Storage locations assignment

Hi
Right now my client is having the below storage locations
1. Raw materilas
2 Semifinished
3 Finished materilas
4.Spare parts
Now they are going for warehouse management.
I need suggestion
1. If I assign all these storage locations to warehouse, what is the advantage and disadvantages?
2.If I assign only one storage location assign to warehpuse and transfer all these storage locations stocks to single storage location, what are the advantages and disadvantages.
Since after WM implementation we manage the stock at differnt storage types.
Please suggest me the best solution.

Hi Srinivas,
The both question are seems like one or the other way, see my answers
1) Manage Different Stocks using Storage types
Advantage
i.) SAP WM Provided excellent standard storage type functionality to keep various stocks (Raw materilas, Semifinished,Finished materilas and Spare parts). So that you can manage all stocks under one storage location in one warehouse.
Disadvantage
ii.) Based on the storage location if you are using any custom functionality (to store or remove), that will not work.
2) If you keep the stocks in four storage location, those are assigned to one WM, In this case if you want do Stock Transfer
Advantages
i.)The Four storage locations geographically different places and then if you want manage one WM, this will be ok.
ii.)If you want to manage the stocks strictly in the separate locations, due to products characteristics or HU Managed finished you have to maintain separate storage location (SAP will now allow HU Managed and Non HU managed in one Storage location)
Disadvantage
i.)Due to space constraint, If you want to move stocks for temporarily from one storage location to another storage location under one warehouse, you have to create transfer posting in IM and then you have to create Posting Change Notification, Transfer Order at WM level (four steps involved here i.e Transfer Posting at IM level , PCN Creation, TO Creation and TO Confirmation at WM level)
Feel free to ask me if you have any questions
Thanks,
Madhu

    Hi
Fundamentally SAP defines storage location in completely different way than it defines the plant / sales org / purchase org. Storage location is not independent org element. Depending on the operation, one or more storage locations are defined within a plant. I am not sure about your business requirement where you want to have a common storage location for multiple plants. Although SAP allows you to have the same storage location code for more than one plant, it is just the name. In terms of inventory management and accounting, they are different entities under their parent plant. If we have one single storage location for multiple plant, then the purpose of having different plant apparently gets defeated. Probably we can have only plant only. If the storage area is same, there may be more than one logical division of storage locations. If you can explain your requirement in little more details, probably we can discuss better.

  • Link material to profit center at storage location level

    Hello,
I have one plant 0001,  two storage location assigned to this plant (MAG1, MAG2).
In " MAG1", I am keeping the consignment stock (stock blongs to my vendor), hence when I create the material at the storage location I need that profit center be set to PF1
"MAG2" is my own stock location, so when I create material at MAG2 level, I need that profit center be set as PF2.
Does standard SAP allows such scenario.
Is there any possibility to map this scenario
    Many thanks for your help

    Dear,
Basically GUIXT script work mainly from Technical point of view..
Here they can write codes accordinly so that if you want to make any sort of changes in the application or if you want to put some restriction parameters then by writing codes, it is very much possible to get the desired output.
    Hope this clears your doubt.

  • Stock transfer between Plant/Storage location to Plant/Storage location

    Dear Experts,
This is a MM component of SAP Retail.
We have 4 brands ( Plants of type B, Plants of type C etc) that needs inventory from the same Distribution center (Plant A) for some common products. Here the direction is to prioritize the inventory per brand. The requirement is one brand should not take the inventory of the other brand.
To overcome this problem , the solution proposed is to have different storage location for different brands in the same DC.
When we run replenishment  planning for the brands and do a ATP check, the availability check should consider only the one issuing storage location in the DC which we allocated for the brand.
I do see the following set up in SPRO and I have done the following.
Step1: Activate Stock Transfer between Storage Locations
SPRO->Material Management->Purchasing->Purchase Order->set up stock transport order->set up stock transport order between storage locations-> u2018Activate Stock transfer between storage locationsu2019
Step2: Assign Delivery Type and checking rule according to storage
SPRO->Material Management->Purchasing->Purchase Order->set up stock transport order->set up stock transport order between storage locations->Assign Delivery Type and Checking Rule According to Storage
Step3: Define Shipping Data for Stock Transfer between Storage Locations
SPRO ->Material Management ->Purchasing ->Purchase Order ->set up stock transport order ->set up stock transport order between storage locations -> Define Shipping Data for Stock Transfers between Storage Locations

Step4: Define Rule for Determination off Shipping Point
SPRO->Material Management->Purchasing->Purchase Order->set up stock transport order->set up stock transport order between storage locations -> Set-up Storage-Location u2013dependent shipping point determination->Define rule for determination of shipping point
Step5: Shipping Point Assignment According to Storage Location
SPRO->Material Management->Purchasing->Purchase Order->set up stock transport order->set up stock transport order between storage locations-> Set-up Storage-Location u2013dependent shipping point determination-> Assign Shipping Points According to Storage Location
Question.No:1- After completing the above set up  in me21n, the issuing storage location field is greyed out. I am not able to enter any value here. Can you please help.
    Question.No:2
I do see the following setting.
Under IMG ---> Material Management ---> Purchasing --> Purchase Order --> Set up Stock Transport Order -->Business Add-In for Determination of Issuing Storage Location
    Display the IMPLEMENTATION
Double click on the method GET_SUPPLYING_SL
    Click the Execute button
Click the detail button on IF_EX_MD_EXT_SUP
    Execute GET_SUPPLYING_SL
There is a prerequisite for this BADI .I have done those things. What i dont understand is where to force the combination of supplying site/issuing stor.loc/receiving site/receiving stor.loc
    Kindly provide your inputs.

  • Outbound Delivery and Storage Location

    hey everybody,
    this is our status quo:
we create a outbound delivery based on a sales order & at the end of the creation of the delivery we are doing the goods issue immediately to do the material movement. we do that, because we need a material document for the physical packer in the storage. at the start of the physical packing he gives this material document to the person in the warehouse and this person picks the needed material.
we need a solution for our new scenario:
in the future we want use handling units within deliverys. in these HU's we want to pack the material included in the delivery note.
    here are the steps:
    1. outbound delivery creation
    2. we need a material movement (material document) from one storage location (A) to an other storage location (B)
    3. the packer is packing the material physical and within SAP in the new created handling units
    4. when the packing operation is finished, the packer gives information to SD person and the goods issue will be done. material movement will be done from the storage location (B).
does anyone has an idea for us?
another information: we don't want to do the material movement manually
    best regards & TIA
    chris

    Dear,
As per standard SAP , once you assign the storage location in OUTBOUND DELIVERY, system will tend to pick the storage location assigned to it.
But as per your client requirement, you need to do the transfer posting from one storage location to other storage location and then you would like to post the "Goods issue" from the new storage location.
If it has to be done, you need to update the "Outbound delivery"  with new storage location before posting the  goods issue.
Is there any business advantage with this new process,If  so i can suggest you one work around if you are doing transfer posting with respect to "Each out bound delivery"
    Details  as Follows:
    Step-1:
While transferring the stock from one storage location to other storage location(Movement type:311 single step), mention the out bound delivery number in "Document header text" or "Material Slip".
    Step-2:
Then take a report of those transfer posting documents and then update all the outbound deliveries for new storage location. To update in mass, you can set BDC with the help of ABAPER
    Step:3
    Then do "Post goods issue".

  • Storage Location valuation level

    Hello all,
We are using moving average price (MAP) at plant level valuation. We have several Storage Locations assigned to the same plant. We have several Client non-valuated goods-receipt at Storage location. That increases the quantity, but not the value. Therefore, of course those actions
changes the MAP. We are not using batches or WM module.
How can we not change the MAP without using batches? Is that possible to put a valuation level at storage location?
Can anyone help us to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance very much!
    Best regards,
    Pedro Grabulho.

No you do not have to change OU which is plants in your case.
    1. The procedure is to activate split valaution using OMW0(zero) t-code, which is active in your case, I guess.
    2. Define Global Valuation Type. You can define Storage locations here or it can be any thing else. Use T-code OMWC. (BTW, every time you add one storage location, you have to make appropriate changes here also, It is not like your storage location becomes valuation type)
    3. Define Global Valuation Categories.
    4. Attach Categories to OU. (OU can either be Plant or Company code, there is no 3rd option). You can atttach in one or more OU(plant)where you want it active. 3rd & 4th steps are in the same T-code OMCW.
    5. Using the MM01 now extend the material to the newly created Valuation Types. (Accounting 1 view)
    Thanks,
    Ashish

  • Movement Type 340 doesn't have Storage Location Associated with it

When a batch is given a new valuation type, there is no storage location associated with that movement, because the movement would be for the entire batch obviuosly.  In BI though, that creates a problem, because the movement needs to have a storage location assigned to it. Here is an example of the problem:
Storage Location----Batch--Xbuy Current Stock-----Cert Current Stock
    ..........0001...................122....................100......................................0
Then batch 122 is moved from xbuy to cert.  But, since there is no storage location associated with that movement, the current stock now looks like this:
Storage Location----Batch--Xbuy Current Stock-----Cert Current Stock
    ............#.......................122...................-100...................................100
    ..........0001...................122....................100......................................0
But it should look like this:
Storage Location----Batch--Xbuy Current Stock-----Cert Current Stock
    ..........0001...................122......................0......................................100
We are using the standard SAP Extractor for this inventory model, and I am curious as to whether there is a fix to this out there, or how we should go about fixing it?
    Thanks,
    Owen

The problem I am having is kind of a display and a data issue.  All the data from the source system is coming over to BI in this case, but the problem is that the two systems are fundamentally different.  In ECC, a batch can change from one valuation type to another with no thought to storage location, and that works just fine.  However, when that same record is in BI, if it doesn't have a value for every characteristic in the model (including storage location in this case), then the ad-hoc report won't drill down correctly.
    To answer your options:
    1.  We don't have the option of just not showing storage location, because this problem would render storage location useless because of data inconsistencies, and storage locations are an important part of our business.
    2.  We have several storage locations, so this will not work either.
Also, since we have several different storage locations we use, there is no way to just assign storage location 0001 to every empty record.  However, I am thinking of a solution along these lines.  If there was somewhere we could go to see the storage location of the particular batch, then we could fill the storage location at the time of the data load.  The problem we would need to overcome though is timing.  How do we do this for historical data that has moved storage locations?  What if the movement goes to the delta queue, and then the storage location changes?
    Thanks,
    Owen

  • Unable to Storage Location in PPOMA

    Hi SRM experts,
I'm working on SRM7.0 and have the following issue:
    Tcode: PPOMA_BBP
    Tab: Extended Attributes
    Radio button: Storage Locations
I am able to select my R/3 backend system from drop down but unable find any entries for Storage Locations i.e. when I press F4 in filed stor.location, message "No values found" is displayed.
If I enter the Storage Locations manually (which I have created in R/3) and press enter, message "No storage location assigned to value, Message no. BBP_ATTR017" is dispalyed.
Additional info: I have successfully replicated locations (i.e. Plants) from R/3 and able to view the list of Plants from F4 help in the radio button Locations. Due to this, I'm finding an error "Application "Confirmation": Define the attribute LAG" for an user in PPOMA & unable to create any shopping cart.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Hari

    Hi,
To update the location from ECC you need run the report
    BBP_ATTR_TEXT_REFRESH. Please do the following:
    Go to transaction SE38 -> Enter BBP_ATTR_TEXT_REFRESH -> Execute (F8)
-> Enter 'Attribute'-'LAG', "your backend system" and EN
-> Run the report (make sure the test mode option is deflagged)
    -> Select all -> Refresh,
this updates the descriptions from the backend.
If this not solve the issue, please check in your backend system if
the note 1175255 is applied. If not, please apply it.
After performing above mentioned steps - go PPOMA_BBP while adding storage locations under Ext attributes tab:
    1. Input your 'Source System' and select applicable 'Storage location' from the dropdown list and do not key in manually.
Hope this should resolve your issue.

  • Storage Locations Question

Hi - Can you please confirm that we can have storage locations in different countries?  I was thinking it may not be possible as there could be some tax implications.  Is it possible if it is all in EU or any where?

    Hi
    As per Tax determination Rules
    1. Country & Region of the Delivery Plant
2.Country & Region of the Ship to party
    3. Tax classification of Customer (Ship to Party Master)
    4. Tax classification of Material(material master)
Storage location Assigned under the Plant
If storage location assigned in different plant, Tax Determination also Redermine.  plant is same for both storage location as per rules same tax will applicable.
    I hope it will help.

  • Matl master Vs storage location

    Dear All,
I have created a plant(3000) and assigned two storage location 200 and 201 in SPRO.
I have created a  material master for MATRL1 with storage location 200 only and not with 201.
But when i create PO or Contract for MATL1 and storage location 201(for which matl not extended), systems accepts PO or contract.
Whether this is SAP std behaviour?

  • Storage Location in SRM

    Hello,
We are on SRM5.0 and I want to know where the storage locations are stored in SRM and the storage location address.
    Thanks!

    Hi Antoinette,
The Storage locations get replicated to SRM system when their respective plants get replicated.
They get replicated to SRM system from ECC system using a programme - BBP_LOCATIONS_GET_ALL or  BBP_LOCATIONS_GET_SELECTED or BBP_LOCATIONS_GET_FROM_SYSTEM.
The same can be seen under Extended attributes in the SRM organization structure under locations and the Storage locations will get replicated under Storage locations tab of Extended Attributes.
You can check and maintain the same from the search help.
You can check all the Plants replicated to SRM system in BBP_LOCMAP table.
If all the plants get replicated successfully then all the storage locations assigned to that plant will get automatically replicated to SRM system.
Please let us know in case of any further clarifications.

  • Question about storage location

    Hi :
Some storage location have no backflush functionality and some have, that is to say, when confirming production order via co11n, some component failed to goods issue automatically since the storage location assigning to it has no backflush functionality even we had set backflush for this material in material master data, where/how to configure it?

    Hi,
Better you mark the component backflushing indicator in the Routing of the material instead of the material master.
Also maintain the storage location in the material master in MRP 2 view & work scheduling as applicable.
Note, these setting will work only for future orders.
for current orders, enter the storage location in CO02 & for missing parts in COGI.
    Regards

  • Replenishment between Storage Location with MRP Planning

    Dear PP Gurus,
I need you expertise on the below question.
I have a plant with multiple Storage Locations. One Storage Location is Main Warehouse and another ilocation s External Warehouse (3PL) where excess stock are kept due to storage capacity in the Main Warehouse.
Now the requirement is replenish the stock to Main Warehouse from the External Warehouse with Stock Transfer using MRP trigger the Stock Transfer.
I know the setting in MRP 4 View in the material master, the Indicator to set to 2, maintain a reoder point in the Sloc: 1200 and Replenishment Qty: 1500 and Special Procurement Type: (what should be the setting)
My question is where to set the target Sloc and source Sloc, then only system will trigger the replenishment Stock Transfer?
The storage location which is plan separately, will have a different segment. Therefore, in terms of the availability check for the Sales Order it will consider as normal based on the scope of check.
    Appreciate the reply
    Thanks & Regards
    Pooja

    Dear ,
1.You need  to set up the MRP for Plant with group of storage location  and run MRP-MD01 .You can try SCOPE of planning -OM0E.
As an information : In standard MRP I, f you have several storage location for your plant, you cannot plan for them separately unless you assign them to a separate MRP area.If a storage location (alone) is assigned to an MRP area, it means you wan to plan for it separately. If several storage locations are assigned to an MRP area (or let's say to a plant), it means you want to plan using all of them - and you cannot choose only one and plan for it (you can exclude a SLoc from planning w/o assigning it to MRP area).
2.Find steps for config for activating Sloc to Sloc transfer within plant using STO : -
follow path: SPRO--> Materials Management -->Purchasing -->Purchase Order -->Set up Stock Transport Order -->Set Up Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations
    1. Activate Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations
    2. Assign Delivery Type and Checking Rule According to Storage Location
purchase document category 'F' , here use PO type UB, supplying plant, issue sloc and delivery type , (prefer to create new delivery type by copying delivery type 'NL' replenish delivery
    3. Define Shipping Data for Stock Transfers Between Storage Locations
for plant defind sales org and distribution chenal and devision
select the pline and go to sloc
assign there customer (created for sloc)
    4. Define Rule for Determination of Shipping Point
for newly created delivery type set L storage location specific shiping poing determination
    5. Assign Shipping Points According to Storage Location, assign her sloc based shiping poing determination
at last when you will create PO put issue storage location, system will determine shiping data based on config done.
after this process will be same as STO plant to plant using shiping.
You will need to mention the issuing storage location during posting the delivery,
    ie, ME21N - Create STO
    VL10B - Create Delivery
VL02N - Post Goods issue - here you will need to mention the issuing storage location
Refer : STO process -Std in SAP
Hope it is clear to you .
    Regards
