Still no 3D on non-Nvidia? Whats taking so long?

I bought my first GPU card specifically support the Adobe suite. Bought a card of the list for Premiere since that is my primary app. However when I got into After Effects for the first time on the new machine, a big dialog box popped-up informing me that because I didn't have an Nvidia card there would be no accelerated 3D support. Still? Really? Since we're seeing all these announcements about how Adobe is supporting more platforms why is 3D not a part of this? That's what these cards were originally architected to do!
Has anybody seen an explanation for this?

What Rick said is true, the After Effects team is no longer developing new features for the existing built-in ray-traced 3D renderer in After Effects. I want to clarify that this does not affect CUDA acceleration in other applications, like Premiere Pro. Nor does this affect the other ways After Effects utilizes the GPU, which you can read about in this article.
The ray-traced 3D renderer in After Effects is built on the Nvidia OptiX ray-tracing engine. Nvidia GPU's that support CUDA can accelerate this engine*, or it can run on the CPU, though obviously not accelerated. Other GPU's are not supported for acceleration.
*The version of OptiX built into After Effects is not compatible with more recent Nvidia GPU's. See this document for a list of supported GPU's.
The After Effects team worked very closely with Maxon to develop their Cineware solution between CINEMA 4D and After Effects. We continue to work with them to improve the 3D workflow between applications.
Rick mentioned AtomKraft/AE as an alternative 3D solution for After Effects. Video Copilot's Element 3D and Zaxwerks' ProAnimator and 3D Invigorator are similar solutions you may want to consider.

I was also having this problem after having successfully used iTunes Match previously. The problem appears to be when there are two version of songs and one of them has the iCloud icon made using a dotted line. Here's what solved it for me:
1. Identify your duplicate files. I have a large library, so I elected to use Dupin Light (available on the Mac App store). I suppose I could have used iTunes duplicate finder too, but I prefer the flexibility of Dupin.
2. Once you have identified your duplicates, find them in iTunes. In my case Dupin identifed 50, from 19,000+ tracks, so for me it was not a large number to check manually.
3. When you find the duplicates, if one of them has the aforementioned dotted line iCloud icon, this is the one you need to delete. If you accidently delete the other version, you can always download it again if you have purchased it from iTunes. In any case, it seems to be the tracks with this icon that it is causing iTunes Match to stall, so you will need to delete all of these.
4. Once you have completed step 3, iTunes Match should not proceed and complete.

Cancel the downloads and reset the iPad (Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts off. Ignor the off slider. Then turn the iPad back on). Go back to the Purchased screen in the I.tunes app and redownload. You may want to down load one at a time.

iv had 3 zen micros, yes 3!!! its poor, very poor, for something that you pay something so much money for you expect to work! iv only had to rma my second as my first was still under 30 money back from firebox.com, n e way thats not the point the point is that my first rma only took less then 5 days which i think i resonable, but im now waiting on another rma and already iv been waiting 8 days, i checked the status online and it says creative have still not recieved my zen micro! WHAT! 8 days after iv sent it! thats pathectic, n e ways to make sure that ts was crorrect, god help me if it is, i called customer support, the person on the phone told me my order was pending.... which means...... its there and there processing the order? or they still havent got the micro? Im sorry but creative support is absolutly terrible! so all in all my question is, how long should i expect, in reality for my order, i am fully aware on the site it says 0 - 5 working days, but i dont believe that, especially at the rate this order is going, and to think, i had respect for creative and actually believed that they were good, lol school boy error! how are creative still in business!

thanx for your help, iv already contacted customer support via phone and they say its just pending..... that really doesnt tell when whats going on... they say they need the tracking number from royal mail...... i dont have one, i only sent it by first class.... like i did the first time.... my greatest fear is that my mirco is lost in the post! then im 70 pounds down the drain.... i wouldnt have this problem if creative would just get there act together and sort out there mp3 player problems... at this rate im my just have to buy an ipod, which i have to say i hate! [SOLVED] nvidia-settings taking a long time to load.

I just got an nvidia card yesterday, so I'm not sure if this is regular behavior, but nvidia-settings take about 3-5 minutes to load. I'm using KDE. When I try to load it from the terminal I see a bunch of errors like this:

I searched around for this issue, and found people who had similar problems with Firefox in the past, but I never see anyone who has solved it. On my setup I don't have this issue with any other app besides nvidia-settings.

Whats takeing so long to fix my iTunes

For to many weeks I have been talking to Apple so called techs about this Itunes fiasco
where it does not play my songs in order of any shape or form
It quits in some and then jumps to another only to find its the end of another song or even
the middle of one and then it also is skipping over many and not playing them.I have done whats required to fix this
Problem told to do this or that by Tech's on the phone.
then when that does not work they say wait a moment I will get some one to help the only to find out that person doesnt have a clue to fix Itunes in my Ipod shuffle. I began to think that might be my fault for my shuffle is a little old
so I went out to apple store and bought a new one only to find out that when i used it after a full download as required and all my music it does exactly the same thing as my other.
I am told again by another tech we will send your request to some one in I O S who handles Itunes Ha Ha Ha
they tell me all the same things do this and that. of which I have already done Factory settings reinstall all music etc. you know what I am saying then a tech says oh wait two days for it to come together

Your post jumps a bit so it isn't clear to me, is this only happening on the Shuffle or is it happening when you play songs in iTunes too?
"iTunes" is not "on" your Shuffle, it is an application on your computer and what you are playing are music tracks as seen in iTunes and the files they indicate on your computer which get transferred to the Shuffle when you sync. You therefore need to break this down into stages to determine if it is an issue with the Shuffle, the syncing process, how iTunes behaves, or the files themselves.

Computer still taking a long time to boot

I have a late 2013 21.5” iMac (Model: ME087LL/A) with a 1TB hard drive (5400 rpm). I just switch from Windows to Mac, so I tried to keep everything as simple as possible on the transfer of files. I had only added Kaspersky Antivirus and Western Digital Tools.
Boot times and operation seemed normal so I transferred my music, pictures, and some files. My computer started running slow with just one user and started taking a long time to boot. I found that since I added about 24,000 pictures to iPhoto, the Mac was trying to send all these pictures to iCloud in the background. I stopped using iCloud for iPhoto and that seemed to speed up the normal operation once the computer is booted.
The computer still seemed to take a very long time to boot. It would now take 3 minutes to get from turning it on to being able to use Safari. I uninstalled Kaspersky Antivirus and Western Digital Tools using each company’s uninstallers so I know they are completely off the computer.
Any ideas on how to get back to the fast boot time? I am only using about 150 GBs of the 1 T drive so I don’t think that is causing the issue. What should I expect for a boot time on a brand new Late 2013 iMac? Or should I try to re-install Maverick and try to get a fresh start?
Any advice would be appreciated so I don’t feel like I made the wrong choice going to Mac. I'm kicking myself because the computer was so fast when I just got it.

Non NVidia graphics card issues with Adobe and Mountain Lion

It took me a while to figure it out, but now I am certain. If using a Mac with a non nvidia graphics card there will be issues in Mountain Lion while using Adobe products. I tested this with Illustrator CS6 for over a year on 5 different Mac computers.
Here is what happens
As soon as I open Illustrator on a Mac without a NVidia graphics card and I attend to apply an shadow effect, Illustrator crashes. If I do this procedure on a Mac with a NVidia inside, all works well.
I tested this on the following Macs
MacBook Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia 9600M GT - it works
MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Radeon 6750M - doesn't work
Mac Pro (Early 2009) with Radeo HD 5770 - doesn't work
The same Mac Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia GT120 - it works
MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with Intel HD 4000 - doesn't work
iMac (Late 2012) with NVidia 680MX - it works
Since I owned all these Macs, I could test it several times with different kind of software updates. 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 did deliver the same result. Everytime the same result.
Already got in touch with Adobe

What can be done, to resolve this issue? I cannot buy only Macs with NVidia inside, since the small portable front of Macs is only coming with Intel graphics cards. And is there anybody out there, having this issue? I cannot be the only one, using shadows in Illustrator.

A typical response. IMO it's most likely a combination of Adobe's reluctance to fix the issue combined with Apple's desire for advancement and change. I've personally experienced several things that've become broken owing to Apple changing fundamental aspects of the OS, and the developers of the third-party software in question have either never fixed their software, or are taking their sweet time. WireTap Studio and Snapz Pro from Ambrosia are a case in point, though they eventually fixed Snapz Pro. Eventually…
Frankly, good luck getting either side to do anything about this. Your best bet is probably getting in touch with AppleCare and seeing if you can get this escalated to Engineering, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix from either party. Or perhaps one of the Apple mailing lists will prove useful.

See whats taking memory

I own a Lumia 900 and yesterday I noticed that I am using about 14GB of my 16GB memory, I synced my phone and migrated all my videos. Now it only uses 10GB of memory which still is too much.
I just want to know if there is a way to see exact details of whats taking memory, most of my applications I don't use as frequent as others and I just want to know the amount each app is using so that I know what to remove and what to keep instead of going on an uninstall spree and hope for the best.
So is there a way to do this, without jailbreaking/unlocking/rooting the device?

It's good to remove all applications that you do not use, as they may use surprisingly a lot of space on your device, especially if they are caching content or creating detailed log files. In addition to pictures, videos, applications, music and games. your phone has the operating system on the phone memory, which will reserve some of the space.
I am afraid there is no tool that will enable you to see how much space a certain application reserves, but you can see how big the installation file is before you download it. Some games especially can be rather large, up to several hundred megabytes. So the xBox tile is a good place to start if you are looking to free up some space.

Sorry for the long delay. I have Windows 8.1 and using Lightroom 5.7 I have organized my unedited RAW format photos in files on my hard drive in folders in My documents/pictures. Once I edit them I move them to another folders on a separate drive and discard the rejects.
When trying to access my documents by selecting .File - Import from another catalog- my documents/ pictures; I see the folders, however when I select it, it says No items to match your search When using the drop down menu on the lower right I can only see the images if I click on "all files" and when I click on the image I want to import, it says "Lightroom cannot import this catalog; "The catalog does not appear to be a valid Lightroom catalog"
All of this happend when I loaded a Cannon Pro 100 printer plug-in. I tried to disable the plugin, but It is still happining and cannot access the images.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

There are some PDF types (such as those that are password-protected) that can't be converted. But when that's the case, you'll get a message during conversion, and the conversion will stop. It doesn't sound like that's the case for you.
What happens when you open the converted Word document in Word? Do you see an Enable Editing button at the top of the document? If so, please click that. If you're still unable to select text in the Word document, try triple-clicking to select it.
For reference, I will say that the quality of the conversion depends on the quality of the PDF (see Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community). So, there may be cases where a PDF written by a third-party application (a non-Adobe app), may not be written to spec, and that can affect the accuracy of the conversion.
