Stuttering....

I am using QT Pro 7.5, Mac OSX 10.5.4, on a MacBook Pro 2.4, and I had a dvd I was asked to rip and make into a QT movie and a wmv as well. (Its a legit ripping for a camp I work for this isn't a copy protected dvd so there is nothing illegal going on or circumventing any drm)
I used Handbrake 0.9.2 to rip the dvd into an .mp4 (apparently there is no way to rip to a .mov directly) and wanted to use QuickTime Pro to Export it to a .mov.
First it take about 3 hours for Exporting to a .mov for a 17 minute movie!!
Then with the .mov it plays 1 minute and 37 seconds into it and it just vibrates/stutters on a frame with all kinds of horizontal lines running through it.
When exporting it chugs along then grinds to a halt and I am sure this is where it happens. And the Export is the proper length 17 minutes and 2 seconds but other then the first 1:37 its this vibrating/stuttering image.
I have re-ripped the dvd 3xs. I have tried to Import it into iMovie hoping to Export from it but it tells me its going to take 287 minutes to import!
The original ripped .mp4 plays fine.
Any clues or suggestions on what I can do to get a .mov and a .wmv without having to spend any money on the solution? I offered this because I thought this shouldn't be a problem as I had the tools (Handbrake and QT Pro) to make it happen.
Thanks.

For the sake of letting people in on knowledge I knew it was unlikely I would be able to find the answer of why the stuttering/vibrating was happening, but this great reply on another board lead me to the software I needed, and it is one of the most full featured free software I have found. Check it out. Make a donation.
You don't need to rip an unprotected DVD.
Use MPEG Streamclip to convert to a QT/FCP easy set up.
Google it; it's free.

  • IOS 8 - Photos app bug - "stuttering" effect on Year view

    Hi Folks,
On the iPhone6 Plus 128GB with iOS8.1.3 (with 15000 photos inside several years go), I notice that when using the Photos native app in the “Year view” (yearly mosaic view), if I scroll up or down slightly fast, the scrolling that you get has a little “stuttering” or “jerking” effect, so the UI is not perfectly smooth in this view inside Photos native app.
Have you noticed it in your own iPhone's with iOS8.1.3. and also having a huge size photo callery as I have (>10000 photos spread in several years)? (I think that is it very important, because if you have not a huge photo gallery, probably you will not see the “stuttering” or “jerking” effect that I am describing).
I think this is a bug which impacts iOS User eXperience, which needs to be fixed.
    Thanks by your feedback!

    Hi Guys!
Any experience to share with us, please?
    Thanks!

  • 10.6.8 MacPro Bluetooth stuttering

    Problem description:
After upgrading to 10.6.8 and after some minutes working I realized my keyboard input was faster than the text appearance on screen. Sometimes I push a key on the keyboard and three or more times the letter appears on screen. Then I noticed the mouse movement on screen was stuttering, not constantly, but sometimes more, sometimes less; but no serious work possible. If I switch off Bluetooth and switch it back on, I have a few minutes for normal behavior of my Magic Mouse and keyboard, but then same problem again. Urgh.
    What I've done so far:
    - Repaired permissions
    - Deleted both devices from the list of known Bluetooth devices and registered them again
    - Deleted the bluetooth.plist
    - Reset the PRAM
    - Reset the SMC
    - Installed the Combo Update for 10.6.8
    - Switched the channel of my Wireless base station (tried every single possible channel)

    Hi Sven,
I guess I found a solution that works (so far...):
    - deinstall all your blouetooth devices
    - delete everything saying bluetooth in library/preferences
    - reinstall 10.6.8 as combo update
    - reinstall your bluetooth devices.
    Best,
    Björn

  • Audio is stuttering in iTunes and Finder

This is a long post, sorry, but I want to try and be specific as possible. I am stumped, frustrated and at my wits end... any advice/help would be killer!
So, idk what happened, but as of a few days ago (3 to 4 days) my G5 has been stuttering (for lack of a better description) when playing back audio via iTunes or through the Finder window. The 'stuttering' is multiple pauses throughout a song... like 50+ times, making it choppy and unable to play straight through. It's maddening to say the least.
The weekend before Xmas, some Diet Sprite was accidentally spilled in the front of my machine while I was not home. Apparently the machine made some beeps, 'smelled funny', yellow and red LED lights turned on and the machine was promptly unplugged. When I came home 3-4 days after the spill, all was well with the machine until a few days ago when this audio problem started.
I thought perhaps being that the RAM is up front in the machine that the soda could have corrupted the RAM. I ran the Apple Hardware Test with the DVD install disc that came with the computer and 3 hours later, the RAM (as well as all hardware) passed. Same when I ran Tech Tool Deluxe. When I ran Disc Utility, everything checked out fine too. System Profiler recognizes all the RAM as well.
Some things to take into consideration:
-I can use Adobe CS2 Suite apps perfectly. No performance issues at all.
-I have a 2TB RAID external HD which houses my music that iTunes feeds from. Even if I play audio via the Finder window from music files on my Desktop, it still 'stutters.' So it stutters no matter if the audio file resides on the external HD or internal HD.
-I have NOT tried playing music through my iTunes with music located on my desktop HD. I have about 400+ gb worth of music and being iTunes is as slow as it is, call me lazy, but I don't want to discard my library and reload a few albums to see if the 'stutter' problem doesn't happen.
-Music playback is PERFECT if I stream my iTunes to my PC laptop or any other laptops in the house. No 'stuttering.'
-After I ran the Safari update, this problem arose (to best of my memory)
Specs of the computer are: G5 Dual 2.3ghz + 5gb RAM running 10.4.11 with no available updates to install.
Again, if anyone has any idea or anyway to possibly solve this, I'd be forever grateful. Thanx!

Open up Console in Applications>Utilities, watch it for errors when these stutters occur.
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • Lightroom CC stuttering when no internet connection on Surface pro 3, is there a fix?

    Hello,
In order to see if the creative cloud for photography is suitable for my need I just downloaded the Lightroom CC (6) free test version.
I used to work previously on Lightroom 5.7.1 retail version (which is working perfectly) on my Surface pro 3 (i5 8gb ram).
Problem is, as soon I launch Lightroom CC with the WIFI disabled for battery saving on mobility or just no internet access, Lightroom CC is unusable due to  micro-stuttering every 20-30 sec approx.  Browsing the catalog, adjusting pictures, everything in fact.
I tried to uncheck the GPU setting as I see in different forums, but no differences.
After coming back at home, and as soon as I connect the WIFI, relaunch Lightoom CC. Everything runs smoothly...
I tried again the disable WIFI, restart Lightroom CC, stutters again from start.
Made 10 attempts of each, and every time I have an internet connection with wifi, everything runs smooth without stuttering, and every time I start the application without internet connection Lightroom do microfreeze (other apps runs fine, it's just LR CC).
Any ideas, cause for me this is completely a No-GO because I will not do tethering with my phone every time I want to use LR.
    Many thanks.
    Anthony.

    Hi, no clues?
Ok it seems  when I logout my adobe account id from lightroom CC (help => logout), LR is working smoothly without internet connect.
Is this normal that the application freeze for few seconds on a multicore device when I am logged, because it's trying to do account sync (none of my collections are sync by the way) or by doing licence checks on a free trial version?
    Is logout the only solution?
    Many thanks.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 - Liquify lags/stutters with pen

Since installing Photoshop CC Version 2014  yesterday the liquify tool is behaving strangely for me. Moving the Brush Cursor seems laggy/stuttering (hard to describe).. it works 'ok' with a mouse but once i started using the pen it's really laggy.
If you smudge in one direction the smudge appears with a short delay, after that - if you still pressing the pen down - it works fluently. But if i remove the pen and press it again on my tablet surce it lags again at first... So it's very hard to use it properly.
I Tried the 'old' photoshop CC and CS6 (both downloaded from Creative Cloud and still installed) and both still work fine and fluid.
    I'm using Windows 8.1. 64-bit on a Core i7-3770k, 16GB Ram, Gainward Phantom GTX770 graphics card.
Is Anyone else having this problem? or does anyone knows what's causing this?
(if it's a graphic driver problem, why is it still working on photoshop cc, it seems the code for liquify has changed for version 2014).

    I do not have Windows 8 but have seen the following about Windows 8 and Photoshop CC 2014 pen support in an other tread;
Photoshop CC 2014 changes stylus use to use Microsoft system API's, with these API's you need to have Windows Ink enabled. These API's give better stroke results and improve the out of the box experience for users using Windows tablet/convertible devices. If you want to go back to the old WinTab implementation of previous versions do the following:
Create a file that contains instructions to revert to the WinTab functionality.
Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
    Type in the following lines:
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\.
To turn off the gestalt's functionality, delete the PSUSerConfig.txt file. Or, move it to a different folder if it doesn't contain any other commands, or change the lines so they read:
    # Use Win8 native tablet support
    UseSystemStylus 1

  • IPad cuts out and stutters on AirPlay music but iPhone does not?!

Hi folks, hope you can help with this problem, it's a little weird.
I bought an Apple TV a few days ago and have been enjoying streaming music from my apple devices onto the hifi system connected to the TV.  It works great except for one particular use-case, which is really frustrating.  Basically, I can do everything from the Apple TV, stream HD content, Netflix etc. all good.  From my iPhone I can do everything over AirPlay, stream music from iTunes, from Spotify, stream high quality video from YouTube or off the device itself, all works perfectly.
On my iPad 2 however everything works EXCEPT streaming music, it's bizarre.  I can stream a high def video from YouTube onto the iPad and AirPlay it over to the ATV and it never misses a beat.  I can mirror my screen onto the TV and stream games like Real Racing HD with no issues or lag whatsoever.  However when I try to stream music either from iTunes or Spotify from the iPad it stutters (cuts out) every 30 seconds or so, making the music intolerable.
The weirdest thing is that I can queue up the same track on my iPhone 4s and on the iPad 2, play it from the iPhone and it works perfectly, pause that, play from the iPad and it's a complete mess.  Similarly, when music is stuttering and cutting out on the iPad, I can switch directly to the YouTube, or BBC iPlayer app and stream high def video over AirPlay with no sound or video problems, then switch back to the music - back come the cut outs. It's driving me mad, I want the iPad to be the device everyone uses to play music from, especially for parties, but at the moment I have to get my phone out every time.
So it's not a bandwidth problem or a wifi signal problem (because video over airplay is fine) and it only affects music and it only affects the iPad.
    Any ideas?!?!
I should state that all the iOS devices have the latest apple software and I have already tried resetting the iPad, the ATV, my wifi router etc. etc.

    "Sonos" your Airplay
    Hi,
This observation elicited a Eureka moment. After months of problems with our airplay I had worked through almost every suggestion on the net to little or no avail.
As a result of this post I reconfigured one of our access points as a dedicated airplay network. Brilliant. We have now had 2 weeks of perfect airplay.
If you are reading this, you are probably fairly tech savvy. You therefore probably have an old router in the garage, shed or attic.
Get it out, dust it off and connect it to your network as an access point (Ethernet cable and a good internet search on your router). Set it up on an empty wireless channel as "*****airplay" or whatever suits you and connect the airplay clients (airport express, Apple TV, airplay speakers etc.) to that. Keep everything else on the original wireless network.
Interestingly, this is how Sonos have approached the wireless music solution.
This has worked brilliantly for us, I hope this helps others in a similar predicament.

Ps - This is a good work around, but , come on apple - it shouldn't need a degree in engineering

2 access point - main router ((virgin media Superhub (aka Netgear)), separate access point, Netgear WNDR4500

  • FPS / Stuttering Issues (Overheat , Speedstep Issues ? ) MSI GE60 2PE APACHE PRO

    **EDIT**
Unable to post direct image links , please ad HTTP:// before links
Good evening Fellow Gamers and Adepts.
I come to you tonight with a serious doubt , which has rattled me for a while , and after some intense troubleshooting i have came up blank.
    Here's the deal , as stated , i have a MSI GE60 2PE apache Pro
Now , playing cs go has been the bane of my existence, i am aware there are heating issues with this laptop , but those have been fixed by a Thermal repaste, a cooling pad and the backplate removed.
Now i have no more throttling of CPU , and GPU appears to handle fine aswell; the thing is i keep having MASSIVE lag spikes in CS:GO , and apparently they are being cause by CPU issues.
    Image for clarification .
(Standart situation , notice the relative low fps for a old game)
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80
After a few seconds the following occurs
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#1
Notice the fps drop and the CPU frequency percent alert in game
another shot of this in console so you can see the several occurrences
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#2
now keep in mind that these are the lowest game settings, in Fullscreen windowed mode , if i even CONSIDER putting it on standart fullscreen i get unplayable jitterness and fps that range from 10 to 80 , all in a second.
Now , as i have stated i have fooled around and disabled speedstep in the bios , meaning that the cpu is always at 100%, seeing i have removed the backplate , throttling is not an issue as IXT (Intel extreme tuning) can attest.
note aswell the "active core count" spikes to 4/3 in the exact moments of the stutters, meaning that both problems should , in theory , be connected .

can ANYONE give me an ideia of whats going on ? i rather enjoy playing with games with friends , but this is driving me up the wall..
Lastest NVIDIA / Laptop drivers installed ; Bios Updated and EC firmware aswell.
Thank you for your time guys x)

  • FCPX Stuttering video in viewer problem

OK, first let me say I am using the FCPX Trial version on my 15", 2.53 MBP - 10.6.8.  My video is on a Lacie 500GB connected via Firewire 800.  I am not sure if the Trial Version is the full blown version, I think it is.  There is nothing I cannot do so far on it.  But, I am trying to edit footage I imported from my Rebel T3i which is 1080i HD video.  I cutting to music and when I play the timeline, the video in the viewer is very choppy.  It skips, stutters, eventually catches up and gets choppy again.  Everything has been rendered in the bkgd, I have rebooted and started over several times.  My exported vid looks great, just playing down in the timeline is very difficult and makes editing to music very hard.
I am wondering if this is an issue with FCPX or do I need to make preference adjustments?  Could it just be due to a Trial Version?  It seems like the video is too big, could my MBP be too slow?

The reason all thumbnails turned red when you switched to proxy media is simply because you didn't create any proxy media. From your other posts it looks you are using the original media in h264. Although it should work, as Tom said, I expect that either proxy media or optimized media would be much easier on your processor, resulting in smoother playback and overall smoother operation, especially in a machine that is not very fast.
Note that you can (re)create proxy or optimized media not only when you add clips to an event, but also at a  later time. Simply select the clips in your Event Browser, control-click and select "Transcode media..." and check the box(es) for proxy and/or optimized media.
Whether FCP X attempts to playback optimized/original or proxy media is set up in the preferences, under "playback".
Since you are experiencing playback difficulties, that is at least worth a try: create proxy media, switch playback to it. If it works better, there you have it. Remember to switch back to original/optimized before final export.

  • Stuttering video in viewer

    Hi everybody,
I bought Final Cut Express HD only last week and I am absolutely thrilled by the immense functionality of this program.
I am facing one particular problem, however: when I am playing a video in the viewer of FCE, it is heavily stuttering, which is very annoying.
I did use the search function of the forum and tried a lot of things to remedy this ugly behavior: I deleted the preferences, I created a new project and re-imported the original DV material, I played around with the playback settings of FCE and reduced the quality settings... nothing worked - the video playback still jumps from one frame to 2 or 3 after the current one, occasionally stopping at all while audio playback continues.
Funnily enough, the playback of the (rendered) timeline in the canvas works fine, including all effects, filters, transitions, etc. Only the playback in the viewer is sluggish.
My hardware should not be the problem: I am on a MacBook Pro 17inch, 2GB of RAM, 120GB 5400RPM hard drive, ATI 256MB VRAM.ä
Is there anything else I can do? Does anyone have the same problem? I am really cluless by now after really having tried a couple of things to resolve the problem...
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
    MacBook Pro 17'' Mac OS X (10.4.6) 2GB RAM, 120GB 5400RPM HD, ATI 256MB VRAM

capturing via iMovie as I am and then using in FCE is not perfect
Yes there are limits, but not about data rates, that I know: in both cases the original DV video is recorded into a file, but with different formats.
iMovie records a .dv file containing the original DV stream from the camcorder into a single track including both video and audio; FCE records a .mov file where the video DV stream and the audio are in separate tracks.
    The limits are:
    - no timecode recording: iMovie does not capture the timecode originally recorded by the camcorder
    - audio needs rendering
The advantage is what you already know: easy trashing of unused clips media.

  • ITunes Stream Stuttering and Crackling Noises (Temporary Work Around Option

Note: If you don’t take the time from your busy schedule to address these suggestions being provided in this and future upcoming series, then by all mean continue with what you were doing before and continue to experience the frustrations and problems. The series is not meant to be a cure-all for the problems you are having. But the information will go a long way toward correcting and improving a lot of issues that you may be having with your system. Think About It !!!!!!!!!!
I listen to the radio a lot using the iTunes player as well as listen to music that I have transferred to the player. When a problem occurs it aggravates me to no end especially if it is occurring when I am try to relax to my music. At times I am also experiencing the stuttering and crackling issues in the 7.0 update that has been recently released. The following information can be useful in temporarily correcting this problem until Apple comes up with a patch to resolve this issue. If you choose to proceed with implementing this information then you assume any liability that may occur during your attempts at using and applying this information. This information has so far suited any needs that I may or am currently having to date personally.
1)Quick Time Preferences – In the Quick Time Preferences\Audio tab check to make sure that the settings are at the default level. Your platform may reflect a different khz Rate. On my platform my default level will be the following:
    Rate: 44.1 khz
    Size: 16 bit
    Channels: Stereo (L R)
When I listen to my music I like a good quality stereo sound so I have my audio sound routed from my laptop to my CD or Video jacks in the back of my stereo. Stereo System: Pioneer SX 251R Receiver. External Speakers: 2 - 8 ohm Yamaha.
Make sure the Safe Mode box is unchecked. Close the Quick Time player. Now, when you begin experiencing the stutter problem there are two immediate steps that you can try to correct the problem:
1)Stop the stream or the music that you are listening too and restart the service each time that the event occurs, (In my case the events that have been occurring has not been consistent when they do occur. Close monitoring in place on all connection ports. Running Snap In’s deployed: IPSec Monitor/MMC Console– Currently monitoring IKE and IPSec Statistics for any changes. To run this snap in properly the Event Monitor must be in the running state and actively logging events in the Administrative\Event Viewer Folder) I will also be configuring Dr Watson to generate a Stack and Dump file log to the desk top in the event of an unexpected occurrence. or,
2)If that does not correct the problem then try the following: Go to the My Computer folder and open it up. When you have done so, Right click the Local Disk and enter the Properties section. When the Local Disk Properties box comes up, enter the Tools tab, in the Error Checking section, place a check mark in the “Automatically Fix System Errors” and click start\yes. Back out of that and close all running programs including firewall in the tray next to your clock and reboot the system.
Once you have rebooted run the Disk Cleanup utility and the Disk Defragmenter utility. While we are using the Disk Defragmenter lets take an extra step to insure that we defragging the hard drive volumes as much as possible. Click on the analyze button a second time. If there are any entries in the box highlight the first entry and run the Defrag utility a second time.
Tip! If you would get in the habit of running defrag process regularly on a daily basis it will help improve the overall baseline performance of your machine.
Last Step: Open your player and try again.
If you are still experiencing the problem and it hasn’t leveled out to your satisfaction then there are two additional steps that I have personally used or am currently using that may help with your issues. The steps will involve installing a small batch file program and a hot fix patch.
User Profile Hive Cleanup Service– (Batch Program) Open your Browser and type in the following address: www.microsft.com once the page has loaded look for the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the page. In the search bar type in the following: “User Profile Hive Cleanup Service”. Once the search result page comes up click on the first result to bring up the proper download page. Before you can use this batch program you will be required to go through a short validation process before you can download the program. The validation process is to ensure that you are running a genuine windows platform.
    Overview
The User Profile Hive Cleanup service helps to ensure user sessions are completely terminated when a user logs off. System processes and applications occasionally maintain connections to registry keys in the user profile after a user logs off. In those cases the user session is prevented from completely ending. This can result in problems when using Roaming User Profiles in a server environment or when using locked profiles as implemented through the Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP.
On Windows 2000 you can benefit from this service if the application event log shows event id 1000 where the message text indicates that the profile is not unloading and that the error is "Access is denied". On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 either event ids 1517 and 1524 indicate the same profile unload problem.
To accomplish this the service monitors for logged off users that still have registry hives loaded. When that happens the service determines which application have handles opened to the hives and releases them. It logs the application name and what registry keys were left open. After this the system finishes unloading the profile.
Once you have downloaded and installed the batch file close all running programs and reboot. Now, ‘This is important”, lets determine if the batch file is properly running after installation. Go to Start\Help and Support. Once the Help and Support Center comes up click on the following link: “Use tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems” under the “Pick a task” section. Once the page has been loaded in the left hand pane click on the “Advanced System Information” link. Once that page has been loaded click on the following link: View detailed system information (Msinfo32.exe).
Once the System Information box is loaded look in the left pane and open the Software Environment Tree and click on the following link: Windows Error Reporting. If the batch program is properly running you should see the following entry: “User profile hive cleanup service version 1.6.30.0 started successfully
&#x00a”. The ending symbols may be different on your platform.
Now, we want to go to another location in your system to verify this entry and that this service is properly working again. Pull up your “Control Panel” and enter the “Administrative Tools” folder. Once there enter the “Event Viewer” folder. Then enter the “Application Folder”. If the service is properly working the following entry will be logged: User profile hive cleanup service version 1.6.30.0 started successfully, Event ID 1001. If for some reason this program is not functioning properly a different error code other then the Event Id 1001 will be generated and logged in this folder. Also if one is generated you will want to verify if it’s a genuine error. To do this you need to go back into the help and support center Advanced System Information link and click on the following link: “View the error log”. If anything goes wrong a corresponding general entry that was logged in the Event Viewer will be logged in this link verifying that a problem had occurred. All of the information in the logs will be useful in your trouble shooting efforts. To date I have not had any measurable conflicts to occur while using this batch program to date. Closing Overview: when this program engages it will target itself at the Kernel System only at shutdown and startup. A corresponding entry will be made in the folders that I have described above stating that the program had started or failed.
System Restore Feature and USB Device’s – Event Viewer\System and Application Folders\Event ID SR 1 (Hot Fix Patch) – I have noticed that some folks are loading and unloading iTunes in attempt to correct problems. Also, I see by the forum board that a lot of folks are having a lot of problems with their iPods. Think about this for a moment, iPods will have their own unique set of drivers to operate from. I am going to attempt to explain an experience that occurred with me last year on this issue. When working with USB Devices it is important to keep your eyes on the Event Viewer folders for the following event id being logged: Event ID SR 1. This is especially true if you are using your System Restore Feature. The main folders that you want to keep your eyes on are the “System\Application” folders.
I have not witnessed any specific Software Applications generating this code in general at this point in time. But when it comes to Software and USB Devices I have personally experienced a situation that did cause a SR 1 entry last year. Example: My wife has Sevier medical problems. When we travel I keep a USB Flash Drive on my key chain with her medical information installed in case of an emergence. The Medic Alert E-Health Key was a new device that came out that had bugs that needed resolved just as with iTunes 7.0. The short of the story is that the flash drive was conflicting with the System Restore Feature, which led to additional problems such as conflicts in the Add/Remove Utility. I could not properly unload the Uninstall .Dll files when trying to uninstall the flash drive itself using the Add/Remove Utility. During a conversation with a Microsoft Support tech I was informed that other unloading issues had also been identified in the Add/Remove Utility. I could be wrong but I think there is a patch available that would help with unloading issues while using the Add/Remove Utility. To keep an eye on any possible loading/unloading issues that I may have while using the Add/Remove Utility, I use the following program to determine if there any issue’s that I need to deal with: (30 Day Trial Program-Fully Functional)
    http://www.mikasalonen.com/remove/?remove40
Program Name: Remove 4.0. All of the information you need to know about this program will be summarized in the provided link. If anything: USE IT !!!!
NOTE: This SR 1 patch is only a temporary hot fix. They are suggesting that we wait until the next Windows XP service pack release that contains the hot fix.
    Article Id : 888402
    Last Review : June 01, 2006
    Revision : 1.5
Also keep this in mind. The only time that you want to become concerned about the SR 1 issue is when you notice an increase in the number of SR 1 entries in Event viewer logs. If you are logging two (2) or more events then I would begin investigating the problem. Again, In my case the System Restore Feature was identified as the initial cause of conflict when the conflict first occurred when loading the USB Flash Drivers. So, if you suddenly notice this entry in the Event Viewer then you can pretty much bet that you are experiencing a USB issue that is conflicting with the System Restore Feature. But there is a Hot Fix available to temporarily resolve this issue as I have stated. Go back to the Microsoft link that was provided. When the page loads, in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the page type in the following KB 888402. Be Advised – if you have to resort to this measure you will have to contact the Microsoft Support Team directly by phone to receive this patch.
When you talk to the tech you will need to provide the following information: A brief description if the Event being generated in the Event Viewer as well as a brief description of the problem that you are having. Once the tech has verified the information he/she will e-mail the hot fix to you in a zip folder if I’m not mistaken.
    System and Third Party Drivers
Drivers can be another source of conflict that can have a direct impact on how your system operates. I have already given you an example of this in the System Restore/USB Devices section. They can also cause unexpected stability issues. In addition to that malicious Root Kits and Trojans can download drivers on your hard drive without your knowledge further complicating matters. So, before I close this information out let me show you how we can quickly gather and display a listing of all drivers that are currently installed on you hard drive by using a very simple program. (This program will be a 15-day Trial program).
    Program Name: My Drivers 3.11
With this program you will be able filter out all preinstalled drivers that came with the system at the time of purchase, thus exposing the remaining Third Party drivers and as well as the Unknowns. If you know what your doing I would take this time now and disable the drive(s) in question if removal procedures are deemed necessary once you have obtained the driver listing. My overall objective with this program is to immediately determine if there is anything out of the norm with the drivers overall.
A download link is unavailable at this time. The web site appears to be under construction at this time.
As a final step on this issue I suggest keeping an eye on the Device Manager for any sudden “Yellow Warning Symbols” appearing within the Device Manager Tree Structure.
Print this information off and us it as a reference point. Any new helpful hints that I can think of will be posted as soon as I can squeeze the time in.

  • Mac Mini 2011 with i7 processor, but stuttering images?

    Hi there,
Finally I've gone and got a Mac Mini for my HDTV, I got the 2.5 GHz model, but upgraded the processor to a 2.7 i7 one. It also has the AMD Radeon display which I thought was meant to be top of the range....
But as I'm watching video on my TV I'm seeing occassional stuttering images. It's not the flickering screen problem that I've seen reported elsewhere where the screen goes black for a second. This is like little split second freezes, or like a frame has been skipped.
It's not just on digital files I watched from my iTunes library. I've also seen the same thing when playing a DVD in the super drive I also bought with my Mac Mini.
    Other info that may help:
My Mac Mini is connected by HDMI to my Denon 1910 AVR, which itself is connected to my TV via HDMI.
The HDMI cable I've got going from Mac to AVR was the same one I used to have in my Apple TV (last year's model). It wasn't an expensive cable. I don't recall having similar problems with the Apple TV.
My TV is an LG 50Hz (32LH50YD).
In the display preference panel, I've got 1080p selected for resolution, and 50Hz PAL for the refresh rate (PAL is the standard in Australia).
Is the problem with the Mini, with the AVR or with the TV? Any ideas on how to trouble shoot?
    Thanks in advance....

I have the same i7 model and a similar set up (HDMI from Mini to Amp, then HDMI to TV), but I've only noticed this happen once on a downloaded TV episode (standard def).  I assumed it was something to do with the content I was watching or due to having a lot of stuff running in the background.
Have you checked Activity Monitor to see if there's anything eating up CPU while you're watching?
Is the problem repeatable at the same point in the same DVD / download? Or is it random?
Have you tried viewing the content with different software?  I use Plex for all my content viewing, except stuff downloaded directly from iTunes.

  • Stuttering and lag during playback  when hooked up to TV

    Hi,
I recently bought the monoprice mini display port to HDMI adapter for connecting my MBP to my HDTV. I managed to get everything connected without too much problem, but once I started playing HD content through iTunes I noticed that there was substantial stuttering and lag. If I disconnect my computer and watch through the laptop monitor there doesn't seem to be any problem. The strange thing is that my wife's 3-year old macbook doesn't seem to have any problem playing back the same content on our TV using a DVI to HDMI cable.
I've tried using both video chips. If anything, the 9600m GT chip seems to produce MORE stuttering, rather than less. Perhaps I'm dealing with a heat problem here?
Has anyone had similar problems? Any workarounds? I've tried both the 1080 and 720 settings- there wasn't much difference.
    Thanks.

Thanks, however, I have the correct NTSC setting and I am plugging into the correct jack(s) on the tv but all the pictures are black and white.
I have tried this on several tv's all with the same black and white results
    Any other ideas?

  • Stuttering Motion Effects on NTSC monitor

I'm doing a couple of DV-NTSC projects where I'm making some graphics with Motion. And while everything else looks good played back on my external monitor (FireWire route thru DSR11), any Motion clips I make with the 3D Camera Swerve effect stutters and flickers like crazy. The clips look fine on the computer screen and exported QuickTimes and WMV's also look normal. It's just the analog connection to my professional JVC NTSC monitor that's driving me nuts. Is this something I need to worry about if I have to output to tape as well as a digital file (which of course looks OK also)? If so, what can I do to make the tape output look smooth? The de-interlace and deflicker filters don't help.

Are you talking about output from Motion itself or from a Motion project on your FCP timeline?
Do you still have this problem when you render the clip out of motion and replace the Motion project in your timeline with it's actual rendered output?

We need help asap. Have a project is due to deliver today (5/14).
We have a video to go on a dvd-rom, live action with Motion Graphics behind.
When output is done thru Projector the Motion Graphics stutter as they scroll.
    Here is more technical info:
    Stuttering flv playback issue:
Prores 422 timeline 29.97fps 1280x720 output from fcp using current settings.
Mov file is approx 7gb, plays relatively smooth on a mac pro with no raid.
Frame by frame analysis shows all frames are present with no jumps tears or skips.
Tried several output paths, programs and settings to create a smooth flv file to no avail.
We adjusted data rates from 2k, 3.5k, 4k and 8k, no luck
We adjusted keyframe rates from low to all frames, no luck.
We tried cs3 flash encoder, cs5 media encoder, squeeze ect, same results.
Playback in the flash projector seems to choke slightly no matter what we do.
Have also posted in the Director Forum.
    Any help much appreciated!

Here are a few ideas off the top of my head:
Try playing the file using a different xtra, sometimes different ones will work better.  If you have Director 11.5, there is a native flv playback xtra.
You can build a player easily in Flash using the flvPlayback component, then bring that into Director as a swf.
Once you have the video in Director, try making the member Direct To Stage (DTS).  If it is already DTS, try making it not DTS.
Make sure the video is not transparent, and nothing in Director overlaps the video... in fact, when the video is playing, nothing should be moving at all, and try to keep the amount of code that is running to a minimum.
Try lowering your video's data rate further or try using a different codec.
Using VBR (Variable Bit Rate) compression often makes the video appear to play smoother.
Try compressing the flv with different software.  FFMpeg, for example, is free and does a very good job, often better than the Flash Video Encoder that comes with Flash/Creative Suite.

  • Firefox 37 Beta on Windows 8.1 has lag and stuttering when scrolling

I just recently got a new laptop, and since the minute I've installed firefox on it there has been lag when scrolling webpages. It seems to start off not too badly, with there being some stuttering when I first open firefox, however it seems like the longer I'm browsing the worse it gets, to the point where sometimes I'll start scrolling and then a second later firefox will just jump to the bottom of the page. Internet Explorer and Chrome both have perfectly smooth scrolling.
I've tried numerous things to fix it already, this is some of the stuff I can remember trying:
-Turning off hardware acceleration and smooth scrolling
    -Starting in safe mode
    -Complete reinstall with new profile
-Updating graphics card and intel drivers
    Specs of the new laptop:
    Core i7
    GTX 970M
    16Gb RAM

When I was trying different versions of Firefox to see if they all had the scrolling problem, I made sure to try 36, 38, and even 31.5 ESL portable. They all have the scrolling problem when my laptop is unplugged. However, when I tried Tor just to see what would happen - bingo! Perfectly smooth scrolling once more. This is especially weird as Tor uses 31.5.3 ESL as a base...
This made me think that it could potentially be a plugin, as Tor doesn't have any plugins installed other than Flash. However, after first disabling, then manually removing, every plugin that was listed in about:plugins the problem continues to persist.
Any idea why Tor would work flawlessly while every other version of firefox suffers the scrolling issue? I couldn't seem to remove the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, plugin. Is it possible to remove it in order to see if it is causing the problem?
