This most likely has nothing to do with yaourt, or even Arch, and everything to do with tickr - the current release is over a year old, so it's not surprising it knows nothing about gcc5.
Contact the tickr dev, see what he says.
<edit>Actually, scratch all that. I just ran it here, with gcc 5.1.0, and it built fine, so there's something wrong with your setup. I used makepkg, as I usually do, not yaourt, but that shouldn't make a difference.

• Strange system log error from Photoshop CS4

Hi.
I keep getting this strange system log error from Photoshop CS4.
It comes after a wile when using PS CS4.
I tried to chance the memory settings and scratch disc to see if that helped. It didn't.
I also checked all my ram for anything bad. 16GB in my Mac Pro Intel OS X 10.5.6
Everything is updated to latest included Adobe apps.
This is the system log error

• Strange ORA-01044 error

Hi Guys,
I'm getting a very strange ORA-01044 error:
Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException ORA-01044: size 87160000 of buffer bound to variable exceeds maximum 288212783965667328    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src, String procedure)*
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleError(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, String procedure, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src)*
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
As you can see, the buffer size does not exceed the maximum stated, yet it is still causing an exception.
Some background.. A new parameter has been added to a stored proc that was originally working fine, this new parameter is an associative array of numbers.
On the ODP.Net side, I create a parameter that has a collection type of "*PLSQLAssociativeArray*" and Oracle DB Type of "*Int32*".
Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?

Hi,
What db version?
There is an older bug where this error would be raised if the requested buffer size exceeded the granule size of the SGA. That was from the 9.2 timeframe as I recall.
Regards,
Mark

• Strange question mark error while opening pdf files in adobereader from SAP

Hi Gurus
We are having a strange intermittent problem with Adobe Reader. When we try to open PDF files from SAP Frontend we get an error pop-up. The pop-up does not have any text. The title of the pop-up has "Adobe Reader". There is a blue question mark and an OK button.
This issue occurs few times a day
This issue does not occur in Windows XP.
Since past few weeks, we have been trying to find some error/warning/atleast some text in log files of SAP, OS, Adobe Reader, Registry entries, Event Viewer. So far, we have not found anything.
SAP is not able to help as this issue occurs intermittently and said when they tried, the issue did not occur. They made two attempts and in each attempt they tried 10 times to reproduce the issue. This issue occurs intermittently.
Environment
SAP R/3 4.7 EE SAP_Basis 620 Support Package 61
Windows Vista Enterprise
Adobe Reader 9.0 and Adobe Reader 9.1 (tried with both versions)
SAPGUI 710 Patch 12 (latest patch). It also occured in Patch 11.
Please suggest
Thank you
Pavan

Thank you for the quick reply.
We tried many notes from Service Market Place. Also, Windows Team is in contact with Adobe.
As per Adobe's suggestions, we tried changing preferences of Adobe Reader. We think it might be a problem with SAP Frontend.
Present status - Issue still exists. nothing works.
Thank you

• [SOLVED] Strange Hard Drive Errors - Read Only Filesystem?

Solution: Discard old laptop, buy new laptop
I have an Acer Aspire 5103WLMi. For about 2 months now, Arch has been running smoothly. Until 2 weeks ago.
It all started when I tried to install and configure autofs on Arch x86_64. On the next reboot, all manner of errors were printed to the screen, to the effect that the internal hard drive was only being mounted read-only, rendering the system unusable. I tried to find a solution, but there were no references to read-only anywhere; fstab, grub etc. None that I could find.
I tried reinstalling. However, x86_64 Arch refused to boot properly first time due to the exact same error; and I *know* that I'm configuring everything correctly. I managed (somehow) to coerce i686 Arch to install, and things "work".
Seemingly out of the blue, during normal operation, all running applications will stop, and spit out error after error to the effect of "Cannot Write to Read Only Filesystem!". Sakura won't load (Input/Output error, apparently), and the only way to shut down the laptop is a hard reset (I can't log in as root or use sudo because it wants to write to the filesystem first, which it obviously can't.
Now, I'm going to be giving the insides of this laptop a good cleanout this weekend, and I'm in the process of backing up all of my data, but I was wondering if anyone else has come across a similar form of misbehaviour; or (with a bit of luck) some potential solutions?
This is very peculiar, because there seems to be no reason why the laptop suddenly loses write permissions to the hard drive. Cheers.
Edit: I think I should point out that my /boot partition is Ext2, and / and /home are Ext3

When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle.
After command completion occurred, registers were:

Could this truly be referring to my problem, since the 'logs' show that the *exact same* error occurred many times.
Not that this tells me how to fix it...
Well, if anyone knows if there is a solution, I'd love to know. If the only solution is to ditch the Hard Drive, fair enough. Either way: I'm backing up all of my important data ASAP.
Cheers.
Oh, and kclive18, after I noticed that I couldn't get onto my Drive, I reinstalled arch, leaving no trace of /etc/autofs/auto.media.
Additionally, somehow I have now been able to install Arch x86_64, but the problems still occur...

When I run Disk Utility in repair disk mode, I get a pop up that says "Alert - Storage system verify or repair failed" and in the details window it says "Problems were encountered during repair of the partition map" and (in ominous red type) "Error: Storage system verify or repair failed."
What makes this problem strange is that I only encounter this error message when running Repair Disk from the MacBook Air's hard drive. Whenever I boot from an external drive and run Disk Utility on the MacBook Air disk from the external, I get no error message. I've run Disk Warrior on the MacBook Air disk as well, but it doesn't indicate that there are any problems.
I called Apple Support and they told me  to take it to the Apple Store and get the hard drive replaced, which is nice of them but which still means that I'm going to be without a computer for a few days if not longer and I'll have to deal with the hassle of transferring files. I'd much prefer to fix the problem without having to replace the drive, assuming the problem is fixable.
Any advice?

The item you select does it appear somewhat like this:
Of course the content is different, but I'm more interested in the structure you see. On your computer you see Macintosh HD whereas on mine it says Lion HD.
If so, then in order to repair Macintsoh HD you have to boot from a different drive because you cannot repair the active startup volume. When you select the top entry and click on the Repair Disk button all that does is repair or replace the drive's partition map.
Now, if the partition map is damaged, then the only way to fix it is to repartition the SSD. Doing so will erase all the data on the drive. So you need to make a backup of Macintosh HD on a cleanly erased external drive. I would suggest using the cloning option in Disk Utility to clone the SSD to the external HDD:
Clone Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external HDD. Source means the internal SSD.
Once you have your backup then you may proceed to repartition the SSD.
Step One: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Two: Partition the SSD
1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder of the HDD.
2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Step Three: Clone the HDD to the SSD
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the SSD. Source means the HDD.
Step Four: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the SSD Macintosh HD volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the SSD.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

• Strange system log error

Hi everyone.
I'm having some trouble.
Today i saw my system log file have an error going.
its a
iMac AOSNotification[165]: [AOSNotification] XMPP session not connected - no ping sent
and it is coming all day long.
i'm sure it have something to do with MobileMe or some synchronizing thing.
Anyone have an idea of what to do ? I did try to log out and back in on MobileMe.
But it didn't help.
Thx

Hi.
Yes. it is synchronizing with my Notes, Keychains, Bookmarks and Calendar but not with a iPhone
Just the normal MobileMe on the computer. The iPhone is manually synchronized with iTunes and not with MobileMe.
But the strange part is. I even deleted all the MobileMe sync preffs such as
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.AOSNotification
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.DotMacSync
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/com.apple.FileSyncAgent.plist
and logged out of MobileMe preffspane in systempreffs.
And it is still giving me the same error in system log ????
Really weird now that i eint logged in ?

• Back to English Lang at reboot, Fastest way to start WM, Yaourt error

Hi guys I need some help,
I installed arch yesterday. I set every thing to "Turkish" i had no problems till this morning. I started my computer and the language was back to english.
# /etc/rc.conf - Main Configuration for Arch Linux
# LOCALIZATION
# LOCALE: available languages can be listed with the 'locale -a' command
# HARDWARECLOCK: set to "UTC" or "localtime", any other value will result
# in the hardware clock being left untouched (useful for virtualization)
# TIMEZONE: timezones are found in /usr/share/zoneinfo
# KEYMAP: keymaps are found in /usr/share/kbd/keymaps
# CONSOLEFONT: found in /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts (only needed for non-US)
# CONSOLEMAP: found in /usr/share/kbd/consoletrans
# USECOLOR: use ANSI color sequences in startup messages
LOCALE="tr_TR.UTF-8"
HARDWARECLOCK="UTC"
TIMEZONE="Europe/Istanbul"
KEYMAP="trq"
CONSOLEFONT=
CONSOLEMAP=
USECOLOR="yes"

In my locale.gen is only turkish uncommented.
What is the fastest way to get the WM loaded. I'm not using a login manager but i won't every time type "xinit /usr/bin/openbox-session". I will autologin and autoload the WM.
xinitrc will open a security hole because it won't lock the virtual terminal and I'm not sure if a bash script is the right way.  What would you suggest?
The last time I installed yaourt I had the problem that it couldn't find any packages from the AUR. Do I have to do someting to make it work after I installed it? I tried it out-of-box.
And if somebody is right now using ubuntu can he give me the screenshots for the font settings in firefox and gnome font settings (right click menu settings).
Thanks to everyone who wants to help or just look at this thread.

Happy new year everybody
I just solved the locale problem. If someone (like me) will use the autostart.sh in the official openbox site will get this error. Look at this:
# Run the system-wide support stuff
. $GLOBALAUTOSTART
# Programs to launch at startup
hsetroot ~/wallpaper.png &
xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 &
# SCIM support (for typing non-english characters)
export LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.utf8
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim
export QT_IM_MODULE=scim
scim -d &
# Programs that will run after Openbox has started
(sleep 2 && fbpanel) &
I removed the ja_JP.utf-8 and this problem was solved. Thanks for @Cedeel and @karol for their help.
Now I still don't know in which  way I should load my openbox. Details in the first post

• Urgent: Strange JDBC Oracle error

<b>SQLException: ORA-03120: two-task conversion routine: integer overflow</b>
I get the above error when i retrieve more than 1 column of data from a oracle 8.0.5 database, using jdbc driver (i tried using both classes111.zip and 816classes12b.zip) on a JDK1.2.2 platform, NT environment.
note 1: no error occurs when i retrieve only 1 column at a time.
note 2: when i use exactly the same program to retrieve data from a 8.1.5 database, no
error occurs at all.
So, what's going on here?
Can you please help and explain.
null

I guess the problem lies with version compatability.
Newer versions of driver classes like 816classes12b.zip and others do not work well with Oracle 8.0.5, but they works fine with 8.1.5 and above.
So to work with 8.0.5 and below, we need classes111.zip. But I suspect even classes111.zip has different versions because I encountered the same problem with my previous download of classes111.zip. And then I download from another place and it works fine. Very Strange. Can someone from oracle explain in details?
Conclusion: it is a matter of trying and testing the different driver classes by specifying and removing them from the environment class path. You need to start a new DOS prompt for the new classpath to take effect.

• Strange PLS-00305 Error in simple mapping

Hello,
I have a problem with deploying a simple mapping in OWB92. It just map a sequence nextval to key column of table. Validation and Generation processes tells me 'is ok', but deploy generate more(20!) strange warnings.
First warning looks like "ORA-06550: line 20, column 1:PLS-00305 previous use of 'DUMMY_TABLE_CURSOR_c' (string 10) conflicts with this use".
In OWB904 its work fine!
Whats wrong?
Cyrill

Cyrill,
I evaluated the mappings and one that you reported failed used only a sequence as a reference. I would argue whether that should be a valid situation... but then again, if it is not then Warehouse Builder should generate a validation error.
For your reference, I filed bug 3092490. You can review it on metalink.
From the mapping it looked like you are trying to handle your own errors. Is there any reason why you cannot rely on OWB's error handling?
Thanks,
Mark.

• Strange mapping debbug error!

I'm debugging a mapping and I have problem : parent constraint not found, it's strange because I defined other tables the same and it's ok. but this table have a Date format, so I think this is the problem. I know that Oracle format is dd-mon-yy, and I have mi source files as dd/mm/yyyy, can I put in the flat file propreties the format dd/mm/yyyy, or I must put the oracle format (dd-mon-yy)?
I thing it give this error because ti can't se the row referenced because has data format!

Hi,
If your flat source file has the format dd/mm/yyyy on dates, you should use DD/MM/YYYY in the format string also.
You might also want to turn on error logging in the properties of the mapping. This can give you an error log on the DB server file system.

• Strange New Compile Error

I was just compiling a project and I got the following
strange new error written to c:\.err.
Friday, April 25, 2008 17:08:13
HHA Version 4.74.8702
htmlproc.cpp(114) : Assertion failure: (pszTmp ==
m_pCompiler->m_pHtmlMem->psz)
The only 'major' change made to the project was an update to
the existing Index, and deletion of a number of spurious entries
therein.
What is this error and what can I do about it?
Any Advice?

Just got this error again:
Monday, May 05, 2008 11:25:23
HHA Version 4.74.8702
htmlproc.cpp(114) : Assertion failure: (pszTmp ==
m_pCompiler->m_pHtmlMem->psz)
Strangely, I have not increased the size of the index since
the last successful compile.
I am curious as to what other aspects of this
formerly-successfully-compiled-project may lead to this error.
Vivek, could you please provide any insight? Thank
you.

• Strange Time Capsule Error

Hello,
I woke up this morning, logged into my Mac and got a strange error about sparseerror from my time capsule. I clicked ok and tried to run time machine again. Then I got the following error
I've restarted the time capsule and get this every time Time Machine tries to connect.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this error? I made no changes on my end before this error came up.
Thanks,
Tim

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.
So in your case you can try using the Time Machine application to remove older backups or you can use Airport Utility to erase the Time Capsule's drive and begin again.
But whatever you do DO NOT just delete files from the backup with the Finder. This will screw up the backup index leading to perhaps many hours for Time Machine to re-index. Only use the Time Machine application to delete items from a Time Machine backup.
