Sticky serverfarm, all connections on one server

We are using a sticky serverfarm with 2 real servers, one server was down for maintenance for an extended period of time. When it came inservice again it was not getting any connections. is it because all the connections had stuck to the other server ?  we want sessions to be sticky but we also want to LB so what is the answer to this?
I got it working by bouncing the server that had been online all the time. things started to LB then.
BTW  the ACE 4710 is running 4.2.1

That is expected behaviour wih sticky.
regards
Andrew

You can delete the backup without any problem. Only the backup will be deleted from iCloud and nothing else will be deleted, so you can do it without worrying about losing data on iCloud or your devices

• Slow connection in one server if accessing through Cisco ACE

Hi,
Good day, Can someone help me on my problem? I have 3 servers, server1, server2 and server3. When one pc accessing the server 3 application via Cisco ACE, it experienced a slow connection but when direct access without Cisco Ace, it's fast. The connection of this PC through cisco ace and direct access have no issue.
What need to do in my configuration? Below is my configuration

Hi Earsdale,
All the three servers are using the same configuration, so, I'm afraid it's not possible to give you a simple answer. You will need more troubleshooting.
I would recommend you to start by checking the differences between the servers because one of those differences is certainly causing the failure.
Also, it would be helpful to get traffic captures on the TenGig interface of the ACE to compare the behavior of the connection when going to the different servers, as well as the differences when being load-balanced vs accessing the server directly.
If you need help with this troubleshooting, you can always open a TAC service request

• Script to pull all connections from one IP out of DPS access logs...

I need an efficient script to pull all of the connections for 2 IP's (or match the first two octets of the IP will cover both addresses also) from multiple DPS access logs out and write them to a file.
The current one-liner I've been using doesn't work well with multiple access log files. So I tried combining multiple logs into one access log, and then trying to parse that large log file (around . The problem is, I am now getting the error: "bash: /usr/bin/egrep: Arg list too long", which is because it takes all of the connection numbers and builds a grep with them.
Here is the one-liner I've been using:
FILTER='client=192.168.1.1|client=192.168.2.1'; FILE='access.*'; for j in $FILE; do unset CONN; for i in `egrep -h "$FILTER" $j | awk '{print $8}'`; do CONN="$CONN|$i"; done; if [ -n "${CONN+x}" ]; then egrep -h $CONN $j; fi; done | sort -t '/' -k2,2M -k1n
Is there a faster and more efficient way to pull out all of the connections from one or more IP's in access logs? I would think someone out there would have written something to do this?
Thanks everyone!!!

It could be as simple as
lgrep -O conn <IP> access
If you have more logs you can cat them and pipe the output to lgrep in a pipeline, like:
cat access.1 access.2 ... access.n | lgrep -O conn <IP>
Just make sure that the logs are listed in sequence. The script won't produce reliable results if the log is non-sequential.

• Is it possible to give a choice to user to connect any one server on a network.

Dear Forum members,
I have three servers windows 2008 r2 in my network but each server has its own set of users. a user member of one server cant' login to other with the same credentials.
Secondly PC at a time is part of one domain. every time I have to change the domain name and then user is able to connect with a particular server.
regards,
AYAZ
Abu Dhabi

If you make the 3 servers a member of the domain, they can choose to either log in with a domain user account, or with a local user account. The only thing you need to do is to join the machines to the domain. From then on, both local users and domain users
can log in.

• Server refuses all connections randomly one day.

I got home from school, did my homework, and tried to print it through my mac mini server running CUPS. It says the printer is offline. I tried SSHing to the mac mini, but I get this:
ssh: connect to host 10.0.1.31 port 22: Connection refused
I also run a minecraft server from it, and I can't connect to that either. The server also won't show up under the "shared" section of the finder. (AFP)
I tried turning off the firewall, but that didn't help. I also rebooted the computer. Does anyone know of something I can try? The server can connect to the internet fine.
It's being assigned a static internal ip via my airport extreme.

Forget me. My iMac somehow connected to the public network, not the one the mini was on.

Just to add to the fun, the 'new' server running Ora 10g CANNOT connect
to the old server running Ora 9:
sqlplus user/pass@nn_qq3
sqlplus user/pass@nn_qq3.qonnectis.com both fail.
While the old 9.0 server CAN connect to the new 10g one:
sqlplus user/[email protected] succeeds.
Sorry this is such a mess. TBH I find this whole area extremely
confusing.
All suggestions welcome. Unfortunately I am away on holiday next week
but will follow up any leads when I get back.
thanks!

• How to reduce the number of Remote Gateway connections from one server

Hi ,
We have an XI 3.0 prod system which is being flooded every month end by the invoices generated in our ERP system and occupying all the gateway connections, what I see is that all the remote gateway connections are being established by our ERP server and still there are many requests waiting at the ERP server and failing.
When we ran the same in  our test landscape, the invoices are getting transferred to XI with out any problems, the remote gateway connections are free even when the invocie Volumes transferred are the same in Prod and Test servers.
we are not considerint to Increasing the rdisp/max_gateways as the volumes of invocies transferred are really huge and in one of the test, we observed that when 40 invocies are transferred from ERP, it occupied 40 Remote gateway connections in our XI prod
We are looking for the option similar to our test system of transferring many requests from one connection. Is there any such specific option?
Regards,
Santhi Bushan.

Dear Santhi,
every gateway establishes only one connection to another gateway. If there are that many gateway/gateway connections, then you are probably connecting from more than one instance. You could circumvent this, if you use gateway options in the RFC destination being used, as this will force all outgoing RFC calls to go through a single gateway. This will then mean that the system has a single point of access.
Best Regards,
Tim

• CSS11501 direct all requests to one server?

Hi,
We have a CSS 11501 with 2 webservers behind it. The people from serveradmin want one webserver to be used for all requests, and only use the second one when the first one gets too busy (let's say > 80 %)
So in a very busy scenario, both webservers would be used
I've looked into Primary sorry server but believe that's only to be used when the first webserver dies, so this does not apply.
I also thought about using different weights for the services, but even when you give webserver 1 a weight of 10, and webserver 2 a weight of 1, there will still be requests forwarded - albeit very few - to webserver 2, right?
Anyone encountered this before? Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Radboud

firs you have to define what is 80%
The CSS has now knowledge of the capacity of the servers.
I see 2 options to define 80%.
First you know that your box can handle 100 connections.
So you can define 80% to be 80 connections.
You could then configure maxconn to 80.
The primarysorryserver will kick in once maxconns has been reached for all other servers.
Another solution is a script on the server itself that measure the load and update a file with a value ON or OFF.
When reaching 80% of maxload, simple rewrite the file with the vaule off.
On the CSS create a keepalive to read this file and disable the service if the value is off.
When disabled, the primarysorryserver will kick in.
Regards,
Gilles.

What version of WebLogic and MQ are you using?
Have you ensured that the target Destination and Connection Factory are both WebLogic artifacts (neither should reference an MQ resource)?

Hi,
We are running out of connection pools on one weblogic server only everytime in a 2 node cluster.
But the sessions are very less in the database when we faced the issue.

• BI enterprise edition installation;all on just one server

Hi everybody,
I am going to install Oracle business intelligence 11 on linux x86-64 platform. As it needs a database to be installed I have to install Oracle 11gR2 on the same server.
I was reading Oracle BI documentation that I came across this sentence:
The database must be up and running, and does not have to be on the same computer where you are installing the components
I know base on distribution it is better to separate BI repository(Oracle database) and its application.
What if I want to use same server for both?Any special error or prevention by Installer?
All the best,

Hi Arash,
The recommendation to have different hosts for each component of your BI environment is mostly to optimize performance in production systems, for development and demo environments you can have the whole stack installed in a single system.
RCU is a separate download, you can find it at the bottom of this page:

• One server for two independ customer installations

Dear all,
I've one server and want to install two different SBO installations for two different
companies that are not related between them.
I'm going to create two SQL instance so DBs are in differente scope, and with license manager I could administrate two different license file..
Is it possible?
Regards,
Giovanni

Hi Sachin,
you're right with two different VM you can manage that, but this is similar to have two different server.  My goal is to use only a server (phisical or virtual)...  I think  with 8.8 version we can do it, but I glad if someone has some experience of this scenario..

• Airport Extreme only connects to one computer at a time

We just got a new modem and now we can no longer go online with more than one wireless computer at a time, although we have set up a network and it has always worked just fine with the previous modem.
The error message we are getting on a Mac trying to connect while another Mac is online is: (orange light) "Airport is connected to the network...does not have an IP address, cannot connect to the internet".
Another message says that the IP address is already in use by the other computer, so no access.
How do we get more than one Mac to go online at the same time, when there is this IP address problem?

The modem is a Zyxell/Zyzell/Zycell (spelling subject to change!) P600R-D1, our provider is Earthlink (formerly Mindspring). I honestly have no idea if it's a combination router/modem, I don't recall if I was the one who set it up or not as it's been several years.
Also, something I forgot to mention (as this problem has been intermittent for some time) is that occasionally our AirPort Base Station will "overload" for lack of a better word and simply drop all connections to one, several, or all of the computers. During these times the number of bars shown (if the computer was previously connected) drops to one below full, whereas computers who were not corrected cannot see the station at all. AirPort Admin Utility is unable to see them as well, the station simply seems to not exist anymore! Unplugging the power cord always fixes the issue, but this problem usually occurs when I'm intentionally using a lot of bandwidth (downloading large files from torrents, playing intensive multiplayer games on the internet) which is why I mention it here, as it might be important.
I'll try poking around the modem configuration page and see what I can find out about it, and I appreciate your help thus far! Hopefully I can get this resolved and cure this headache!
