of InfoCube>.
You can only use complete repartitioning for InfoCubes. A heterogeneous state is possible. For example, it is possible to have a partitioned InfoCube with non partitioned aggregates. This does not have an adverse effect on functionality. You can automatically modify all of the active aggregates by reactivating them.
    <b>Monitor</b>
You can monitor the repartitioning requests using a monitor. The monitor shows you the current status of the processing steps. When you double-click, the relevant logs appear. The following functions are available in the context menu of the request or editing step:
Delete: You delete the repartitioning request; it no longer appears in the monitor, and you cannot restart. All tables remain in their current state. The InfoCube may be inconsistent.
Reset Request: You reset the repartitioning request. This deletes all the locks for the InfoCube and all its shadow tables.
Reset Step: You reset the canceled editing steps so that they are reset to their original state.
Restart: You restart the repartitioning request in the background. You cannot restart a repartitioning request if it still has status Active (yellow) in the monitor. Check whether the request is still active (transaction SM37) and, if necessary, reset the current editing step before you restart.
    <b>Background Information About Copying Data</b>
By default, the system copies a maximum of six processes in parallel. The main process splits dialog processes in the background. These dialog processes each copy small data packages and finish with a COMMIT. If a timeout causes one of these dialog processes to terminate, you can restart the affected copy operations, after you have altered the timeout time. To do this, choose Restart Repartitioning Request.
    <b>Background Information About Error Handling</b>
Even if you can restart the individual editing steps, you should not reset the repartitioning request or the individual editing steps without first performing an error analysis.
During repartitioning, the relevant InfoCube and its aggregates are locked against modifying operations (loading data, aggregation, rollup and so on) to avoid inconsistent data. In the initial dialog, you can manually unlock objects. This option is only intended for cases where errors have occurred and should only be used after the logs and datasets have been analyzed.
    <b>Transport</b>
Since the metadata in the target system is adjusted without the DB tables being converted when you transport InfoCubes, repartitioned InfoCubes may only be transported when the repartitioning has already taken place in the target system. Otherwise inconsistencies that can only be corrected manually occur in the target system.
    <b>Activities</b>
You can access repartitioning in the Data Warehousing Workbench using Administration, or in the context menu of your InfoCube.
You can schedule repartitioning in the background by choosing Initialize. You can monitor the repartitioning requests by choosing Monitor.
    Hope this helps
    Regards

  • No key field found for creation of DataSource - Classification Datasource

    Hello,
While trying to create a clasiffication datasource based on 0PLANT_ATTR, when i assign a characteristic and push the DataSource button, i get the following message:
No key field found for creation of DataSource
    Diagnosis
During generation of a classification or configuration DataSource, only those key fields for the object table (field "Obj.Tabelle") that are already present in the basis DataSource transferred to the extract structure.  This is the case when none of the key fields of the object table were found in the structure of the basis DataSource.
    System response
A DataSource cannot be created without key fields. The action was cancelled.
    Procedure
Check whether you have selected the correct basis DataSource and object table. For more information, please see SAP Note 569849.
Do you know what can be the problem?
    Thank you and regards

    Hi Alberto,
plants are a special case. The key which is used for the classification
of plants (object type BETR) is not the same as the key which is used in
    datasource 0PLANT_ATTR.
BETR has key LOCNR (Site). That's a customer related to a plant. The
customer number will be extracted in field LOCNR.
0PLANT_ATTR extracts the plant in its key field WERKS.
Transaction CTBW and the generic extraction program for classifications
don't know the relationship between LOCNR and WERKS. So they cannot map
    them.
I do recommend a solution which would add the mapping between
    LOCNR and WERKS:
    1. Create please the classification datasource as intended, but use
datasource 0RT_LOC_MGR_ATTR as basis datasource. It's the only
datasource of the content where LOCNR is a key field. So
0RT_LOC_MGR_ATTR is used as a dummy here, to allow transaction CTBW to
create the classification datasource. It's not necessary to extract
    data with datasource 0RT_LOC_MGR_ATTR.
    2. Extend please the extract structure of the created classification
datasource. Add please field WERKS using component type WERKS_D. Make
    this field visible.
    3. Fill field WERKS in the extractor user exit EXIT_SAPLRSAP_002. WERKS
can be read from table KNA1 by using the customer number extracted to
LOCNR to select on field KNA1-KUNNR.
    4. Transaction CTBW_META on the BW system isn't able to append the
characteristics from the classification datasource to infosource
0PLANT, because the keys are different. So create please a new info
source with CTBW_META. This allows CTBW_META to create the info objects
for the characteristics used in the classification datasource.
    5. Add please the characteristics used in the classification datasource
to infosource 0PLANT manually. You will find the info object names of
the characteristics by looking up the characteristic datasources which
are assigned to the classification datasource in transaction CTBW. From
these names you can derive the info object names:
    1CL_A... -> C_A...
    6. Disconnect the infosource which has been created with CTBW_META from
    the classification datasource.
    7. Connect please the classification datasource to infosource 0PLANT
    Use following info object:
    info object   field
    0PLANT       WERKS
The info object names for the characteristics are explained in step 5.
    8. Add an infopackage to infosource 0PLANT for the classification
    datasource.
Now the extraction of classifications of sites should work.
    Best regards,
    Rolf
P.S. I saw the system messed it up and doesn't display any new and empty lines. Sorry, I hope you still can read it.

  • Data archiving for Write Optimized DSO

    Hi Gurus,
I am trying to archive data in Write Optimized DSO.
Its allowing me to archive on request basis but it archives entire requests in the DSO(Means all data).
But i want to select to archive from this request to this request.(Selection of request by my own).
    Please guide me.
I got the below details from SDN.Kindly check.
Archiving for Write optimized DSOs follow request based archiving as opposed to time slice archiving in standard DSO. This means that partial request activation is not possible; only complete requests have to be archived.
Characteristic for Time Slice can be a time characteristic present in the WDSO, or the request creation data/request loading date. You are not allowed to add additional infoobjects for semantic groups, default is 0REQUEST & 0DATAPAKID.
The actual process of archiving remains the same i.e
    Create a Data Archiving Process
    Create and schedule archiving requests
    Restore archiving requests (optional)

  • Connection steps for SAP BW and R/3

    Hi Every Body,
Can you please explain me detail about the connectivity between R/3 and BW.
General steps which am aware is as follws;-
SAP R/3 steps to be performed
    1.     Define Logical system---->(e.g ABC100)
    2.     Assign client to logical system -->(100)
    3.     Define RFC Destination.(Here I assume I have to give Destination user name and password should be the user which have SAP_ALL authorization) Am I right.
    SAP BW Steps:-
    4.     Define Logical system---->(e.g ABC100)
    5.     Assign client to logical system -->(100)
    6.     Define RFC Destination.(Here I assume I have to give Destination user name and password should be the user which have SAP_ALL authorization) Am I right.
Then in BW Environment in RSA1->Source Systems->right click and choose Create
There are two options available for R/3 system one is Manual and one is Automatic.
For Manual  creation we give RFC Destination should be BW system and Logical system should be R/3 and Source system name is xyz.
Is there any other steps am missing. What about the inbound and outbound Idoc Parameters.
I feel this will help while transferring data to BW.am I right.
Please clearly explain the steps for R/3 and BW connectivity.
    Regards,
    VJ

    Hi,
<i>For Manual creation we give RFC Destination should be BW system and Logical system should be R/3 and Source system name is xyz.</i>
RFC Destination should be R/3 system. NOT BW system.
    <i>should i make connection with only R/3 200(Data Client) to BW</i>
Yes you have to connect to 200 only. Not to 100.Other wise you will not get data from R/3 to BW.
<i>What is the Use of Transport Button in RSA6.Post Processing data sources.</i>
It will be used to create Trasnport requests on DS .
<i>Suppose if i activate data source from Customizing client(100)and click on Transport button in RSA6 if there is connection with this client to BW. What is the Impact.</i>
It will not give any impact on BW. Actually it ask you to create a Transport requset by Prompting the message box. After click on create button and entering the description, it will create a transport request.
<i>Clearly explain me in detail what happen when i choose Transport Button in RSA6 for BC data sources.</i>
It is must and should process. Because you will not activate(using of RSA5) the DS in quality R/3 system. So to use this DS in QA system, you will import the Transport request creatd in DEV r/3.
In your case, you will use client 100 for activating the DS and creating Transport reuests. And then these DS are automatically available in client 200, because DS are Client independent.
