Stripping off original message text while replying

Hi,
I want to remove the original content from the email when replying. Effectively only the newly added text should be forwarded.
How can I construct a message which does this? Any pointers?
Thanks,
Sunil.

I need to create a MMS out of the Email that I receive. I would receive the email message as a InputStream.
1) I need to analyse the message. Separate various parts.
2) The email that I would be getting would be a reply to the original one. Hence it would contain some original text. I need to strip this original text and just add the newly added text to the MMS. I am using OpenWave SDK to create MMS message. My program does not actually create/reply/forward any email.
3) Finally the MMS data would be written to a OutputStream and some program would take care of creating a complete MMS out of the data.
Sunil.

  • HOW TO edit original message text in a Reply email

    Hello All!
We have an Application over several countries in which our Field Technicians must answer emails (reply) informing field ocurrences in order to update our central database in a (quite) "real-time" basis.
The problem is that, to do it, they need to edit the original message text (field parsing info), typing info, changing original message text. But we can't!
How can we do it? For now it's only posible to type new info in the "email answering area", not in the original message area.
This Application is working well since 2 years ago in Smartphones running Windows Mobile (Motorola).
Now we bought 20 new Blackberry Curve 8520 and we are in troubles to use them well.
    Can somebody help us?

    Hi,

  • How to copy UserProperties from origin message when doing reply, forward or reply all?

is there a way to auto copy the UserProperties from origin message when doing reply, forward, reply all or any other operation? (if exists)

And to handle the Reply / Forward / ReplyAll events, you need to track the selected items (use Explorer.SelectionChange event) and messages displayed in inspectors (use Application.Inspectors.NewInspector event). Keep in mind that more than one message
can be selected or displayed at a time, so you will need to dynamically track the list of items that can fire the Reply / Forward / ReplyAll events.

  • Turn off selection of text when replying to message.

I have asked this before and received a solution but I am using a different computer now and I can't find the old answer. It was under tools/options/advanced. I want the entire message I am replying to included in the reply and not just any text that happens to be selected. (I wish this was possible for printing also but it wasn't the last time I asked.)
I am using TB 24.5.0 on Win 7.

Tools > Account Settings > Composition & addressing for the mail account
    * Select: Compose messages in HTML format
    * select: Automatically quote the original message when replying
    * select: 'start my reply above the quote' or other option
    if you have a signature:
    * select: place my signature 'below my reply (above the quote) or other option
    * select: include signature for replies
    * select: include my signatur for forwards
    * click on OK to save changes
There is the option to reply quoting only specifc sections of the email.
If you preselect/ highlight any text in the email and then use Reply, you are instructing Thunderbird to only quote highlighted text. This is also the same for printing.

  • Why do some replies to my emails only show my original message, not their reply?

Most of my email replies look fine. There are a very small handful that reply to my emails but I can only see my original text, not their reply. These people do not all have the same email provider. help much appreciated.

    Software probably.

  • Gmail message text box does not show up when I click on message to read it. Text will appear quoted if I click in Reply box.

When I open Gmail, I get the usual list of messages. When I click on a message to read it, everything appears as usual except the box with the message text in it. To see that text, I have to click in the Reply box, and then I'll see the original message text quoted.
This is true on three different Gmail accounts. I've not changed any Gmail settings. I have enabled and disabled various extensions and User Styles that affect Gmail, and turned off Greasemonkey, without effect.
Yesterday I did update Java 7 update 10, but Gmail was still working after that. I did install several new extensions at that time, but I tried disabling them and restarting, and the problem persisted.
    Please help. Thanks.

  • When someone responds to my original email, and I "reply" back, my original email isn't included.  I need it.  How do I get it to keep my original email?

When someone responds to my original email, and I "reply" back again, sometimes my original email is not included, and I need it to be.  How can I correct this?  Thanks.

I've had the same problem for more than a year with every Reply or Forward message I've been sending and today I found the solution! And it's really funny.
The message is always there but you can't see it because the font color is white! So white letters on white background = blank message. I think the settings must have defaulted to white during a software update.
The solution is very easy: go to Mail - Preferences - Fonts & Colors. Check the box that says "Color quoted text" and then choose three diferrent colors in the boxes below. Enjoy.
P.S. Make sure to also check the "Include all of the original message text" option under Mail - Preferences - Composing

  • Help! ... horizontal separation in text while using the internet

I need someone's help. While using the internet horizontal stripes of white separate text while I am using the internet. Could this be some sort of virus? I have no idea. Just started happening a few days ago and I have had my computer for about 6 months. Any suggestions would be appreciated... just not sure if I should take it in somewhere to get fixed or if it could be the internet and it will eventually go away. Thank you to anyone who can help!

  • Reply not quoting text of original message

For the past couple weeks, I have had an increasing number of messages where when I hit reply, the text of the message is not included. Same with forward. These messages always include attachments. All that gets included in the reply or forward is the attachment. Ideas?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

unfortunatley, I am having the very same problem on my power mac g5, but not on my mac book.
even before i installed hte new safari, every time i would hit reply or forward, only the original message would be included, not the most previous response. in preferences, i have checked " include all of the original text" but this doesnt help.
i then went ahead and installed the newer safari, 3.0.2 beta, based on the feedback from this board that the issue was specific to the 3.0.1 safari install. anyway, nothing has changed, still have the same issues.
the only was i can get this to include ALL of the original text is by hilighting the entire text content within the email. but this is a pain to do when responding to each and every email
    any ides?????

  • I receive a text from someone but it has an e-mail address at top of message. When I reply and send , it gets returned. Why? and how was original message sent?

I have downloaded I-Cloud and the new ios program. Where do my text go through now if they don't show up on my bill in the data usage section? When I get a text from friends sometime their e-mail address shows at the top of the message instead of their name like it use to. Then when I reply it gets returned. They tell me they are sending it through the normal text like they use to.

You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself.  But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message.  If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally.  Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.
Although Apple's notes indicate you should be able to do it - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
(I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

  • Text appears in the middle of the original message when replying

Has anyone had this problem? When replying to an email the reply message text appears right in the middle of the detail header of the original message. Here is an example:
    Original Message:
    From: Jane Doe
"Yes 2PM at Market Place works for me."
    To: Tawnbi
    Sent on xx/xx/2007, Friday, etc.
Hey! How about 2PM tomorrow at Market Place?
Okay. The text "Yes 2PM at Market Place works for me" was the reply. Why didn't it appear above the detail header to the original message? The rep at Apple Store in Chicago said he's only had one other customer with this problem. The email is being accessed through Outlook Web Access. Has anyone had this problem? If so, found a solution?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • Mail won't let me respond quoting the text of the original message

Mail does not allow me to respond to an email quoting the original message.
I tried going to preferences>composing and selecting "quote the text of the original message." under responding. But Mail doesn't allow me to select this option.
I've also tried selecting the text in the email that I want to respond to in my reply message and that doesn't show up when I hit reply.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I think I've discovered what was causing my problem. In the "Preferences, Composing" section, there's a pair of radio buttons for "When quoting text in replies or forwards". Mine was set to "Include selected text if any, otherwise include all", which means that if you have any text selected, only that text is included. It would appear that I was often selecting text while browsing through.
Setting the other radio button ("Include all of the original message") makes the behaviour go away.
I suspect that this may not be the only problem in this thread, but the fix worked for me!

  • Reply in mail and original message

    Hi,
I have an issue with mail that has finally annoyed me enough to post about it and hopefully resolve. When i reply to messages mail includes the reply as an attachment (text file) rather than inline in the message.
Has anyone got any suggestions? I have tried the options for keeping the message as the same format, tried the options for increasing quote level.
    Thanks...

    Scah,
a few questions to better understand:
    1. what is attached as a text file instead of inline - your reply or the original message?
    2. what message format are you using? (It is under Mail-Preferences-Composing)
    3. does the reply appear as a text file on your Mac while writing, or does it appear as a text file at the recipient? If the latter, what e-mail program do they use?
    Please post back.

  • When I receive and answer e-mail, the correspondence is usually "nested" with the original message, and the number of replies, etc. are indicated with a number next to the original message.  How can I change the mail settings so that every reply is listed

When I receive and answer e-mail, the correspondence is usually "nested" "behind"  the original message, and the number of replies, etc. are indicated with a number next to the original message in the inbox.  How can I change the mail settings so that every reply is listed individually in the inbox instead of having them "stacked" behind the original message.  I'm afraid I might accidentially overlook messages the way they are handled now.

Somebody here will correct me if I'm wrong, but what you have to do is go into Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendars and under Mail, turn off "Organize by Thread".  I think that will make each message show individually.

  • Remove original message when replying in mail

I don't want to include the text of messages received when I reply to them. Mail help says to adjust this you
    1. Choose Mail > Preferences and click Composing.
    2. Select the "Quote the text of the original message" checkbox.
    3. Select "Include selected text if any, otherwise include all."
my problem is that when I go to Mail > Preferences there is no Composing option to click.

In Tiger, when you go to Mail Preferences, there is a gray oval in the upper right hand corner of the Preferences window. When you click on it, it should reveal these other icons: General... Accounts... RSS... Junk Mail... Fonts & Colors... Viewing... Composing... Rules, if they are not currently visible.
In Leopard, when you go to Mail Preferences, if these other icons are not visible to you, go under View on the menubar and select "Show Toolbar"
