Stopsap and db_offline

Dear All,
I'm running a database structure check right now.
Database is online but SAP instance was not started.
Question:
If I issue a stopsap command, will it also trigger
db_offline command for database?
This is because when our server is shutdown on
os level, it calls stopsap.
I need to be able to verify if stopsap can stop the
database properly even if SAP is not started.
Thank you very much!
Regards,
Rayel

hi
stopsap all            -> make sure that the R/3 Instance and Oracle Database stopped
startsap all            -> make sure that the R/3 Instance and Oracle Database started
you can stop the individual instances using the following commands
stopsap r3<instance name>
stopsap j2ee<instance name>
If the Oracle Database is not started, tried using SAPDBA
startup/shitdown databse instance.

  • Problem in RFC between SRM and XI

he rfc's LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI lets work after to do stopsap and to return to start sap again. The only form that we have found to fix is doing 'stopsap' then 'startpap' and finally 'startsap j2ee' in XI. Somebody know so that it happens it?.

    Hi,
If you assign a WBS element to that particular PO, It should be present in EKKN(Filed Name: PS_PSP_PNR).
Please check that PO is with WBS or costcentre.

  • Error in the RFC LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI

    Hi,
The RFC LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI TCP/IP connection to strike up and all SOAP interfaces stops in XI environment.
Yesterday the same problem occur. I checked if user is lock but not locked. Just after I restarted the environment (stopsap and starsap) and I made refresh full cache http://brjgs916:50100/CPACache/refresh?mode=full
    the RFC´s TCP/IP LCRSAPRFC/SAPSLDAPI back to work.
The problem is intermittent occurs almost all days.
I found and implemented the notes 314530 and 316877 but I think this notes cannot solve this problem.
My XI environment is kernel 700 patche level 95 and Stack ABAP and Java
    11, HP-UX with Oracle 10g.
Thanks so much for your attention

Is the SLD running on the same server?
We had a similar issue and the hardware the SLD was running on was, er, unreliable!  The availability is much better these days!

  • Shell script stop and start SAP

    Hello,
Can you tell me the command to input username and password to login from shell script?
    I just know this -
    su - sidadm -c "stopsap"
But this just logs in using Username - sidadm.
how do modify this to add password also in command line?

There are tools to do exactly that without a password - it's called "sudo".
sudo is disabled by AIX team
The "other user" must have execute right too.
Since its just stopsap and startsap, they would be owned by sidadm only and executed by sidadm only through crontab
I am guessing you do not know the syntax to use password in comman line on shell script

  • I am not able to shutdown the database by using stopsap

    Dear all,
As mentioned in the subject "I am not able to shutdown the database by using stopsap". I am getting the following errors:
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program oracle<SID> because of the following errors:
0509-150   Dependent module libjox9.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.

R3 is terminated correctly by using the command stopsap and also I am able to shutdown the database normally by using the SQL command.
    Thanks for your cooperation.

Thank you Nick for your care.
I will test start/stop manually later; because the system is active and used by the users for testing purpose (not production).
Yes, LIBPATH is the same for both users.
The ownership/permisssion for the both files is
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 <SID>adm   sapsys    stopdb
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 <SID>adm   sapsys    startdb
I compared with production, it seems ok.
I started DBCheck by using the transaction DB13 and also it failed due to same errors.

  • Erron when execute stopsap from Windows

    Dear Expert,
my company use OS Windows. When I execute from command line the command "stopsap name=<SID> nr=<SYSNR> SAPDIAHOST=<host>" nothing happens. If I see the stopsap.log I read this:
    SAPSRVKILL failed on SSSMVV01_SSM_00: -2147312566
Cannot connect to DCOM Interface of Start Service: -2147312566
    sapntwaitforhalt.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.
    running sapsrvkill.exe SSSMVV01_SSM_00
    running sapntwaitforhalt.exe name=SSM nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=SSSMVV01 3600
    Please help me.
    Regards.

in general I would strongly recomment no longer to use stopsap and startsap for scripting.
as of 700 we have sapcontrol.exe which has a much wider functionality to control your SAP system.
for more information about sapcontrol just open a command box as SIDadm and type in sapcontrol.exe.
a good way to start the system is:
sapcontrol -nr 00 -prot PIPE -function Start
sapcontrol will provide returncodes which are more usefull than the one of the older tools.

  • Problem in starting the Netweaver Server...

    Hi,
We have installed Netweaver 04s in Linux x86_64 platform with Oracle 10g. The Installation went fine and it started the server by itself once the installation was complete and we were able to get the home page of the appln server. However when we gave stopsap and then startsap through command prompt, it gave the success message that the instance is started but it didn't start the server any way.
We rebooted the system and gave startsap and it started the server; we were able to deploy the applications into it as well.
Now again we gave stopsap and then startsap, and getting the same behaviour. Even after rebooting the system its not starting the server.
Any solutions for this? Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
look into the work directory of the instance, what is the latest modified file and look into it, to locate the problem.
Maybe the bootstrap parameters are not set right, or dev_jcontrol gives a clue.
What about the database? Is it up and running?
Look into the stderr files. Look into sapstart.log and sapstart.trc
The sapstart/sapstop command give no hint if the system is started successfully, it is just a standard message saying that the command itself was executed.
The VM-Parameter used are defined with the config tool.
Maybe you should read some documentation first
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a0/2b0841a6e1ef6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a0/2b0841a6e1ef6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm</a>
    to understand the startup framework.
And how to use the config tool
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/4e/d1cf8d09a94ae79319893c2537d3a0/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/4e/d1cf8d09a94ae79319893c2537d3a0/frameset.htm</a>

  • How do you flush the negative cache?

    Hi all,
I am working with NetWeaver 2004s SR3 SP14 on SuSE 10 with Oracle.  I wrote a custom login module and was trying to get SAP to load it.  At first I made some reference mistakes (in provider.xml under the references tab) and it wouldn't load.  Then I fixed the reference errors and tried to get it to load again and it still wouldn't load.  I just keep on getting the error message:
    [EXCEPTION]
    {1}#2#com.mycompany.dc.netweaver.MyLoginModule#java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
    com.mycompany.dc.netweaver.MyLoginModule
    Found in negative cache
I shut down and restarted SAP several times (using stopsap and startsap) and undeploying and redeploying my login module (the fixed version), but still, SAP refuses to load my login module because it is in the "negative cache".
If I keep the code the same, but change the name of the Java class and component name in provider.xml, then SAP happily loads my login module.
So I can work around the issue, but it is really annoying to change your configuration every time you make a mistake with the references...  So I was hoping that someone would know how to flush the negative cache.  Do I have to go into the database to do it?
    -- Katrina

    Hi Katrina,
did you found a way to flush the chache?

  • ORA-27092 when running startsap

    Hi All,
We have a weird one. Following a reboot of out AIX 6.1 box, we are unable to start SAP as it fails when starting the database:
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01116: error in opening database file 5
    ORA-01110: data file 5: '/oracle/EPD/sapdata4/sr3db_2/sr3db.data2'
ORA-27092: size of file exceeds file size limit of the process
    Additional information: 131071
    Additional information: 256001
Now, a few points that make this an odd issue.
sidadm has unlimited ulimits on this box:
    time(seconds)        unlimited
    file(blocks)         unlimited
    data(kbytes)         unlimited
    stack(kbytes)        unlimited
    memory(kbytes)       unlimited
    coredump(blocks)     unlimited
    nofiles(descriptors) unlimited
    threads(per process) unlimited
    processes(per user)  unlimited
And with the SIDADM user, I can run SQLplus and start/stop the database without issue. However, SAP is not startable for the reason above and an R3trans -d run returns the same error code.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Dear All,
I facing same error which is generated from DB13 only (not command prompt). the problem is stated after system is shutdown abnormal. after restarted, these error always generated.

You may need to check oracle metalink . this below solution may be helpful but it' s working for me.
    1. stopsap and all sap processes
    2. delete all things in /tmp
    3. check your user and group <sid>adm, ora<sid>
    Ex:
    sapsys:  devadm,sapadm,daaadm
    dba:        :oradev,devadm
    oper:      oradev,devadm
    4. change /etc/security/limits:

    Hi Basant,
Check out the following threads which have discussed and even solved the same issue:-
    1. J2ee dispatcher can not start
    2. Dispatcher Exitcode=-2

One more thing, I think you should post this question in any one of the other forums too...like SAP NetWeaver Platform/Web AS/Installation..

  • Change the Standard Installation Directory of SMD Agent

    Hi Everyone,
Standard Installation Directory of SMD Agnet is /usr/sap/SMD which I want to change & Install the SMD Agent
    under /usr/sap/<SID>/SMD directory
I dont want maintain soft link way
Is it possible , If yes then How ??
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Deepak Gosain

    Dear Deepak Gosain
Keep in mind that Diagnostics Agent 7.11 is the new version for SAP Solution Manager EHP1 > SP20. Depending on your current version of Solution Manager you might want to start installating the new version.
The new version has it's own unique SID and acts like a SAP system: for example for stop/start it uses stopsap and startsap commands, instance profiles and SAP JVM instead of OS JVM.
Structure in new version is /usr/sap/<SID>/SDMA<instance no> where SID needs to be unique (so not your existing SAP system SID).
    Kind regards

  • TDMS - time based reduction - receiver system deletion

    Experts,
I'm doing a time based reduction.  I'm on the step "Start Deletion of Data in Receiver System".  It's been running for over 18hours.

When I click on the "Task" button, I see it has completed 8,444 of 12,246  sub activites.  There are 3,802 not yet started.
We're on all the latest levels of DMIS and ECC.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Ashley and Niraj,
Hey, I'm all for tips/tricks so don't worry about messing up my thread.
I completely shut down the central/control system via stopsap and restarted.  Still it was in "running" status but no jobs were running on sender/rec or central/control.
So I tried the trouble-shooting but it was un-clear to me what to do.
I ended up highlighting the phase I reference earlier, then doing "execute" again.  The status changes from the "truck" to a green flag and I started to see jobs run again on the receiver system.  Again they have stopped, but I see another job scheduled to run in a few minutes....It's just weird, I didn't run into this on my last time-based copy.
I'll post a few things I've learned to increase performance:
    RDISP/MAX_WP_RUNTIME = 0
At LEAST 25 WP and 25 BCK procs
    rec/client = OFF
    RDISP/BTCTIME = 60
    RUN STATS regularly
    TAKE OUT OF ARCHIVELOG MODE

  • ICM Monitor Not Running

When we run a cold-back up proceedure by using scripts stopsap and startsap, our ICM goes down.  We are not able to bring it back up running startsap again manaully, instead we have to reboot the server.  We noticed in the ICM Monitor that  we are getting a **warning message "Number of sockets supported on this host (1016) less than parameter icm/max_sockets (2048).  Some how even after reboot, when the ICM is up again, I still see this warning in our log file.  Any idea on the root problem of this ICM going down and if this warning message is a part of the problem?

    Hi,
look at  SAP Note 737625 - Parameter recommendations for the ICM
