Stored procedure in Ejb 3

Hello friends
I am working a project .my objective is to call stored procedure in the ejb session bean class.but each time i am getting same following problem
Project :

I am doing following step :
Step 1:
i have created a stored procedure in the oracle 11 g data base
create or replace
PROCEDURE EXAMPLE
( j_job_id IN varchar2
,j_job_title IN varchar2
,j_job_min_salary IN number
,j_job_max_salary IN number
,j_job_id_out OUT varchar2
AS
BEGIN
INSERT INTO jobs (job_id,job_title,min_salary,max_salary)
VALUES (j_job_id,j_job_title,j_job_min_salary,j_job_max_salary);
END EXAMPLE;
Step 2:
then i have created a simple jobs entity class.
@Entity
@NamedQueries({
@NamedQuery(name = "Jobs.findAll", query = "select o from Jobs o")
@NamedStoredProcedureQuery(
name="EXAMPLE", procedureName="EXAMPLE",
parameters = {
@StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter = "job_id",name = "job_id",direction=Direction.IN),
@StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter= "job_title",name="job_title",direction=Direction.IN),
@StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter= "min_salary",name="min_salary",direction=Direction.IN),
@StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter= "max_salary",name="max_salary",direction=Direction.IN)
public class Jobs implements Serializable {}
Step3:
then i have created a session bean class and also created a method which called the stored procedure
public void callStoredProcedure(){
Query query=em.createNamedQuery("EXAMPLE");
query.setParameter("job_id", "ADD123");
query.setParameter("job_title", "ADD_1234");
query.setParameter("min_salary", 1234);
query.setParameter("max_salary", 3456);
query.getResultList();
Step4:
i have created a client to access this session bean method
public static void main(String [] args) {
try {
final Context context = getInitialContext();
SessionEJB sessionEJB = (SessionEJB)context.lookup("StoredProcedure-Model-SessionEJB#service.SessionEJB");
sessionEJB.callStoredProcedure();
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
please help me out from where i am missing some thing . i try every thinks but i do not solve this problem .thanks i advance

thanks for reply .
i have removed the out parameter and my stored procedure look like following statement :
create or replace
PROCEDURE EXAMPLE
( j_job_id IN varchar2
,j_job_title IN varchar2
,j_job_min_salary IN number
,j_job_max_salary IN number
AS
BEGIN
INSERT INTO jobs (job_id,job_title,min_salary,max_salary)
VALUES (j_job_id,j_job_title,j_job_min_salary,j_job_max_salary);
END EXAMPLE;
But still i am getting same problem

  • Calling stored procedure from EJB in JSever

    I have some trouble to call stored procedure from EJB deployed to JServer on Oracle8i (815).
    I have been able to sucessfully test the stored procedure using thin client JDBC driver. But when I user the default connection in JServer, the stored procedure never got called. Is there any restriction of EJB in JServer?
    Thanks

    Thanks man! that was a great help. looks like i am almost there. i created those items t obe hidden.
    now i am passing three parameters to the procedure. my url for that column value looks like this,
    javascript:P65_PARTITION_ID=#PARTITION_ID#;P65_DBC=#DBC#;P65_FILE_ID=#FILE_ID#;doSubmit('Sku_Save');
    the #DBC# parameter is a name of the person that has spaces(firstname lastname). i am getting a javascript error saying,
    Line: 1
    Char: 37
    Error:Expected ';'
    i see that char 37 is the space after firstname.
    any idea how i should get rid of this error.
    Also, as you have been very helpful, a question further beyond :). the above procedure will return a OUT varchar parameter. i guess i have to create another item for that. how do i read it and display just below my report as text.
    Thanks Again!

  • How to call PLSQL Stored procedure in ADF?

    Hi!
    I am using adf for our development. We have existing stored packages and I want to use them. The problem is how can I call those PLSQL stored procedure in ADF.
    Thanks in advance
    alvin.

    Hi,
    a stored procedure is called by the business service. If e.g. your business service is ADF Business Components then you call a stored procedure from the Application Module's transaction. Call a PLSQL procedure using a prepared statement. Similar you call stored procedures from EJB or TopLink business services
    For ADF Business Components see

  • EJB 3.0 Persistence API and Stored Procedures

    Does the EJB 3.0 Persistence API in any way prescribe or facilitate the use of Stored Procedure calls? Given the recent popularity of using (database) server APIs consisting of Stored Procedures that are addressed by ORM frameworks for performing the DML operations and of course the general usefulness of stored procedures for specific data related operations, there definitely is a need for clarity on using the straightforward Persistence operations in combination with calls to Stored Procedures. Can we use the Native Query for executing CallableStatements? Can we get to a Connection instance from the EntityManager? Can we easily use the results from a Stored Procedure invocation to refresh our Domain Objects - or is that all application logic in which the EntityManager cannot help us?
    If the spec does not help us at this point, do you know how TopLink will deal with this topic?
    Thanks for any help you can give me!
    Best regards,
    Lucas Jellema

    I'm am also interested in a response to this post. I've just upgraded to JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 and am interested in making calls to stored procedures.
    I've found examples of just creating my own session beans but it seems I would have to hard code the datasource name. Does anyone know if I can get around this using the entity manager supplied by the tool?
    thanks,
    Dan

  • EJB from stored procedure lookup problem

    We are running a test case with in an EJB deployed to Oracle 8.1.6, accessing it from a Java stored procedure. It works okay if the stored procedure is called a limited number of times from a single client (client is non-Java). However, for performance testing, we are trying to run it several hundred times in sequence to better simulate the eventual production environment. Consistently on the 216th call, it fails with a NamingException from the InitialContext lookup. We can restart the client again and it will fail on the same call.
    Sounds like something memory related to me. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm using standard EJB client code in my stored procedure, instantiating an InitialContext, performing a lookup on the EJB, performing a home interface create, then accessing an EJB method.
    Thinking it might be that my test was too fast for whatever garbage collection is being done on the server, I tried a 2 second delay between invocations--same problem occurs, however. Should I be making a call to remove my EJBs when my stored procedure ends? If so, how would I do that?
    I did try making the handle to my EJB a static variable within the stored procedure and only "creating" the EJB once. That works okay with a single client, but if I run 2 clients simultaneously, 1 will work for awhile and then eventually die trying to call the EJB method--while the other client continues to run successfully.
    I'm stumped. Any insight or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    My DBA bumped up the large_pool_size and java_pool_size settings and the problem went away. I couldn't convince him to bump the settings one at a time, so am not sure which one was at the root of the problem.
    As I looked at the trace logs on the server, I also noticed that we were getting intermittent "peer disconnected socket" messages during the testing. That appears to have gone away with the pool size increases, also--in case that helps out anyone else.

  • Stored procedure, EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces

    Hi!
    I am currently working on a Web application using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces. A part of the
    business logic is already stored in the database as stored procedures, so we need to call those
    procedures (instead of named queries) through a EJB and represent the data on the web tier.
    Where can I find an extensive tutorial using this technology? There is no such tutorial in the Oracle Learning Library.
    Maybe somebody can provide a link and/or example.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Calling EJB from Java Stored Procedures

    Hi,
    I am trying to call an Enterprise Java Bean from stored procedure. This stored procedure calls a java program. As long as it is a simple java program it works fine and loadjava.exe does not give any problem (neither compile-time nor run-time).
    It is not working when I am trying to call EJB from it. It is giving compile-time error.
    If anybody has implemented the same please suggest how to go forward.
    thanks in advance,
    Shashank Agarwal

    I tried the same thing without any luck. I assume you are using OC4J for your EJB ...
    The compiling issue may be because you don't have the classes in your EJB client jar loaded into the database. Once those classes are loaded, you should loadjava without any problem.
    However, you won't be able to call the EJB server because the EJB client (your Java code in the DB) will need the OC4J environment (oc4j.jar). I have tried to load oc4j.jar into the DB as well, and that was a big mess and nothing worked. My DB is 8.1.7, maybe the new 9i have OC4J libs bundled?!?
    I looked around and only found 2 alternatives:
    1. Write a JSP page that acts like an EJB client, then use URLConnection in your DB java code to send params to the JSP for it to invlode the EJB
    2. Replace the JSP with RMI code, and use RMI instead of URLConnection in your DB code to invloke the EJB client.
    If you find any other solution, please share it here.
    Good luck!

  • Calling an EJB deployed in OC4J from a Java Stored Procedure

    Hi all,
    Well, I've been trying to figure this out for a bit now and haven't come up with a solution.
    I have a Java Stored Procedure in a 9i database and would like to call an EJB deployed in the OC4J Container but DO NOT want to load the various Orion JAR files into the database.
    I get hung up on the JNDI piece.
    Has anyone figured out how to do this?
    Got some code?
    Thanks!

    Doug,
    This is not possible in Oracle9i Release1. in the upcoming Oracle9i DB R2, we will support loading a client-side jars of oc4j (oc4jclient.jar) in the database and call-out EJBs in 9iAS
    Please look at this thread Re: Compile procedures for a detailed dicussion on this topic.

  • How to call EJB deployed on OC4J from java stored procedure?

    Hello,
    I'd like to call EJB from java stored procedure. My example works fine from command line, but the problem seems to be with deployment of this code into database. Especialy I'm wondering how to reference jars like oc4jclient.jar, ejb.jar, ... from java stored procedure.
    Is there some example how to do that ?

  • Stored Procedure calling from EJB

    Can i call a stored procedure from a EJB. First time attempt.
    IF some details available will help me a lot

    You may just use JDBC to call a stored procedure from a BMP
    bean. Below is a section from the "Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide
    and Reference":
    As an example of using Oracle syntax, here is a PL/SQL code
    snippet that creates a stored function. The PL/SQL function gets
    a character sequence and concatenates a suffix to it:
    create or replace function foo (val1 char)
    return char as
    begin
    return val1 || 'suffix';
    end;
    Your invocation call in your JDBC program should look like:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@<hoststring>", "scott", "tiger");
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall ("begin ? := foo(?);
    end;");
    cs.registerOutParameter(1,Types.CHAR);
    cs.setString(2, "aa");
    cs.executeUpdate();
    String result = cs.getString(1);

  • EJBs and Stored Procedures

    Hello!
    I want to bind an EJB (probably an BMP entity bean) to the result of a stored procedure.
    Can this be done? Are there any examples? thx

    You would be after the JDBC CallableStatement interface which is part of JDBC 2.0
    Most of the EJB books have a chapter on JDBC which will include it, there are probably examples on the web but I'm afraid I don't know where to find them.

  • EJB Entity beans ,JDBC Stored procedures

    Hi ,
    I am new to EJB and i have some general questions
    ---Every table in an existing database is an entity bean for my application?
    --- how do i define the queries in the entity bean ? (With PreparedStatement ?)
    ---The persistent fields,the ejbmethods,constructors, the table relationships, the prepared statements and stored procedures, are defined in the entity beans ?
    --- how do i define the primary Keys in an Entity Bean !!! I will use EJB 2.1 and BMP
    thanks in advance ...

    Sandeep...
    I have dblinks going all over the place. What you are talking about is a clustered or distributed database. That is the future (or present ) of large databases. My code is set up because an 'architecture' is not yet available in the database itself to support the concepts I've posted to Steve in other threads.
    I fully believe that we'll eventually have BC4J ( or something like it ) directly in the database. I fully believe that the database will load balance these across a cluster of databases, within the database structure itself. For example... there is NOTHING to stop the JVM from deciding that it needs to load balance and submit the thread to a remote machine for processing... independent of creating a "middle tier" outside the database.
    I believed that client-server model was flawed for most (not all) applications in the 80's. Looking at the "application tier" model I have the same feeling that we're creating an overly complex scheme at the wrong layer... just pushed back one stage so that we have to rewrite everything...
    If you go back to the megalithic server design ( or cluster of servers ) with a thin thin front end... just why is the middle tier needed under the scenario I've outlined?
    As such, stored procedures/triggers be they in java or pl/sql seems best bet to me... seeing's how a call spec to java or a pl/sql wrapper is transparent to the caller using jdbc or any other future technology.
    grin Way outside the scope of the universe today... I see it as inevitable.

    You need to open all the cursors in the PLSQL ie., cursors should be initialized in your PLSQL package. JCA DB Adapter tries to open the cursor without checking whether its there or not..If you cant change the PLSQL package, raise a SR with Oracle for a patch.This would be considered as Enhancement Request.
