Strange thin line of 'noise' across all video playback

Hey, another problem I'm currently having... for no reason my mac has started displaying a flashing line of what I can only describe as 'noise', it's very thin only a few pixels high but as wide as the video playback. This happens in FCP on my viewer window and also in quicktime, not all the time but most of the time.. it also displays on other video playback software.
Any ideas? I can take a screen shot if that helps...
Thanks!

There are many people using iMacs including myself who've developed random lines of random pixels, usually confined to the current window.
The machines have also become prone to hangs/freezes when these lines appear.
It is suspected that the problem is related to overheating in some way, as it can be improved by ramping up fans speeds using smcFanControl.
Most attribute it to overheating/faulty garphics cards but logic boards might also be implicated. It's been seen on the iMacs with ATI and nVidia cards, and on Leopard/Tiger.
It seemed to appear for me after a software update (early 2008 security update I think), and while that may be coincidence, I do wonder if a bug has been introduced somewhere.

  • Title across all video clips

I have 4 video clips that I would like to merge together in to one seamless video, add a song over the top, and add a title at the beginning to be present to the very end.
I added the 4 clips and used the "none" or " | " transition between them making it seemingly seamless (heh).
I was able to get the audio overlayed across them all.
However, when I add the title, it only goes across the first of 4 clips.
How can I get it to last the entire length of the video (all 4 clips)?
    Thanks! :-D

Please perform the following computer maintenance...
    a. Adobe Folder. Look for pile ups in the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder and delete them. Look for pile ups in the Media Cache Folder (conformed audio cfa and pek files) and delete them.
    b. Edit Menu/Preferences/Media. In the Media Cache section, click on the Clean button to get rid of the conformed video (.mcdb) files.
    c. Run the ccleaner, regular cleaner and registry cleaner.

As far as you can determine how do the 10 differ from the 46 videos. What is the hard drive save location for these 46 videos and is that drive formatted NTFS or FAT32? The properties of those videos (aside from the .mp4 file extension) would be included in your exchange of information, along with project preset.
Since you are working with a 32 bit application in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 with all the limitations of a 32 bit system, I am thinking that the issue probably goes to level of computer resources and maintenance.
Let us see if we can sort this out. There are other avenues to pursue but the above seems more indicated at this time.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get rid of the thin line that goes across the top Persona background image.

There is a 1-pixel wide light grey line across the top Persona background image between the navigation toolbar and the bookmarks toolbar from left to right. Nomatter whatever persona I have installed, it is there. Same thing also when i hover on any other Persona at Getpersonas.com. It is not there when using any other program and not when only showing the desktop. Only when using FF4. My PC is a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop using Windows Vista. This is not a monitor issue nor a graphic card issue since it only shows in FF.

for me, it happens on a maximized window. when i do restore to window, the line disappears.

  • How do I get rid of the horizontal thin line that goes across the top persona image .

There is a 1-pixel wide light horizontal grey line between the navigation toolbar and the bookmarks toolbar. This line goes across the persona background image nomatter what persona I have installed. It is not a monitor or graphic card problem since it only appears in FF. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 with Windows Vista. I have tried different screen resolutions with no luck.

No idea what you're talking about. i don't see anything like that.

  • Horizontal Lines Scroll Down Screen during Video Playback

I just bought a brand new 20" iMac G5 iSight a week ago and there are horizontal lines scrolling down my screen at random when I play any movie trailers or DVD movies. Anything related to video it seems!
Also, today I bought a VGA-VGA adapter to connect my iMac to my DELL 2005fpw in my first MIRROR TEST and am playing TOP GUN right now on both monitors. It's pretty awesome! HOWEVER.......
Lines scroll down the screen on my iMac display but there are NO LINES that appear or scroll down on my DELL while watching movies/trailers!! I searched the threads but don't see anything closely related to this. Just other threads about white, yellow, and green lines. There is the topic just below this one but I thought I better add another to be sure.
I love this iMac! ANY SUGGESTIONS? Or fixes?
I guess I better take it back Monday and get it replaced! Hopefully, my Apple Store will replace it and NOT try to repair it..

    Well sooo far.....
It appears the VGA to VGA video adapter is the culprit! I was about ready to reinstall the original 10.4.2 disk to get my old video driver back.
Instead, all I had to do was turn off my Dell Monitor and the "scrolling horizontal line" on my iMac when playing DVD's/movie trailers ~~ seems to have gone away. I turned my Dell back on and played both DVD's and trailers and the line reappeared on my iMac with none showing up at all on my Dell.
I'm a little confused as to why this is happening! Not sure if the adapter might be bad or if the iMac is just having issues "sharing" the signal?????
However, my new iMac seems to be flawless except when trying to use "monitor mirroring.
STILL.......ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE WELCOME JUST IN CASE!!!
    Thanks

  • All video playback is black, but can hear audio.

I'm using a trial of CS6 and having trouble with imported clips. In the past I have been able to open these clips in CS5.5 and CS6 when on Windows 7. Now I am on Windows 8 and they are all black when I open them in CS6. They do play in windows media player just fine though.
I do game recording and the clips were originally recorded with mjpeg compression. On Windows 7 I encoded them using the default Youtube 1080p preset in CS6.
So far I've tried installing the motion mjpeg codec trial, and it didn't work. Tried installing the full k-lite codec pack, that didn't work.
    My hardware:
    i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz
    16GB DDR3
2x 670 GTX SLI (althought Premiere is set to only use one GPU)
    128GB SSD
3 1TB 7200 RPM Hitachi Deskstar single platter HDDs

Pull out one of the video cards, install the Morgan or Mainconcept MJPEG codec and try again. Also make sure you have the latest nVidia driver, 310.64
This didn't fix anything unfortunately. And now I'm back on Windows 7, fresh install and using the 310.64 drivers I've been using all this time. Still have no video and can only hear the audio when watching in the source or sequence monitor. Clips play perfectly fine in windows media player.

  • Small thin line across screen

I turned my mac on the other day to see a thin line that runs across the screen at all times, its white when on black and black when on white. If you take a screen shot of the screen its not there.
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark, good work.
Since it isn't in the screenshot, which is actually taken from the Video card, the problem is the LCD or internal cable.

  • Strange white lines sometimes occur when saving 'for web and devices' in Illustrator?

    Hi
Strange white lines sometimes occur across my documents, when saving 'for web and devices' in Illustrator CS5 (on the right side of the black logo below). Does anyone know how to avoid this please??
    Thank you so much.

  • No Video Playback Whatsoever on iPhone 6 Plus

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and all Video playback has recently stopped working. When I say 'all', I mean every possible way of playing a video on the iPhone will not work:
Video's in my photo library don't playback (the iPhone will temporarily freeze when I click on the video, and then it will just display the thumbnail, no playback).
All my Apps cannot play video (Safari, Chrome, Youtube, Plex, etc). Strangely Youtube will show as playing, but you only get audio and a black screen.
If a restart my phone, video playback will magically start working again, but after a few minutes it will stop working (so essentially I have to restart my phone every time I want to watch a single video).
This problem seems to have started when I upgraded to iOS 8.1.
Anyone else have this problem and managed to fix it?

no SIM card installed problem on iPhone 6 plus . There is three time one is erase my phone . Second time restart my phone . Using ios 8.1  now I can't do anything . When I do Reseat all setting there is always no SIM card installed . My sim work at my pad . My phone sim tray are normal please help how can I do .
Can I do complaint to warranty?

  • Video playback in Firefox 26

    Hello,
Video playback on MOST websites is delayed by up to 20 seconds. Audio is always fine.
I've updated Real Player (please find a way to avoid employing RP in future versions of FF
along with Adobe!), updated all of my Add-ons and Plug-ins. I'm not running any crazy plug-ins.
I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus running and they assure me their app. is not the issue. And I'm not allowing any Kaspersky extras to run as well. ?
Ive researched the Community Forums here and outside and can find no truly viable solution.
I don't want to run IE and would rather not use Chrome, but I'm getting to the point where I will if it resolves video playback.
And I know this is not an issue of YouTube throttling bandwidth. ;)
A few years ago all video playback worked great. Now? Not so much. Too many people are experiencing this problem.
Can you offer a solution? I'm a big fan of FF and want to continue using it.
    Thanks, Paul

    Hello,
Your profile folder contains a user.js file, which includes preferences that were not created by Firefox.
If you haven't created it yourself in the first place or aren't sure what has created it, then the user.js file shouldn't be there at all. you can go ahead and delete the file - it won't affect your stored bookmarks or other personal data...
You can remove the file manually, as described in this article:
[[How to fix preferences that won't save]]
You might also need to disable the Flash Player plugin's use of hardware acceleration, which is an independent setting from Firefox's hardware acceleration setting. See:

  • ITunes Video Playback - Sound skipping

Hi - Just bought a new PC and have installed iTunes and brought over all my sound and video files to it via iPod hard disk function. Music is playing perfectly. All video playback is accompanied by terrible stuttering and spluttering of the audio. This is occuring at all times - even if iTunes is the only app running. DVD playback fantastic on PC as is video playback using other apps. Videos i'm trying to play are all under 5 minutes long and differ in type from video podcasts to Pixar content bought from itunes shop. New PC has brilliant spec so don't understand - any suggestions? All help much appreciated - regards!!

I almost have the same problem with the Video Podcast the sound is bad, For the audio only it works perfectly. At first everything was in order and worked well.
Then for no reason I got the trouble with the sound of the Video Podcast there was echoes and the quality was poor.
Cause it’s new computer I re-installed everything, so it worked well again. Then after going on a web site that uses active X for animation I got the problem back. I have no idea if Active X QuickTime are connected but each time the pattern the same.
Have tried to re-install iTunes the Quick Time I have changed the Audio option about filters in both nothing helped.

  • When using Firefox today a strange page with the title wonderhowto showing video instruction appears and all other open pages are closed. I have minimalised this stranger to the screen base and it now shows there with a mini firefox attached!

Please bear with me as I am quite new to computers. Early today on start up I was asked to upgrade an Apple app. I declined as I did not have time.
I opened Firefox as usual and went into several sites mail news etc and all seemed fine. Late morning this strange and quite professional looking video instruction page appeared full of photo's and instructions etc, the page took over the whole screen I thought it was strange so I closed it and all my open Firefox sites had gone. This has now happened several times. I have now noticed that when it is up there is a website address at the bottom of the screen. I tried to copy and paste this but it would not let me. There is a name scorecardresearch.com. Does this strike a bell with anyone?

    Hello,
My name is Bryan Crow, and I am the CEO of WonderHowTo.com. This problem was brought to my attention this morning by others who have reported the same problem to our contact address: [email protected] I'm very sorry to hear this is happening.
I assure you this is not something our website created or installed on your computer. Most likely it is some form of spyware or virus that is opening our website in order to hide it's true purpose. We are a large and trusted source for how-to articles and videos, so there is no reason we would choose to annoy people with such an obnoxious and intrusive behavior. Frankly it's very upsetting that someone would create malware that directed people to our website.
Naturally, our team would like to do whatever we can to try and find the culprit behind this so we can report them. If any of you can provide me with additional information by emailing [email protected], it could help us get to the bottom of this.
    Specifically:
    * Have you installed or updated any Firefox Add-Ons recently (go to Firefox -> Add Ons to see the list of add-ons you have installed)?
    * What Firefox Add-Ons do you have installed?
    * Have you tried running a virus or spyware scan on your system? If so, which software did you use and did it help?
    * What URL is opening up when you see WonderHowTo, and what exact time of day (and in what time-zone) did you see it?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Thin lines across screen

My iPhone has thin lines that run vertically across the screen. There are many of them and they are not fixed. I tried turning my phone off and then on, but there is still only a completely white screen with the grey lines. I made an appointment at an apple store, but does anybody know what is wrong with the phone/what the repair will end up being?
Also, is there anything I can do myself to fix this problem?

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are power your iPhone off and on, reset, restore with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restore as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
This sounds like a hardware problem and if so, your iPhone includes a one year warranty which could not have expired yet. Unless this was caused by accidental damage, more than likely your iPhone will be exchanged under warranty.

  • Thin Black Line going halfway across the top of the screen

Hi - I've exported a sequence from FCP. It's DV Pal 720x576 anamorphic 16:9 lower field dominance. I used compressor to create the mpeg 2 file for DVDSP. I used the Best Quality DVD 150 min setting. The problem I'm having is that when I export the file from DVD studio pro I get a black line going halfway across the top line of the video. I suspect it's either a deinterlacing issue or a field dominance problem. But I'm really stuck on how to sort it. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks very much.

    Something like this?
................................................................................ ........... (might also be mirrored horizontally)
That's the Half Line Offset and is a characteristic of interlaced video, not an issue or field dominance problem. It's quite complicated to explain and probably not surprising if you have never seen it before as it won't be visible on a regular TV set.
Short article here: http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~f76998/video/modes/ Look at the section "The "active" part of the signal". There's probably plenty more on the web, now you know what it's called.
What can you do about it? You will need to view FCP's output on an external interlaced monitor that is capable of displaying in underscan mode so you can see it.
Then you can use the crop controls to snip it off.
