Stretch SWF to fit widescreen

  The problem I am having is that I cannot get my swf file to scale to fit all windows.  It fits the stand aspect ratios but widescreens get the black bars on the left and right of the screen (black is set for my stage color).  Is there a way to have swf's be displayed stretched horizontally for widescreens without having just the stage be stretched?
  Here is my CSS styling atm:
<style type="text/css">
html {
  height: 100%;
  width: 100%;
  overflow: hidden;
#flashcontent {
  height: 100%;
  width: 100%;
body {
  height: 100%;
  width: 100%;
  margin: 0;
  padding: 0;
  background-color: #000;

Here is the scenario of what I was trying to do and what I did to fix it:
  I was using flash to import a movie that I would have looping in the background of some buttons and text along with some audio.  I wanted the video to scale to any window on any browser so that it would maintain the virtual environment like feel.  The solution was rather simple after I thought about it.  All I did was made the imported video much wider than the 800x600 stage.  I left the buttons and text pretty much where they were already at.  Now it will look great in widescreen displays, and almost as good in regular displays.  I haven't tried it out with a dual monitor setup yet either.
  Hope this helped anyone else in a similar perdicament.

  • Autosize swf to fit browser window

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make it so my site autosizes to fit the screen.  I read somewhere that you just change the height and width in the html code to 100% but it doesn't work.  Instead it appers to make it 100px and ingnores the %.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong whether it be with the html code or the publishing of the swf file tiself, I'm not sure...probably both.  Any help would be appreciated!!
    THANK YOU!

    I should also note that this is my HTML code:
      <script type="text/javascript">
       var so = new SWFObject("flashfile.swf", "1", "955", "640", "8", "#232323");
       so.addParam("align", "");
       so.write("flashcontent")
    The "so.write" line is very important and needs to be incoporated into any solution invloving html code changes. Thanks!

  • Fitting widescreen iMovies into iWeb

    I've created this movie in the 16:9 widescreen format and tried to import it into iWeb, but iWeb converts it to a 4:3 regular tv set size and the whole thing looks skewed. I tried to import it into a rectangle holder with the 16:9 dimensions, but the video comes out blurry. Is there anyway to import into iWeb and keep the 16:9 dimensions and keep the quality of the video high?

    iWeb Should only import the file and it will not convert or change its dimensions unless you tell it to.
    Use the QuickTime Inspector in iWeb 2 to make sure the original dimensions aren't being altered.

  • Media Encoder DV Widescreen same as DV?

    Hi folks,
    I used Adobe Media Encoder to convert some widescreen H.264 video (720p) to DV. I tried converting it to DV Widescreen, and then DV, in a separate file, to see what the difference was.
    To my surprise, they looked identical! They were both 720x480, and had slim dark gray bands on the left and right, and thick dark gray bars at the top and bottom.
    Isn't there supposed to be a difference between these two formats?
    Thanks,
    Lyle

    OK, I think I figured it out. The DV Widescreen image is stretched vertically to fit the 720x480 pixel frame, then marked with an "anamorphic widescreen" setting. Windows Media Player knows it needs to squash it vertically on playback.
    That does allow me to get a little more information into the frame than regular DV, since it's from an HD source, so I think I'll use the DV Widescreen encoding.
    Thanks,
    Lyle

  • Video appears stretched.

    I've burned several copies using both the 4X3 and 16x9 format and all the videos look fine when played on my computer, but once I put them into my portable dvd player (which I will be hooking up to an LCD projector, at my daughter's wedding reception) or play on our widescreen tv., the bride and groom each look stretched out and as though they've gained 20 pounds. I edited the video using both iMovie HD and iMovie 09, which I then sent into FCE and exported back into IM/HD. Using im09 was the only way I could figure out how to do some closeups of each of them.
    I even tried exporting out to tape and then re-importing. But still no luck. They're STRETCHED.
    Could the problem be my player or our widescreen t.v?
    Thanks for you help, I don't have much time before their big day.

    Yes.
    You didn't post enough specifics but I know that widescreen TV's have several different settings for aspect ratio because some channels still broadcast in 4:3 and people don't want to see the left/right black bars... in that case, it stretches horizontally to fit.
    Also, DVD players have similar settings for 4:3 with and without black bars as well as a 16:9 setting.
    Not knowing your situation, try to find those settings on your TV & DVD player and figure out the combination that works.

  • Firefox will not load my swf file. Runs perfectly in all other browsers. Help!

    I've developed a website (www.fit-mamas.com.au) whereby you click on the black & white image and get a pop-up window running a video. The video is an .flv file running via a .swf file loaded from an html file. The .swf file was produced using Flash CS3. The video loads perfectly in all browsers except for Firefox which just displays a blank screen with video controls. I've been researching online for hours, as this problem is a common one, but nobody else's solutions are working for me. Any help would be appreciated. My code is as follows:

  • Audition 1.5 has problem playing back MT session if I have a ton of stretched clips

    I might be doing something AA is not designed to do, I don't know. Perhaps (I wish) there are a lot easier ways of doing this, but I have a band that recorded, with a song that has 8 vocal tracks, singing as a group. However, they don't all start every word/phrase exactly at the same time, but should - therefore I use the clip stretching abilities in MT to cut the track up each place it's off and stretch it to fit. Normally I don't need to stretch it much at all, but after that tedious job is done the overall project sounds a lot better.
    However, now I have this session that has maybe 150 stretched clips (pretty crazy, huh?) and it takes about 30 minutes or more to open. Problem is, now it won't play back decently for some reason; certain tracks sound like a bunch of garble and warble - nothing that can be made out. I do not know if all the stretched clips have anything to do with it. The wave files appear the same as before - example, you can see where a louder portion of audio is but it is nothing synced with what I hear on the speakers.
    I should also mention that I had an under-rated computer run AA one time and the same thing happened there so I thought it just got tired and so I restarted AA and it worked fine after that. Here I also restarted AA but the problem is not better - worse if anything.
    Some tracks play fine, others don't. Another thing of interest is that I have only stretched the vocal tracks; by far the worse garble is on the instrument tracks; they even play back as quirks and garble in Edit View if I go there.
    Anyone have any solution why this happens? Am I over doing AA in some way?
    Also, is there a more automated way of matching and syncing vocals? I'm talking about them being .1 - .01 seconds off the beat; is there some way AA will automatically stretch clips to match beats with - say - the beat markers?

    I am not surprised at all by your reply!
    I would do that, soon as I'm done with stretching/timing adjustment; thing was I was still 10 seconds from the end when it started acting up. But Just as a safe precaution in case it would do something like that I had already backed up a couple of times so thankfully I don't need to do it all over again!
    So, you don't think that "set beat markers" (or something like that) can be locked to beats in MT? For example if I run the "Find and Mark" beats in EV and then use those beats to snap to the closest beat in MT, stretching the file as need be in order to get it there.. ? Maybe I'm dreaming out of this world.. Next time I'll have to force my clients to sing until they sing it dead on right!
    Thanks for your response!

    my desktop picture is stuck in stretch mode and I can't seem to change it.  Help!!

    Hewlett Packard already knew about this problem and they have also published a fix to solve the problem of wallpaper stucking on stretch mode. Download the hot fix from the ftp site here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45575.exe. This package changes the Wallpaper Picture Position function from Stretched to Fill, Fit, Tile, or Center.

  • Video stretching bug

    Ever since the last ipod update (when they added the fullscreen option) my videos have been playing STRETCHED to wide screen dimensions. When I have the widescreen function enabled in the video settings menu it plays the fullscreen videos STRETCHED to the widescreen dimensions with the top and bottom parts of the screen blacked out. When I disable the widescreen option it is still stretched to widescreen dimensions and it plays it on the whole screen and just cuts off the two edges.
    Has anyone else had this problem? I only have it on videos I have put on the ipod, not the ones I downloaded from itunes. They worked fine before the most recent update, but I've been having this problem ever since. I tried changing them from being movies in the 'video kind' to being tv shows (like the ones I downloaded from itunes) but that didn't fix it.
    Anyone have any other ideas?
    Is it a bug apple is aware of that they are working on for the next update?
    Can I roll my ipod driver back to before they added the widescreen option?

    No, the problem is that it is video from a normal ratio source (a tv show) and that the ipod is stretching it INTO a widescreen format; distorting the image.
    When I leave widescreen on it distorts it and shows the widescreen with the blacked out top and bottom. When I turn widescreen off it is still distorted and it chops off the sides.

    sorry I'm not going to actually answer your question, just
    comment on the slide show.
    It takes for ever to load (more than 30 seconds), that's not
    how you make an efficient slide show in
    Flash.
    Take a look at this customaizable Flash slide show you can
    down load fro free, I think that could
    help you:
    http://www.webtrans1.com/demos/slide_show/slide_show_instructions.php
    in this slide show the images are loaded dynamically so there
    is no waiting time. The size and speed
    of the fades is cunstomizable. You can use as many images as
    you want, by simply adding or removing
    them from a folder...
