Sticky CD tray

I recently bought an iBook 500 and find that the CD tray seems to be sticking. When I eject a CD, the tray only opens up about 1/16th of an inch. This isn't normal is it? I can pull it out to get the CD out. When I insert a CD, it won't go in by itself if I hit F12, but needs to be pushed in manually. Again, not normal? Would one of those drive cleaning kits be the answer? Thanks.

My 800 MHz G3 iBook's tray pops out about one inch (but can be inhibited by the AC adapter cord). Then I have to pull it the rest of the way out.
It doesn't go in when you push the F12 key. I have to push it in manually.
I think what you are seeing is normal (or close enough to it not to worry about it).

The situation is as such when:
There is more than 10 papers and less than ab 1.5cm stack of papers. The "sticky roller" that should take the paper from the tray seems to roll and makes a scrieking noise, then it stops and says "load paper". If there is more or less paper the printer works fine.

According to the Specs for this printer, it only has one paper tray (and an automatic document feeder).

Imac g3 333mhz tray loader & os 9 install on new hard drive?

puting new (used) 20gb hardive in imac g3, 333mhz tray loader (rev d i think), because the imac came (Ebay) with os 8.6 password protected by At Ease ("a notoriously sticky program to get rid of," so i've heard). the questions are: 1) once i get the hd with nothing on it into the imac; can i use an os 9.whatever install cd to FORMAT AND PARTITION the new drive? and 2) if i can, must this cd be a "retail" cd, or can i purchase one of those gray install cds that say imac on the disk? and finally 3)if all goes well and after updating firmware (is there a problem here?) i'm going to install 10.3.

1) Yes.
2) Yes, you'll need either a retail CD or the model-specific CD that was shipped with your exact iMac model. With so many different iMac models, it would be extremely hard to determine which model-specific (gray) CD was the right one to buy, and I can't recommend trying to do so.
3) A retail OS 9 CD will contain the firmware updater you need. A model-specific (gray) CD will contain only the firmware updater needed by the model it was designed for, and that may not be yours.
The firmware updater you may need is also available here, but quite apart from the firmware issue, a gray CD may lack OS components that your iMac needs, and include others that it can't use.
Summary: buy only a retail CD.

PSE 11 printing preferences not sticky

Win7 64, PSE 11, Canon MX895, wifi connection.
PSE11 insists on printing to the rear tray, 8.5x11, even though the printer preferences in "devices and printers" is automatically select and A4. I have reinstalled the printer and rebooted. I have changed the preferences in "devices and printers" and rebooted. I have changed the settings in File->Print->More Options...->Color Management->Printer preferences then printed then saved. It still comes up rear tray 8.5x11.

Thanks for the quick response.
I opened Photoshop Elements 11.0.exe in administrator mode from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer as you suggested. I then opened a .psd file. I then changed the option for the tray in "Change Setttings...", "Page Setup.." and "More Options..." Oddly there are three places that I can find to make the changes.
Alas. None of these changes were sticky. When I reopened PSE 11, the default was back to rear tray.

Carriage Jammed... sticky ink...error

I have an Officejet J5780. It started out as once every ten print jobs, now it's after every print job, I get the "Carriage Jammed, clear jam and press OK" It is stuck on the right side (not left as the HP support instructions state) I've read all the forums I could find similar to mine, I have looked at the clear strip (encoding strip) it is clean. I think I have narrowed it down to this...
there is an excess of dried ink all over the gears of that tray that slides forward when the cartridges are in the clean position (I guess[?]) and the little tab thingy that the carriage "snaps" on when it is all the way to the right side is connected to those gears also with springs and gears. They are so gummed up, I think, the carriage is sticking on that little tab thingy on it's way back to the left side (where it hangs out after a print job). does this make sense? what can I do to break up the dried (really gooey and sticky and thick, not really dried hard) ink?
The ink's not just in the "spit" area, but above where it should be in those gears and springs.(this theory also makes sense as to why it is getting worse with time)

WD-40 worked, and I cleaned the encoding strip just in case.

HP LaserJet P2015 Tray 1 paper feed

My HP LaserJet P2015dn printer has been my workhorse printer since new, especially for printing checks, envelopes, forms from paper Tray 1. I always print using the Auto Select for paper feed, so that if there are checks/envelopes in Tray 1, they will be selected. For the past 6 weeks or so, the printer will not feed from Tray 1 on demand, that is will not pick paper from Tray 1 if Auto Select is enabled as I have used it in the past.
Printer will pick from Tray 1 IF Tray 1 is specifically selected OR Tray 2 has no paper or is removed. I doubt I can retrain myself to do either of these things as work arounds.
Stupidly, I paid a $50 bench fee for a technician to tell me the printer is mechanically working as it should. On further investigation, I have determined that the HP print drivers is use seem to have been installed on July 10, 2008 (about the time this issue started AFAIK) from a combined installer HPLaserJetP2015andColorLaserJet2605_2700.dmg which I installed for my Color LaserJet 2605dn printer.
I still have the prior LJP2015OSXfullsol.dmg on my hard disk, but reinstalling same does not seem to replace the new driver with the old.
So, is there any way to get rid of the the newer print software OR overlay the older on the newer? Other suggestions?

So, I cranked up my old PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11) which has the older driver for the P2015dn and the problem remains.
I have made some progress: If I want to print with paper feed from Tray 1, I pull Tray 2 out a few inches, load the paper in Tray 1, start the print job, and the yellow Attention LED flashes indicating an error. Note that the Paper Out light does NOT come on. So I press the Go button, the Attention LED goes out, and the print job completes using the forms in Tray 1 as desired.
So I'm thinking now, What Error condition? and why does clearing it make it print?
Certainly seems like a hardware problem to me as this is NOT the way the printer is supposed to work as documenetd in the User Guide.

HP LJ 600 M602 uses paper from other tray

I have a problem with a new HP LJ 600 M602 printer.
I think it's best to discribe an example of the problem.
For example i start a printjob of 1000 pages from tray 1 which holds 500 sheets. Now it should just say tray 1 is empty when it hits the 500 pages printed but it wil automatically continue to print from tray 2. This should not be happening since i turned off the option "Use other tray" on the printer it's self and the web interface. It is also turned off in the printer settings on the computer in word that is used for the printing.
The actual configuration of the printer is:
Tray 1: Manual
Tray 2: blank paper
Tray 3: paper with corporate logo1
Tray 4: paper with corporate logo2
And all have the option "use other tray" turned off.
Could this be a driver problem or am i missing a setting somewhere?

Will not recognize jump drive nor allow me to open DVD tray

Intermittantly, my G5 will not show my jump drive nor a CD on the desktop. At those times, it will not open the DVD tray either.
When this happens, I can go to system profiler and see both the jump drive and the CD--it's just not showing up on the desktop so I can't open them. The only way I can get the tray to open and to recognize the CD and or Jump Drive is to reboot the computer.
What is going on and why don't these show up on the desktop nor allow me to open the DVD tray.

I want to know, whether we can achieve the following task in embedded BI publisher or not.
Also, if we can do, let me know what are the possible steps to achieve them:
1. Multiple Tray selection
Here multiple Tray means different tray available in a single printer i.e tray 1 can have A4 paper, tray 2 can have A3 paper , tray 3 can have pre- printed stationary etc. so our BIP output can be send to multiple tray.
*2. Checking the groupings - how many levels*
Embedded BIP can provide a maximum of upto 4 levels of grouping.
our requirement demand to group upto 7 level, I have suggested that we can achieve this through manual coding in RTF.
*3. Email Feature - HTML (body is dynamic).*
BIP has this emailing facility where we can have dynamic body in a mail. We need to figure out what max no of character , we can have in the body.
*4. Reports that are uploaded to different folders.*
It means that PDF/RTF files should be able to be copied to different folders like C:\DMU, D:\CTA etc
5. Inserting records into SQL
We need to find way for connecting to database and inserting our BIP records.
6. Renaming files for the Email and Doc Central.
We need to find out methods where we can rename our BIP outputs.Generally BIP file name gets generated automatically with UBE engine when it generates XML file.
*7. Integrate with Doc Central (PDFs and Common XML)*
Client is having one DOC Central software where client keeps repository of all its documents. we need to figure out that can we integrate our JDE with DOC central for keeping our BIP outputs in it.
*8.Zipping of the files and sending the documents by FTP.*
we need to figure out ways where we can zip our BIP outputs and send it through FTP.
Let me know possible ways to achieve above 8 constraints, any java/dot net program if require to meet those above 8 facilities are also welcome.

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

Yoga 2 Pro - Videos being sticky in tablet, stand and tent mode.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and please direct me to a similar thread) but I can't find anything online relating to my paticular problem.
The issue is that when I use any other mode expect laptop, I simply cannot watch videos as they constantly stop and start and are just overall very sticky. At first I thought it might just be the dvd I was watching, but I've now tested it on several websites like amazon and youtube, different CD's etc.. (even games, where I get fps drops, less of an issue though).
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem and knows how I might go about solving this issue.

Hp officejet Pro 8100 Printer Tray

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8100 printer. I removed the paper tray this morning to load paper and now I can't get it to slide back in all the way. It stops about 4 inches short of closing. I feel like an idiot! How can I have problems sliding a drawer in? Are there any clips etc. that I should have in place, etc. that might have come off?

You might try lifting the front of the printer to see if anything is obstructing from your desk. It should slide right back in.

Sticky Note (Text annotation)

Hello,
I decided to add some sticky notes (text annotation) in my pdf document and I was surprised to see that the sticky notes were not printed. I used the "Document and Markups" option for the print and even in the print preview the Sticky Notes were not present.
Regarding the PDF Reference a sticky note is a Markup so it has to be printed.
Is it a bug? A normal behavior?
While I select the "Print notes and pop-ups" option in the Preferences - Commenting then the Sticky is printed (but also all notes and pop-ups

The Preferences > Commenting > Print notes and popups option takes priority when printing sticky notes - if it's deselected, they don't print at all. If it's selected, sticky notes will print in whatever state they're in (collapsed or open) provided they don't have a non-print attribute set against them.
Most people don't want stickies to print, as by their nature they are either collapsed (hence meaningless on paper) or will obscure some other part of the page. Text markups, stamps etc. can be printed without such issues, hence the above preference defaults to off.

Sticky proposal: Logic Pro (first draft)

Ok, here's a first draft of the proposed sticky for this forum. After looking at what we had, I decided to basically do it in four parts - introductory stuff (please post version numbers etc), problem solvers, tips, and audio general stuff.
I'm not making this a work of art, but value feedback in order to make this useful before we ask the mods for a sticky. It's not complete, such a task is a much bigger job, but it's a start. What's not there? What's confusing? Is it too much stuff? Too newbie unfriendly?

It may be a good idea to name the topics that apply to all Logics' (7, 8 and 9) simply Logic Pro (or leave 'm nameless), and the others after the specific version they apply to. The topics with a (9?) behind it, have still to be confirmed to also apply to L9 (.0.2)
