Storing a BLOB as a File

I am new to using JDBC and would appreciate any help. I am trying to extract a BLOB from a database and store it as a file in the operating system. Can anyone give me clues as to how to go about this?

Once your query has been executed and your result set is return to you, you can use:
// assuming that resultSet is already declared
// and it was assigned when the query was executed
Blob b = resultSet.getBlob(); // get the blob from the database
// stream to read from
InputStream inStream = b.getBinaryStream();
// stream to write to
// note that nameOfFIle is a string or file object
FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(nameOfFile);
byte [] readArray = new byte[128]; // get a buffer to read into
while(inStream.read(readArray) >= 0) // read 128 bytes
  out.write(readArray); // write those bytes out to a file
in.close(); // close input stream
out.close(); // close output streamI haven't compile or tested this code, it is only an idea of how to do it.
