Stop video audio when jumping to another label?

Hey there I have a video with audio (showing within a "videoHolder" object) at one label, but when I click a back button to go back to the main menu at another label, the video disappears but the audio still plays.
ie the video label is...
var vid = sym.$("videoHolder");
     vid.html("<video width='600' height='400' controls= 'controls' preload='auto' autoplay='autoplay' poster='video/medicationAlliance.jpg'>" +
"<source src='video/medicationAlliance.mp4' type='video/mp4' />" +
"<source src='video/medicationAlliance.webm' type='video/webm' />" +
"<source src='video/medicationAlliance.ogg' type='video/ogg' />" +
"</video>");
whilst the main menu is...
sym.stop();
Is there anyway to stop the audio playing at the main menu?
Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar issue...
a bit of newbee as well..
i have poster... when you click on it... go to another part of the timeline... The video in the videoholder loads up. I have an action script....this works great...
// sym.$("name") resolves an Edge Animate element name to a DOM
// element that can be used with jQuery
var element = sym.$("stealin2");
element.html('<video width="715" height="382" \
src="http://www.richardburnschannel.com/storage/stealinmovieLarge.mov" \
type="video/mp4" controls="controls" \
></video>');
above the videoholder, I created a graphic box with an x for stopping the video.
I create a trigger so the when you click on the X the action goes back start location where the videoholder is gone. Thus, back to the poster.  However, the video continues to play.  Here's the trigger i use, which works to get rid of the videoholder but not stopping the audio in the video.
// play the timeline from the given position (ms or label)
sym.play("start");
I've tried a bunch of these solition but no luck..

  • Stop video audio when clicking on new page of site

    I really really need help with this as I've been stuck for a while. The situation is I have a number of pages with a single movie clip on each, however once the movie is playing and you click the home or contact buttons for example, it will go to the correct page but the movies sound keep playing in the background.
    So I've got a code someone was helping me out with, but I just get an error sayign tanmovstop() does not have a body. I'm very new to action script so am very lost! If anyone can help I'll be extremely grateful.
    The code on the sites main buttons is as follows, with tanmov being the movie whos sound I want to stop:
    home.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickhome2);
    function clickhome2(event:Event):void {
        trace("home");
    tanmovstop();
        gotoAndStop("home");
    films.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickfilms2);
    function clickfilms2(event:Event):void {
        trace("films");
    tanmovstop();
        gotoAndStop("films");
    about.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickabout2);
    function clickabout2(event:Event):void {
        trace("about");
    tanmovstop();
        gotoAndStop("about");
    contact.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickcontact2);
    function clickcontact2(event:Event):void {
        trace("contact");
    tanmovstop();
        gotoAndStop("contact");
    var tanmov:FLVPlayback;
    function tanmovstop()
    if(tanmov != null){
    tanmov.stop();

  • AIR 3.3 stop background audio when another audio app is launched?

    I currently have audio playing in the background in my AIR app for iOS. My problem is that when you have the audio playing in the background, and you launch any other audio app on your phone...the audio starts to overlap because my AIR app does not stop playing audio. So when you open Pandora, Music, IHeartRadio, Youtube, etc...the AIR audio still plays.
    Is this fixed in the AIR 3.3 release with the <executeInBackground> tag? Or is there another way for my AIR app to recognize that another audio app is launching? All the afformentioned apps play nice together like that.
    I would think this would be grounds for not being accepted in the iTunes store.
    I really need some answers because my app is set to go live soon and this will be a game changer if I cannot fix it. I will probably have to try and create it in objective C
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    -- I posted this in the wrong place last night and meant to post it here. --

    Thanks a lot for the reply!
    It is very unfortunate that there is not a solution to this. It seems that building an audio/music player app via AIR for iOS is not really feasable due to this limitation.
    I would think the use case would be larger for my case because typically, when you launch a game on your iPhone, the background audio application stops the music. Or maybe just have a listener that could detect if another app was launched at least, so you could stop your AIR audio by choice. That would be great.
    Do you see this as grounds for an audio app being rejected? If the background audio does not stop unless you physically go back into the app and pause it?
    Thanks.

  • Stop Video & sounds when you flip pages

    Hi !
    We are many to have this problem :
    When you have an auto-play video or audio in a page, when you flip the page, the video or the audio continues to play and doesn't stop !
    There's a trick : on the next page and on the page before, we can place a "white" video (or a "white sound"). It means an empty short video or sound, with auto-play action. When it starts, it stops the video or the sound from the other page. That's it !
    BUT there is a problem, and this is my question :
    When you flip BACK the page, the video or audio doesn't autoplay again ! It's a real problem.
    For exemple, if the video is on the last page, when you flip it back, the video is still playing, even if you placed a white video on the page before.
    Does anyone have a solution or a trick?
    Regards,
    Vincent

  • How to stop video Autoplay when opened in new tab (before clicking on the tab)

    In Firefox on my old PC, and Safari on the current Mac, if I open a video in a new tab, the video would not auto-play, until I clicked on the tab. On Firefox on the Mac the video just auto plays. This is pretty annoying when I open 4 or 5 videos in different tabs and they all start playing. I want to click on the tab before it starts playing.
    As safari on the Mac does not play the videos automatically, I am hoping there is a way to stop it on Firefox?
    So an example is metacafe.com. If you open a video in a new tab, the video will start playing automatically, whether you click on the tab or not.
    If you open up the same site in safari, and open the video in a new tab, the video will only start playing once you have clicked on the tab.

    ...still blooming me!
    Who else the autoplay helps?
    Internet Service Providers for customers that have a 'LIMITED' monthly bandwidth.
    It makes you waste a lot of it and 'force' you to buy more EXTRA and not needed allowance!
    But above all that. WHAT ABOUT OUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE ?
    Is democracy completely dead?

  • No video/audio when playing a tv show episode in iTunes player on my Win7 laptop

    I have installed the 64 bit iTunes for my laptop, downloads the tv show just fine, when I click to watch it, the timer counts down, but there is no video or audio.  Anyone have a clue about this?
    Thanks!!

    Ok, I answered my own question. I did not think of the connection between iTunes and Quicktime....DUH!! They both install at the same time and both are Apple products. I got to thinking that I changed the speaker configuration in Quicktime to 5.1 channels, which turns out doesn't work so hot for 2 channel videos in iTunes! I put it back to 2 channels and it works again!

  • How to stop video/animation when the back/continue button is pressed

    hi! we are currently playing some of our videos via SWF. the swfs are placed on the slides and automatically play. Next and back buttons were added for navigation. One thing though is that when the next and back buttons are pressed to go to the next slide(even when the video in the swf is not yet finished) the swf still plays in the background. how do you set the triggers for this? thanks!
    by the way, we used flvplayback component in flash as3. so flash publishes both the flvplayback skin swf and the main swf of the FLA file. Then on Captivate's side, after zipping, we included the swf files there

    Yup, in the swf animation I placed some lines of code to make the slide pause but in my case since I'm playing a video on my swf pausing the slide doesn't pause the video.
    myRoot = MovieClip(root);
    mainmov = MovieClip(myRoot.parent.root);
    mainmov.rdcmndPause = 1;
    The code above will pause the slide. You can try if it works for you.

  • How to prevent video playback from getting paused when switching to another tab on Firefox for Android?

    In Firefox for Android 27.0, if you play video in one tab and while it's playing you switch to another tab, the video gets paused. I want the video to continue to play while I'm viewing another tab (so I can at least hear its sound!).
    How can I do that?
    How can I prevent Firefox for Android from pausing video playback when switching to another tab?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi hamid_ss,
    Currently Firefox for Android does this by default with embedded players. Some sites go automatically to full screen too which may be what you are running into. Try it.

  • How do you turn off audio when coming back to a branched slide?

    I have audio on a slide (like the main menu) and I want the learners to return to this slide when they get to the end of a section. However, I don't want the audio to replay. I tried creating an advanced interaction to stop the triggered audio but that isn't working. Does anyone have another approach for making this happen?
    Thank you!
    Tara

    Is this audio attached to the slide, then there is no way to stop the audio when you enter the slide a second time. The statement 'Stop triggered audio' - which tells me that you are using CP6 - will only stop audio that has been started with 'Play audio'. Both are new statements. Do not add the audio to the slide, but create this condtional action to be triggered on entering that slide:
    I checked it as you can see, and it works,

  • Can't stop the music when I leave the page.

    Hi all;
    I keep posting in the wrong area.  Sorry.  I did this post in AC2 and the answers didn't look right.  So, here I am again.
    I'm  building a  website in flash using my limited understanding of action  script.   Everything was progressing very well until I found that if I  go to one  of my example pages of my web site and play the flash video  (with audio)  and click back to my "home" button, the audio will  continue to play.   If I go back to the example page, the video is off  and when I start the  video, it plays again with the other audio.  I  hear the audio twice! I  know there is an action script to handle this  but, I can't figure it  out.
    My question is, How do I stop the audio when I click away from the example page back to the home page or any other page?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    I'm using Flash CS4 and a Mac OS operating system.
    Did I mention that I'm not very good with action scrupt but, I'm so close to finishing this web site.

    assign your component an instance name (if it doesn't already have one), eg flv and in the frame that contains that component add:
    flv.addEventListener(Event.REMOVED_FROM_STAGE,removedF);
    function removedF(e:Event):void{
    flv.stop();

  • My iPod Video hangs when changing track

    Just now, my iPod Video hung when changing to another track... So I had to reset it (something I don't want to do). Does anyone have the same problem?
    By the way, I didn't charge my iPod till it says it's full. How much would it affect the battery capacity? (It only last for about 5 to 6 hours...)

    mine does this too
    and occasionally it hangs (pauses) when changing screens
    also when i click for the album art in full screen it often takes about 5secs+ for it to register

  • Stop Video when moving to another "state"?

    Hello,
    I am not sure if this is a Flash Builder topic or a Flash Catalyst topic or I am guessing it is both.
    I  have a Catalyst that contains multiple flv clips. I am discovering that  when you play a video and then you decide to navigate to another  "state" or "location" in my case, that the video pauses. If you then  return to that state the video will start back up where it was paused.
    I am trying to figure out how to tell the program to stop all or any flv when moving to another state.
    Any help here would be great.
    Thank you.

  • After Effects stops rendering when I jump to another application, like a browser

    I'm a long time AE user. I've never seen this issue.
    When I start a composition to fully render, it's fine until I jump to another application and let it work in the background.
    As soon as I click off of AE, I get the "job finished chime" and it shows a completed render up to the point that it was at at the time I jumped off.
    On a side issue, but might be related, AE "auto hides" when I click off to another application, rather than stay on screen.
    I'm working on an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.1 OS.

    AE CS6 and later versions can all run on Yosemite.  Each has its own problems with the OS.  If you haven't updated AE, you need to do so to get the fix for Yosemite.

  • Audio not working when on apps, I.e Facebook when directed to another site and snapchat..any ideas?

    Please help..not sure what to do. I think I have a fault with the audio on my iPad. It works fine generally, when playing music and getting alerts etc but when I'm using an app such as snapchat, never had audio on the videos and also when using Facebook, if I click on a video that directs me to another site, the audio stops working then too

    H gave you the right answer BUT he didn't explain it very well!  I never "backed up" or "restored", so I wouldn't know what he was talking about either!  But now I do:
    If your Apps keep closing (linked with or without Facebook): Go to a desktop or Laptop computer only and log on  to iTunes and delete the App (like Jackpot Party.) that keeps crashing.
    Then you have to plug in the device you are using that the apps crash on and use iTunes to restore your iOS device back to factory settings.  ( After you sync and back up your device to iTunes!)
    Instructions are here on how to sync, backup and restore your mobile device (ipad, iphone, ipod, etc):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    After restore, go to iTunes store and download the App again ( if it was a game, all levels/coins will still be there!)
    I tried everything else, this is the only thing that worked! And it worked great!!

  • Video Gallery, How to Stop overlapping streams when user navigates to next item? Bug or syntax?

    My NASA Multimedia News App is exhibiting behavior that I would very much like to change. The app is in the store at
    http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/nasa-multimedia-news/7e74f3fb-b550-4ac6-b437-388f034ee6df
    If you look at one of the three video galleries, here is the scenario:
    1. Start one of the videos, for example the most recent one.
    2. without MANUALLY pausing the first video and before it finishes, scroll to the next item in the same gallery and PLAY it.
    3. two streams are now playing, audio overlapping.
    4. move on to the next item in the gallery OR GO TO A DIFFERENT PAGE/SCREEN, cover your ears....
    in fact the stream needs to stop if you navigate away from it by either starting a different video in the same gallery or when you navigate to a different screen/page in the app. and it doesn't.
    5. in fact, if you close the app by dragging it down and don't final close it by drag/hold flip or using taskmgr, if you re-open it the multiple audio streams will still be playing from where they left off.
    I don't honestly know if it is the video control or something I didn't do in the syntax (or even if something CAN be done), but with the overlapping cacophony that results, it is less than optimal. My expectations/hopes, were that if one stream was already
    playing, that moving to a new item and starting THAT stream would automatically terminate the original one that was playing so that only a single audio stream can be heard.
    I hope the issue is clear.
    Is this a bug? If it is by design, ugh. And is there a work around?

    the end user was to add the code to stop the media file playing when another one was selected.

    Thor, it is my NASA Multimedia App - I resubmitted it last night and I guess a
    different tester got it and the update went through. But the issue still exists.
    The difference between what I have in my app and that other thread is that I
    have a video GALLERY as opposed to individual players. I did try messing around
    with that  syntax
      UpdateContext({videoPause: false}); UpdateContext({videoPause: true});
    Navigate(scrHome, ScreenTransition!Fade)
     But it didn't work between screens in my App and anyway, half of the issue is
    that it wouldn't work on a single screen that contains a video gallery that has
    say 10 videos, there is no OnSelect function used. I tried experimenting to see
    if I could get syntax working at least for when the navigation is to a different
    screen, but it doesn't work for me. Probably because it is a gallery.
     Hoping that Robin has a solution...
